I’ve been tattooed 4 times at Mercy, and I want to get more work from everyone there. This shop is slept on! It’s presence on the corner of 2nd and 2nd quietly conceals some of the best tattoo artists in Salt Lake. The artists are humble, but they do world class tattooing in their styles (mostly fine line American traditional, Japanese, and single-needle Chicano style). The artists there are featured in Blackworkers tattoo books, and regularly do guest spots at some of the most well-known shops in the US. Can’t recommend enough.

Everyone's so friendly, nice and do great work! I just don't like the area. A couple weeks ago, last time I was there a homeless guy sitting out front of the shop was asking me questions making me feel super uncomfortable when I was outside smoking a cigarette.

This place is TATTOO heaven!! We were walking for two different tattoos with different styles then their usual, they do a lot of traditional. I was a tad bit worried that what I wanted would not be achieved because of it being different that what they do. HOWEVER we got our tattoos done with Michael and they look AMAZING!!! Michael was just so sweet and open to our ideas of what we wanted. He took the time to draw something up for us and his hand wasn’t too heavy or too light. Both our tattoos look so beautiful and we both are in love with them!! The shop was clean, every one was professional and so nice. Thank you Mercy!

I've been getting tattooed at Mercy (formerly Cathedral) for about 5 1/2 years- mostly by Michael Bergfalk and Mina Aoki - I'm always happy with the quality work, price and tattoo "bedside manner." Tyler is always happy to see me and my husband and helps make the experience great ever time by offering advice and suggestions with ideas we have before we send them to the artists. My 70 year old mother in law got her first tattoo from Mina and she brags to all her neighbors in Florida about "her" tattoo artist in SLC. I will always recommend this shop.

On vacation in Salt Lake with my wife, randomly decided to get some mountain tattoos (cause no one's ever had that idea before) and we stumbled across this gem of a tattoo shop!! They were minutes away from closing, they welcomed us in right away, we showed them the basic little tattoos we wanted done, and we were both out in less than 30 minutes. The shop is perfectly maintained, clean, and welcoming. Michael did my tattoo, and Adam did my wife's tattoo. Although our tattoos we're basic, both of their portfolios (which are available to look at in the shop) were amazing! Average pricing as well. I have plenty of Tattoos and the price was right in line with my expectations. Thanks again for such a nice experience.

I really don’t know where to start with a review of Mercy. My first experience there I was actually talked out of a tattoo idea that I was not super committed to. That spoke volumes about their commitment to their customers. I went on to be tattooed 6 times there over the past year. Every artist in the shop is phenomenal. They are expert tattooers and genuinely good people.

Super late review but I would highly recommend this shop to anyone who has a passion for American traditional tattooing. I got my first tattoo done by Jake Miller and it’s still my favorite tattoo to this day, the lines are impeccable and the color is so bright. I came in as a walk in and they got me in right away. Fast, clean, amazing artwork and customer service.

Wow. Amazing experience all around. Me and my wife came in on Saturday right when they opened, and were greeted by a very nice staff. He was welcoming, kind, and got us in for a walk-in within 1.5 hours (it was already packed right at opening!!). We ended up getting tattooed by Tyler, and the experience was phenomenal. He sketched up our ideas on the spot and even redid them to fit the size we wanted. Being our first tattoo, he was very informative, nice, and helpful to get us exactly what we envisioned. I got a piece done on my arm by a guest artist. I liked the finished product a lot. It looks good. The only issue I had was I felt like the artist didn’t really listen when I asked him to change a detail of his drawling and I felt it was a little over priced. Over all good work.

Heard good things about this place with a couple of friends who have great tattoos from here so a friend and I went in (after calling and being told we needed to come in in order to make an appointment) to discuss our SSDGM tattoo idea and set up an appointment. We entered and were not acknowledged whatsoever by the several employees that were working. After waiting for about 10 minutes and making eye contact with several of them, a few other people walked in behind us and someone came over and asked them how they could be helped and began discussing what ideas they had. After waiting another few minutes, we walked out still never having been acknowledged whatsoever. After that experience, it’s difficult not to assume that we were profiled as “not their kind of customer” being two blonde, white girls with no visible tattoos. Unfortunately they have lost out on our business or those that we might’ve encouraged to go there.
