Rating tattoos and artists is interesting. I think because both the artist and the recipient have invested so much personally into their piece, everyone thinks their tattoo artist is awesome. Needless to say it is difficult to look at tattoo studios and artists objectively. With that being said, in the most objective possible way, Nicolas Solis is one of the finest tattoo artists anywhere. His passion for art in general shows through his work. He is quickly becoming a very sought-after artist and I feel very fortunate to be one of his customers. There are a few big names in the tattoo industry in Utah: Oak Adams, Vic back (27 owner), Jon Chatelain and I'm sure several others that I do not know, but you can put Nicolas in this group. Everything he does is stunning.

I love this shop. Everyone that I have met has been so awesome to work with. The artist are down to Earth and talented. If you want quality work for something that you will have for the rest of your life, then 27 is a great option.

Derrell Palmer is a very talented artist but he is unprofessional. It's hard enough getting scheduled with him and then he cancels 3 different times. I was just so sick of having to reschedule. 4 stars for tattoo 0 stars for reliability. He basically got to keep my deposit for his tip which I had a hard time excepting.

Ridiculous amount of talent all in one studio. I specifically went to Miss Amanda for my sleeve. I am always over the moon with what she has created for me. I recommend her for all flower/animal/greenery goodness to anyone!

By far the worst experience I have ever had with a tattoo shop and business all together! The owner Vic is incredibly rude and talks to his staffs customer's with so much disrespect! F-Bombs and all! BEWARE DARRELL PALMER WILL QUOTE U BEFORE U GO IN, HE WILL START UR WORK AND MID TATTOO HE WILL CHANGE HIS PRICES ON YOU. According to Darrell he charges $100 and hour if he feels he didn't do a good job or get a lot done, but will charge $150 if HE FEELS HE DID A GOOD JOB! He also will decide how much you tip him and take that out of what u paid for the session. It's unreal! When brought to the owner Vic's attention he was the biggest jerk ever! Hung up on me and talked over me, so I couldn't get a word in. He was completely put out to even have a conversation about the way his staff was taking advantage of me. Which tells me he must do the same, if he thinks it's ok. Fast forward....after trying to leave a Facebook review on their page I was blocked by the admin and couldn't leave my true and honest review. So their reviews are screened! I also have had a few blocked numbers since my review I left on Darrell's personal/professional page call and threaten me! A few text as well....all from Google numbers! Scary stuff! I HIGLY RECOMMEND GOING SOMEWHERE U HAVE BEEN REFERED TO BY A GOOD FRIEND! THIS IS NOT UR PLACE! ATLEAST WORKING WITH DARRELL OR VIC WOULD COST U A FORTUNE AND A HUGE HEADACHE! The other artist.....I don't know nothing about! Hopefully they are good with their word and the way they charge! HONEST REVIEW!!

I absolutely loved working with Annelisa at 27! She's an amazing artist and I wouldn't want anyone else to tattoo me. In general, the staff is friendly and the studio is chill and clean. I would definitely recommend this tattoo studio!

I cannot say enough good things about Mason Atlas and all of 27 Tattoo! Mason was incredible! Responsive, accommodating, friendly and personable, and extremely talented. He's one of the few artists that I feel truly grasps the art form of tattooing - not just drawing on skin, but suggesting ways to alter the shape or placement in order for the piece to flow better on the body and fit your personality perfectly. Amazing work! I'll be back, for sure.

Couldn’t be more happy with my work done by Ryan Campbell. He’s such a nice guy and does amazing work. He’s done my scapula and full right sleeve. I still need to finish a bit on it, but am so pumped with how it looks. I can’t even count the number of people who compliment the work and ask where I had it done. Anyone who asks me where to get ink done, I tell them go to 27. The atmosphere is classy and everyone there I’ve interacted with has been super welcoming and nice. I plan on coming back to this place for YEARS to get more of my tattoos done. Great place.

My review is not only about my artist but for people who seem to be confused about how they operate/the phone. This is all my personal experience and things I have observed during my many appointments through the last few years. My artist is Nic Solis, words cannot express my appreciation, admiration, and all around good feeling toward this gentleman. Nic not only has done custom work on me, I also have a piece done completely by him with his creative freedom, and I have a rework/cover up in process by him. What I love most about Nic is he is humble, he does a great job and is a phenomenal artist but he really appreciates his clients, I have also observed this in other artists throughout the shop as well though I've never personally gotten work from anyone else. I have Heisenberg from breaking bad on my thigh, I had seen a drawing Nic had done just for fun and told him I'd love it tattooed. Instead of doing that same drawing he went and re-watched the series, pausing on various parts to get reference, then proceeded to create an entire new drawing for the tattoo. To me, that is some serious dedication and passion for your work, I'm not the only client he has done this for either. For me though, yes in a way the tattoo artist is being paid by me to do me a service, but I think people forget they are their own people with feelings and they are artists who mostly are in the business to create. So walking in with work you saw on someone else saying you want it or wanting a tattoo exactly like one you found online isn't very exciting for them. And yes, these guys can be scheduled out many months to years at a time, THAT IS A GOOD THING. That doesn't mean all walk in shops are bad, but if you see an artist is busy and you've seen their phenomenal work, it more than likely means they do great jobs, then enough people like myself set up many appointments that span months to a year at a time. He also has done a lot of work on my husband, and his too have turned out nothing short of amazing. I think a big part of our relationship as artist-client thrives on the fact that we have similar interests and have a lot in common when it comes to the work we are getting done. That is why it is important to research the person you will be working with and make sure you are on the same page and confident in each other to produce a beautiful piece of art. For the people trying to get a hold of the shop. They might have base operating hours on here, but they are there whenever the artist have appointments, so there isn't really a set time. Usually appointments start around 11-12, so most likely there will be someone there through out the day starting around that time. And about the phone, most the artists are in the middle of work, they'd have to stop, take off gloves, and get to the phone in time for you to stay on the line, though some times there is an artist waiting for a client to arrive and they almost always answer the phone promptly. This shop does not have a secretary, it is only the artists in the shop at the time to help you out. But never in my time here have I seen them ignore someone right out until they left. They usually greet someone asking what they need, and let them know they can help them when they either have a good stopping point or give them the information they seek. Do not let bad reviews scare you from an amazing place.

The artists at this place are exceptional and the establishment is relaxing without the drama that can go with a tattoo studio. I have used one artist and so has my wife, but the portfolios of the others are amazing and I would let them work on me without hesitation. The owner is very friendly and seems to enjoy making people laugh.

Mason Atlas is absolutely incredible - the best tattoo artist I've met. He let my family barge in the evening before a funeral, requesting last minute memoriam tattoos. He was patient & attentive--two qualities you want in a tattoo artist! His attention to our feelings was as skillful as his linework. He even let me make adjustments to the final sketch of my tattoo within his iPad app, allowing me to truly personalize it. He had another appointment scheduled to tattoo a friend, & kindly postponed it to allow my family to have each of their tattoos completed. Our tattoos healed up beautifully and I never thought I'd prize an experience at a tattoo shop, but he really did make the occasion meaningful & calming. Anyone that can handle my in-laws with such patience is a gentleman & a scholar!

Nice, clean studio but my tattoo turned out awful! I got writing on my foot that you can't really read and had to have another artist try to fix. The first word was done too thick and he must have realized it because then the other words were done thin. Plus the spacing of the words was awful. Very displeased with my tattoo.

I can't say enough good things about this studio, its owners, and the artists there. Specifically Erin Campbell, who I have been going to for all of my tattoos for the last 5 years. She is an amazing artist, and has the ability to take one or two vague ideas from me and turn them into the most beautiful and unique art. She's a genuine, talented, wonderful artist, and you should consider yourself lucky if you can score a spot in her books! All of the artists are amazing; you really can't go wrong here.

The big caveat for 27 is that it will take some time to get an appointment. But it is worth it. The artists in this shop all are very friendly and talented. I am working with Annelisa. From the first contact to starting to put ink on skin took about 9 months, and I am so glad we too the time to get out visions right. She is an exceptional artist. The studio itself is very clean and open. The studio has a southeast Asia vibe which is inviting. Over all I am ecstatic about my experience while getting a half sleeve done and will be coming back to work with Annelisa again.

Rick Mcgrath did mine and my husband's (wife writing this) tattoo here and I can't begin to describe what a phenomenal experience it was. My brother had recently passed away and we both wanted a tattoo memorializing him and Rick got us an appointment in <24 hours from when we called him!! And not only that, but he was so very kind and took the time to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Rick is exceptionally creative and talented but he also respects the customer's wishes to the utmost degree. I can guarantee you that you will come out with an even better tattoo than what you thought possible!! Also being a medical provider I can attest to his methodical approach to cleanliness and his thorough explanation of aftercare to make sure all his tattoos are safe and his customer's every question is answered clearly. Finally I just wanted to mention that this was my first ever tattoo and with Rick's relaxed and fun manner he put me completely at ease. Cannot recommend him highly enough, would never go to anyone else!!

While I have not been to this studio yet, I must say that R2 is the best artist! My best and most beautiful was was done by him. He does excellent work and I'm hoping he can do some repair work for me that was done by another artist. I'm saving my $ for R2!

Daniel did a great job on my tattoo. However, when I messaged him for a follow up to finish my tattoo he hasn't gotten back to me. I've tried multiple times now. I prefer to get a piece done by one artist but now I need to go find a different one. Very dissatisfied with the service with this particular artist.
