These guys deserve more than 5 stars. I have been bringing my cars here for a few years. There has been a lot of good reviews here and I agree with all of them. There is something special about all the guys working here . They work really well together. They have exceeded my expectations every time I visit. They are honest, upfront with costs and very very reasonable, and proud of every job they do. The quality of work is second to none. I found these guys when I lived in Bountiful, but now that I live in Kaysville I still come down because I trust them. I recommend them to anyone for all car care.

Go here you’ll be happy. As a dealer I am in here a few times a week. These guys are thorough and fair. They’re more than mufflers I am taking a Subaru there for a clutch. And they stand behind their work. If you ask for “complimentary check list” they’ll do that for free and if any further diagnostics needed they’ll tell you first. It’s like a physical for your car. They will also tell you what needs done now and what is coming down the road. Tell them the ol man mentioned them.

I needed an emissions test done. Two things brought me in. 1) I noticed the Best in State award 2) $10 off coupon online. I dropped by around 11:30 to see how long it would take. Shawn motioned me to come in since he was on the phone. He told me it would take about 15 minutes and by dang, he was right! I could tell they were busy, but he had Jay do the test. I congratulated Shawn on their Best of State and he said they just received another one for this year. Their customer service is great and I felt taken care of. Though I live 1 minute away from a Jiffy Lube and Grease Monkey, I will return to Master Muffler. Kudos to Shawn and team.

Master Mufler does great exhaust work. I have gone to them several times for custom work and they always do quality work for a fair price. Don and Jay are great guys and they treat you more like a buddy than just a customer as they are very happy to chat and joke with you while ensuring they communicate with you to get the best possible outcome of what you're looking for. If there is a problem with any work Master Muffler will make it right and the mechanics don't like to put their name on anything unless they are confident that their work is quality and the customer is happy.

These guys are great. Stumbled on their shop due to the Jiffy Lube not wanting to do my oil change because of a "stripped" drain plug. Multiple mechanics have told me that my drain plug was stripped and suggested buying an oil pan for $700 dollars. Jay and Sean took me as a walk-in to look at the pan, and Jay discovered that the threads were only crossed and simply had to replace the drain plug. They even stayed open for an extra hour to make sure I got the oil filter that they had to call into stock from OReilly down the road. They saved me hundreds of dollars and their honesty is extremely respectable. I would highly recommend using Jay and his team for any car work you need done.

I was doing some custom work for a client on a Corvette. I had taken the car to Ray's muffler in Bountiful, dropping it off at 8:30am. To start, they seemed put out with what I was asking them to do. Anyway, at 4pm they called me to tall me that what I wanted done was impossible and that I would have to buy different mufflers to make it work. I took the vehicle and went directly to Master Muffler. I spoke with Shawn and he said, "lets get it up on a rack and I'll tell you if we can do it or not." Within 5 minutes I had shown them what I wanted and they got to work. Less than an hour late it was finished and looked Awesome!! These guys are the best and I will not go anywhere else. Thanks!!!

I brought my car in yesterday because the “maintenance required” light came on my dashboard. They originally assumed it would need an oil change, but they inspected everything and told me everything looked great! All they did was reset my system and the maintenance required light went away. They said I still had about 1,000 miles left with my current oil and they didn’t want me to spend money to get an oil change when it wasn’t needed. Such honesty!!! Most people would have just changed it and charged me anyway. I really appreciate them and their amazing customer service. I didn’t catch the name of the man helping me, but he was so kind!! I will definitely bring my car back here.

When needing my suspension switched not only was the original price 2-300$ less than the shops around but it ended up being 400$ cheaper because their honesty on the hours of labor needed. And that’s even counting the alignment which other shops wanted 100-150$ more on top saved a total of 500$ as well as getting my car back the same day, awesome employees who understood my concern with needing it back and realizing the job did not call for the amount of hours they had.

***update*** The vehicle was purchased. Thanks for your concern on that! However, the vehicle inspected, is fine. If it were in such dangerous condition, it wouldn’t drive properly. Every good business owner knows that selling something in such bad condition is simply bad business for everyone. The business would fail. Your opinion on the car was surprisingly wrong. I just wanted to warn people of how off Master Muffler can be, certified or not. Thanks for your reply! Have a good weekend also! This place is a joke. The mechanics don't know what they're talking about when it comes to cars. I had a vehicle inspected to make sure that there aren't any engine leaks nor engine damage. After the inspection, according to them, the vehicle had tires that are too big and unsafe. Frame damage was so bad that the vehicle is also unsafe to drive. Alignment was completely off that it made the vehicle unsafe to drive as well. The vehicle is perfectly fine, alignment was done correctly, and there's no frame damage. The vehicle IS safe to drive. It passed safety emissions & inspections and was properly repaired. I went on a road trip to Yellowstone and I had zero issues with this unsafe and dangerous car of mine! I wouldn't recommend this place for inspections. They're just another retail store prepared to sell you things, but they aren't experienced mechanics. They just babble things to make themselves sound knowledgeable.

Had just a regular oil change, and afterwards my vehicle was left filthy.... unreal. Will never go here again. Be aware. Go to Burt Brothers across the street, at least they use paper to cover seats, etc.

Had to have my tailpipe and muffler replaced last year. Master Muffler had the best prices in the area. That was a good enough reason for me to check them out, but the service is the reason for the 5 stars. They showed me exactly what was wrong, which parts needed to be replaced, and why. Then they got the work done quickly. Their professionalism and attentiveness to my concerns as the car's owner will win return visits if/when I need more work done.

Excellent service. Sean was very helpful at educating us on what was wrong with our car, and didn't pressure us into fixing it then and there. They were able to replace the catalytic converter on our 2008 Subaru Outback, which is notoriously tricky to do. We will absolutely take our business to this specific master muffler again.

Friendly service and fair price. When they were done they were so nice to park my car out of the rain so I wouldn't have to carry my baby into the bad weather. However, I went there for an oil change and told them that I had the oil filter, oil, and an oil additive (Best Line) in the trunk of my car that I wanted them to use. Everything went well except they forgot to put in the Best Line. I have an older car and the Best Line was supposed to help the car last a little longer.

These guys are honest through and through, I went to have a car inspected that I was buying from a nearby dealership, they told me 'I'm not sure why I'm talking us out of money, but if I were in your situation with a vehicle like that, I would probably do the basic inspection' (that they provided completely free) instead of the two more expensive options. I am doing the more expensive option just to support them in how impressed I was with their shop, customer service, and honesty. I'll be bringing my car here next time I have any issues.

I don't write many reviews but this one is important. Saturday afternoon (9/15/18) I was looking at buying a car from a dealer in North Salt Lake. The dealer agreed to a BlueStar inspection and dropped the car off at Master Muffler where I personally paid for the inspection. Apparently the dealer was not happy with the results of the inspection and decided to take it out on Master Muffler by submitting a one star review for a service they didn't pay for. I won't be buying this car, or any other cars, from this particular dealer. Thank you Master Muffler, specifically Shawn and Jay, for getting the inspection done so quickly and providing an independent, third party assessment so I could make an informed decision about a car with significant issues. You helped me avoid making a costly mistake!

Incredible level of honesty and integrity. We had to stop here for an emergency check up when are car started having these rolling sound under the front wheels. As it turns out, we had some pretty major damage to our wheel bearings. Shawn was very helpful and real with us about the damage. Although we didn't end up getting our wheel bearings replaced here (they were under warranty at another location), I'd recommend this place to anybody! Thanks Shawn!

I have been taking cars to them for a few years now and they have ALWAYS been very fair with their prices and very quick with repairs. My last experience yesterday really blew me away! I needed help getting new CV axles seated in my Tercel. I bought them at Autozone and they were damaged and not seating. They were under warranty, so I was going to return them to Autozone and get a new set for them to install. I was going to have to wait until after work to do this and it would be another day without the car. Without me asking, Jay called Autozone and got the axle exchanges expedited for me and installed them within a couple hours! He really went out of his way to take care of me!

I was so impressed! Honest, cheerful employees, and quality service. I called earlier in the morning to set an appointment to get brakes and rotors done, and they got me right in. As I waited for the work to be done I had the chance to observe for about an hour and a half, and I cannot say enough good things about what I saw! The office and waiting area was clean and comfortable, but what really stood out to me was the exceptional customer service provided to each and every customer. They were quite busy, with many people coming in and quite a few phone calls as well, but instead of being rushed and short with people, Jay was gracious and cheerful the entire time, and made each person feel important. They are not out to gouge on price or upsell either, they are straightforward and honest. A woman came in to have something looked at on her road trip from AZ to WA, and when he told her that there was no cost for the inspection since no work needed to be done, she was stunned and I thought she was going to cry, it just meant so much to her. If you want to take your vehicle to a shop that is honest and cares about the work that they are doing, go here! I will definitely be bringing all of my business here in the future.

Master Muffler is a business that I would have initially given a 5 star rating to. I still believe that despite the poor quality of service, they deep down don't intend to mess up as badly as they do but due the number of issues I feel like they have now earned a 1 star review. I decided to bring my Jeep Wrangler in for repairs because they treated my girlfriend right when she brought her van in last year. They were honest about what was urgent and what repairs were not immediately necessary and LAST YEAR they seemed to do a good job. This year however was a very different situation. My Jeep has been back in 3 times to repair the mistakes they made the first time it went in. Each time the Jeep was worse off than when it initially went in. Not only that, but the first time I went back for warranty repairs they “found” another issue (very minimal leaking radiator hoses) that could have easily been cause the first time I went in when they were working on the front of the Jeep, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and paid them to fix the leaking hoses. This experience had been time consuming and a huge inconvenience resulting in the need to take time off work to bring my Jeep in more than once for urgent repairs (covered under warranty), I've had to find other ways to get to work when my Jeep was getting repaired and I've had to cancel or change plans that were very important to me to accommodate that need for warranty repairs. There is absolutely no excuse for a vehicle to have to be brought in 3 times to repair the same things over and over again. I was going to let this slide and skip the review but as I was getting off work today my girlfriend sent me a text saying her van was back up at Master Muffler. We had brought it in a couple weeks ago to repair a leak and guess what? It was leaking again and they were fixing it under warranty because the part they had ordered “didn't come with the clip” it should have so they didn't install one. I feel like maybe with a pretty good rating they are getting more business than they can handle and rushing simple repairs resulting in bigger issues. They seem happy to fix their mistakes over and over again under warranty, so that's alright but I am now left with no confidence in the repairs and I now have to live with the stress from wondering when the repairs will fail next. Or maybe wondering if the failed repairs caused more damage or issues that will impact me later. I seriously hope to never have to go back to Master Muffler again!

Really honest mechanic and super friendly staff. I usually work with Jay and Shawn who are super polite and nice. Last time I took my vehicle here Shawn noticed break fluid leaking. While it ended up being an expensive repair that had to get finished Shawns approach was that of concern for my saftey and offered to repair another item for free. He doesnt use scare tactics and will be honest if it is a vital repair or if its something that isnt needed. I can trust his team with my vehicles. Highly recommend this place.

It turns out it was just a dirty battery terminal and they cleaned it and didn't charge me for the labor at all. Then when we took it elsewere to have emissions done, it failed so I had to take it to a different mechanic which cost me more money because your mechanic failed to re-hook up 2 hoses comng from the evaporative canister which cost me more money. I recently bought two catalytic converter online but, one of the catalytic converter did not fit on my 2001 Mazda Tribute because of the way the weld the seems together block my CV axle from going back on. Did safety and emissions and had a coupon from their website. Fast, friendly, honest. Overall, I️t was an excellent experience. Safety can be so annoying because some places will fail you because they think there’s a poop stain somewhere (to make a few bucks). Not the case here, they did great.

This place was very honest and only recommended the repairs I actually needed not what I didn't just to up the repair bill. They were very friendly, fast, honest, and beat any price around. I won't go anywhere else when it comes to my auto repairs and state inspections.

We. Love. This mechanic. We've lived in the area a few years now and have gone to Master Muffler for all our vehicle needs, and they've always been amazing. The staff is unbelievably friendly, and they're real with you-- never trying to up-sell you or tell you something is broken when it isn't. They even remember who we are, even though we've only gone in a handful of times! I think this Master Muffler is something that will keep us in the Bountiful area for a long time, because it's so hard to find a quality mechanic with great prices and amazing service.
