Friday the 13th - the Black Friday for tattoo shops. $13 tattoo + $7 tip. $20 Cash at Daredevil for a small, cute pineapple tattoo. Score! That is until you meet the lazy, unhelpful staff after you wait 2.5 hours in line. You're out of the stencil transfers? Unwilling to make more? No empathy? Nothing. Where's the announcement in your self described "tattoo museum"? Not even a heads up. Instead I get a "what else do you want?" when I sit down? I get it - the tattoo artists are banging out tattoos. 75-100 in a day? That's some serious cash. So you have that in your pocket and obviously don't care if you make a few measly bucks more. Unapologetic. Waste of time. Go somewhere else on Friday the 13th and definitely go somewhere else any other day. I know I will. Update: Went to West Village where the tattoo shops were abundant and the drawings better.

This is very classic NYC shop with a lot of NYC tattoo history on display. I'd recommend checking out their artists before making an appointment. Me, I made an appointment with Ok and he does single needle, single line, micro tats. I'm a collector of high end ink from artists and he gave me one of my favorite pieces - maybe two inch micro script. His control leads to simplicity and simiplicity with art is beautiful. The shop gets 4 stars and Ok gets 5 stars.

I have been getting tattoos from Daredevil for at least 6 years (starting at their older location in the LES). My go-to guy is Diego. He always does an excellent job. All but one of my tattoos are from him. The shop is clean and friendly. The other artists are always posting amazing work so I am confident that whoever does your ink will crush it. I highly recommend a visit!

Got my first tattoo many years ago when Daredevil Tattoo was on Ludlow Street. I was introduced to them by my now former boyfriend's brother. Loved that the artist was super nice and talked me through the whole experience. Yes, tattoos hurt dammit but after the experience you come away feeling energized. I went back and got 2 more tats after that from Daredevil. I haven't been Daredevil in a long time (almost a 20 years, my how times flies...) I want at least 2 more but I am a bit tender now. Don't know if I can be the same hard ass I was when I was 20 years old. I will have to seek them out at this location and see if I can get a small tattoo soon.

Wish I could remember this girls name... I went here on Friday the 13th to get a $13 tattoo. The staff was extremely friendly and talkative with me and helped me with ideas for my future tattoos after showing them the artwork I want to get. So the waiting process was seamless. Then here comes my artist. Probably tired from giving quick tattoos all day and stressed. So while she's smiling and friendly she's still a little short and rush. Now I know it's a $13 tattoo so It's not going to be perfect and I'm not supposed to complain, but when she made the cigar I was getting look exactly like a blunt and even forgot to draw in the 13 (the most important part). I can get mad. It was in an awkward place so I didn't notice the error till later that night. I had to go back the next day to get it fixed and she wouldn't fix the cigar but reluctantly (didn't say a word to me just had an attitude the whole time) fixed my tattoo after I talked to her boss. I get it's cost to open up ink and a new needle but come on don't give me attitude because you rushed your work on my skin. I'd go again but would find a different artist. Rant over.

They consulted me for easily an hour before I decided upon the final design; a weathered ACME anvil. A great place to get a tattoo.

This shop is very cool. They have tattoo memorabilia and antique tattoo machines in display cases all along the walls with some interesting literature about the history of tattooing in America and more specifically in New York. The parking is not great but not too bad either. I drove for four hours to get some work done by visiting artist Christina Christie. She is absolutely incredible and gave me an unbelievable tattoo. All the staff seem like very capable and versatile artists. I saw some cool peices get inked while I was there. It was an awesome experience and I cant wait to go back.

I was really disappointed with my experience at Daredevil tattoo. My friend and I went in and had a good chat with the guy who worked there who was really friendly initially. We went away for a few hours to look at reviews/check out different places in the area but it looked good, so we came back. By the time we were seen (after waiting for around an hour - which we were happy to do) the shop was closing up and we were the last customers. It's also my first tattoo so my friend and I had had a couple of drinks and were excited when we went in. I feel like for these reasons we weren't treated like regular customers - I definitely sensed disdain from the guy doing it. My tattoo was rushed and I'm really unhappy with the result. Annoyingly I didn't really get a chance to inspect it properly before it was covered, as well as thinking the bleed was temporary. As you can see it's a pretty simple design but it's wonky, uneven thickness and has bled a lot. I'm not an unreasonable person and know mistakes happen but I emailed Daredevil the next day, looking for the offer of a touch up at least and have heard nothing back! We also felt bad for making him stay late so gave a $30 tip! (photo won't upload here annoyingly - but shows on google maps) Google won't allow me to respond to the reply given, however: - we were in no way intoxicated and I sat perfectly still whilst it was being done - I simply meant I was excited as looking forward to getting my first tattoo - it's strange that they can't find the email as I'd sent the design to them on the same address with no problem - as I said in the email I live in London and was only in NY for 10 days so it's too late to go back for a touch up - over 2 weeks has passed and it looks the same - it's just really bad execution of a very simple design

Had an amazing experience with Daredevil in June of this year when I got tattooed by Yoon, who is a wonderfully talented and exceptionally friendly artist, as a walk-in appointment. The finished piece absolutely blew my mind and I could not have been happier with the service, staff, cleanliness of the shop and procedures undertaken to ensure I was happy with my finished piece and that it was delivered in a hygienic and sanitary way. The shop is amazing, and being able to look at designs which are decades, or even over a century, old is super interesting- not to mention being able to have them inked on your skin after seeing them! Even if you can't get tattooed, it is 110% worth making the journey just to see some of the incredible pieces of tattoo history which they have on display. If I ever make it back to NYC, I will 100% be heading back to Daredevil to have Yoon put something else amazing on my skin.Thanks again, Team Daredevil!

As someone who has been collecting tattoos for more than 25 years, the experience I have with an artist and shop is just as important to me as receiving a well-made tattoo. My experience with Pete at Daredevil was both of these but was also unlike any tattoo experience I've ever had. I asked Pete for guidance with selection via email before our appointment, and he gently suggested that I try a piece of vintage flash in the shop's museum collection. I've only ever gotten custom tattoos, so this was a first for me, but I trusted him and went with his suggestion. Not knowing what I was going to get until I was able to peruse the walls at the time of my appointment was thrilling! I found a beautiful piece on the wall, and after seeing Pete's excitement about tattooing it, I knew it was the right choice. The rest of the appointment went like this with Pete giving me options and gently guiding me toward what would make the best tattoo possible. I actually felt like my appreciation for the art, history, and culture of tattooing grew with this experience, and I'm so grateful for that! This shop is a sweet little haven nestled in Chinatown. The atmosphere was relaxing, friendly, and professional. It was a pleasure to hang out there for an afternoon with reggae playing inside and snow falling outside. And as a memento of this lovely day, I have a tattoo that suits my personality and style, and I'm so grateful to Pete for his sharing his craft with me.
