Comment on the people, not the work as I did not get a tattoo but after there experience I'd have to warn people to be wary. I went in to ask about belly button ring jewelry. Note: I already have the piercing, I just wanted a new ring. I was told, "We only tattoo." I said that was fine, but did they know where I could find a ring. Again, I was told "We only do tattoos." I replied that I was asking a different question, and asked if they knew anywhere I could find jewelry. At this point, the manager (I assume) came forward in a rather intimidating way and told me "We not in that business so why would I know anything about it?" After that, his tone became insulting and his language became threatening. Note that I'm not insulting anyway based on my experience, just reporting what happened. So if you get a vibe that clearly, then I'd have to say stay out of this place at all costs. Finally, I went around the corner to Top Shelf and asked them the same question. They replied that they only did tattoos, but couldn't have been more helpful by telling me places that I might try. Even one of their customers offered a suggestion, so when you find a place like that, well, that's where you spend your money.

Mean street is one of the best shops in New York. I have done a cover up and other tattoos there with Johan. Shop always looks clean and my artists always follow good and healthy procedures.

Got my first tattoo done early June 2018. I got my tat done by Nicolai Gaviria. My experience went well. Shop is very clean, guys working there are cool, music was good, but most importantly the tattoo came out great, jus as I asked for it. I will be returning soon as I plan to sleeve up my arm.

It was my first tattoo and they were so friendly I didn’t feel nervous at all. Got a bracelet on each leg below the calves around the shins. Nico freehanded them and liked how they came out. Would recommend to all.

The minute I walked in the guy at the desk gave my boyfriend a dirty look. We asked nicely what exactly we were looking to do. All we wanted to do was ask him to do a simple and small tattoo on our fingers. He was so quick to turn us away just cause we wanted to get a finger tattoo.... he said they don’t do finger tattoos... uuummm why not?

Tommy listened patiently to my request (to add something to the tattoo I had) he took a look and drew a few things over the tat and told me to come in the next day to take care of it!!!!!! Got my first tattoo yesterday and honestly I couldn't be happier. TOMMY, is an amazing guy and artist. He provided great feedback when I came in with my initial idea for the design and we collaborated and it came out perfect. TOMMY IS THE PERSON TO GO SEE. Came in last year, started at 8pm owner actually worked with me casually on a 4 hour piece rainy day just us in the shop.. finished around midnight.. he would stay until 5am if he had to he’s awesome. Going back in soon.
