These guys are very helpful and not too busy to get your work done unlike Les Schwab. Gill's fixed a flat for me in 25 minutes whereas Les was going to be 3 hours. Also Gill's sells name brand tires for less than Les Schwab no name brand.

Gil’s Point S has always provided me with professional and friendly service. I’ve been taking my Toyota 4 Runner there for routine maintenance for years now and have not had any issues. Jose and the rest of the crew are knowledgeable and will take good care of your vehicle. There’s also some sort of rewards program so every once in a awhile I get an oil change for free!

I bring all my work vehicles, personal cars and wife's car here. It's nice to actually find an honest shop that doesn't nickel and dine you and are upfront with their costs. Went to les Schwab for my wife's suv they said it was multiple things quoted $1200.00. Took it to here they pulled everything apart found that the only issue was a bearing and needed new brakes due to the bearing being bad. Had her suv up and running in 2 days and half the price. Looked over everything that was quoted from les Schwab and found nothing what they claimed just a bad bearing. She has been driving on it for a year and running like a champ. These guys are awesome!

Reliable folks over here. Was recommended to Gill’s Point S by a friends whose cycling team is sponsored by them. They were able to change my tires within an hour, granted the tires that I had purchased were what they had on hand. Needless to say the people were friendly, knowledgeable, easy to understand, quick and efficient. I’ll be going to them from now on but hopefully not too soon!

I took my van in for what I thought was going to be tie-rods and a sensor or two. The engine light was a simple fix and the front-end was much more than tie-rods. The guys at Gills Point S explained everything to me and took care of it all. My van has never driven so well and I have never been happier with it. These guys really know their stuff! I have been going here for over 5 years, and just last month I took my baby, a 96 F250 4 Door 4X4 Short Bed Turbo Diesel truck in for an alignment. I replaced my steering box/gear my self, but you need the right equipment to do a good alignment. They not only did a perfect alignment, but they also found and fixed a problem caused by a different repair shop. These trucks are rather particular when it comes to their front ends, but the St. Johns Tire Factory handled it perfectly, keeping me in the loop all the way, and charging me a great price too. It's hard to beat getting great work AND a great price! I recommend them, and that says a lot.

Spencer spent a lot of time explaining options for new tires. The work was done in an efficient and timely manner. They called and left a message for me but didn't answer when I called back. They had called to advise me that the car needed alignment as well but didn't leave that in the message. I was happy to derermine they had time to perform the alignment the same day, even though it meant leaving the car there a few extra hours.

This is a great small tire shop! Backed by a large regional warranty but locally owned. We mounted tires to see how they looked on the car, checked clearances, and then mounted the next size up which looked so much better! This was a fun place to shop for tires. The environmentally responsible Finnish Nokian winter tires are the way to go!!

I had never thought of Gills Point S Tire in St. John's as an oil change place, but on my last visit there I saw they changed oil, so I went there today (Saturday July 21, 2018). They fit me in to their busy schedule and gave me a call when it was done. I went, paid, and while walking to my car, noticed they used the wrong oil for my car (5-30 instead of 5-20). No biggie. They drained it and re-filled it with the correct oil in about 10 minutes. They said they'd take $10 off my next oil change. Cool. I drove it home. After dinner I decided to check the oil to make sure they filled it properly. Guess what? They didn't put the cap back on my engine. They're closed until Monday morning. What to do? I sent them a message through FB. The owner answered back and then called me. It's nearly 7PM on Saturday night and the owner is bringing a new oil cap and a full refund to my home. I don't know of any other business that would do this. *******UPDATE July 2019****** Since I wrote the original review I've had a lot of work done by Gills Point S. I take my cars here first and they're always up to the task. They replaced the radiator and replaced the oil pressure sensor in my F150, replaced the drive line in the Touareg, completed the 90K-mile service on the Matrix, and have kept the oil fresh in all 3 vehicles. Fast, competent, trustworthy, and convenient. Why would I go anywhere else?

Late posting this review, they earned it. One of the wheels on my Mazda was slightly dented, so I picked up a replacement at the junk yard and brought it to Gills Point to have the tire switched to the new wheel. Left the car with them for the afternoon. They took care of it and rotated my tires.... FREE OF CHARGE. I was speechless, and will absolutely be coming back next time the need arises.

My understanding of buying tires at Point S is that if you get a flat, you can have it fixed at any Point S location. For Free. This is not the store I bought the tires for a family members car, but they live closer to this location and went here. I wouldn't have minded even if they charged me. The tire has plenty of tread on it, but is starting to show wear on the outside edges. I was told that they wouldn't fix it, and I needed to buy a new one. It was just a nail in the center where there is plenty of tread left. Obviously there business model is to push people into buying new tires. Beware! I went out to the Point S I usually go to at SE 176th and Division and they fix it without saying a word about the wear.

I love this shop! Let me list the reasons: 1) When I first called for a brake estimate on my 2005 T&C minivan last year, they didn't speak down to me just because I'm female (this was a problem with several other shops that I called). 2) When I took the van in, they were professional and fast. 3) They gave me a list of other concerns with the van and the priority in which I should get them handled with NO pressure to get it done right now at their shop. 4) They want you to get the best bang for your buck. When I came back to get new tires, I told them I was looking at a particular set that was quite spendy. The guy at the counter that day asked why that particular set made by Goodyear and after I gave my reasons, pointed to me a very comparable set at a much lower price point. No regrets! 5) They are HONEST! I had to get the catalytic converter replaced 2 months ago. Took it to a muffler shop because, sadly, they don't handle exhaust work here. I walked out the muffler shop with a long list of codes that the computer was throwing - all of which were listed as critical fixes when I googled them. My first call was to the team at Tire Factory. They said just bring it in for a diagnostic and we'll take a look. When I arrived I gave the list from the muffler shop to the person working the front desk and within a few minutes the mechanic on duty came out to talk to me. He advised that they run their own diagnostic to see what was going on because the codes on the list could add up to at least $1k in repairs and he didn't want to just jump in and do work if it wasn't needed (WOW!). He came back and said that the only code he pulled was for the catalytic converter and that was just replaced and advised that we just clear the codes and see if when the computer finished resetting any other codes came back up. And if they did, to come back. Needless to say - they didn't - the check engine light has stayed off! His diligence and honesty saved me a ton of money and headaches. I would (and have) recommend this shop to anyone looking for an honest and competent mechanic as well as tires.

I called Gills to ask about getting a headlight changed. I originally tried doing the repair myself, but then realized it was best to have a professional handle it. I called Gills and was able to get a same-day appointment. Brian worked with me directly and he was extremely accommodating. By the time I was done with work, the light had been changed! Brian was extremely friendly and professional. I HIGHLY recommend taking your car here for ALL of your repair needs! i went to have a flat tire fixed and they said it wasn't repairable because it had been driven to far when it was flat and the inside side walls were to worn . they said i had to get a new tire. i took the tire to les shwab down the street and they said there was nothing wrong with it and they fixed it for free!!! im not going to go there again, i guess they thought they could get one over on me.

I moved to Portland - St. John’s area about three years ago and someone referred me to Les Schwab. For two years I had lots of issues with their work, alignments, tires and their waiting time is insane. Finally last year a friend referred me to Gills Point. I no longer have issues with the alignment. I had a flat tire this week and they repaired it without an appointment, for free and with no crazy wait time. I will never go anywhere else, they are friendly, have excellent and professional service each and every time.

Tires, brakes, tuneups etc. Recently a woman was overheard complaining about her lawnmower not cranking. It was in her truck. The friendly team pulled it out and had it working in minutes. Not that you should take your lawnmower here (not their job) but they went out of their way to make this person’s experience that much better. Kudos to Lombard Point S!
