What a wonderful place to get tattooed! I’ve been tattooed by both Dusty and Chloe. They both are amazing artists and great company to spend hours at the shop with. It’s funny the characters coming In there all the time. Watching them interact with walk in clients/tourists from the market is quite comical. While I’ve been there, people came in with the craziest ideas for tattoos. Mostly Pinterest tattoos of other people’s “trending” work and culturally appropriated tattoos. Dusty especially, always offered incredibly unique and original, alternative ideas to these requests to give them a one of a kind piece of art while staying respectful to the traditions and cultures of the industry. It’s quite admirable watching him work and handle those situations. Chloe is kind and soft spoken but will let you know exactly what she is capable of for giving you the best possible tattoo and placement that will last your lifetime. Both are genuine and loving people, and the reason I keep coming back.

I have multiple pieces from Madame Lazonga. They are outstanding and hold color and detail for many years.

Thank you, Vyvyn Lazonga, for being part of my breast free journey. If I could flash my beautiful tattoo everywhere I would...but it doesn't make my hubby happy when I do that... The whole experience, from the first email to getting wrapped at the end has been lovely. Everyone at the shop has been warm and supportive as well as wicked with humor. While I wouldn't wish breast cancer on anyone, if you're interested in a way to reclaim your chest, think seriously about a tattoo with the best!!

Incredible artists (both Madam Lazonga and Zaza). Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. I have over 50 hours of tattoo on my body from some very sought after artists and this shop is really outstanding, both for the caliber of work they are doing, as well as the atmosphere they have created. You will not find books full of flash at this shop, just two artists doing high caliber, original works of art for a very devoted and passionate clientele. My wife is starting a large backpiece with the Madam and the initial consult could not have been more professional, or more welcoming. I have a ton of ink but my wife is very new to the process and they made it very comfortable for her. Do expect to wait a bit, as is the case with every in-demand artist who is doing good work...you will have to be willing to wait a while before they can start working on your project. This is very normal. I just started a new project with another artist after an 8 month wait, so you should know that going in. For those that do not know: Madame Lazonga is one of the pioneers of tattoo on the west coast. She had her own shop here in Seattle in 1972, and was the first woman with her own shop in Seattle history. She is absolutely worth the wait.

AMAZING artists, atmosphere and professionalism. Not your traditional tattoo shop, it's so much better. Vyvyn is so kind and the tattoo gun she uses is so quiet it makes getting tattooed almost relaxing.

Males should seek another ink shop; Surley girl that works the front desk is rude to men, nice to women.

I discovered Vyvyn's art in a book about 20 years ago when I still lived in France. Her colorful pieces made a strong impression on me and she became one of my favorite tattoo artists. When I moved to Seattle several years ago, I immediately checked her beautiful shop at the Pike Place market. I wanted a large piece from her so I decided to wait until I could fully commit to the process. In 2017, I made a first appointment for a consultation. I was intimidated to meet the tattoo legend in the flesh but she was very kind and humble. She patiently listened to me, looked at the images I had printed for inspiration and asked all sort of relevant questions. She was genuinely interested in this project and carefully listening. When I came back the next time, she showed me the drawing she had prepared: It was a pure marvel! We worked for about a year on this full back piece and the result is simply amazing. It's a peacock so her mastery of colors and her attention to details were essential. I get compliments all the time, even from people who are not fond of tattoos. What I hear the most is: "That's a masterpiece"! Although getting a full back tattoo is a long and painful process, I was always excited to go to my sessions. I really loved spending time with Vyvyn. On top of being one of the most talented tattoo artists on the planet, she is incredibly kind, generous and witty. Listening to her stories involving legends like Ed Hardy, Danny Danzl, Lyle Tuttle, Bill Salmon etc. was a real treat! Another reason to visit Madame Lazonga Tattoo: Chloe, the resident artist, is also very talented and sweet. It was always a pleasure to interact with her. She does wonders with black work and is caring, patient and friendly with her clients. The shop has a great vibe and is worth checking just to see Vyvyn's numerous awards and contributions to the tattoo world. It's a gem and a piece of history.

Legendary tattoo artist Vyvyn Lazonga greeted me when I walked in to her shop! I spent a good while visiting with her and discussing the tattoo industry and tattoo history with her! I recommend this tattoo shop!

Vera is the best Artist ever. With my many Tats she is by far the most talented. No lines, straight shading and done in 3 hours. I am going back in Dec. 2017. If you go tell her Mark with the Silver Back Gorilla Tattoo sent you. She will take care of you. Bless her and all of her talent. To know Vera is to love her. Mark, Reno NV

Madame Lazonga is a phenomenal and passionate tattoo artist! She helped pave the way for female artists in a predominately male trade, and she is one of the first to step away from traditional styles of tattoo in favor of truly one of a kind fine-art pieces. Her original art is both beautiful and unique, and her ability to translate and evolve other artist's work into tattoos, as she's doing with my piece, is truly amazing! In addition to the reasons listed above, I chose her because of her exceptional use of custom colors. Rather than using an out-of-the-box palette, she mixes her own colors as she goes. It's as if she's painting on you rather than tattooing, and the results are stunning! In my many sessions with her I also had the pleasure of witnessing the work of her talented apprentice Chloe, who recently completed her apprenticeship and accepted a position as a full fledged artist in the shop (congratulations Chloe!). She has a remarkable ability to quickly translate any and all walk-in requests into tattoos with perfect execution, but her real talent shines in her original art. While Madame Lazonga has truly mastered color, Chloe has mastered black work. Whether it is shading or dots she produces technically perfect and beautiful works of art! I could not recommend these lovely ladies highly enough!

Quality artists and professional tattoo experience. Vera made my ugly tattoo beautiful! I would recommend this place and this artist to anyone who wants someone who knows what they are doing and has a real eye for the art. Excellent!!!

My friends and I walked in for a spontaneous tattoo and we got it! The staff was so kind, supportive, and knowledgeable. The shop was clean and sterile. I'm so happy to have my first tattoo done here. I'm definitely coming back and recommending this place to get tatted at.

After having a mastectomy and having my nipples removed I was very unhappy with my body. A mastectomy is not a boob job as some think. I looked for alternatives to the fake nipples that doctors try to create with poor results. That is when I came across Madame Lazonga Tattoo in Seattle. Vyvyn the owner specializes in mastectomy scars and tattoos. She was absolutely wonderful to work with. She really listened to what I wanted, and created the most beautiful tattoos I could have imagined for myself. Her shop is beautiful, it was nice and warm, which is important when you have no shirt on. She played amazing music, and we had such great conversations throughout the process. I was completely comfortable the entire time, in a very uncomfortable situation. If it hadn't been for cancer, I would never have had a tattoo. But am I so glad I did it. Vyvyn is truly an artist. My best friend and I decided to get matching tattoos while visiting Seattle after a cruise to Alaska. Contacted Madame Lazonga based on her reviews and she recommended Aaron, who was also mentioned quite a bit in the reviews. We set up a time to meet, showed him a picture of what we wanted and talked about modifications we wanted. He was great implementing our changes with a few suggestions of his own. Was very transparent about cleaning and sterilizing between us. He was very nice and we had a great time chatting with him while he worked on us. He says he comes down to the So Cal area occasionally and I will get a new one when he's in town.

This is my 4th tattoo, I wanted to get one en route from Korea in Germany and had some time in Seattle so I decided to read up on some local parlors and stop by, see what they had to offer. While there are some great artists that I talked to in Seattle, when I walked into Madame Lazonga's and explained what I was looking to have done this was the first place that not only had great reviews but also an artist that was enthusiastic about my idea. Vera was my tattoo artist and she did an absolutely amazing job, this is my favorite and best tattoo I have had done so far. But even if Vera isn't your artist, throughout the day I overheard conversations as costumers came in about wanting to get new tattoos at Madame Lazonga's after previous experience there. I feel that this shop and the artists it employs has a reputation for both being high quality and actually caring about the work they are putting in. Outstanding, would totally recommend.

Best tree of life artwork.

Great tattoo parlor! I love Chloe, her work is outstanding, and the price is reasonable. I'd come back for more work any day of the week.

Very professional, personal, experienced and skilled artists. Great location. Comfortable atmosphere. Will go back for future tattoos

The only reason they get one star is because the woman up front was very nice. The tattoo artist was rude and discriminatory towards my friends and myself. Stating he would not give us the salmon outline tattoo we wanted because we were "a bunch of white people". He himself was white, by the way, knowing absolutely nothing about us. He then proceeded to quote us a ridiculous price and stated "welcome to Seattle" in the most disgusting attitude I've ever seen. So rude and uncalled for and I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Stopped in on a whim, Chloe and Vera were very helpful. Ended up working with Vera and collaborating for a very unique and amazing tattoo. By the time I left I almost felt like family, the girls seemed to go out of their way to help and make myself and my gal feel comfortable. Thank you Vera once again for the awesome and unique art!

Dusty was awesome! He took his time and helped my wife design the perfect tattoo on her thigh. Dusty does fabulous tattoo work and would definitely recommend

Best tattoo artist in Seattle, possibly the world

Vyvyn is AWESOME! I have gone solely to her for all of my body art since 1997... she has a “co-creative process” wherein I present her with my ink idea, she will listen and ask questions about how I want it to look and then she draws up a preliminary sketch for us both to look at and tweak to our mutual satisfaction. All of my ink is custom made just for me and my body. All one of a kind works of art! Vyvyn has a huge heart and it shows in the attention she gives to her clients. The pride she takes in her craft is evident in the art she creates... and I wear it with pride! You will count yourself fortunate to wear art created by the Grande Dame of ink in Seattle!
