I was about to give this place a bad review due to one of the artists that I’m not naming, he didn’t keep his word about a touch up. He give me the run around for about 4 months I went in talked to the owner a couple of hours later TK gave me a call said he would do the touch up for the other artist he was absolutely amazing TK is 110% recommended from me. He was professional fast and has some good techniques he’s good at what he dose and fast.! Happy with the end result.!

This is the cleanest shop I’ve ever visited! Vern did a Medusa piercing for me. He’s super precise and did amazing at keeping me comfortable. He also provided everything I need for aftercare for my piercing, and made sure to walk me through each step. I’d definitely recommend getting pierced by him.

INSANE shop, just went for a little labret stud and was pierced by Vern, absolutely amazing decor and a (what seems like) endless selection of gorgeous, quality jewelry that's extremely clean and organized. There's convenient parking right off central behind the building. As for the service, super quick, professional, informative, un-intimidating and friendly. Will definitely be going back for more stuff! 10/10!

Made an appointment and the artist "forgot" she was going out of town and canceled. She accused me of being disrespectful when I voiced my concerns about going through with a second appointment because that was "her process." After calling me disrespectful for second guessing her, she still urged me to go look at the tattoo. She asked that I bring cash and not card in the midst of all this. *After seeing the response to my review, I think the owner may have me confused with someone else. I have not had any experience with Ascension before this incident. My first appointment was canceled by the artist. My second appointment was canceled by me. And that was that. My real name isn't even listed. Sorry for any confusion.

My go to guy for piercings is Vern. I trust him. I had a vertical labret on the right side of my lip and both tragus pierced by him. I have gone to many to size down and change jewelry and he is the only one who doesn't cause me pain while changing jewelry or more swelling afterwards. He's friendly, clean, and professional. I recommend him

Started a tattoo and left a deposit. Artwork done while neat was not inline with the intent or purpose of the desired tattoo. After that there was no further communication, no revisions towards what I was looking for or anything. I'm viewing this as a waste of $50. Reading other reviews this might be a pattern with this shop.

Only place that was open when they said they were going to be in ABQ after visiting 3 other shops. The simple septrum ring was a little more expensive than I expected but, I was in a pinch and needed one that day. So far so good.

missed my appointment due to email miscommunication with the artist, Eddie, and don't blame him at all. the owner of the shop however, who was so professional he didn't even tell me his name, was extremely unhelpful and condescending. I called the day after I made the appointment, less than twelve hours actually, and was told the owner would call me back to discuss a refund. this was one of two times that I was told he'd be in touch and then ignored. in short, no matter how good the artists are the management is, at best, forgetful and unprofessional, and at worst someone who cares more about a couple hundred bucks than integrity or art Edit: these guys add excuses to their google reviews way faster than they sort out things like "money" and "appointments".

I am so glad I went here!! Boy was amazing!! My husband and I had been to a few other shops and did not find what we were looking for. We decided to stop by and I am so glad we did. We walked in and were greated right away with friendly service. I explained that I was looking to get a tattoo done on my left shoulder and I was introduced to Boy. I explained to him that I wanted a tattoo and wanted it that same day. I showed him some pictures of what I wanted and he seemed to excited to draw it up. He explained everything that he could do with the pictures that I had shown him. After a few hours of drawing he text me stating that the drawing was done and to come take a look. When we got there the drawing that he created was just what I wanted. Once everything was finalized on the drawing he got started and 5 hours later it was done. The tattoo came out better then I could ever imagine! There is so much detail in everything and the colors are amazing on the flowers and hummingbird. My husband is planning on going in to get something done in the near future!! Thanks again Boy!!

Ascension may be the best modification studio I have ever been to and certainly one of the best in New Mexico. The shop is extremely clean and inviting. They are among the few that carry top designer body jewelry (Anatometal, Maya, Diablo Organics, etc). The piercers (Vern and Kyle) are incredibly knowledgable, professional, and have produced some of the best work I've seen in the state. If you're lucky enough to catch Steve Truitt, when he isn't touring about suspending people, you can have the chance to have work like scarification, ear repairs, and other more "extreme" modifications done. He created the lotus scarification done on both my arms and I couldn't be happier with how beautifully they came out. Ascension is also home to some of the best tattoo artists in the state. Big Ed's select use of color in his grey scale pieces is phenomenal and he's worked there ever since I can remember. The man knows what he's doing. Although new to the shop, John Henderson is also an extremely talented artist. I'm amazed at the work he's been producing. He might actually be one of the top artists in the industry. If you're looking to get any body modification work done then I highly suggest stepping into Ascension, looking at their portfolios, and chatting them up.

Decided to get a small tattoo on vacation...an anchor on my ankle. The guy at the desk was extremely rude and set the tone for our entire visit. I was told that the shop minimum was $60, but I was quoted $75 for a small, basic tattoo and ended up paying $82 after tax. I was in the shop for an hour and half before my tattoo was completed. I have many tattoos and have never encountered the amount of entitlement that I saw at this shop. Very disappointed in my experience here.

I've only been to Ascension once, but it was pretty darn great. I went in last week for a simple navel piercing, and Kyle was professional through and through. He walked me through the whole process and explained each step to me, which, even as somebody with as many piercings as I have, is something I haven't experienced before. He was very thorough, and I'd definitely go back to him again. It was a little pricey compared to what I'm used to, but I definitely got what I paid for.

I went to this shop with a few friends who all wanted to get pierced. Originally I would have gone to Evolution Body Piercing and would have had them do it. However, they closed early that night. So, In a rush we settled for this shop, Ascension Body Modification. Something we all regretted! That night I was on the table for more than an hour. I decided to get an industrial piercing with a two point hook piercing connecting it all. However, the artist, if he can be called that at all, couldn't manage. It was the most painful piercing experience of my life. And I have over 20 piercings threw out my body. After an hour on the table and bleeding and swelling tremendously he got all the bars connected. However before then, my friend manage to faint and hit her head on the wall. The staff did nothing to help her or comfort her and left her on the ground while I was on the table bleeding all over and unable to move. He messed up so bad on my piercing I went to evolution along with my friend who got a hook piercing ( which also took 30 minutes to complete) to get a second opinion. Mine had to be removed ASAP due to the wrong placement and angle of the piercing and due the the wrong size of the jewelry. Not to mention my entire ear was bruised black and blue all over. So all the pain and blood I went threw was pointless. Not to mention the money I spent. My third friend even refused to get pierced after me. None of us will ever go back. They are awful and should not be aloud to pierce the human body!

Unprofessional. Artists are ok but whatever you do, avoid the hippy named Grey. He will take all 4-5 hours to do a 2 hour job, not finish the work that was agreed upon, and probably show up late if you have an appointment. I would suggest that you shop around and visit some other places.
