If you are looking for quality, definitely go to Smith st. This place holds the finest group of artists in NYC. Most shops have 1 or 2 guys holding down the fort, that's not the case for this place. The crew is very nice and they will make sure that you get what you want. Quality over quantity.

Chris Howell is a legend. I waited 10 years to find the right artist and I found him. Found the shop due to their reputation; The Best in the Biz. My husband got a tattoo by Chris without knowing much about him ; The nurse tattoo. After staring at it in awe for about a month, I decided the time was right and got the peacock. I knew it would be beautiful and it is. What I truly love, though, is how it also has a tough, warrior look. The dichotomy of beauty and badass makes this piece invaluable. My husband is now getting a whole sleeve by Chris. We are so lucky to have found him!!

Got my 2nd tattoo here by Chris Howell before he left! So blessed to have caught him in time. He was nice enough to squeeze me in last minute. All the guys here are absolutely lovely - great conversation! The guy at the front was super helpful in explaining the tegarderm to apply for the next day and even said to call/stop by if ever I needed any help. I'll be back soon enough, gotta save that coin!! So worth it!!!

I had Dan Santoro do a rendition of the Sailor Jerry rum girl and he nailed it!! I was exactly the best customer being that I have a hard time with the pain but he was really chill about it and helped me settle down. A must go if you want a quality traditional tattoo.

They are good tattoo artists, too opionated . won't do the colors or Tattoos you want i mean whos wearing the tattoo me or you . basically theyjust want your money. I've seen a woman get charged one hundred dollars for two letters.if you like white women and are only half white don't go there. Tattoo artists have really snob attitudes they don't like anyone unless they can get your money.

You would think because of all the hype they would be full of themselves. But they are soooo sooo nice! They took their time with you and made sure you’d be happy with your tattoo. A couple of people walked in with small budgets and the staff helped them as much as they can to find something awesome within their budget.
