Made a trip to New York in February 2016, I live in California. I thought it would be perfect to get my first tattoo from a very well known shop and my artist was Rob Green. Little did I know I would pay $350 for an hour tattoo that turned out awful. The color fell out in 2 days. After it healed the tattoo now looks like it's 20 years old. No color, black lines are all faded to grey and some spots there is blue in the black. Missing black lines were there should be black lines, and multiple spots with harsh scarring. I took in comparrasion shots to a local tattoo shop in California showing them if it was normal and their response was "sometimes when other artist try to copy others it doesn't turn out the same." I responded by saying that both pictures were my tattoo from first day to now and they were in disbelief. Couldn't believe it was the same tattoo. I called, emailed, and reached out on social media to rob Green and bang bang and never got any response. The 2 times I called they tried blaming me. The first time I called "I didn't put enough ointment on" the second time I called "you might have put to much ointment on" absolutely ridiculous. My girlfriend also got a tattoo that day, paid $350 for a 10 min tattoo, very simple one color and hers turned out fine. Terrible experience and terrible decision on my part to trust this shop for my first tattoo.

By far one of the best shops in the city. I've been in the shop over the transgression of a year. I've been going almost monthly for appointments with many of the artists there, like Mr. K, Kristi, Liz, Balaz and Max to name a few. They're all outstanding artists in their own way. Coming from someone who has gotten various tattoos from numerous artists, including Mike Rubendall from Kings Ave Tattoo. This shop has become part of my family in a very weird way. I personally believe that everyone at the shop works hard and to their fullest potential. If you're thinking about getting a tattoo here, go for it. Pick up the phone and call, walk in for a consult. I got my half sleeve done a few months back at BangBang, I had an amazing experience. My work was done by a guest artist (not going to to name) and we had a misunderstanding over the pricing via e-mail. Both the artist and I speak english, but it is our second language. We discussed the situation with the studio manager (not naming), and we came to an agreement. I didn’t know what to expect flying in from the other side of the country, being 19 years old, and getting 16 hours of work for my first tattoo. The studio is very professional on ALL ends. The only thing i could say is that as nice, helpful, professional, the manager was throughout both sessions... when it came to the money conflict he got a little bit arrogant and sarcastic. Which I understand because money is a very serious/important topic but As professional as they were, i think it could’ve been handled differently. Other than that, this studio is World Class

I have been following Okan’s work on Instagram for quite a while and was beyond excited when I learned that he was moving to NYC. Went to Bang Bang to see him for first consultation and was pleasantly surprised that he accepted my request (my design has color and a few artists had said no to me because they preferred to not work with color). Making the appointment was easy, we stayed in touch through emails. Okan was friendly and professional, never went MIA, which can happen quite often in my past experience with other artists. I went back to see him again two months later. The appointment started on time, Okan presented a few design options to me upon meeting up. We went over the options, bounced ideas off each other, and came up with a design that we both agreed on. The communication was not straight forward knowing he was not fluent in English but we had no problem understanding each other. The tattooing took place at a very high traffic area in the studio, which was quite distracting. The process was faster than I thought, but was extremely satisfied after seeing the fantastic work he created. After the visit, he followed up with a detail aftercare instruction via email. The entire experience came with a hefty price tag but it's worth every penny, you know what you are signing up for when walking into Bang Bang. This place has many high quality artists, and I couldn’t be happier to work with Okan.

If you are looking to add a permanent piece to your body, Bang Bang is certainly worth the price. I traveled from Boston to get a tattoo from Okan Uçkun and had a fantastic experience. I have ~30 hours of work from another tattoo artist and was nervous to branch out to a new artist, but as soon as I met Okan my nerves disappeared. Okan worked with me through email leading up to the appointment and made sure to incorporate all of the elements of design that I requested. He provides multiple designs based on the client's vision, allowing for small modifications the day of the appointment. He is a kind, humble, and patient artist and I look forward to displaying his work with pride in the years to come!

I got my first tattoo done at this shop. A lot of people were telling me about their "friend who can do great tattoos and doesn't charge much" but I'm glad I didn't listen to anyone else but my own intuition. This place felt like home while I was there. Turan was the artist I chose to work on my design and I couldn't be happier with that decision either. He is extremely skilled and such an awesome person, too. The only reason why I'm giving this place 4-stars instead of 5 is NOT because of the artists or their talent, but because of the interaction I had during check-out. I don't want to name any one, but I was at my session from 11:30am until 8:30pm on a weekday and I was not told until after I was done, that they do not accept credit card payments without a massive surcharge. When you're investing as much as I did for a tattoo, 9% surcharge is nothing to laugh at. They could've told me throughout my session or while I was waiting for my artist to go to the bank and grab some cash, but all I got was an "oh well...next time you know" after it was way past banking hours. It wasn't even because of the surcharge, but because of how sarcastic the response was from an individual who I expected a lot more from. I suggest the location over any other place, just take cash. A lot of cash. Here's a shot the day after I got my tattoo done prior to the final touches.

Die Arbeiten die sie machen sehen perfekt aus, aus diesem Grund wollte ich auch unbedingt ein Tattoo von dort. Aber solche schlechte Persönlichkeiten die nur auf das Geld schauen, verdienen kein Stern. Bist du jemand, zahlst du nichts. Bist du niemand, zahlst du das dreifache. Nicht zu empfehlen, spart euch diesen Stress.

I have no doubt the artists are all top notch but the process of getting an appointment fixed has been a nightmare. I first wrote to them on 30 Dec. On their online appointment form, you get asked if you’re based within or outside of New York, and you are also asked for your available dates and the artists you like to work with. Their first email reply comes back after a few days to inform you of the prices of the artists you have indicated and a request to indicate which artist I want and the designs or ideas I have for the artist’s consideration. I did that and waited a few more days before getting another reply to confirm the artist’s willingness and the fee quote. They also requested that I pay a deposit. However what they did not indicate is whether the artist does in fact have the availability. One would assume that when you’re asking for a deposit, it means the artist is available especially since the appointment form had already asked for your available dates. Well to be absolutely sure, I sent another email to confirm the artist’s availability before paying the deposit. After a few more days, I received a reply informing me that the artist is not available. So it turned out to be a good thing that I checked before paying the deposit. They then suggested using another artist and although I wasn’t so inclined initially, I thought about it for a few days and decided to go ahead with the new artist as suggested. Unfortunately the whole cycle repeated itself and although the new artist did have the availability, the responses were slow, to the point where I have since been to and returned from NYC. In the end, I did manage to get my tat done with a different studio nearby and the experience there has been so much more positive. I wished it could have been the same with Bang Bang.

I got a pretty sweet tattoo from Georgia Grey and I'm stoked with it. This is a NYC boutique tattoo shop, it hits all the points for being considered high end: exuberant prices, resident artists, assistants, leather backed couches in the waiting area, a book on sale from Keith, etc. etc. Bottom line: get ink here and you're getting quality, 4 stars for that. BANG BANG doesn't get 5 stars cause it's an enterprise; nothing old-school or original about it.

One of the worst appointment booking experience ever had. It took 2 months of booking time, for an appointment 4 months out. After sending my request, they emailed me back and told me the artist is available and asked my credit card info, I replied within an hour after I received the email. Two weeks after, they told me the artist I originally booked is fully booked and can't do my tattoo anymore. I have asked an other tattoo artist and they said, she does have time, but she needs to review the design. I waited for another 4 weeks, called a few times and they keep telling me they are busy just wait and follow up within a week. After two months+ of waiting I called them a few times, and now I was told they are all booked and can't take me in anymore. Seriously.....? I started my booking in January for an appointment in end of April....

Michelle is a rockstar from the consult to the actual tattoo completion! It was a surprise for hubs for Father’s Day and she was so professional, accommodating, and sweet. She knew the piece was special to us cuz it’s our twin daughters heartbeats who we lost to preterm labor. She took the time to translate the heartbeats to sound waves cuz my husband is an audiophile and didn’t hesitate to resketch the whole thing cuz hubs wanted it smaller than we originally discussed. We’re going back for a touch up in a few weeks cuz of how fine the lines are that she did that the ink isn’t holding well in some spots but the work is impeccable! I love bang bang and Michelle!

Extremely frustrated by this place. I had made an appointment with an artist there for August, and I got a message saying that the artist no longer works there a few weeks later. They offered to give me the artists info to make an appointment at their new studio, to apply the deposit to another artist there, or refund me. I asked if I got the tattoo done with the artist at their new studio will the deposit be transferred to them and they kept saying the artist would be “honoring” the deposit. I tried getting them to clarify what “honoring” meant by straight up saying “so does that mean the artist will have the deposit” but they refused to give me a solid yes or no answer. I ultimately decided to just get the refund and I was told during the second week of August that I should receive a check in the mail. Fast forward it’s been four weeks and I still haven’t received anything! I’ve called twice during this time span and was finally told today I could head down to the location and just pick it up myself bc I expressed frustrations with how long it was taking. I get there, and this gentleman tells me that the manager told him that my check was sent in the mail on Saturday and I should receive it in a few days. I’m beyond frustrated at this point, I made the trip on the crowded J train during rush hour to get this check after being TOLD that I could get it myself today. I have been jerked around for a month and told countless times that the check will be mailed out. It’s not my fault that the artist left the studio! It’s a $500 deposit, it’s not a small amount of money and the customer service at the front desk has been extremely unhelpful. I’ve been tattooed here once before and I really expected more.

For one session, Kristi was unfortunately sick and had to cancel last minute, and I really appreciated that Matt, the manager, offered me a discount to compensate for my travel to NYC. The tattoos here are worth every penny, from the phenomenal artistry to the great customer service! I highly recommend this shop!

On a hot sunny day after walking 15 miles or so I decided I wanted my first ever tattoo at the prime old age of 49... I’ve always wanted one and I’ve seen a lot of bangbang work on social websites... so I thought I’d take my chances on popping in their shop on Broome street... on entering front desk were so friendly and kind.. I asked if they could fit me in for my first ever tattoo ( I might have come over a bit anxious as I was a tad nervous) it wasn’t looking like they could fit me in as they were busy... until a young lady called Michelle Santana had a window in between appointments... Michelle was very friendly and calming and very professional.. I explained I wanted the New York skyline.. she did a few sketches.. I chose the one I wanted and that’s it I was having my first tattoo... she was fantastic.. brilliant through out my experience.. ( I almost fell asleep on the table whilst having my 1st tattoo she was that good... got back to the United Kingdom

I got a tattoo from a guest artist but this place is amazing! It was really busy when I came in and I had to wait a little while but the staff were very nice and offered me refreshments. The place is clean and has an energetic, exciting atmosphere that had me smiling the whole time. I came from Boston specifically for her, and she exceeded my expectations. I had a small tattoo done in May. It faded within 4 days. I asked for a touch up 3 weeks later and they were accommodating to this. However, now the tattoo looks worse than before. I'm pretty shocked by this actually. The artist i used had a ton of Instagram followers and all of her work on Instagram was amazing. For some reason mine came out super sloppy and faded. I followed all of the after care instructions but the tattoo still faded after a few days again. I'm very disappointed. I paid $500 + tip for something that looks like i just used a pen to draw it myself on my skin. This pic was taken 2 weeks after the touch up. The lines have spaces between them and one side of the cross has a big black ink dot. Four straight lines should be fairly simple to do for $500 especially when it was done at one of the best known tattoo shops in NYC. This place is all hype that it doesn't live up to. Now lll have to go pay to get it redone elsewhere.

I wish I could give this place 5 stars, because their art is beautiful. But they never gave me the chance...In looking for a new artist for my next tattoo, I came across someone who had full sleeves done beautifully and had spent over $10K...he swore that bang bang was the only place to go. I checked out their webpage and was blown away by the talent. Despite the fact that they are expensive and I live 2 hours away, I was willing to do it for such artistry. So I filled out their online contact form, and got a prompt automated reply that they would contact me in 7 business days. 2 weeks later...I have sent 3 emails and called at least 6 times. Despite the fact they are open ALL the time (11am-11pm), NO ONE ever picked up the phone, and you can't leave messages. I have never heard from them and have decided to give up and find someone else. I emailed a different artist from a different place in NYC and they got back to me in 24 hours. I also read some reviews about others having their appointments cancelled on them when they showed up, and being treated rudely. If I'm going to shellout big bucks, get a babysitter for the day, and drive 4 hours round trip, I'm going to go where I can get beautiful art AND be treated like I'm not just a number. Maybe they have so many clients that treating them like numbers doesn't matter to them, but to me, it's my SKIN FOREVER, and it matters quite a bit!

Should have known better... Drove 2 hours in traffic to get there for the guy at the front desk to tell me "go sit over there I have to make a phone call" and walk away. Then some guy in a suit wearing a Gucci belt literally walked passed us 5-6 times not asking once if we were being helped and when my friend went to the front desk to ask for help he literally walked away. Then finally I had enough after I was waiting 45 minutes passed my scheduled "free consultation" so I asked when I would be helped and his response was "let me go check your artist might be on break". Then the artist finally comes out and literally spoke to me for 60 seconds to tell me he needs a more zoomed in photo and the tattoo will be $4,000.. (Couldn't have told me that over the phone to save me a 4 hour round trip?) No one is doubting their work but don't expect to walk into this place and have them care about you unless you show them some green. Very sad. Don't even bother responding to this saying "sorry your experience didn't live up to what we strive for every customer blah blah blah". It's not like you actually care.

One of the worst appointment booking experience ever had. It took 4 months of booking time starting from may 2018, for an appointment in October 2018 . After sending my request, they emailed me back different times and at the end just 3 weeks ago they told me the artist didn’t accepted to work on my design. It’s a family thing so it was really important for me. Mr K dont wanna work on my design, for some reasons. But yes what I wanna review is how bad the booking could be, you reply in 2 mins, and they answer back in 1-2 weeks. I called a ton of times from Italy so I spent lot of money to phone, every time the same answer which didn’t help a bit. The first was just “ its too early to book “ Then bookings were closed and at the end after 2-3 months of conversation just that he haven’t accepted to work on my design, I don’t know if u have to be someone to get tattooed from him, but I was just thinking of talking with a tattoo studio not a celebrity stuff only.

EXPLOITED,GREEDY I shedule for 3 tattoos for 1K .I changed one of the designs there before being inked , the guy mathew asked me for 1250$ I said okay .. The artist hector (good artist) won't did the biggest tattoo because he thought it wouldn't be suitable on my chest ..I said let me think about it for 2 min he said I can't do it I'll tell mathew evrything is done (because he has the next appointment ) and then mathew asked me for 1K ..!!! I was like come on you didn't do the biggest one you should eaither charg me 850 or do it all for 1250 as we agreed. And I said okay I wanna do it any way now He said" I can't now I have to shcedual another for 500 $...

Insane talent if you you're looking for it. Extremely happy and will be posting piece pics soon. As with any top-notch shop, you'll have to plan ahead and reserve a spot. This is not a "stumbled out of a bar, need any ol' tattoo now" studio. You're investing in a badass piece for life. Art takes time and people will wait for the best talent- so should you.

If you're into tattoos for personal reasons there are fantastic artists around the city that produce fantastic work for a fairer price, without the wait.

This place is awesome. This was my first tattoo and after this one I realized two things: I should have done it sooner and it is not my last tattoo. Nice shop. Everything is very clean and everyone was very nice and helpful. Lots of people moving in and out; the shop is quite busy. It kinda feels more like a high end salon than a tattoo shop, but that's just a personal feeling/preference. If you come here you know what you're getting, and it'll be good.
