They really do treat you like family! I went for an emissions inspection. They were done in less then 10 minutes. They noticed that my car was overheating a bit and asked me about it and I had no idea what was going on only that I had to refill the coolant too frequently. They told me to pull the car in the back where they gave me more coolant and a mechanic named Greg noticed that there might be an air pocket in the heating/cooling system (no idea what that means). I always thought I had to have the AC on to get heat, but it was only because I had an air pocket. Their help and advice (at no charge) potentially saved me lots of money. I highly reccomend them.

They are the only people that we trust with our cars. Brian has always been honest and fair and we very much respect his expertise and perspective on our vehicles. I recently had a problem with the latch on the hood of my car and had to make the long 2+ hour drive home. It happened suddenly and I was nervous about my safety making the drive home. We were on a long trip when the rear tire developed a leak. I was able to limp into a gas station that recommended Modern tire in Rocky Hill. Horrible service! I called on a Monday to talk to someone about doing an alignment with custom specs for my car which is used for autocross and the guy on the phone, Brian I think his name is didn't seem like he wanted my business (he assumed because my car is a little lower than stock that it wouldn't be possible when anyone who knows anything about cars knows that this is wrong). He made me an appointment for 9am the next Saturday and when I got there was asked to leave my car all day! He didn't even come outside to look at the car, he was too busy with other things. Now I lost 6 days I could have been using to find a place that will actually give me a straight answer. What is the point of making an appointment when you are going to ask me to leave my car all day?!?!?! AVOID this place because they honestly do not care about their potential customers.

I brought my car into Modern Tire in Farmington CT today for emissions testing. I was in and out in a brief period of time. The manager Bryan and his crew are very professional. The waiting area is clean and you can watch TV while you wait. I would highly recommend this faciity for emissions testing esp if you are short on time.

I have been using Modern for several years now and I would recommend them to anyone. When we have any issues with our vehicles, we call first thing in the morning and they tell us to bring it in, even if we don't have an appointment. Usually, they diagnose the problem within hours and call us back with a clear explanation of the issues and what problems need to be fixed to get us back on the road. Fantastic service!

Positively awful experience with this business a few years ago. A simple brake job took over 6 hours. They overbooked customers without enough staff to complete work in a reasonable amount of time. The guy at the front desk was condescending and obnoxious. It was my first and last time ever going here. Check out the other 1 star reviews. My experience is not unique. I truly hate this place! Update: A few months ago family members went to Modern Tire (without my knowledge) for an issue with the exhaust. Before the work was performed the manager agreed to "help them out" with the final bill. Sure enough they were charged some outrageous amount and only after complaining was the bill reduced. Remember, as soon as you hand over your keys to these guys the only way to get them back is to pay your invoice (they know that - you are not negotiating anything from a position of strength at that point). Looking back on my brake job, I have no doubt they took advantage of me too but I was not savvy enough to catch it. How is this place still in business? These guys are the worst - taking your car anywhere but here is literally the best decision you can make. They could offer me free oil changes (free anything...) to infinity and I wouldn't come within 10 miles of this place.

Great! I didn't have experience with the tires or anything, but they replaced my wife's bulbs in her headlights for free (we gave them the bulbs) after I couldn't for the life of me get the bulbs out without feeling like I'd break something. A little kind gesture goes a long way. We'll be going back next time we need something done.

I have nothing but things to say about my experience here. One morning on my way to work, I had put oil in my car and halfway there realized I had forgotten to put the cap back on. I stopped in to ask if they sold them or knew of a nearby place that does and they didn't have any on hand but one of the employees gave me his from his personal car! Not only did they give me the cap free of charge when I was fully prepared to pay, they also gave my car a quick check to be sure it was safe to drive. Extremely kind, and what drove me to take my car there when I began to have engine problems. At that visit, they got me in earlier than expected which worked out best for my personal schedule. They also quoted me at one price, but where able to find cheaper parts at a full $200 cheaper. Excellent service, I cannot thank them enough. Timely, polite, helpful, and fair prices. I will be returning the next time my car needs any sort of work. Thank you!!

Dwayne and the team really came in clutch for me today. After traveling a few hours home for a business trip, I got a flat tire on the side of the highway. Once towed to this location I was taken care of right away. They took me in with no appointment towards the end of the work day. After getting my car up on the lift, Dwayne and the team psychically walked me through the issue and explained what needed to happen to ensure it is resolved. How many places do you know that make sure the customer is informed on what is needed and how they will fix it? Not many that Ive dealt with. It was also really neat that they film the issue with your car and then send it to you for your personal records. I’ve never had a place do that but I feel all places should. They worked quickly and I was in and out in no time. I was pleasantly surprised at how little time it took to be honest. I am so grateful Dwayne and the team were sympathetic to my situation and got me back on the road to continue my journey home as fast as they did. They will never truly understand how much that compassion and hard work means to me so that I could just end this nightmare of a day. Thank you to Dwayne and the team for saving the day!

Greg, the technician that did my tires, was extremely conscientious, diligent, and obviously took great pride in his work. This place ROCKS!! Super friendly staff, clean waiting room, prompt and reliable service. My headlight sensor in my car was suggesting that my headlight was out. I went in with no appointment and Dwayne Sumier took me right away. He told that I might have to wait a bit as they had many cars ahead of me, but he took my car right away, found out that my lightbulb was loose, fixed it and sent me on my way within 15 minutes. I will definitely go back for my oil change and brakes in the near future...if you go, ask for Dwayne.

I used to love Modern Tire because I thought their service was the best around, especially after I realized that the previous repair shop that I'd bring my car to in the area wasn't finishing the repair work that they said they'd do. In the last few months, though, Modern Tire started to take advantage of my trust, loyalty, and general unfamiliarity with cars. First, they were asked to repair something on my driver's side (I won't say what as I'm trying to remain somewhat anonymous), with the total bill being several hundred dollars. I was told that it would cost this much because something else needed to be completely replaced. I had no reason to question this. But later, when I needed additional work done (I won't say what as I'm trying to remain anonymous), they fixed the problem, but then a second problem popped up a couple days later after I got my car back. That second problem wasn't discovered or fixed when they addressed the first problem. They told me that the second problem would cost around $1,000 to fix. I got suspicious and went somewhere else for another opinion. Not only did the new mechanic not concur with Modern Tire's assessment, but when I brought the car back to Modern Tire, they no longer stuck to their original diagnosis of the second problem and instead identified another solution that would cost significantly less. Shady and suspicious. I'm deeply disappointed in the inability to trust Modern Tire. Who has time to always get a second (or third) opinion?

Wow! Errible experience. I scheduled an appointement for having my tires changed, confirmed the appointment in the morning of the service. I went to drop off the car and the manager Bryan told me that i had to wait 1 and a half to at least 2 hours beyond my scheduled time, so they could start working on my car, just as if it was nothing. Amazing on how these people are still in business. Don't count on getting anything done on the scheduled time with them. I will NEVER consider them even ith they were the last tire and car shop in Connecticut.

I have taken my family cars here for over a decade. This week I got an oil change and was given a $1,200 estimate for to repair the air compressor. Today I was given a quote for $350 for the same job but when the car was on the lift it was discovered that the compressor was fine. The one star is for the nice people who used to work at Modern Tire. I don't know if they were honest, but they were nice.
