Way Overpriced!.. I had about 1200 cash with me ready to get another tattoo. I was doing some work at the Courthouse nearby and figured I could spend a couple of hours throwing down on some ink. I know a good tattoo is worth money. The peice I wanted was simple. The girl at the front desk actually helped me look it up and its a simple clipart. I asked her how much she then said between 3-400 and the art was to go on the top of my hands by my knuckle super simple clean peice. Anyways I was shocked it was so much. I have tons of peices done that are amazing and way more detailed than some basic clipart but I agreed and said okay no big deal then she says but they have to take out all of the detail. I'm looking at her like she's crazy. The peice had almost nothing to it. I think the woman at the front counter was overpricing me either cause she didn't think I was serious or didn't care for my business. Either way I would be embarrassed if I was the owner of this place having someone like that work here. And for some reason if she ended up being the owner which would shock me. She needs to seriously rethink how she treats her customers... I've been to alot of tattoo places all around the state's and this one seems over priced and over opinionated.. Disappointing.. Won't go here again. I dont want to be bullshitted.

I have a total of five tattoos, two of them were done by Gabriel here at Lost Art. Gabriel is the only artist I have gone to twice, he does a marvelous job and makes it enjoyable during the time the tattoo is being done. The shop is very clean and is overall a fun environment. I would highly recommend getting a tattoo at this shop. The tattoos I got here were reasonably priced and look amazing.

An awesome tattoo shop that allows walk-ins. We only waited about 20 minutes before they got to us. I went with 3 of my friends who all got tattoos that day. The artists sketches blew us away, and the finally work even more so. We could not have chosen a better shop to go to, and I'll definitely be going back for my next tattoos.

so my friends cat died and he wanted to get a tattoo of his cat facing towards him instead of away for a very sentimental meaningful reason. one of the employees “alex” refused to give my friend this service because it would be “dumb” and “look ugly” and be “stupid” now I’m not saying this place is bad because the same friend has two previous tattoos from here and they are amazing. it’s just disappointing at how one would be so close minded and disunderstanding that they refuse service because of the way a willingful paying customer wants a meaningful simple tattoo. moral of the story, some employees such as alex may not give you the service you want.

Definitely a place i would not recommend going to. Some of the artists here are very talented, but their work is way over priced. You can get a more professional, better looking tattoos at other shops nearby. The artists here don’t seem to care too much about what you want, they want it to look like how they’re imagining it. It is also SO HARD TO EXPLAIN TO THEM WHAT DESIGN YOU WANT. You can explain clear as day and they still won’t understand. Another thing is that these people sure don’t know how to detail. They told my friend that a small tattoo the size of about half your palm would look like a blob if they detailed it. After we left to go to another place the guy that ended up doing my boyfriend’s tattoo put SO MUCH detail and the end result was beautiful (Junior at Anchor Ink Tattoo). If you do still decide to get tattooed here, make sure you don’t end up with Alex. He is the definition of a pr*ck and will not give you the design you want if it isn’t something he likes, or if you want to face it the untraditional way (towards you). Even tho some tattoos look better that way. He is very unprofessional and instead of nicely suggesting an alternate design, he will go on about how ugly your idea is and laugh in your face. Even if you’ve told him the tattoo is meaningful. He does not care about you, he cares about the money. You can get a much better design from a much more talented artist elsewhere ;)

I had an amazing experience here. I came in as a walk in. I asked if I needed to schedule an appointment but they said with the design I wanted I could get it done right then. This was my first tattoo. Alex did a great job, it looks really nice and he explained how to keep it clean and looking good very thoroughly. I was comfortable through the whole process. My only minor complaint would be that I felt it was a little over priced. My tattoo is a simple line drawing less than 3 inches long and cost $60.

Honestly I'm not sure, i felt rushed after asking for a drawing to be done again, instead of drawing it again Gabriel said he would skip that part I didn't want... Now I permanently have what looks like a dick and balls in my tattoo. Sadly at the time i was so excited for my tattoo I didn't notice and even tipped really good. Given I'm transgender I'm not sure if it was bigoted or just a accident, either way a tattoo shouldn't be rushed and they should draw it for you.

The portfolios all looked impressive as well, especially portraits done by one of the women working there (can't recall her name unfortunately). They were clean, well organized and friendly, plus they did exactly what I had wanted. Fantastic!

Jerry Roberts at Lost Art Tattoo is the best tattoo artist in Salt Lake City, Utah! Seriously, I looked at every artist in Utah and beyond and then I found Jerry! He is an incredible artist and created the most amazing piece for me. I love it so much! The shop is really nice and clean and everyone there is really friendly. Went to the shop as a walk in with not much research done. A friend of my went to lost art in midvale and loved it. My husband met Nate the owner and liked his vibe so we thought we would try it. Gabriel listened to what I wanted and gave me his professional opinion so it would look nice and last. My husbands uncle committed suicide Sunday morning. He was the rock in our family. These tattoos are so important to our grieving process. The work came out beautiful, Gabriel’s vibe was awesome, the shop was super clean. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone looking to add to their body art collection and plan to go back soon to get more work from Gabriel.

Lost Art is the absolute best tattoo studio in Salt Lake City. All the artists are amazing, they made me feel so welcome and comfortable. They are the most professional and friendly tattoo artists I have ever dealt with. The work they do is amazing and they can do all styles of tattooing. I have a few tattoos from Nate which are outstanding and my friends have tattoos from Dean that are fantastic. I love Gabe's work, it's so unique. Alex and John are both excellent as well. Check this place out, you won't be sorry.

I saw another reviewer who seemed to have a very similar problem as I did. I went in over the weekend, hoping I'd be able to get in sometime soon, or at least speak with an artist about the tattoo I wanted to get. I also wanted to talk to an artist about working to alter a tattoo I already have. The woman at the front desk was incredibly condescending from the get go. She seemed to think very highly of herself. I described to her the tattoo I have hoping to get (a pretty simple wrist tattoo). She brushed this off as if I weren't worth her time. I then tried to see if I could talk to someone about altering my current tattoo. Instead of giving me a name, or having me talk to someone, she decided to take matters into her own hands. As far as I could tell she was not an artist and so had no place telling me what I should and shouldn't do with the tattoo. She was very ignorant, would not listen, and talked over me. She clearly didn't understand what I was trying to describe and treated me like an idiot for wanting something she didn't deem good enough. And then, after all of that, she was incredibly closed mouthed, vague, and standoffish about giving a date, time, or even just an artist's name I could talk to at some point. All in all, it was an INCREDIBLY frustrating experience. This woman was very unprofessional, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's run off other potential customers with her ignorance and standoffish behavior. Lost Art has good work, but they're not better than everyone in Salt Lake. I'll take my business to a shop with artists that are just as good and have a friendlier, more accepting environment.

I absolutely love this shop. Had one tattoo done here in 2007 and came back in June to Gabe Hunter for a new tattoo of art that I brought to him to be brought to life. We're three sessions in and the work he's done so far is amazing! The shop staff is nice and keep things light while you're there, and the shop itself is clean. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking to have art done.

Base fare is $60.00 for anyone wanting to know! I was a walk in client, I went in around 12:30ish and there was not a wait. Moises was my artist, I showed him the tattoo idea that I wanted, he sketched it out on a piece of paper as a rough idea and then went to the back to draw it up for me. The tattoo cost me $80.00, which is super fair because he took the time to draw it up instead of just tracing the original image. Everyone who was there was friendly, and the shop/tools are clean. Great environment to get a tattoo in.

I worked with Nate, honestly the best artist to work on my body! I had stay true tattooed on my knuckles and I couldn't be more happy with the result! 4 months ago I got a coverup of a 15 yr old tattoo. It looked amazing -At First- Unfortunately I now live out of state and can't get them to coverup my coverup! The lines are disappearing and the color was not saturated, at all! This red has already faded to pink. This tattoo looks older than the tattoo I had covered up! I thought Lost Art would be a slam dunk but in addition to that, I was charged $300 for a tattoo that took barely over a hour to put on. PLEASE research your artists before getting something permanent!!
