Dropped my car off for a thermostat repair, got the car back and there are two new lights on in my car. Never seen a VSA light on in my car, joe the service manager tells me it couldn’t have been his guys as they are different systems. These lights have never been on in my car, I just overpaid for a transmission fluid flush and a thermostat repair, and they don’t even think to tell me there are two new lights on? Seems pretty sketchy to me, I will be going to a different Sullivan tire and will not be paying a dime for this. Not thrilled, received attitude from everyone I spoke with there, should probably treat your paying customers whom you’re ripping off a little better.

The man behind the counter was very helpful he even went out of his way and installed my battery himself because there wasn’t an automotive technician available to do so. He had me on the road in no time flat.

I stopped in for a flat repair. I was greeted promptly and told I'll have to drop off till the end of day. Being 17 hours from home this wasn't an option. The guy behind the glass seemed to have an attitude problem. Being in the industry myself, there is no way in hell I'd ever tell someone it would take 6 hours to repair a flat tire. If I didn't have a guy to do it I would do it myself. After all this is customer service!

Got a screw in my tire on Friday of 4th of July weekend and they got me in after a short wait. Price to fix was inline with any other place. Would recommend.

Rhonda Cleary

Very nice staff. Clean facility. Took a little longer than I thought it would to repair one tire and balance the rest.

Joseph Meehan

Prompt, excellent, reliable service. Did everything that I requested in clean fashion. Will recommend to friends and return for future service. Have relied on them for many years and through many vehicles.

We were on vacation for the weekend and lost our brakes completely - yikes! We were lucky (VERY lucky) to be able to coast right into this Sullivan tire and not only did they fix our brakes right away, they gave us a ride downtown and gave my family maps and a tour to help us enjoy the city while they worked on our car. They turned a bad experience into a fantastic weekend - thank you Sullivan Tire!

Earlier this year I had these guys patch a leak in one of my tires. Six months later the same tire went flat so I brought it back. They said if the issue with the tire was in the same spot or due to their error in patching it the first time then they wouldn't charge me. When I went to pick it up they told me they had found a nail. It was highly unlikely the nail had been in there before and that they missed it, but because there was a slight chance that it had been and they had made the mistake they didn't feel right charging me. My first impressions are that they are super honest, and neighborly. I also felt well respected as a woman who happens to not know a whole lot about how cars work, they were very polite in explaining things to me and I did not feel looked down on or taken advantage of for my femininity and lack of knowledge. I recommend them.

I used to go to Sullivan Tire on Brighton Ave and I will return there. I do not want to go into details but my experience on St. John Street has cost me dearly and I believe I was cheated. But they would not believe me. Oh well, next time I will not go there again.

Took my Jeep here to get new tires. Once they got in there they found that I needed new brakes and that I had a leak in my front axle. They order the parts but found out the axle was a dealership only part which was going to be significantly more $$$. They called around and were able to find me another option and saved $400 +. Even before that they offered me a discount for the inconvenience. Jeep is running great with the new work and tires. Great experience here and will definitely return to have future work done.

Great job in keeping us informed about warranty on item replaced last year. Service done a day before scheduled. Kudos.

Place is a fraud, charged us $60 dollars for a simple oil change. Must be the re used oil they dumped in my car. Will never bring my business here again.

Took my 2013 Sonata in for inspection. I knew the front brake pads were getting low but the rotors and calipers had been serviced by the hyundai dealer a little over a year ago. The car failed inspection, and when I spoke with the service associate they said I needed a drivers side wiper blade, and new front brakes, specifically brake pads and rotors. They estimated it at $536. I recently purchased the vehicle from a family member and I called them to ask about the condition of the rotors, to which they advised me to call back and get more details from Sullivan (because the rotors were allegedly in great shape). After speaking again with a member of the staff it was revealed that when a vehicle has over 80,000 miles and the brake pads need to be replaced, the rotors also have to be replaced as a condition of a manufacturers warranty on parts. They intended to make an unnecessary repair and keep me in the dark about it because of their own business restrictions. This was not communicated to me originally, which makes me wonder how frequently they do this to people who don't know any better. I took the wheels off and replaced the pads for $45. The rotors were in great shape. Got some new wipers for $15, and brought the car back in for re inspection today where it passed no problem. Saved about $475. I gave two stars because the customer service is always friendly, and Sullivan Tire is still good for the basics (oil change, tire replacement/rotation/balancing, alignments). This experience was re-affirmation that these chain mechanics are really good at making money off of the average naive car owner, which is wrong. My advice would be to find a local mechanic that you trust, and if you are forced to go to Sullivan for inspections or repairs, question them on manufacturer agreements and company policies that may prevent them from doing work on your car that is in YOUR best interest and not theirs.

Rick helped me out through my whole process with Sullivan Tire on St. John's Street in Portland, ME. I can't say enough about how professional, helpful and knowledgeable Rick is. His customer service skills are excellent, he has a clear sense of urgency when serving customers and he flew like the wind while working with the computer. He truly cares and is passionate about his job. We need more people like Rick in this world! The shuttle service was also clutch and made for an excellent customer experience. It reduced the stress of having to make the commute to work happen without a car. Anjuli was a great driver!

Nick Medeiros

Very poor service. I dropped off a tire and 3 hours later they haven't even looked at it.

Morgan Gelfand

They tried to charge me $1800 to get my car to pass inspection. Turns out half of it was covered under warranty at the dealer and one thing could be welded instead of new parts ordered and installed. Chip's Service got my car passed inspection for $540 and that was with them catching something else Sullivan missed and telling me about the warranty. Two stars because the girl behind the counter is very nice and polite. Can't fault her for them overcharging me.

Bobby Coombs

What really grinds my gears, nobody there cares they lost a customer today. I set up an appointment a week and half prior to have 2 new tires put on my vehicle. I showed up at the agreed upon "bright and early 7:30am." When I arrived we had to go over steps I could've finished on my initial start up. Because of that mistake I was already set back and the tires needed to be shipped from the warehouse, nearby. No big deal. When I asked if my tires would be done by 3pm (8 hours later) I was informed that they most likely would not be done because of "so many appointments." I left and got my tires done at a family establishment and paid less in 2 hours time.

I can't say enough good things about Sullivans. It's difficult having a son in college who is over 1,000 miles away and drives a car. First break down was the water pump and the 2nd time he had 2 flat tires. Both times, they were busy and over booked, but were able to squeeze him in so that he had his car (day before Thanksgiving...). When talking to them over the phone, they were very friendly and accommodating. Thank you!

Oguzhan Ozkan

Good service.

Friendly staff. Went there for a tire repair which took almost an hour. You could hear the air coming out and feel it as well. When we left the shop we got our 4 kids, watched a seadogs game and headed to NH. Went flat again 15 minutes down the road so put more air in and could still hear amd feel where the air was coming out, but they were already closed. Drove another 20 minutes and it was flat again. Put some fix a flat in it and more air. Made it to NH and it went flat again so had to get help to change it. Ended up getting home in 3 hours instead of 1.

In from out of town on a Saturday, every other service place was too busy to get me in for a problem with the driver's side seat belt. Being that I could not use the seatbelt at all, I felt like this was a bit of an emergency. Rick and the guys got me in immediately and were able to fix the problem in 5 minutes. Being that it ended up being such an easy fix, they didn't charge me a thing! These guys are consummate professionals and go above and beyond what is expected from an auto service center, all the while knowing that they would likely never see me again. I could not recommend them more highly. Keep up the great work!

Mis-judged a broken sway bar for bad tie rods during an inspection. I spent a lot of time running around to mechanics to get the tie rod fixed... Turns out they were fine and the sway bar was snapped instead. After getting the fixes needed elsewhere they assumed ownership of the misjudgements and were going to give me my inspection sticker at no charge beyond the 30 day period of original inspection. Since the time it took to replace all parts the brake rotors now need to be fixed before a sticker can be given... Had the correct problem been identified... we may have passed the inspection... The saga continues and we will update our review accordingly upon full resolution of the long winded inspection.

Alan Platner

Certainly a busy location but they still provide prompt service. If you know you have some service contact them sooner rather than later to get a time that works for you. They do schedule accurate appointments so for regular service you don't have to leave your vehicle all day.

To women living in the Portland area who have had bad experiences dealing with car repair: the people at Sullivan Tire on St. John Street were approachable and informative. No patronizing attitudes here. The work I had done on my car was explained to me (in advance) as were my options and prices. Will never service my car anywhere else!

Chena Immel

i'm so happy i found this place! i've had several bad experiences in the past with dishonest and incompetent mechanics, but then i was referred to sullivan by some very satisfied co-workers, and i can see why...they are clearly very good at what they do, and their customer service is top notch...recently, i had to go in to get something fixed, and they discovered after i had dropped off my car and gone to work that the manufacturer had listed the wrong parts for the assembly, so they wouldn't be able to fix my car that day, and i would have to bring it back again when the parts they now had to order had arrived...when i picked up my car after getting the work completed a couple days later, they apologized again for the inconvenience and told me there would be no charge...i would happily recommend these folks to anyone who has a car:)

Cody Hussey

Rick and the team are friendly and honest when it comes to repairs. Although I've not had to use it, they'll offer a shuttle to your destination after drop off. They also have a waiting room with Coffee and other snacks available in a vending machine.

Christopher Bunnell

Dishonest and sleazy. They attempted to turn a $19.99 tire repair in to a $1,400 replacement of all 4 tires by telling us the tire could not be repaired and that if we replaced a single tire that it would "destroy the transmission." Paulins, around the corner fixed the tire for $19.99 and had us on our way in 30 minutes.

Brianna Greene

The guys working there where so nice. I happen to be driving a long distance and a light on my car came on that I wasn't familiar with. I asked them for help. The told me my tire was low. They filled them and didn't even charge me. I really appreciated knowing my car was safe.

They damaged my body kit on the lift. No disrespect to the staff, they are knowledgeable. Staff was apologetic, but no compensation was offered. Be warned if you have any aftermarket cars or trucks, it may not be the place to go. It was an undesirable outcome for me, hopefully this saves someone else a similar experience.

Mark W Call

Wonderful service and friendly knowledgeable staff. They even kept my car inside during the storm so when I just picked it up there was no snow on it at all.

I just bring my 2006 Ford Expedition they give me great deal for amount of work must be done. Thanks guys. Special thanks for Mike.

I had gone to Sullivan Tire last weekend for an oil change. They always check out the whole car and give you a report card of maintenance that you might want . I was surprised that I was not told about the suggested maintenance and that I had a tail light out. Monday morning I called to say that I had received their survey and I wanted to speak to them before I filled out the survey. I explained that I was disappointed because I had always received such great service. I was asked to bring my car back and they would recheck it and replace the tail light for free. I did and It was a wonderful experience . Joe the owner was wonderful. I guess everyone is allowed a " hickup," . I will continue to bring my vehicles to Sullivan Tire in Sandwich and I do recommend them to you.

I needed two new tires, they were less expensive than Tirerack for the same tires installed. On Sullivan's web site, I ordered the tires and set up the appointment. Everything was done on schedule. Great service!

Patricia Colvard

I always was skeptical of Sullivan Tire. They have those commercials and those billboards. So naturally, you'd think trying too hard. Desperation? Not! Was I wrong. Yowsers! So here's my story: I needed snow tires. Called NTB. Ring. Ring. Ring.. Seriously? Called back, someone picks up CAN YOU HOLD? Seriously????? Call Town Fair Tire. Same thing. You know what I'm talking about. You see it when you go there. People on the phone for 20 minutes at a time. Customer standing there. No one helps them. Well get this, Sullivan Tire actually has a SEPARATE customer service department. What a concept? How the other tire places stay in business is beyond me. If you need tires, Sullivan Tires is the place to go. And I will NEVER GO BACK TO NTB OR TOWN FAIR FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. PERIOD. END OF STORY.

judith motzkin

Flat tire going over the bridge. They took me in and got me fixed up with two new tires before closing. No choice of tire, but hey, I was stuck.

Good value and timeliness!!!

Great service and super friendly. Most importantly they are honest!

Every time I come here, I’m quoted for work that’s not needed. At one point, I needed my tie rods replaced, quoted $900 in total with a tie rod of $125 a piece when tie rods for my vehicle aren’t even that expensive. Went to a local mechanic and had the work done for $150, tie rods bought for $30 from O’Reillys. If you’re looking for honest work where they won’t try and nickel and dime you, go local. Also, set up an appt for an oil change, took OVER an HOUR. Highly disappointed.

Holly Hendricks

I love taking my car to this Sullivan Tire on St. John's street in Portland! Gary is awesome and he is so nice and knowledgable! He really listens to me when I am explaining what's wrong with my car, and he fixes the problem right away! I got 4 new tires here also and the price was the lowest in the area! I highly recommend this Sullivan Tire! Gary is super nice and helpful and I am a customer for life now!! : )

Joey Hendricks

Service was quick and easy, and the workers there were extremely nice and helpful. I'd recommend this place to everybody
