Jes is the BEST Tattoo artist I've been to. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE my tattoo. He has a very gentle hand, and great Personality. I hardly felt him on my skin. I'm looking forward to going back next year for him to give me one of my Bearded dragon, Pete. Iron Quill in general is clean, their staff is welcoming, chatty and super friendly. I could've stayed here and hung out for hours. Thank you Jes!!

Experience with Jes left a bad taste in my mouth. Didn't remember our consult , started significantly late, had some sort of weird shop drama going on. Canceled 2nd session day of an hour before the appointment promising to come in on a weekend to make it up. Then proceeded to dodge my calls and ignore texts. Finally got in to finish my piece 3 months later after I called the shop. Similar to the first session he started almost 2 hours late. Tattoo came out nice but won't be back. Understand I might have caught him on some bad days... but he just kind of came off like a jerk . In fairness. The shop is clean, they use good products (the redemption aftercare they give you is the bee's knees), and some really talented tattooers here. There are better less flakey places to drop money though.

I had the most AMAZING experience with tattoo artist Brandon Eden. I brought in my logo from my podcast which is a tricky, small lined design and he did beautiful work. The shop has the best vibe as well. It was such a positive experience. I highly recommend Brandon's work and the shop!

Even though I made some very last minute changes we had a very productive day. This is some of the best black and grey work I’ve seen it reads well, has detail where needed. I paid 100 dollars and I missed my appointment, I made a follow up call but I was not able to reach the Tattoo artist I planned with. I didnt get my money back and I didnt get a tatto that would have cost 500 dollars. Apparently they dont service many people of color?? Just my personal feelings after that encounter and I shall never go to them again.

I just finished up a Doctor Who sleeve with Jes (4 sessions over 4 months). Words cannot express how amazing it was to work with Jes. I gave him a few general ideas/wants and what he was able to do with those ideas absolutely blows my mind. I am in love with my tattoo!!! The shop is very comfortable, clean and is truly full of amazing artists. You won't find a better shop in this city. Just visited Iron Quill again at their new location on the West Side and got some work done by Janelle. I could not be more impressed -- Janelle's work is amazing and she is very gentle on the skin. She was able to capture everything that I wanted in my memorial piece and while I was getting tattooed, she kept conversation going and in general, is such a fun person to be around. You won't be disappointed in this shop!

I just got a cover up from Jake yesterday. I have several tattoos and this is the best tattoo I have ever gotten (or even seen)! Even if it hadn't been a cover up, it would be a work of art, but the skill with which he executed the placement to cover a dark, very saturated ink tattoo is amazing. He blended the colors and added small touches of color in places I had never seen an artist try and the result is nothing short of beautiful. I used to walk around and think "I have some nice tattoos." Now, I think "I have a tattoo that would win awards at a convention." Jake is a true artist who works in the medium of tattoos. He really knows his stuff. I recommend that anyone going to him for a consult take his advice -- you'll be glad you did, even if he suggests something a little different than what you had in mind. I'm glad I listened to him! For as long as I live in this area, I know who I'll go to for every tattoo I get!

I am new to Madison. I spent 30 minutes in rush hour traffic check out this supposedly best tattoo parlor in Madison. If a tattoo parlor will not do the tattoo you would like to have done because of their mistaken idea that you HAVE to use black ink in your tattoo, as per their HIGH STANDARD POLICY, then I have to walk out the door with a very negative attitude toward this place. I have many tattoos, some without black ink that are amazing, and the ink did not "spread" once the tattoo was healed. A tattoo artist's job is to accommodate the customer and do their best give them the tattoo no matter what. Needless to say, I will never use Iron Quill Tattoo parlor, it was a waste of my valuable time to check them out, and I WILL find a BETTER place in Madison that will make my tattoo request a reality and be glad to do it. WITHOUT USING BLACK INK! I am forced to give you one star to post this.

I had a great experience, and felt very comfortable being worked on, despite being my first tattoo. My artist, Sogdiana, was amazing, she took a crude drawing I brought in and made it into something great! :) Her detail work and line work was really amazing! She put little dots in this tiny flower and detail in tiny leaves. Extremely skilled and very cute!

Amazing. Awesome. Rad. Fantastic. The best shop not just in Madison but also in Wisconsin and I’m yhe Midwest (for me, in the world). It took me a long time to get my 1st tattoo (38 years) as I never knew what to get. When I finally did, I looked and asked around and Iron Quill stood out. I could write a page about IQ but I doubt anyone would read it, it’s just the best shop. Hands down. All the artists (Jes, Janelle, Andy, Sogdiana, and Brandon) are amazingly talented and very friendly, as are Amy & Rachel. Plus, they frequently have guest artists from all over come and tattoo. It feels like a second home for me. I’ve never once thought about going anywhere else for the stunning forever artwork. All my expectations have been exceeded and keep coming back for more!!!

I went there last week to get a tattoo. I was charged for 4 hours, but I was only tattooed for approx 2 hours. I spent the other 2 hours waiting for my artist while he took smoke breaks and a lunch break. I do not feel I should be paying for someone to smoke or eat. I am paying for their time to tattoo me. The tattoo came out nicely but I will not be back. I feel like I kinda got screwed over and of course I was too nervous to say anything while there.

Loved my tattoo experience at Iron Quill! I traveled from IL to have Andy tattoo me at Iron Quill. I emailed all my tattoo ideas to Jake the Owner and he was very informative the whole way through. When walking in the door of Iron Quill my husband and I were politely greeted by Jake! Right off the back we got a sense of a clean and professional atmosphere. Andy did my tattoo and he was wonderful to work with! My original idea for a tattoo didn’t work. Andy was great at letting me know what will look good as I age. He was very patient and really wanted to make a tattoo that I was going to love. He didn’t try and push for what he thought would look good. He ultimately came up with a beautiful design for me and my tattoo couldn’t have turned out more perfect! And pricing was more than reasonable! I will forever be a client of Andy’s and will be referring all my friends!
