I couldn't have had a better experience at Fleur Noire. I had been a fan of Laura's from Instagram and knew that she was the perfect artist for me. I had sent an email about booking, but her books were closed. Then one day I got an email from her awesome assistant about an opening on a Sunday, so I had to say yes! When I got to the shop, the vibe inside was amazing. It was calming with candles and beautiful plants around the shop to ease any nerves I had. Laura drew up a few options and we worked together to make the piece I had envisioned in my head. She took her time perfecting every detail and it was a very collaborative experience. During the tattoo, Laura was quick and painless, and lovely to chat with. I couldn't be happier with how my tattoo turned out! It's absolutely beautiful and I feel so proud to walk around with this stunning tattoo by Laura everyday now. If you're looking for an awesome overall tattoo experience, this is the shop you need to go to. Thank you to Laura and her assistant for making my appointment happen, I can't wait to come back for more ink and recommend the shop to everyone interested in getting a beautiful tattoo!

It was my 2nd tattoo but the 1st for my companion, she was a little apprehensive but Don Andres was at the top and was able to reassure her. We went without an appointment and we were taken after 1 hour of waiting because the show runs very well. Nothing to complain about hygiene and staff. Very easy to locate and very fast access even for us who have our hotel in the heart of Manhattan. C’était mon 2e tatouage mais le 1e pour ma compagne, elle appréhendait un peu mais Don Andres a été au top et a su la rassurer. Nous y sommes allé sans rendez vous et on a été pris après 1h d attente car le salon tourne très bien. Rien à redire sur l’hygiène et le personnel. I definitely do not recommend this place if it's your first tattoo. If you make an appointment I would call several times to confirm, maybe even ask to speak to the artist directly. Don't just email the shop for an appointment- I exchanged 3 emails with them almost two weeks in advance in which I sent pictures and explained what I wanted. They said they were unable to give me a quote so I'd have to come in for a consultation appointment which I at first thought was fine. They gave me an appointment time and I replied to confirm. I show up early for my appointment with Cinar and they dont even ask for my name or act like they were going to check the list at the front desk- just introduced me to him. Cinar sat with me for less than two minutes, took one glance at my pictures and where I wanted it and told me it would be $500 and maybe 1 hour for the small b&w orchid tattoo. But said he couldn't even draw it for me today because I didnt have an appointment. He didn't seem interested in doing this at all for me. They didnt even attempt to see if any other artists were available or refer me to anyone else. Once I asked a few more questions he then took me to the secretary who then tried to find me an appointment. So I'm not sure if that was supposed to be my "consultation" but I found it to be very disappointing and underwhelming. If all he had to do was take one look at my pictures to give me a price why couldn't they do that over email and save me the time? I was visiting a friend in Manhattan and wasted both our time by going to this studio in Williamsburg. And $500 for a simple flower tattoo that would take one hour? My friend got a much larger, very complicated tattoo with color in San Francisco for that price. Seems like they might have been trying to rip me off. My friend also told me there are much better places with better prices in Manhattan that she's been to for piercings and such where the staff is friendlier and more helpful. This place only gets two stars from me due to the cleanliness of the studio. I'm sure their tattoo artists are amazing in talent, but the shop seems very unorganized and careless regarding communication and customer experience. A big disappointment.

I wanted to get a tattoo for my birthday gift. I went to the studio and made an appointment with Jaz. She said she doesn't have any available dates on Saturday and she doesn't work on Sunday but for me and my friend can come. So we made an appointment for Sunday. Me and my friend came there on the day when we supposed to get our tattoos. We were waiting around 45 minutes when Jaz called to the studio and said she is in Boston?! and she forgot. Ok it happens... We made new appointments but unfortunately I couldn't go to mine and I called tehm before and asked if we can reschedule. We rescheduled new, third appointment. On the day when I supposed to get my tattoo (it was Saturday) I called to the studio and asked them if nothing has changed. The lady on the phone said nothing has changed and I have appointment at 5pm. I was on my way to the studio when I got a text message 20 minutes before my appointment saying "Hey it's Fleur Noire, we had a customer that came really late for his appoinment and has delayed Jaz considerably, we were wondering if you could come at 8pm instead ? We are so sorry for the incovenience”. 8 pm seriously?! I really wanted to get that tattoo but because of your studio I wasted so much time instead! I never met a company that would treat a client in this way! I don't recommend that studio!

I have very mixed feelings about this place and my experiences here. This review is not of any one particular artist/experience at the shop but my total experiences (3 tattoo sessions) interacting the artists/staff. Overall, I think the quality of the work I've received from the shop is really excellent. The craft and technique the artists have is amazing and makes for a quality tattoo. That being said, my experience with the client service aspect of the shop was lackluster. My wait times, WITH an appointment, at the Metropolitan Ave location were over 90 minutes and on one occasion, the artist didn't have the correct info about the tattoo I had requested. For my second session at the main shop, I found communication with the artist to be really annoying. They would always reply to my emails but it still took about 4 months to get artwork when I was quoted 2 weeks. My second tattoo also did not turn out as it was designed but the artist made adjustments at my request so that I would be happy enough to wear it. My experience when going to the private studio, however, was stellar and I have no complaints there. I'll definitely be going back to Fleur Noire for at least one or two more pieces because the artists do great work but I don't think I'll be having any more work done at the main space, to avoid extensive wait times and miscommunication.

Save yourself the fustration and don't come here. I (tried) to come here because so many of their artists have beautiful, original, single line work. I started emailing the shop at the end of September. I made an appointment with Andre for mid- October. A week before the appointment I tried emailing him with requests for my design, to confirm he was confident he could give me what I wanted. I never received a response until the night before I received an email that simply said "I'll follow your instructions." When I showed up for my appointment I waited 10 minutes for him to show me some drawings, sketches identical to the photo I sent. I politely said that was a reference and not exactly what I wanted. He went back down stairs and came up 20 minutes later with drawings I didn't like, and then did the same thing 2 more times. None of the drawing were original, they were almost exact replicas of the reference image (another artists work!) After being in the shop for an hour with minimal face time with the artist I complained to the desk and they set me up with a different artist, Burak. Within 20 minutes we had the tattoo I wanted ready. We set up an appointment for 2 weeks later. When that appointment came time, something came up on their end and Burak rescheduled for another 2 weeks later. When I emailed to confirm the rescheduled appointment, they had given it to someone else and offered another appointment 2 more weeks away! All this time they were holding onto my $100 deposit. This is incredibly poor customer service and obviously shows they don't care about their clients. Needless to say I'm walking away 2 months after this process started fustratedwith them, with no tattoo, and with a lot of my time wasted.

I had a birthday appointment with Andres on January 12. I had been corresponding with the shop via email for about a month or so regarding my appointment and design. I was able to get the day and time that I wanted, as I was in NYC for only the weekend with friends. Andres took my idea and made it even better than I could imagine! My tattoo placement was down my sternum and under my breasts and he was extremely respectful the entire time. He gave me pasties and placed dividers around the table for privacy and I felt completely comfortable with him. The tattoo is healing beautifully and I could not be happier and more in love with it. The shop was easy to find, clean, and all of the artists were very nice. If I could come back for every single tattoo I would. Thank you so much, Andres and everyone at Fleur Noire! I am in love with my newest addition!

I came in for cover up work and met with Cinar for an initial consultation and then a second appointment for the actual tattoo. I appreciated that Cinar took the time to meet and discuss the artwork with me on a separate visit. He was easy to communicate with, attentive, and great at explaining the process that goes behind designing a cover up. Scheduling was easy and I did it on site. As far as pricing goes, I think it is very fair and standard for a great studio in NYC. On the actual day of the appointment, Cinar showed me the artwork and I was immediately blown away. I was excited to get this piece done, but even more so when I saw the design he created. The process of getting tattooed was smooth as well-a very clean and bright environment. I felt relaxed the entire time (or as relaxed as you can be while getting a tattoo...). Overall, I'm really happy with the end result and glad to have had the opportunity to be tattooed here.

I was very lucky to be tattooed by @evakrbk , an authentic artist. Prices are quite high, but it is your skin and you should just aim to the best.

Came here to get a piece from Emma Grace. She did a fantastic job on a hand piece for me and I would rate working with her 5 stars. I gave a 4 star instead because the customer service at the front desk is always awkwardly lukewarm. If you come in, they don't ask you if you're here to see someone. Every time I've come in, they just stare at me and then usually just walk away. Then they act like I'm bothering them. I eventually just go sit down until my artist comes to get me. Makes me very torn about my experience because I really love Emma's work.

I want to start off saying that the tattoo artist was super nice and chill but the guy at the desk has the type of attitude that’ll make you think twice about spending your hard earned money. He acts as if your bothering him by asking questions pertaining to your tattoo, just full nasty attitude. I originally wanted to get a piece on my foot. He told me that he doesn’t recommend getting it for my first tattoo. I didn’t take it any way but I asked him why not. He goes on to tell me that it requires more work to take care of it. I thought to myself “oh ok, doesn’t any and all tattoo require more work based on the placement “. Then I asked him to explain what this “extra work” what consisted of and completely with an attitude has a hard time explaining himself. I told him I’ll get different tattoo but on my spine. A small piece nothing big, about 5 inches. He told me he’s setting my friend and I up for 6 p.m. when we walked in it was 4 p.m. we went to get food and told him we’ll be back in time for our session which we were. We came back about 30 minutes before 6. He see us and doesn’t say anything not that I expected him to because we spoke already. Two other women come it and tell him what they want and he made time for their tattoo just as me and friend did. In about 10 minutes they were getting their tattoo, he’s handing everyone things and assisting everyone but my friend and I. We ask him if remember that we were here for a piece. He said that he don’t think that we can get our pieces done due to the time and how big our tattoos going to be which made no sense because the lady was getting a small tattoo by an artist in the front entrance and he asked him if he has time the guy said he has time for both my friend and I, however because of the nasty attitude he gave us I didn’t want my first tattoo to be done at this location. With that being said save your time and your money there’s a tattoo shop up the block that took care of what my friend and I wanted in less then 2 hours for amazing prices, and the workers were friendly and warming to me and my friend making our first experience fun and I would definitely go back there for more work. They even clearly explained to me why I shouldn’t get my foot tattoo at this time.

I had the opportunity to get my first tattoo at Fluer Noir. I’m really happy with the final result. I was so worried that I would have to post a picture of my tat on the regretful tattoo website, but I don’t because Cinar executed my favourite Picasso sketch perfectly. I guess the only flaw to this tattoo parlour is that there are too many obnoxious hipsters who work at this facility. While I was waiting for Cinar, I was eavesdropping on a consultation. I tried not to laugh but I swear the tattoo artist learned her English dialect from Bill and Ted. Example, “so, like do you want some geometric design and an owl with some color. Cool.”

Evgenii was prompt in responding to my initial email, sketched nearly exactly what I want when we met for a consultation, sent me the sketch a few days before the appointment and conducted the session expertly- my tattoo is incredible. (THANKS!) I was in the chair for 3 hours so I had the chance to observe some other artists as well. Everyone seemed extremely friendly end patrons seemed as satisfied as myself. What a great experience! Thank you to the whole staff for making my first tattoo amazing. Thanks to Cinar for the great design and helping me stay relaxed despite my nerves. Absolutely love my new tattoo! Definitely listen to their recommendations -- don't take more than 1 friend. The space is small and there just isn't a lot of room to have company around you. I think my only criticism is that I would have preferred more prep and communication about the appointment. Maybe that's just me, but I like to make sure I'm doing everything right ahead of time for such a big deal as body augmentation. They didn't confirm the appointment with me (I called them to confirm), and they didn't give much in the way of prep instructions. I did a lot of research on my own, and that's what prepared me. Again, maybe that's just personal preference. I still loved the experience and will definitely be back! A few tips: - make sure to moisturize the area for your tattoo for 1+ month ahead of time to ensure your skin is in the best shape for the tattoo. - Drink lots of water in the week prior to your tattoo. Hydration is key. - Don't drink alcohol the night before or the 72 hours after your tattoo. Alcohol is a blood thinner and can screw up your tattoo. - Don't take pain meds before the appointment, as they're blood thinners.

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience with Fleur Noire. We were traveling from Australia to NYC for a few days in early November and did a lot of research on NYC artists and chose Laura and Andres. We booked and paid our deposits 3 months ahead. We sent through a lot of information for the designs we wanted and were told the artists would draft up designs to be ready for our appointments. We popped into the studio about 2 hours before to ask how they preferred payment. It took about 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there and even then, it was one of the artists who was on her way out the door, she said cash was best. We went and withdrew the huge amount of cash we we’d need for the work then returned about 3:10 in time for our appointments at 3:30. I told the guy at the desk we were there for our appointments with Laura and Andres, he looked concerned and said he’d be with us in a minute. He went out the back to make a call and was out there for a long time. We could tell something was definitely not right. In the mean time, after Laura finished with another client she was typing on her phone for quite a while - I got an email from her at that time asking if she could reschedule my appointment as she had a toothache and had to go to the dentist - this email was sent just 15 minutes before my appointment. I got Laura’s attention and told her I’d already arrived, she explained that she needed to see the dentist and could we reschedule for tomorrow. We were only in NYC for 4 days and had put aside that afternoon for the tattoos. I asked her what was going on with the appointment for my partner as it appeared Andres wasn’t even there. They then explained that there had been a mistake with the booking and Andres was on his day off. They offered us another artist to come in and do my partners tattoo, however Laura asked again if we could reschedule for mine. I said I really couldn’t do any other time, I was only in town for another 2 days and had other plans. She begrudgingly agreed to do my tattoo then, asking me how big I wanted it - presumably to get an indication of the time it would take, she then went back to finishing up with her previous client. My partner declined the offer of another artist - he had specifically chosen Andres. Laura clearly did not want to do mine then and it appeared that she wasn’t prepared either - I had sent through all the details of the size and placement but she seemed unaware of this, so I’m not sure she’d even done up the sketch. I was really uncomfortable and decided I didn’t want to be sitting there being tattooed by someone who was clearly unwell and didn’t want to be doing the work. We got our $200 deposits back in cash and left pretty disappointed. While we got our deposits back, we had actually lost money in this whole debacle - we did not get the PayPal transaction fees refunded and as we were traveling from Australia, we had a bunch of transaction and conversion fees that we had to pay on the deposits plus getting the cash out from ATM. We were also left with a huge amount of cash that we weren’t going to be able to use in 2 days and therefore would lose money on converting them back to Australian dollars. Not to mention the whole afternoon we’d wasted and the cab charges to get there and back. I fully understand that Laura wasn’t feeling well and that was out of her control, but I would have appreciated an email earlier in the day. I’m also disappointed that she didn’t seem familiar with the design I was after, her question about the size made me think she’d not even read the brief, let alone prepared a sketch. The situation for my partner’s appointment was beyond ridiculous, deposit was paid and several emails exchanged - how did it get missed? While the tattoos I have seen these guys do for other clients is really beautiful work and the studio was nice and clean, our experience was a complete waste of time and money - both of which are pretty valuable things when you’re traveling!

I got my chest piece finished here by an artist i had seen at a different shop. This place is very small and when there is a lot of people being worked on it can be packed in the work space, but from my experience having so many people so close together just meant there was more people to talk to while my tattoo was being done and more opportunities to distract myself from the feeling. Its like a little community. Aside from that its very clean and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I certainly can't wait to go back again.

It's small and probably not well suited for walk-ins, but it is the place to go if you want something meaningful and lasting. Bahar did my recent tattoo and I would use her again. I also want to have work done in the future by other artists working there. The studio is clean, the people are friendly, the art is chill, and their vibe is just what I wanted.
