I had a session with Rafael Marte this afternoon to redo a tattoo from another artist at another shop that did not live up to my expectations. I came across Rafael’s work by complimenting the tattoos of someone I met- who enthusiastically told me about Raf at Studio 28. The shop was super easy to book with online- very friendly. I met with Rafael a couple of days later- showed him my tattoo and gave him a sense of what I was looking for. He took some pics and we scheduled the work for the following week. Simply put- he knocked it out of the park. He gave me the tattoo that I wanted- and then some. He is very talented- and a true please to spend time with. He really puts his heart in his work- and was proud of the tattoo- especially when he realized how much I loved it. Totally exceeded my expectations. The shop is clean- friendly- nice music- good vibes. Awesome experience all around!

He was very professional but also extremely personable and I felt relaxed and at ease throughout my tattoo session. He also touched up a tattoo I already had and he totally brought it back to life! On a whim I stopped by to find some jewelry for my previously-stretched ears. Maybe plugs, maybe new septum jewelry. I didn't actually know what I wanted! Everyone at Studio 28 were super friendly and very informative from when I walked through the door. I went to get a body piercing as a walk-in. The whole process was thoroughly explained to me before I meet with my piercer (Kristen). Kristen was awesome she made me feel comfortable and cool through out the session. She went through the process with me prior to the piercing and as she did the piercing she walked me through it. She was VERY sanitary changing her gives every time she went to do something. She took her time going through steps for after care and give me some really helpful tips and tricks. I'd definitely recommend Studio 28 to others.

When I came for my appointment, he showed me sketch, I didnt like it, cause it was on ipad and sketch was raw, I freaked out, and I asked for final picture. A fantastic place. I booked my appointment from the other side of the world basically but felt like studio 28 was around the corner. They listened to all my ideas and were fully on board, keeping me informed and valuing my ideas. The design that Rafael produced was unreal-- it was so much better than I could have dreamed of and so creatively done to also represent my personality. My actual tattoo day was great- there was no rushing, I had time to sit and check my design without pestering, we discussed ant adaptations and my thoughts before we began. Actual tattooing was great: easily the most comfortable experience I've had as he was so gentle with the needle and regularly checked how I was getting on. I'm thrilled with my design and can't wait to see it healed.

Wanted a "last minute" tattoo with my girlfriend while on holiday in NYC and discovered the place through google maps. I was hesitant at first but seeing that the location was professional and clean put me at ease. The staff is very patient and they really listen to your needs. Very happy with my piercing . I had a nostril piercing 3 months ago . I searched on line and after comparing and contrasting other studios I chose STUDIO 28.. 3 months later I'm still as happy as I was on day one . I had absolutely zero issues with healing. Although I can be honest that Saylor is quite a shocker.. in about 2 min.you realize this guy really knows everything about piercing. He is incredibly competent . I had no redness, no swelling at all & the placement was perfect . It's very reassuring to know that if you have any questions at all, the knowledgeable staff is an instant message away ..and they respond within minutes . Yesterday I went into Studio 28 Tattoos for my first tattoo, which was big sternum piece. Let me start off by saying when I contacted the one the the artists, Ralph Rosa, he was extremely enthusiastic, kind, and accommodating of absolutely everything I asked of. As I made an appointment, the owner, TJ emailed me, and again I was greeted with the utmost respect, professionalism, as he was was very helpful. When I got to the shop, the staff was welcoming and excited for me. The shop was very clean and you could immediately tell everything was sanitized and fresh. Ralph sat with me for nearly 5 hours as a first timer and KILLED it. His skill is impeccable and truly amazing, I couldn't be any happier with the outcome. I have a chest panel and a third of my back done from this shop, all custom pieces from their artists. Don's have any piercings myself, but that floor is always busy as well. I have had my first (four) tattoos and first (four) piercings done at Studio 28. All my experiences here have been equally professional as they were enjoyable. The staff at Studio 28 is some without a doubt, some of the friendliest people you can meet. They are open to talk and discuss any inquiries or concerns you may have. When I thought one of my ear piercings may have been infected, Kirsten (I’m hoping I didn’t butcher their name, if so I am sorry!) listened to my onslaught of questions and quickly triage my ear. TL;DR no infection and just had to switch to a long back piece. Not to mention they put up with me nonstop talking/jitters just before my piercings tonight. Jason gave me my first tattoos over a year ago and I still love them to this day. I do have to say watch out for TJ. Give him long enough, and he will talk you into getting something done before leave the building; as I just had my nipples done tonight. J/K, TJ if you are reading this you are awesome and always offer valuable advice to my tattoo and piercing inquiries. I look forward to after my current piercings fully heal, so I can move to my next piece. Even if you aren’t set on what you want done, stop by Studio 28 and know the staff is always open to discuss your options and concerns.

I got an industrial piercing done here by Kirsten last week. This studio is by far the best place in New York (trust me, I checked out seven before deciding)! The staff is extremely kind and professional and the studio is pristine. I brought my mom with me, a very anti-modifications woman, and she felt comfortable there! I recommend this place to anyone getting their first piercing or hundredth! They're all fantastic at Studio 28. I don't live in New York, but Kirsten recommended a place in my hometown I could go to if I had any problems with the healing and couldn't make it up. That let me know that they truly care about their customers well being.

Healing it has been very easy -- definitely buy the sterile solution they have available ($10) and follow all their aftercare directions. Went to Studio 28 on my daughter's 7th birthday to get her first set of ear piercings. I read glowing reviews of the place, and honestly the staff and establishment lived up to their (near) 5-star rating. From the moment we stepped in the door as walk-ins, they were friendly and accommodating. They allowed my daughter to pick her own earrings and explained the whole process to us and to her. Saylor did her piercing and, again, was super friendly and patient, often talking calmly and reassuringly to my daughter. He took the time to mark the ears well and then made a quick and nearly painless piercing. My daughter hardly flinched. No tears. He took as much time as was necessary to get it right and make sure she felt comfortable. Bottom line: Yes, you end up paying more than a mall shop for a "simple" ear piercing, but the time and attention they give your child, the level of training of the piercer, the level of sterility and cleanliness, the implant grade quality of the earrings, and the attention to accuracy in placement and orientation of the earrings make it worth every penny. You're punching permanent holes in your child's ears. Do yourselves a favor and do it right. Go to Studio 28.

I was recently (3/11/17) pierced at Studio 28. About six of my girlfriends also got pierced (mostly ear and one genital). All members of the staff were super professional, personable, knowledgeable and strategic with placement. As a doctor, I really appreciate the attention to cleanliness, the packaging of the instruments, the detailed explanation of the instruments/process/aftercare and the piercing artist's specific attention to piercing placement regarding each of our individual anatomy. These artists know what they are doing and they do it well! Kirsten was my piercing artist. She was so awesome and so sweet! I went in the room with my friend who got a labia piercing with Sailor. He was equally amazing! One more shout out to the young man at the counter that welcomed us. He was patient with all 7 of us and answered all of our questions. We never felt rushed or in the way. Kirsten helped me with reinsertion of my septum. I emailed ahead with TJ, and did a walk in. It was about 15 min to pick my jewelry and get it back in! The ring had fallen out after being in about a year and Kirsten used a small taper to put a new ring back in. A small pinch and a check and it was over! A little pain and swelling at home but nothing bad. Great advice and she gave me a card to follow up if I needed to or change my jewelry. I probably will go back there, they have some really nice jewelry.

If you haven’t fully conceptualized your tattoo and a custom but simple one, choose a different parlor because they don’t draw these with you beside them when you want something not straight off of google or Pinterest; they plot shapes and images on a computer. There’s no one on one. And if you still can’t put your ideas into words regardless of the explanations you try to give, photos you show; he’ll make you feel inferior, like a pest and out of your element as if you aren’t spending hundreds of dollars here. I’m sure only my artist is like this but otherwise, I won’t be coming back. Plus my tattoo is a bit off center

Just got 4 piercings at once, in my ears, two were fixing someone else's bad work, two were brand new. Vicki was absolutely fabulous, she had such a calming voice and made me feel completely safe for my first adult piercing experience. 100% recommend, and I'm already looking forward to going back for other possible designs. Clean, fast, precise. Basically painless after the needle was removed. Possibly a long wait time if it's busy, so maybe bring a book or fully charged phone, and definitely let them know if you are in a time crunch. But it's a very comfortable place to hang out, plenty of friendly people to talk to, and I have absolutely no complaints. Best self-care experience I've ever had.

Knowledgeable staff and good selection. One of the cleanest and chillest spots for body modifications I have been to. I got a few piercings here and take other people to get their piercings here as well. Most importantly they care more about your health and safety then a sale and will tell you when they dont reccomended a particular placing or piercing. My friends have gotten tattoos here that have healed beautifully. Highly recommend.

I had such a great experience here! I had done a lot of research to where I wanted to get my tattoo because I wanted a very specific style that I could not find locally. They did not disappoint! I had Jason do my tattoo and he is an amazing artist! It came out exactly how I wanted. Everyone made me feel welcome and comfortable...like I had known them for years...which was very important to me as I was there by myself in nyc for the first time and very nervous. I already get numerous compliments on the tattoo whenever I go out even though it's in that yucky peeling healing stage right now. Jason-I hope your wedding was awesome! I meant to say good luck before I left last week but alas my brain was focused on making sure I caught my train on time. Congratulations! I called very last minute, so they didn't have any available appointments, but the they decided to open 1.5 hours early to help me out. Tom was my artist and he was very professional and personable. I was blown away honestly. I was nervous going in, as I was not even decided between two different piercings. The counter help was just wonderful explaining the different types of jewelry available, and all of the jewelry is beautiful. I really enjoy seeing more than just the basic starter sterling stud or ring look and hate the healing process since you have to wait to switch it out, so they had some amazing starters. If you appreciate art in a piercing, this is really the place for you. Not only do they have an outstanding selection, but I'm pretty sure everything is handmade? Or possibly a good portion is? Regardless, Saylor was the sweetest person who put my troubles at ease, and guided me through piercing my conch. Saylor made it so quick and easy, bless those magic fingers. This place really puts quality and happiness above all else and I am excited to come back and get more! Also super clean and crisp. Everything sterile and just perfect all around.

I had an issue with my piercing, and I came to Studio 28 to purchase proper cleaning products for my piercing. They took their time to explain the prognosis of my piercing -whether it was infected or not. They also gave me a few generous tips of what I could do to keep up with the cleaning! Very friendly staff! Never got anything pierced here, but would come back if I had the chance!

Two weeks ago my friend and I went to NYC for the day and decided we wanted to get something pierced. I did a lot of research beforehand because I didn't want to go somewhere sketchy. Studio 28 had such stellar reviews we decided to come here. We called a little more than an hour before close and they were able to get us in. I got my rook pierced by Saylor. He was so great and very personable. He talked me through the process and explained everything he was going to do. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but it still hurt a little - as to be expected. It's healing quite nicely though still a little sore but from my research it seems pretty normal. If you're considering going here Saylor is great and will make the process so easy! Thanks again!!

I never write reviews, but I had such a fabulous experience with Vicki I wanted to leave her good feedback. I have had a lot of problems over the years with my ear-lobe piercings starting to close up and then bleeding after I don't wear earrings for a few days. I'd recently had enough, and thought I should talk to an expert. I was pretty nervous about walking into a tattoo parlor as a thirty-something mom who looks like the squarest person imaginable- I have zero tattoos and no other piercings. But everyone working at Studio 28 was super nice, and I immediately felt comfortable and like I was in good hands. Vicki in particular was incredibly kind and helpful- she was warm and patient, and she answered all of my questions. I also really appreciated that she didn't try to get me to spend more money or to do extra procedures- I know there are some places that would have tried to convince me to pierce my ears a second time. Anyway this was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend Studio 28!

Amazing experience! I was in the area and decided that I wanted to get a nose piercing. So I walked in the studio, was greeted by very upbeat, kind, and excited people who made me feel extremely comfortable. Although it was more expensive than I originally expected, I had no problem with it because the outcome was amazing. I lost a post to one of my piercings and when I went in to have them put a new one in they broke my jewelry and gave me the wrong post. When I went back in a few months later (I had been away for the holidays) they tried to charge me again for another post change even though they made me come in multiple times for something that should have been easy. I have gone to many professional piercing places to get pierced and have never been talked down to more than with this experience. All I wanted was for them fix the problem that they created and in turn I had to spend more money than I wanted to on a simple post.

Absolute top level tattoo parlour. From the first email I sent to TJ they were very professional and exceeded my expectations. Gunny did a tattoo on my hand, I must say it didn’t really hurt he doesn’t have a heavy hand at all. Gunny is an artist and it shows in his work, my tattoo is a masterpiece. If you want quality and unique ink you won’t find anywhere better than here. Also a little bonus is they play decent music there.

I got a nostril piercing from a woman named Kirsten and she was lovely. She was very patient and calm and explained everything she was doing. She answered all of my questions and took the time to make sure I understood everything that was happening. She also explained how to care for my piercing in great detail and didn't rush me out when she was done.
