Very unreasonable prices. They said I would have to pay them $200 for a very small, very simple tattoo that ended up only taking 20 minutes to complete at another place I went to.

Went in for a tattoo today after reserving time for the appointment many months in advance. Kevin didn't have a sketch or any idea as to what I'd be getting despite me sending a very detailed email with reference pictures. I had also explicitly stated that I needed the tattoo to be done in one session as I have other commitments (and I'd need to request time off from work). After getting seen late by about 30 minutes, we started discussing ideas and we came up with one after some time. He started working on it but was very easily distracted by random happenings in the shop. While the artwork is absolutely amazing, after about 2 hours, he stops and tells me that the rest of it needs to be done in another session. The stencil outline isn't completed and I'll need to go to another shop that can actually commit to finishing a tattoo in one session per my request. Overall I'm very disappointed as I've been to many tattoo shops but have never had an experience like this. It was great artwork, but a terrible customer experience. I'm only writing this to warn future customers in case they are considering this shop for a tattoo that needs to be done in one session.

High quality work here. Kevin (the owner) is amazing. He takes the time to talk about what you want and what you’re looking for, and his customizations are some of the best I’ve seen. I love that he’s trained all of his staff because it ensures the same high quality work. $200 an hour for Kevin might sound pricey, but when you look at the detail and amount of effort and individuality that goes into his tattoos, the price is very worth it. He’s also super nice and very chill. I can’t recommend this place enough.

I don't usually write reviews but Kevin deserves the credit. I drive or take the train from wash d.c. to NY every couple months to get work done by him. Hes very accommodating, talented and he's works are phenomenal. I get compliments all the time from EVERYBODY. Also, one of the nicest person I've ever encountered. Highly recommend this place!!

Drexyl is an INCREDIBLE artist. He does a great job. Sure, the tattoos are expensive, but if you want a generic tattoo, go somewhere else. If you want a unique tattoo that is going to last, Black Fish is the place for you.

I highly recommend this place. The communication and response time is spectacular. Carla was wonderful to email with. She answered all my questions and answered within the hour. Manchwi did a wonderful job on my tattoo, he was very patient and helped me work out what I wanted. It's was a tough 5.5 hours session (total 10 hour appointment). He did a wonderful job keeping me comfortable and focused. I would highly recommend you check out his portfolio as an artist I would recommend paying in Cash/Venmo. Credit cards are charged tax and PayPal was too difficult (PayPal charges BlackFish a fee, so it's best to not use this method).

Exceptional experience. I spent a number of hours here and found the vibe of the studio great. The artists all seemed really genuine and professional. Special shout out to Chris who did mine, super experience from consultation to completion. Chris is seriously talented and the amount of detail and incredible shading work blew me away. If you're looking for detailed fine lines and shading, I'd strongly recommend Chris J. Prices ain't cheap but well you get what you pay for. Will definitely return.

From the moment I touched base with my artist the comfort level was like nothing I had previously experienced! The studio itself has such a cool atmosphere. The artists are helpful and polite but their skills across the board are astounding! I highly recommend Chris! Her work on my Legend of Zelda Tat nearly brought tears to my eyes. I have never had ink this good with so much care put in. You get what you pay for and today I feel like I got a bit more! Stunning job will def be a return customer!

Loved it! This tattoo shop is hidden gem of gifted artists. Like the guy said below me it cost $200 so no cheapo's if you want the goodness. My tattoo artist was Jay and he finessed my back tattoo! He took his time. My small tattoo took about an hour, shows the expertise and precision he used. For something thats permanent I definitely wanted quality. His script is beautiful and his lines are fine. Which is just what I wanted. I cant wait to see how it looks in a few weeks!

I came across to Blackfish tattoos and saw their instagram account and liked their work so i took a chance and met one of the artist.
