The piercer here pierced my rook in a way that it would never heal, crooked and at a horrible angle, causing it to swell and tear my ear, which made my skin heal around the second ball. He also pierced a flat at a downwards angle, causing irritation on the back of my ear, making it not heal properly. My septum is crooked, and my double lobes are uneven. My left lobe was not pierced where he marked the dot. Pricing on the jewelry is nearly tripled, and it turns your skin green after a while of wearing. He also nearly dropped the ball on my septum horseshoe into my nose. Piercer also didn’t go through the aftercare instructions verbally and handed me a bent flyer that practically just said “use salt water.” Would NOT recommend piercings here to anyone. Every single piercing I’ve gotten here crooked and/or done wrong.

I got a conch piercing and thanks to the piercer's skill, it was less painful than that lobe piercing i got at a mall kiosk back in the 80s! It's perfectly placed and he helped me pick out gorgeous jewelry for it. The shop is beautiful and the staff are superb. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

This is the only place I would get jewelry or a piercing at in Knoxville. Tyler McClure and the rest of the staff are always friendly and helpful. They aren't cheap, but remember you get what you pay for. They are extremely knowledgeable and well trained with quality jewelry. They are worth every penny and then some.

I always recommend this place, great people, amazing work, and a very awesome and comfortable atmosphere. Again highly recommend this place I won’t go anywhere else for future work. I have seen some posts about the prices but they are fair but for the amazing work they do and the quality products they have it’s a very fair price. When I was looking for a place to get some tattoos done I chose BTW because they don’t have work that needs covering. Enough good things cannot be said about this place.

It's been over a year since I've been in BTW, but I just had an experience that made me realize how much I took this place for granted. I moved for a job after living in Knoxville for 4 years, and now I am in a city without any APP certified folks. I decided to give a pretty well known and established place a shot and literally walked out because my standards have been so dramatically elevated by the true professionals at BTW. I have multiple piercings by both Tyler B. and Tyler M. They do great work; my favorite pieces were the ones done when I asked them for ideas. I find it absolutely asinine that people are leaving reviews on here that aren't 5 stars because they are "expensive." You get what you pay for- do not come here if you want something cheap and temporary. There are providing quality which is worth what it costs. I sorely miss this place and will be back if and when I am passing through good ole Knoxville.

I got my tattoo done here on 8.15.2018. This was the first time I have had a tattoo done here (I did get my nose pierced here, and it was a great experience). Ashley did my tattoo, and the image we had and what she came up with was amazing. She is very professional and down to earth. She made the experience even better. I would highly recommend her. Tony who works the front desk is a very sweet guy, not to add funny with a great personality. He is very knowledgeable of the artist, and will recommend you to the best artist based off of the work you want done. I have never met someone who runs the front end as sweet as him. You will not great going here.

My friend and I had some questions on ear stretching, we wanted to talk to someone who knew what they were doing, so we went on a hunt for a good tattoo/piercing shop. After the first few were unfriendly, dirty and didn't seem to take us seriously we were very close to giving up. On our last try we decided to stop by this place since it was on the way back. At first it seemed a bit off the radar (location wise) so we thought it might be just the same as the others, however when we walked in we were greeted right away. Bryan helped us with ALL the questions we had about ear stretching, gave us some tips and even helped us out on other questions we had on piercings. He was very friendly, professional and easy to talk to (most importantly we liked how he didn't make us feel like idiots for asking questions) As we looked around we saw that the shop had some amazing and beautiful jewelry all well and neatly organized. Though some of it can be a bit pricey, the items definitely are worth it. The atmosphere was great and felt very clean, nothing about this shop seemed shady or unwelcoming. My friend and I left feeling very informed and satisfied. On the way home we just kept talking about how awesome this shop left us feeling. We've already recommended this place to several friends and we know we will definitely be coming back!

I wish I could rate the quality lower their poor - fair. DO NOT EVER GO HERE! They are extremely rude and unprofessional. I went in for a consultation which was a joke. I emphasized what I wanted and the size I wanted, then I scheduled my appointment and paid a $50 nonrefundable deposit. I tried to look at the sketch prior to my appointment, but I was told Jon was too busy. Then when I went in for my appointment, I wasn't happy with the size, and the sketch looked like it had been done 5 minutes before I came in. When I expressed my concerns, he got an attitude and acted like I was putting him out. So I walked out and went to another shop, and they were 100 times more professional, compassionate, and understanding. Again, do not go here!!! There are better shops in Knoxville to go to.

It's close to where I live. It's Very clean, by far of all the shops I've been in. They have a perfect score, and they have a rewards system. My only advice for them is having herbal tea is an awesome idea but the hot water spout don't work so it's hard to have the tea. Suckers it awesome but maybe an alternative like mints would be even better. The only other thing is if somebody has never been there before who ever is working the front should offer advice and explain why there's such a wait when it don't seem to be busy. Be a little more friendly and talkative, to the people waiting not just those checking out. I'll definitely go back here though if I have anything else done.

This is most likely the best studio in the entire state. I traveled multiple hours out of the way to com to their studio. Tyler did a set of 12g nostril piercings on me about 3 years ago... They healed; I love them. I was impressed with the studio and staff. I recommend them to all my friends in the region.

The staff is very rude. I stood there for 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence. I asked them to touch up a tattoo and they didn't seem to know what I meant by touching up a tattoo. I also asked them if they could do a simple ankle bracelet with a chain and two hearts and I was told that the chain could not be done but the hearts by itself could? I showed them a picture of the ankle bracelet tattoo on someone else's ankle (so it can be done) I also spoke with someone at a different tattoo parlor who also said that it could be done. I mentioned that to the staff and their reply was "oh that's going to look real nice in two years." I would not trust staff so rude, immature, inexperienced to put permanent markings on my body. FYI for the owner: someone else was able to complete the tattoo with absolutely no problem. When a tattoo is too small then you simply draw it bigger by hand just like the skilled and professional tattoo artist that I went to did.

I expressed my concerns to them before I got anything done, and Jared answered all of my questions. The place is very clean and they use appropriate sanitation techniques. This place can be more expensive than others but, here, it's certainly true that you get what you pay for. The jewelry is meant to stay put. Through showers, swim, sleep all life's activities. I got 3 piercings here and 1 re-piercing. The facility has a spa/ medical feel; it's very clean. Since the jewelry is meant to stay in its fool proof easy to keep the piercing clean afterwards. The jewelry is tasteful and classy too.

Went in today to get my nose pierced with my husband and daughter. Tyler B. as well as the girls at the front were awesome. Very welcoming atmosphere. The shop is very clean and has a relaxing feel. I was helped right away and after filling out my paperwork someone came right over to help me pick out jewelry. She was super friendly and patient while I picked out my jewelry and I didn’t feel rushed. They have a large and absolutely gorgeous selection so everyone I’m sure can find a piece that they love. There’s a really nice waiting area and plenty of seating. I also enjoyed the complimentary green tea. There was a very small wait time and once he was ready for me I was still feeling a bit nervous for the piercing but Tyler B. is very funny and easy to talk to so the nerves disappeared. The piercing was quick and surprising painless. Overall- great experience. I will recommend Born This Way to everyone I know and won’t go anywhere else in Knoxville for my piercing needs!

Ear rings dont stay in one piece, Orders take months, Practices are shady, and they have a no return policy. You buy it? Better like it. I visited the new location on Kingston Pike to get replacement jewelry for the frankly embarrassing jewelry in 3 of my helix piercings. Tyler spent at least half an hour going thru different options with me and what would fit in each location vs what likely wouldn't. After helping me pick out pieces that I genuinely love, he then remove my old ones and put in the new ones. Overall a fantastic experience. Additionally, the location is very nice and inviting which was a bit of a unique experience when visiting a tattoo shop. Will definitely be back for my piercing and tattoo needs.

Very clean, upscale environment with very attentive and courteous staff. I've had a large tattoo of such poor quality that I was honestly embarrassed to show anyone. I've sought help on it in the past but no one seemed very interested in taking it on. The artists at Born This Way seem to thrive on the creative and challenging as they were happy to get ideas from the entire staff on what to do and who was best to handle it. Eventually I spoke with Evan Lovett who is a guest artist that had some really great ideas. On the day of the appointment Evan sketched everything out over my existing tattoo and explained what was to come. Four hours later it looked like a completely different tattoo. His precision and attention to detail exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier with the results. I just had my second session with one more short one to go. After that, I'll be posting before/afters. Definitely my new place to go for my future ink. Would highly recommend, especially for custom work.

The piercing was $50 which wasn't bad but the jewelry was overly priced. $110 just for the jewelry I thought was way too much especially charging for $30 for the ball $30 for the bar and then $45 for the M&M ball. If your willing to pay alot its worth it but it's too rich for my blood!

I would recommend Born This Way to anyone wanting a piercing or tattoo, and I wouldn't consider going anywhere else! I got a set of lobe piercings and a helix done by Tyler Bernard, and Tyler McClure did my second helix, conch, and daith. I am completely happy with all 6 of my piercings. The jewelry selection is wide, and a lot of their pieces are expensive. However, if you tell your piercer a budget, they will happily show you everything they have in your price range. I got my first tattoo done by Mariella just this week, and it was a great experience. She was patient with me as I asked her to tweak the design and put the stencil on twice. She obviously wanted to make sure the tattoo was what I had envisioned, but she provided her advice and expertise as well. Also, my tattoo ended up costing less than it was originally quoted as. I have 5 friends who have all gotten pierced or tattooed at BTW, and they all had amazing experiences as well. I really appreciate the care and attention to detail that everyone here exhibits. They are extremely knowledgeable and really care about their customers. Thanks guys!

This place is absolutely incredible! Everyone in this shop is very friendly and welcoming. They have a big selection of jewelry and I have upgraded many of my pre-existing piercings with their jewelry since it is so beautiful. Tyler Bernard did both of my daith piercings and he is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled piercer. I highly recommend him. Recently I injured myself necessitating surgery and requiring all of my piercings to be removed. I was able to have all of my piercings removed and they had non metal retainers for my still not completely healed daiths. Now I don't have to worry about my piercings closing after surgery which has alleviated much stress among all my other stressors. I love this shop!

I can't stress this enough: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. When it comes to permanent tattoos and piercings, saving up and paying a little extra for Born this Way will go a long way. Every artist and piercer is out for your best interest, and will not tattoo or pierce something on you that won't look good in the long run. While some people find this irritating, I find it comforting to know that the experts at Born This Way care more about finding the tattoo/piercing that's right for you than they care about taking your money. Trust them!!! I've had two piercings by Tyler McClure (awesome, skilled, wonderful calming presence) and a tattoo by Emily Walker (amazingly talented, beautiful style, NO complaints about my ink and still looks beautiful to this day). I've already had to have a piercing re-done by Tyler (since I went somewhere else to save money - bad idea!!!) and booked a cover-up with Emily (again, you get what you pay for). I've learned my lesson, so take my advice and head to BTW for whatever you need! High quality jewelry, studio quality unlike any other in the Knoxville area... I could go on and on. If you've heard they're "too expensive" or "too snooty" I urge you to give them a try anyway so you can see how awesome they really are!!

Tyler Bernard did my Daith piercing. He did an outstanding job. It has been an awesome experience. There was a quick pinch, a little pressure then it was over. I have had no pain whatsoever! It looks fabulous. I am following the aftercare instructions faithfully. I want it to heal well and do not want an infection. I chose BTW for my piercing because I got my amazing tattoo there several years ago by Jon Goad. I had a wonderful experience then. BTW is immaculate and all the staff are extremely professional. When I got my cartilage pierced here a few weeks ago, they were very friendly and helpful. Their website was very informative. The guy who pierced my ear was very explicit in what the piercing process was and how I would need to treat it afterwards. However, I found this is a higher-priced shop. Basic piercings are $40 (a helix piercing is considered basic). For earrings, the simplest and smallest helix earring was $34. I was a little confused as they said they could work with my earrings budget, but they didn’t have any earrings in my budget. After tax and tip, it was much more expensive than I thought it would be. They did do a great job at the piercing, but I found the place to be a little too pricey for me.

This was my first tattoo experience and I was pretty nervous. Nick Moran was excellent. He took as much time as I wanted to pick tattoos, talk about placing and colors, and discuss any worries I had. Really knowledgeable guy as well. I asked him probably 30 questions and he was able to answer all of them with a confident and experienced demeanor. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone! Facilities are really nice as well, very clean and professional looking and feeling. Good vibe to it. All in all a very pleasant experience, especially coming from someone that was nervous in the first place.
