This was my second time at rising dragon and I love love love it! I had a huge cover up to do on my lower abdomen and Eddi nailed it! He did such an amazing job. And the colors are super vibrant. I had a huge dark tribal tattoo to cover so for the colors to be vibrant was tough. Will definitely be coming back.

First and foremost, if I could give more than five stars I absolutely would. I can undoubtably say that the professionalism, creativity, dedication and cleanliness that the artists at Rising Dragon have toward the craft of tattooing and for the customer is unlike tattoo parlor I have ever been to. I first went to Rising Dragon in August 2018 because I was hoping to get a sleeve on my right arm. The concept was to pay homage to part of my culture that was unique to me and my family. It was so easy and extremely convenient to schedule an appointment and within a week; I had a consultation with Darren, the owner of Rising Dragon. He was patient and listened to what I had conceptualized. He then offered his expert opinion and immediately exceeded any expectation I had envisioned for this tattoo. He was upfront and honest about the amount of time and cost, which I knew by experience, was priced fairly for the quality of work and demographic. Two weeks later, we began working on the sleeve. The experience I had during the consultation and with each session I had with Darren is exactly the why the artists, the staff and Rising Dragon itself have continued to thrive and be at the forefront of tattooing for the last 35 years in New York City. For those of you who are ready to take the plunge for the first time, or for those of you who are looking for the right artist, look now further than The Rising Dragon.

I had the most incredible experience here! I found Ed on Instagram and knew right away that I wanted him to do my tattoo. After several years of having an unfinished tattoo I decided that it was time to have it finished. I interviewed a few different artists at different shops around NYC and decided to go with Darren at Rising Dragon. He and his shop stood out for a couple reasons: 1. The quality, quantity, and diversity of the work that the shop produces. 2. The passion, interest, and the interactive nature of Darren was both refreshing and important to me. I like to know that my artist is not afraid to really look at my tat from different angles, touch the skin, and ask me what I want, all during the consult but also during the session. Also, I value that he clearly listened to me and valued and integrated my input. 3. The brightness and cleanliness of the shop itself. So important to have good lighting and safety/cleanliness protocols in place. 4. The convenience of the shop location. 5. The reasonable rates. I got four hours done on (what I call) my sock of 20+ hours. I feel as though Darren captured the essence of what I wanted, which was for my Phoenix to pop with flaming color, to fill in some cloud transitions, and make my moon look more like a moon. During my session Darren had a nice balance of concentration and chit chat, and made sure that I was comfortable. I had a very positive experience at Rising Dragon and would definitely recommend them. I love my "new" tattoo and will proudly show it off forever.

I’ve gone to Rising Dragon for all of my tattoos over the few years and it’s always been an easy and great experience. Great ambiance, music, friendly artists, and front desk. Shout out specifically to the artist I go to, Ed Cuellar. Ed has done all the work and design on my tattoos. If you need an artist to go to I definitely recommend Ed. He designed and did my first tattoo. I then wanted to extend it to a half sleeve and I had little idea of what I wanted to look like (I know, an artist’s nightmare) but he still designed and made it look amazing. Will definitely go back to Rising Dragon and Ed in the future.

I have been working on a cover-up tattoo since mid September with Ed. He's nothing short of phenomenal. I had a tattoo that was dedicated to my mother. This tattoo was done in 2004. However, the letters were done small at the time and didn't age well. It's hardly legible. This cover-up tattoo is a cross with red roses and scroll that says "Mom". This is massive cover-up. After 5 sessions and seeing the final product, I am really happy happy and grateful to have had Ed work on my cover-up..He's also worked on two cover-up tattoos for my wife. I highly recommend his work and will be back in 2019 to begin my cover-up on my other arm. Thank you Ed!

A complete impulse visit with my friend visiting the city. An unbeatable location, easily accessible. A clean and legitimate operation. A great space with a great staff. Efficient and a great artist. He put up with my annoying, incessant questions and even laughed at my jokes (if I could give him an extra star I would). I had gone to a few shops that told me they couldn’t cover it, but Ed took the challenge and I fell in love with the result so much. There is a difference between someone who can simply tattoo and a tattoo artist. Ed is an artist. His ideas are original and He made me feel comfortable and confident that he can do the coverup. I live in Australia and was to be visiting New York in May 2018. My mother had recently passed away and I was wanting to have a memorial tattoo done. Communication between Rising Dragon and myself was super easy and always was answered promptly. I requested Jason, after having a look at all artists work. As I felt he was the most suitable to the type of work I was wanting done, I have fallen in love with water splash tattoos. Jason was really able to take my drawing to a brand new level and make it a complete original. I can honestly say, if I was ever to have another tattoo done, I think I would be making the journey over to the States as I am extremely happy with how professional and easy it was to communicate, discuss and book my session. Jason made my design of just an outline into a beautiful piece or work that I will forever hold dear to my heart.

We had tattoos done by their guest tattoo artist Jace, Nino and Ed. Ed is a master in cover ups. He covered up a tattoo on my wife she didn't like and it came out beautiful.
