I had both arms done which took two sessions , so it was nice to have an artist that was laid back and super easy to talk to as well as very talented! Not my first ink session, but my first session with Colts. Cory C did a great job working up my design/idea while keeping the specific nuances that I wanted. Very real dude which I truly appreciate. Sitting down for a couple 2-3 hour tattooing sessions is basically therapeutic, so I like to get to know my artist and feel like I’m hanging out with a real human being while they turn me into a walking canvas for their piece. I will be returning to Cory at Colts.

I went here to have my Nipples pierced. The entire shop was a little dismissive of me and just sort of rushed me through the process. I was pierced be ALBERT. After 2 weeks nothing felt right with my piercings I decided to go back into the shop to say something, never had any intention of letting Albert touch my body again. Albert wasn't in went somewhere else, to have my jewelry changed, and they told me the jewelry put in (bent barbells) were completely wrong and that my body was going to eventually force the jewelry out because of this. When I returned to complain and ask for my money back because of their poor work and negligence I was basically told to kick rocks because I had them changed somewhere else. I had an issue and they didn't care at all about fixing it because they got my money. This is a place that doesn't care about their customers and running a respectable business. Untrustworthy and unprofessional business all the way around

Her designs are so creative and thoughtful and she really listens to what you're looking for in a tattoo and is just a lovely, welcoming person to talk to while being tattooed. Compared to other tattoo shops I've been to in Madison, Colt's was more organized and professional, they communicated well and I didn't have to wait around for them to get set up or finish my design.

It healed easily after each session, and turned out exactly how I wanted it to. I'll be coming back here for a second.

I moved to Madison recently and looked for a new tattoo artist, not an easy task. I'm glad I found Timeless Tattoos! I had a design in my head that I couldn't translate into a drawing, a watercolor tattoo with bold line tulips. Maggie was my artist and I e-mailed her a few pictures with what I liked about each picture. The drawing that Maggie came up with left me speechless. This is my 7th tattoo and this is the first time I've ever been left speechless looking at the end product. Maggie is amazing and great to work with. One of the best parts was trying to decide Prince or Bowie. Everyone who has seen my tattoo is floored with how beautiful and realistic is looks. Cannot recommend them enough at Timeless!

I have received two photorealistic tattoos by Josiah Schmelzer, and they both turned out phenomenal. Josiah is one of the most skilled artists I have ever seen; when it comes to color, detail, and precision, he is the best! Not to mention his warm personality, and modesty. I never once got the “I can do anything because I’m better” vibe, but rather a “I can do anything with enough practice and effort” vibe, and that makes a world of difference. He is very easy to talk to and get along with and the time spent being tattooed feels a lot like hanging out. He is always willing to work your idea into your budget if cost has become an issue, but makes sure to keep the original vision intact, albeit affordable. Although I would not suggest him to first time tattooies or people who are not used to pieces that are extremely detailed (but if that’s what you’re looking for, and hopefully it is, go ahead and stop looking for an artist now, you’ve found him). Josiah’s technique is unique because he doesn’t start with outlines, as a matter of fact plenty of his works aren’t outlined at all! He just jumps right into the tattoo starting with bits of color here and there and boom! Before you know it, he’s putting on the finishing touches to another beautiful piece. I have seen this to be not only effective, but fun as the end product doesn’t take shape until the end and that anticipation is just thrilling. After getting to know him and getting smaller (but with no less precision to detail) tattoos, I’m looking forward to putting together some inspiration for my first portrait and could not be more confident in my choice for an artist. Five stars!

If you are looking for quality tattoo work, professional and friendly interactions, and meticulous attention to detail, there is nowhere else to go other than Colt's Timeless Tattoos. I was tattooed by Noah MacDonald and he worked hard to make the experience extremely positive. I went in with a pretty good idea of what I wanted done, and Noah thoughtfully worked with me to put his professional artist's touch into my design. We ended up with a design that incorporated everything I originally wanted in the piece, but improved significantly with Noah's input. Noah's approach is not to hear your idea and then tell you how it needs to be tattooed. Rather, Noah hears what you want and works with you to create a beautiful piece of artwork that will fit and function as you want, while contributing his skill and expertise to the piece. He also talks you through the entire process, explaining what he's doing at every step, and answering any questions you might have along the way. Extremely grateful! Extremely satisfied! Thank you!

I absolutely love this place. I went in for a tattoo there about a year ago after having a few not so fantastic experiences at Blue Lotus, and I swear I will never go anywhere else. The customer services there is excellent; everyone is very nice and enjoyable to interact with. On top of that they do amazing work. Josiah has done two of my tattoos and counting and I am always blown away. It is also very easy to see that the other artists there are phenomenal as well. I highly recommend Colt's Timeless Tattoos; it's a great experience all around.

Hate to give a low rating but as someone who works in the service industry myself, I know how important it is to make a great first impression. Me and my husband stopped in (on 9-1-15) to check out local artists work, ask questions and just get an all around feel for a tattoo shop we want to go to. We walked in, sat down and started looking through portfolios. The guy at the front desk was talking with around woman and an artist was in the back drawing up a tattoo. We sat there for over 10 mins, no one saying a word to us, not even a "hi, I'll be right with you." As we stood up to leave, THEN the front desk guy says, "Is there something I can help you with?" By then the first impression was not a good one and didn't make us feel very welcome. Which stinks cause we stopped originally due to the high rates here on Google. Hopefully due to this rating, they work on their customer service skills so the next person gets a different experience then we did.

Best. Tattoos. Ever. Been there twice, for both of my tattoos. Everyone working there is super friendly and knowledgeable. Plus, they are damn good artists. Marc did both of my tattoos, and they are spectacular. Everyone who sees them compliments me on how cool they look. He has a really unique style and if you're looking for a hella unique color tattoo, he's your man. Josiah is an amazing artist, I've been in the shop while he's been tattooing and the stuff he does is spectacular. I've seen a couple of tattoos by Noah and they are wicked. Same goes for Albert. All in all, awesome shop, artists are great, friendly atmosphere, fabulous artwork, and cheaper than blue lotus. Also, they aren't assholes which is a breath of fresh air, cough cough blue lotus cough cough.

Campus Ink is fantastic! Marc is a great artist and has really helped me bring some great custom tattoo ideas to life. I tend to mostly be interested in very large, complex pieces, and Marc has done some really amazing work creating cohesive and dynamic whole-leg and full sleeve designs for me. I love the laid-back environment, and all the artists are cool people who are fun to chat with and watch work. I rarely have a week go by without a stranger pulling me aside to compliment my tattoos and ask where I got them, and I am always happy to point them to Campus Ink, knowing that they’ll definitely be happy with what they get. Many of my friends and coworkers have had tattoos done there, and all of them have nothing but good things to say about the quality and their experiences.

This last year, I decided that I finally wanted to move forward to get the tattoo that I have wanted to get since my Grandfather passed away about 8 years ago. Because this was my first tattoo, I went in having a lot of questions, extremely high expectations, and was honestly anxious about what to expect. I had tried to work with other tattoo artists in the past but didn't feel like I had the best connection to get what I wanted. At Colt's, I worked with Maggie Gosselar, who was extremely professional. She worked with me to find a design that represented what I wanted in a form that would be timeless; I really didn't want a tattoo that would be similar to what other people would have or said to be trendy. This was a feat because I ended up getting a tattoo of a feather. Maggie spent time consulting me and drawing on me to find the perfect placement and design that worked for me. She listened to what I wanted and needed, took into consideration what this tattoo meant for me, and talked me through what I needed to know in order to not only take care of the tattoo but to keep me calm during the actual tattoo session. For a tattoo that has such an extreme amount of detail, Maggie worked quickly and finished with something that I never would have expected to be so great. I had extremely high expectations of what I wanted and Maggie blew me away with what she produced. I get stopped at least once a week to have people compliment the tattoo and ask for the artist. Maggie is in high-demand as an artist for a reason; she produces amazing artwork and cares about the art and people she is working with. I plan on working with her again in the future.

I've had nothing but wonderful experiences at Colt's. I've had three tattoos done by Maggie Gosselar. Her work is incredible and she really takes the time to nail down exactly what you want. She is extremely patient, personable, and warm. Her art is delicate, bold, illustrative and alive. She enjoys trying new things, and she's capable of quite a breadth of different expressions and styles . My most recent piece was very painful; Maggie was exceptionally sensitive to my needs and a great cheerleader to encourage me through the worst of it. I felt - and always feel - very cared for in her hands, which is something that I feel you really need from someone who is going to do something painful and permanent to your body! She has a lot of love for the human form; skin, muscle and bone make a notoriously difficult canvas and she's very attentive to each body's constraints, beauty, and possibilities. Maggie always makes sure that each tattoo will work and be loved on your body. She would rather make sure that everyone is 1000000000 % satisfied than turn over clients quickly. Even though I'm a bit shy about my body, I always feel comfortable in the shop - not just with her, but with every professional there. I've had positive interactions with the rest of the staff - they're always professional and courteous. Plus it seems like they all have great camaraderie, which just makes the shop feel like a good fun place. The place is always spotless, and it's clear that the staff always has hygiene, safety, and client happiness at the top of their priorities.

I have wanted to get an old tattoo covered up for a couple years now. I knew exactly what I wanted but I couldn’t get it on paper and I wasn’t sure where to go. A good friend recommended to see Albert at Colt’s. I came in for a consult with him, he explained what would work and what wouldn’t with the cover up and he drew up exactly what I wanted. I’ve had two sessions so far. His work is amazing, he’s friendly and comfortable to be around. I’ve already recommended him to multiple people! I’ll definitely be going to him for all of my tattoos! I tried to go here with friends and save money, but it's been more expensive in the long run. The staff is not helpful with piercings. I came in 7 weeks ago for two cartilage piercings. Albert up-charged me $10 per piercing on the spot supposedly because the jewelry was different and more expensive than the ones listed on the sheet at the front desk. I was okay with that because. I would like to trust my piercer, but this was a lie. My jewel keeps falling out, so I went to a different piercer who told me it falls out because the threading is faulty. When it fell out the first time just a few days after my piercing, Campus Ink staff told me they were too busy to put it back in. Now I have to get a new piece for my unhealed piercing.

Alright so I’ve gotten a number of tattoos by Josiah and although I could write a novel about his professionalism, the genuine care he takes to do his best every time, and his attitude and outlook throughout the actual tattooing process, I will keep this review to the only tattoo I received at Timeless Tattoos in Madison, WI. My girlfriend and I had spent four hours in the car to make it in time for us both to be tattooed in the same day (leaving our son with a babysitter all day doesn’t happen frequently) and when we finally got to the shop we were greeted like old friends (like I said, I’ve had the pleasure of getting tattooed by Josiah before he had relocated to Madison) and got down to business. After a short discussion and collaboration, our tattooing began! I can’t speak for my girlfriend (although she did post her own glowing review), so I will skip over the hours we spent while she got tattooed, just chatting about life. After her tattoo (and lunch!) was all done, I got ready for my turn. Finally getting a tattoo I had been wanting for a few years, I was absolutely elated. Josiah was just as excited as I was and it just made the experience even better. He had done his own research and brought his own photos he had liked and between mine and his we settled on a design. Just a few short, relaxed (as relaxed as it could be, at least) hours I had my tattoo and could not be happier with it. Josiah’s willingness to stay late and put in extra time to ensure a great tattoo will not go unappreciated. His talent really speaks for itself so I’m not really going to brush on it but I would recommend anybody and everybody check out his portfolio even if it’s just to see some very nice tattoos. I wish I could do more than just write a review for him and his shop, as they deserve so much more. I never once felt out of place or that I was in any situation less than professional. Josiah takes his job, his artwork, and his reputation very seriously and it could not work out better in my opinion. I really do wish the best for him and his shop and have already began planning our next trip out for more of his artwork!

My tattoo artist is Josiah and he really takes the time to give you exactly what you want and he has amazing talent. I've gotten tattoos before and while they're good quality, I'd say that this is the first time I'd call it a piece of artwork.

I'm heavily tattooed and I've spent a lot of time in tattoo shops. From my experiences I'd say there are a few things to consider when deciding where to get tattooed. You want a clean shop and a good artist. I personally would also prefer to be tattooed in a friendly environment. Colt's has all of these elements. The staff is friendly and you don't have to feel pressured by menacing assholes/local scene pretentious idiot trolls. Noah is my guy and he's a pretty accomplished artist even outside of the tattoo world. If you've spent time in a tattoo chair you'll totally appreciate that he's incredibly efficient and really technically sound. I love the fact that he barely uses his foot pedal. He just goes. I just feel that this is the mark of an actual artist. He has the vision and he doesn't need to constantly reassess the situation. His work speaks for itself. His lines are clean and don't blow out. He's constantly posting pictures on his instagram of healed work. If you know anything about tattooing you know that THAT is the picture you need to see, not the freshly done blood smeared mess. But i digress... So yeah, go to Colt's for a no BS positive tattooing experience. Mark and Josiah are great artists as well.

Wish I could rate my experience lower than one star. I've gone to Colt's Timeless Tattoos in the past, and although I wasn't thrilled with their work, it was fine enough for me. I recently visited again to get my nose pierced. The artist was busy so he told me to come back in 30 min. When I returned about 35 minutes later, the doors were locked and the employees behind the desk refused to open them, even though the artist told us to come back. I tried telling them through the glass that I had permission to come back, but they couldn't hear me. So I called instead. In response, the employees behind the desk mouthed "we're closed, leave" and then flipped me off. They will never have my service again and I made sure to let all my friends know how unprofessional they are. Absolutely unbelievable.

Most tattoo shops do not make you feel welcome, and almost a burden. This place welcomes you with open arms, and makes it a truly genuine experience. I got a tattoo from Noah (several), and each session I have had I barely notice the needle because I am laughing so hard from this hilarious man. Noah is such a righteous human being, and truly is a well rounded artist. He not only will be upfront and honest about body positioning, realistically what the tattoo will look like, and he will never just give you a tattoo for an extra buck. He also has given several of my friends/coworkers/boss tattoos after them seeing the quality work on my body. He is great, his tattoos are beautiful, and he is a wonderful person. The shop matches his amazing work magically.

I'm surprised I didn't see any reviews on David. He just did a matching tattoo for me and my wife and is was awesome!! His lines were insanely perfect!! Really great experience. Awesome fine line work. Wanted to change some colors cuz he said he didn't like the colors and how they flowed together in the pic we sent him. We 100% agree with the artist changes to the drawing.

Words can not describe how happy I am that I chose Timeless Tattoos over any other shop in Madison. From the time I walked in for my consultation, to the time I walked out with my finished piece; it was an overall great experience. A buddy of mine gave me a tattoo on my forearm when we were 16, you can probably imagine my level of regret of getting it now that I’m 24. I worked with Mr.Albert in the back of the shop and boy was he confident about bringing my arm back to life. After taking his time reviewing my arm during our consultation, he drew on my arm, came up with a color scheme and did a great job explaining what he was doing and why. Sure enough, a few weeks later I came in for my appointment and I was not disappointed. The guy has a great personality and makes the somewhat painful process pretty fun. He is very easy to talk to, I cant think of a time that our conversations died down for more than 2 minutes throughout the 4-5ish hours I was in his chair. The shop itself has a great atmosphere, and all the employees that were present that day were pleasant to talk to and all seem to work great together. Id rate my over all experience there 6 out of 5 stars. I AM DEFINITELY COMING BACK!!

I love this place. The tattoo artists are great (shout out to my favorite Maggie, her plant tattoos are amazing) and everyone is friendly. it's comfortable and clean, with good privacy if you want it.

Got my 1st tat here! There was a group of four of us getting 1 or 2 tats. Three of us were virgins to the needle.....lol. Needless to say Haley did a phenomenal job on my ohana w/stitch outline tat! She also did my daughter's best friends tat on her ankle of a four triangle w/an A. This was her first tat too. The tats were simple in design but she was fast. Albert did my neices and daughters tat. Let's just say my neice was getting the two tats I mentioned above. Albert had us laughing and my neice enjoyed her 1st experience in getting a tat. She was nervous but he lightened her nerves. My daughter also got the same two tats as my neice. She was the only one in the group that had several existing tats. This was her 1st tats she ever got in Wisconsin. Let me just say......Haley and Albert made the experience well worth it!!

I've known Noah and Josiah as tattooists for almost three years now. I've spent over 25 hours under the needle working with Noah to build a half-sleeve that has strangers stopping me in the streets to compliment. I want you to look through the internet and into my eyes when I tell you: I trust them. They're genuinely good people on top of being exceptionally versatile artists. I've sent probably a dozen friends into this shop and every time they come back to tell me how grateful they are that they sought out Josiah or Noah, how pleased they are, how all they can think about now is the next piece. Don't think the reviews here are hyperbole. They've earned every one.

I went into the shop with a few ideas of what I wanted, and when I came back in to check it out, he had come up with the PERFECT piece for me. I couldn't be any happier with his work and the countless compliments I receive from people on how beautiful and detailed my tattoo is. I would recommend Noah to any one who is looking for something that they will be proud of forever, since a tattoo is something you will wear for the rest of your life...might as well make it awesome!

I can't say enough good things about this shop. The atmosphere is inviting, and all of the artists are friendly and helpful. Noah did a large rib piece for me. He made me feel comfortable and his work surpassed all of my expectations. It took 2 sessions to finish the tattoo. Noah was flexible, kind, and fairly priced. I will absolutely schedule all future tattoos with him. He is talented beyond belief. I would recommend him to everyone.

I've gotten tattoos from both Josiah and Marc, and I couldn't be happier! Josiah is amazingly good at realism and finding creative ways to improve on old tattoos, while Marc is an absolute master at line work. He recently gave me a lace sleeve, and it's perfect! I'll never go anywhere else as long as I'm in Dane. The shop is very clean and comfortable, and everyone working there is professional and friendly. No, seriously though, everyone who works there is awesome - I've never had such a good time getting stabbed. :)
