About a month ago my wife and I had Sean "ink" us with our first tattoos. We waited five months for our appointment, and all we both can say is it was WELL worth the wait! Sean runs a clean operation. He's very friendly, and we both got to know him while he did the work he does so well. Sean has a unique creative side to him that we think shows when he does his work. We both had fairly simple tattoos done, but Sean did an AMAZING job. He captured EXACTLY what we wanted. The lettering he did for me tells the story of what I wanted. I wanted Celtic with a flair that looks modern but captures my heritage. My wife had her lettering done with some shading (that Sean suggested.) It looks amazing! Ladies if you are worried about have art done that has "fine lines" look no further, Sean is your artist! The lines on my wife's tattoo are clean and VERY crisp (mine too). One of the best things about Sean is when it's your time, he focuses on you, no one else. A CLEAR advantage to his shop is it’s a custom shop ONLY. Sean's instructions for the aftercare of our tattoos was spot-on. We've had no trouble with the healing. If anyone out there is looking for a tattoo artist, See SEAN!! It takes some time to see him and get your tattoo but trust (us) me, you have to wait because he's Good! Check out Arrows and Embers; you won't be disappointed. ***Updated May 24,2019 So thrilled with my beach scene! Sean is so incredibly talented, sweet & professional. Sat for 3 1/2 hours, he has such a light hand. Can’t wait to add the finishing touches next month. I highly recommend Sean and the team at Arrows & Embers. Clean and cool space, friendly people, professional but fun atmosphere. And organic ink! Thank you!!! We have been looking forward to getting a tattoo from Sean since we saw his beautiful work at the Boston Tattoo Convention 7 years ago. He was so worth waiting for and well worth the drive from South Shore, MA. Jenn was amazing in all the steps leading up to our appointment. Sean is incredibly friendly and professional. I recently dropped in for a three hour sitting with Sean at this location and had a killer time. The store was really cool and comfortable to be in, the space where he tattoo'd me was really comfortable and semi-private. The staff are super friendly and talkative and detail oriented. As for the tattoo itself, Sean and I had a quick consultation a while back and agreed on some changes to my original idea, which was very straightforward. When I sat for the tattoo he also suggested a few changes to the composition on the fly which made perfect sense, now that it's done I'm glad we made those changes. He was really cool to talk to during the sitting too! Two weeks later and the tattoo looks killer, it's my smallest tattoo but it was also the easiest healing process I've been through. Follow Sean's advice! I personally can't wait to come back for more.

I have been to Arrows and Embers on more than one occasion and have had a truly wonderful experience each time. I was even able to recommend my mother, who ended up getting her very first tattoo at the age of 48-and she loves it! I, too, love my pieces done by Sean. I have always loved small, delicate, and detailed tattoos more than the large, sometimes gaudy-colored ones with thick lines (to each his own), so the first two times I saw Sean it was for thin, feminine text---and they each came out spectacular. As a bit of an OCD perfectionist, it made my heart sing when Sean laid the stencil nine or ten times (and proceeded to use a ruler and measuring tape) to make sure my tattoo would be centered, level, and even. I've even booked touch ups with Sean... The originals were done by other artists, and I honestly regret not waiting for an appointment at Arrows and Embers! I have learned my lesson and have vowed to be a client for life. *I have no clue what that prima donna Ben Blais is talking about in his review, but if you have any doubts, stop by the shop and make your own opinion.* Thank you for everything that you do and all your hard work, Arrows and Embers!!!

I highly recommend this place, I got my first tattoo here and was really nervous, but everyone was really nice and they made me feel very comfortable. The place was wicked clean the artists are incredibly talented and I would definitely go back for more.

Recently had a really fantastic tattoo experience here. The vibe of the shop is so relaxing and welcoming. There is a bit of a wait for any of the artists there, but they were able to get me in sooner than originally scheduled (would have been well worth the wait even if not!). My session with Amy couldn’t have been better. She’s an impressive artist and awesome person. Will definitely be back!

To risk losing money for someone is so admirable. He's the one and only artist I will go to for my works of art.

I got my first tattoo the day after my 18th birthday as a gift from my mom. My art teacher who is sleeved highly recommended him and I wouldn't have changed anything. Sean is beyond the definition of an artist, where he is not only talented on skin, but on paper, making drawings/paintings/anything made look like a photograph. He was so calming, clean and professional while giving my mom and I an extreme deal with a fairly detailed tattoo. I will always favor this place over every other tattoo shop I've been too and wish to go again! My only complaint (which is a complement in disguise) is that I wish he did walk ins and not have to go by appointments because I would only go to him! But I'll be back for him in the future!

Was unhappy with the outcome and was told it looked fine. I know I asked for just some touch ups in the color but I wasn't happy. I just figured if someone wasn't happy the person would fix it. I showed a few people my before and after pictures of my tattoo and they agreed with me some of the color wasn't right. Won't be going back there .

I got a custom designed tattoo from Sean and had an amazing experience. I’ve also heard good things about the other artists at Arrows and Embers. Design process: I brought my crazy idea and (very) rough design concept to Sean, and I was happy to see that this was a project he was excited about. He instantly understood the importance of the piece to me and was open to my suggestions and requests. He did his magic and put together a design that was everything I was hoping for. He was open to the piece being a true collaboration. Communication with Sean through the design process was very easy and effective. I had a month between the time that I saw the first draft and the first tattoo appointment. Sean encouraged me to think about any modifications I wanted, if any. He was very clear in explaining which things could work in a tattoo and which couldn’t, and the technical reasons for that -which I very much appreciated. I brought him a pretty extravagant idea, and he did a great job materializing it into a tattooable design. Tattoo appointments: My mid-size piece required two appointments a month apart from each other (~4-5 hrs each). The shop is super clean. Sean made sure to open the new disposable needles in front of me, and had everything set up ahead of time so we didn’t waste any time on that. He was accommodating with the stencil placement (we did it twice so we were all confident and comfortable with the location), and very considerate through the whole process. 8-10 hours is a long time to spend with someone, but time went by quickly during the appointments because of the great conversations to be had with Sean. Post-appointments: The piece is finished and healing great now, and I get compliments by strangers pretty much anytime I have it visible in public. I am thrilled with the work I got from Sean. I would recommend to anyone looking for a creative, open minded artist, to schedule a consultation with him.

I found Arrows & Embers after doing an exhaustive search for someone new to do my second sleeve. I live in MA so I started by looking for artists that had been to multiple tattoo conventions in New England. Sean was on my short list of artists to meet having seen his name pop up in Boston and New Hampshire (where he placed first in men's and women's categories multiple times). I met with multiple people because it's important to me that the artist not only has technical skill but is a good person. Sean's portfolio speaks for itself, but he is by far the nicest, most down to earth, artistically sound professional I have ever met. We met for a consultation and planned out something that I was really excited about. Multiple sessions later, I've ended up with a piece beyond what I hoped for. It is beautiful, detailed, vibrant, and looks like I have an oil painting draped around my arm. I definitely look forward to collaborating with Sean again. Do yourself a favor and check him out. You'll probably have to wait a while before your first actual inking because his reputation has grown and the referrals keep coming in, but he's worth the wait. Would you rather have your permanent, life long piece done by someone with tons of availability, or a line of fans waiting out the door?
