I was fortunate enough to meet Jasón and worked on a small piece which sparked a great convo that lead into us hopefully working real soon on my sleeve. He also tattooed my friend and she was and still is extremely happy with the results. Jason is a great artist and has a gentle hand. Three king is my new spot and I recommend everyone go try them out. You won’t be disappointed

i feel like this place took advantage of me when i was younger and didn't know any better. I went to this place a year ago when I was 17 and the guy I went to didnt seem to want to be there. he immediately told me he couldn't do any of the work i was asking for, which is a point where one of the more professional artist i go to would send me home. instead the guy i went to (forget his name but his station is the first one on the left behind the front desk) convinced me to get a stupid flower tattoo that now covers my whole forearm. I'm wouldn't be as upset if it weren't for the fact that there was absolutely no detail work done on this tattoo, which i noticed in the shop. but he was so rude and passive aggressive that i literally didn't feel comfortable asking hime to fix it. Overall a terrible experience resulting in a terrible tattoo which is really a disappointment considering all the good (probably fake accounts in retrospect) reviews online that lead me to three kings. update: I've been looking through the reviews and i see at least one 5 star review from Adam who works at the shop but doesn't identify himself as a tattoo artist there

Amazing work and atmosphere, Very expensive. I've had work done here twice, both artists were amazing, despite some reviews of people saying that they had an UN-friendly experience I can only speak for myself and I had 2 wonderful experiences with different artists. If you have the money and aren't worried about price and you know you want something good and well done I highly recommend. If price is a concern I would look somewhere else. It's cash only. And They do walk in appointments which is very nice. All in all. Very good but very pricey.

$340 for a tiny 30 min tattoo that got infected. I have a sleeve so I know proper care. I was a walk in. Waited two hours no big deal. Then they called me to come and I ended up waiting another hour. Just not really impressed with the quality whatsoever. Better cheaper places out there. Too much hype for this shop

I traveled from hours away to get a memorial tattoo done at 3 Kings. The staff were professional and kind. Shea, the artist, did an incredible job. He went above and beyond to make sure that the tattoo was as perfect a tribute as it could be. I’ve had three other tattoos done at 3 Kings, and each experience has been similarly positive. Cannot recommend this shop highly enough.

I really liked the service; the girls at the front desk were friendly and polite and were the reason I decided to get inked here, even though it was a little pricier than I thought my simple little outlines would be. As a walk-in I did not have to wait more than 10 minutes before James came to discuss my idea and we got on it. He was patient, flexible and helpful and did not get annoyed when I asked to change things back and forth. Finally, I got a tattoo that I am happy with, although I wish the lines where a little more accurately, but I am a perfectionist.

The first session about 6-7 hours in December. I didn’t think I was going to sit well for that long. The energy from the front of the shop, the music, to the artists is incredible. My brother and I spent our birthday in Brooklyn and wanted to celebrate by getting matching tattoos. We found Three Kings via a quick Google search and we're so happy we did. The place was immaculate (those tufted sofas were incredible!) and the staff was great. Gia was a rockstar in walking us through the entire process and making sure we were comfortable. It was also right in our price range and we were out of there after an hour or so. I love my tat and while I don't think I'd ever get a second one, I can't recommend this place enough.

I was excited to get a jammer tattoo from Three Kings, cause Gothamist and many other publications say this is the best tattoo studio in NY. And some of the artist work is amazing. My girlfriend and I went in on May 4th to both get a small light saber jammer. When the shop girl told me it was gonna be $150, i was baffled. I've been tattooed at Smith Street Tattoo, Sacred Tattoo, Magic Cobra, Green Point Tattoo and Love and Hate in AZ. I got a jammer at Smith street from Steve Boltz that was $50! Three kings wanting $150 for a tattoo that takes 10 minutes is mind blowing! I'm not a "bargain hunter" as i have 75% of my body covered by really good artist. So I went through with it. Our tattoo was done by a girl name Billy who was so nervous you would imagine it was her first time tattooing. We've been in tattoo studios since back when it was still illegal in NYC and this 'artist' sounded like she's only just entered the field. I get that everyone has to learn but where was her teacher?! Why was she allowed to tattoo in an empty shop unsupervised? The tattoos aren't that bad for an apprentice, but they are not good. A good tattoo isn't cheap but these expensive tattoos are not good. $150 for 10 minutes is highway robbery!

Hubby and I were in NYC for our anniversary and wanted to get our first tattoos. We booked with Three Kings ahead of time (we put down a deposit), based on Google and other online reviews. So glad we did. Keri was very responsive and friendly via email, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere in the shop as we waited (we were early). Josh did our work, and was 'gentle' with us since we didn't know what we were in for. :) We were really happy with the results. They had 30 Rock playing while he worked, which helped take our minds off the process. Great people, very clean, awesome atmosphere--and talented artist. We might have to drive up to NYC when it comes time for more work...can't imagine going anywhere else now. Josh only accepts cash, so Hubs ran across the street to an ATM when our tattoos were done.

AWESOME!!! I was there for cosmetic tattooing with Bethany. I did a lot of research for microblading and ombre shading and all signs, reviews and beauty blogs pointed to Bethany. My experience was nothing short of amazing. Bethany was fun to work with and made me feel so comfortable and confident in my eyebrows and her work that any anxiety I had prior to my appointment instantly went away. Bethany was EXTREMELY THOROUGH and took the time to really explain the differences between the two techniques, weighing out all the pros and cons. I am completely satisfied with her work. Bit pricey but totally worth it given you're getting something for the rest of your life. Fantastic atmosphere, everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Been seeing Janda for a few months now and happy to have finally finished the first of two pieces! She designs incredible custom work and gives you a personal focus that you hope for when making a large financial commitment (this piece ran ~18 hours under the needle). She works with you to make sure you're getting something that both works for the medium of tattooing and you're happy with - my initial thought of what I wanted would not have made a good tattoo and she talked to me for a bit to understand the concept and designed something that encompassed that from scratch, I couldn't be happier with the final product!

Everyone was extremely nice but the artistry was subpar. I asked for a very simple design, a compass which honestly is mostly straight lines, and my lines are crooked. I can't wait until it heals so I can get them to fix it. Because if not, I'll have to cover it up.

James needs a huge attitude adjustment! Went to Three Kings because of the reviews and not only was the work an easy job that somehow got fudged up but the WHOLE experience with James was miserable. Girl at the front was nice but aside from that, New York is too full of tattoo places to go here. He was unappreciative of the business before we even got started and was unprofessional in every aspect. BEWARE they do not open clean utensils in front of you they set up first and call you back. I hope his attitude for no reason was worth a bad rating because I don't ever review places but have to let people know it's not all it's cracked up to be. Also it's cash only and they don't give you a receipt. I hope whoever owns it knows they are pocketing cash, and I really hope for business sake it's not James that is the owner.

Went here very recently for my first tattoo ever. My tattoo went for a couple hours so one can only imagine how anxious I could have been but the staffs and the clients made it super chill. My artist was Kaylyn and she settled me down and talked through with me through everything to make sure the art was exactly how I wanted and made sure it came out really amazing. WHICH IT DID. He did exactly what we had discussed for my right arm sleeve (my first tattoo) and I can’t wait for my second session. If you are looking for a talkative tattoo artist he is not for you and I only mention this based on other reviews I’ve seen of different artists. Visited Three Kings yesterday for my first ever 'impulse' tattoo. Thought of a concept that morning and walked in. The moment I walked through the door, I felt good. The shop is clean, bright, and I was greeted immediately. The woman at the counter who I believe is named Lee was super helpful and curious about my design, so I showed her first. She called one of the artists over, Adam, who smiled and shook my hand, sat down with me and went over the piece and pricing. I wanted a simple feather from an ink drawing a friend had made and Adam nailed it, line for line. He makes his own tattoo machines, too, which is pretty badass. Overall, I had a great experience and I think they hit all the categories of what a great shop should be: clean, fast, friendly, professional, warm. I'll definitely go back for more work, and I highly recommend them!

Came for a walk in on a Saturday and was placed with Shea, who gave a quick consult to help finalize the design idea for a pair of over knee tattoos and a pyramid on my arm. Shop was very clean and spacious, and was able to sit with Shea with only a couple hour wait. Especially happy with the pyramid, Shea clearly knew how to do this type and suggested shading that punched it up.

Went for my first visit to Three Kings today to see Bethany for freckle tattoos. I have been getting tattooed for years, but this was my first cosmetic tattoo experience. Bethany explained everything very clearly and talked me through the process. I loved the fact that she had her own space and the whole shop was super clean. They would get higher stars but they were too expensive. The front desk lady was nice and approachable, but my tattoo artist was a little standoffish and cold. I would go to a cheaper place- it's not worth the cost- I think I was gypped. (3x3'' tat for $200? It's a little much) But no use crying over spilt milk. Take time to find a better place, get to know the artist that is going to put ink and energy into your body.

Had my tattoo done with Brian very chill cool dude had my tattoo done just like I wanted it the only bad side is I waited outside in the waiting room while he got everything done in the tattoo room I PERSONALLY LIKE TO SEE THE NEEDLE BEFORE TATTOOING BUT SAW THE NEEDLE PLASTIC THEIRE ON THE DESK PLUS ITS A PRO SHOP WHICH I DIDNT MIND
