Wow now went there on a Sunday looking for a price told them when I was coming back and I went back, they took the price up that dont even make any sense same person because he told me that he remembers me but still wanted more money he should keep the same price I'm not gonna go back there..smh. /// update yes I told the same guy how much he told me the price was but he still wanted more money $20 he didn't care at all he just wanted more money bottom line it wasn't a cummunacation problem he just said its more no matter what I had to say ..or how you respond I sent you a response on the matter and you didn't respond back smh ..I see the reviews maybe because I came in there with Versace shoes and upscale clothes on maybe he wanted more money from me because of that I notice how people do business according to how people look or dress. Smh

A good studio, manages to straddle that difficult line of preserving an internal culture and identity without being off-putting to the general public. Smooth front desk operations and excellent communication. Very fair pricing, though your mileage may differ by artist. Would recommend for first timers or more experienced.

I am super bummed out about this place. I had some time to kill in DC and had been thinking about getting another tattoo for a long time. This place was recommended by the locals and has good ratings so I gave them a call. When I called and asked if they could get me in around two hours later they said come down we take walk-ins. I thought that was cool and grabbed an Uber. When I got there the place had a good vibe and I was ready for some ink. The gal at the counter was nice but didnt care that I had called. I waited as I have waited at parlors like this before. Over an hour later they were ready for me and were basically going to repetitively stamp me with a design I had shown them as an example. I said no hold up I'm looking for you guys to take some creative license that's just an example. They told me it would be $500 bucks for the tattoo and I was blown away. It took an hour for them to ask me what I wanted and then they came back with an outrageous price for a simple tat that would be around 4x8 inches and one color. There was no negotiation so I politely said not thanks and walked out which is fine but I would have preferred to have walked out over an hour earlier. Anyways no ink for me today and much time wasted.

"Only one person (friend) allowed back" it took them 45 minutes to get prepared for the tattoo even though we already had a consultation. "No videos, no pictures" they were sort of nice, and this place is way over priced, they will charge you almost double the price of any other tattoo place around here.

Don't ever go there! The owner is completely absolutely rude and entitled. I was taking a gentleman (Jerry) who's a Senior Citizen and a Marine to an appointment and he walks with a cane. Matthew Knopp the owner of the shop wanted to fight over a parking spot and literally reversed his Audi into my leg as I stood waiting to help my friend. He dared me to call the police and didn't care as he blocked busses and other cars from passing. It was more important for him to be able to park in front of his store than be even remotely considerate!

Reviewing based on my experiences (two) for piercings! About two years ago I got my septum pierced by a really lovely lady, unfortunately whose name I don't remember. Then the service was fantastic, everyone was nice, and my piercer made me feel very comfortable! She explained everything that was going to happen before and was really encouraging. She was so great I didn't feel a thing! My second time visiting I got a vertical labret piercing done by Brian. He was honest from the get go about his professional opinion regarding healing, chance of rejection (Apparently these piercings do have a higher possibility of rejection which is understandable), and overall information regarding the piercing itself; which I really really respect. Once I decided to just go for it, he was AMAZING. Completely explained everything that would happen, took his time making up my lip, making sure the line was straight, that I was happy with it, etc. Of course since it's a lip piercing through the soft tissue it did hurt a little, but definitely not a negative experience in any way! After the piercing was done we waited a bit to see how much it would swell, and even changed the bar to a shorter one. Price is VERY fair for piercings, everywhere else is either more expensive or completely not even worth going to! If you're looking for a great experience and a great piercing totally go and ask for Brian!

I walked into the shop with a image of my doxie who passed away a year ago. Everyone in the shop were extremly pleasant and helpful. Scott Sketo patiently worked with me to create the image that I had in my mind. The final tattoo was absolutley amazing. Scott managed to capture my Bailey perfectly.The detail is amazing he captured her perfectly. Scott even managed to get the festhering of her fur. He is a very gifted artist and I could not be happier with the finished image. Now I will akways have Bailey with me. The shop was very clean and I was giving care instructions. I had a great experience at Paradise tattoo in Washington DC. I just turned 70 and being an long time dead head I thought it was time for a tattoo. I picked the simple “steal your face” line drawing with Built To Last underneath of it. Billy was the artist he did an excellent job it was quick and the image he drew was very high-quality. I thought everybody at paradise was welcoming and friendly. A great place for a first tattoo

I originally went in for a tongue web piercing. After Rachel took a look at it she informed that she wasn’t comfortable with piercing it and explained why. I appreciated her honesty, I would rather have heard the truth then paying for a piercing that wouldn’t work out for me. She checked again just to really be sure and ended up with the same feeling. She told me I had the perfect lip for “smiley piercing” so that is what I ended up getting. Rachel was super friendly from the start and explained everything to me from the piercing process to the jewelry sizes. She was joking around the whole time and just really puts you at ease. If I could give her 10 stars I would. I have NEVER had as amazing of a piercing experience as I did with her. I 120% recommend Rachel for any of your piercing needs. She really knows her stuff! (I also must mention that all the staff was very friendly and pleasant to be around)

Was searching all day for a tattoo shop, but everyone was "supposedly" super booked or closed up shop way earlier than what time they told me over the phone. So, I continued looking and it was pretty late as far as tattoo shops closing at 8 or 9, but I stumbled across tattoo paradise which said they closed at 10 so I was super happy cause My friend and I really wanted to get tatted. So, we get there and the vibe was already super friendly, we knew exactly what we wanted which I assume was also very helpful for the artist instead of us coming in not knowing and just being difficult. We got simple small tattoos and We were literally in and out of the shop within say 30-45 minutes. I would definitely recommend Billy. He was a super cool and chill artist! And my tattoos didn't hurt when he did them! Thank you, and I will definitely be a returning customer!

Had got Tatted years ago here twice by Carly, Scripted lettering at first , he did a great job. Second was a Joker. Gordie recently tatted me a Cupid for me daughter , was very happy and tattoo healed nicely. Am happy and will go back. Secondly I found out that the shop owner had once worked @ Pirate Tattoo In MIA which I have also frequented for more than one tattoo. I believe that Gordie and the Shop owner have learned the right way, and I would recommend anyone in the DC area to go here.... I mean where else would you go in this area?? Except for Baltimore and further out DC this is IT.

I've gotten 12 tattoos and 2 piercings at Tattoo Paradise (so far!), and never cease to be impressed by the quality of the work they do. Every artist is exceptionally talented, experienced, and knowledgeable. The environment is very clean and professional, and the pricing is more than fair. I've gotten tattoos and piercings at other shops in town, and they all pale in comparison when it comes to quality. Staff are friendly and more than happy to help you reach your aesthetic goals while taking practicality and price range into account. I've never had any issues with healing/scarring from any of the work I've gotten done. I have always felt very comfortable and safe with every artist I've worked with. If you want the best possible quality work done, it would be borderline irresponsible to go anywhere but here.

EDIT: Thank you to the owner who replied back, i will come back to see Matt in a few weeks. Over charged $135 for a small, one sq inch tattoo and did it wrong. For some reason the artist Jeff had the welcome staff Nate redraw the small design I brought in, instead of redrawing it himself. During the inking stage, Jeff the artist messed up on the outer line and then tried to talk over his covering up of the mistake while making the circle of the yinyang sign lopsided. Jeff also shrunk and over did the inside of the yinyang sign. Wouldn't ever recommend Jeff, and be sure Nate doesn't draw your stencil. Extremely disappointed.

I got a double helix piercing from Brian and was really happy with it. He took his time and it looked great. I left to go abroad after a few weeks and it still wasn't healing and got very infected and swollen. I went to a different piercer abroad who told me that the bar/ post he put in after he pierced my ear was the one that they usually use for healed piercings and wasn't long enough. Because of that mistake, my ear started to heal over the backing. I LITERALY HAD TO HAVE IT CUT OUT OF MY EAR. Lots of pain and money later, I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Tattoo Paradise has been where I go for jewelry since I started stretching, and they are consistent in giving good service. Can't wait to go back for a tattoo next time!

I got a tattoo from here 3 weeks ago. Had an awkward run around where I called and was told to email them but they didn't respond and I had to call them back about a week later just to be told that the email was deleted (they did apologize!). It made things more rushed but they actually gave me a solution that wasn't "oop so sorry, we can't do your tattoo anymore" nor "oop we'll call you back in a bit to let you know what we can do *never calls me back*" so I really really appreciate that. They are a bit pricey but honestly that's to be expected of a shop in the middle of a tourist metropolis. I was charged $500 for an 8x5 full color custom tattoo, but don't take this as gospel as pricing can be vastly different depending on different elements of your tattoo. Plus, the artist who did my tattoo, Billy Bennett, killed it and the tattoo is healing beautifully so, you're paying for guaranteed quality, experience, and skill. This was my first tattoo and they didn't patronize me or make me feel unwelcome so that's also nice. They were all super friendly as well. Billy wasn't much of a talker but neither am I and I think he picked up on that so I appreciate that. Only other gripe I have is I wish we would've took our time and sat down and talked more about the tattoo the day before because we kind of had to rush through size and placement on the day of getting the tattoo. That part was more uncomfortable than getting the tattoo, itself lol. That wasn't totally their fault, btw, but I also wasn't sure how that was supposed to work out (again, it's my first tattoo). So, come prepared with as many questions as possible, that's my advice.

My friend and I both went in for a walk in today. She had gotten a nose piercing and I had gotten a tattoo. Dickinson (man at the front desk with the bun, I could have gotten his name incorrect, but regardless) he was incredibly kind and helpful. I got my tattoo from Trevor. I've gotten several tattoos from many artists and this was one of the best experiences I've had. He was kind, helpful, and vey receptive of my needs. A guess piercer, Jeremiah, pierced my friend's nose and had a fantastic experience as well. We would both 100% come here again.

Just got a half sleeve done on my forearm and I couldn't be happier! Sir Eric Wilcox was my artist and he did an exceptional job. Very passionate about his work, and extremely neurotic when it comes to lettering and words, so you don't have to worry about him making a mistake. The shop is very clean (brand new needles and ink used for every patron), and the staff is friendly and professional. They care about making sure you leave happy, and will make sure you're absolutely sure about what you want before they begin. I Highly recommend!

My sister and I go in for our birthdays to get tattoos together; my first, her third. First impression was great. The place was clean and the guy at the front desk was really nice. We went there because they accepted walk-ins, which is hard to find. They said they could get to our tattoos in 45 minutes. We waited 3 hours before we were able to go back to get our tattoo. I was also quoted a higher price than I expected, given the design I picked out. I was also uncomfortable with paying ahead of time, in case they did a terrible job. When we finally got back there, it helped that the tatoo artist was so nice. He was very careful with me, it being my first tattoo. He kept conversation going and kept checking on me to make sure I was okay. When I saw my tattoo for a short period of time before he covered it, I was thrilled. However, when I got home and started looking at it more closely, I was a little disappointed. The cross was not symmetrical. I understand it won't look perfect because this is hand drawn art, but the image he was tracing was symetrical. I expected it to be a bit better drawn than it was. When I show people, some even comment on how the different sides don't match and how it looks off...that's no fun. I don't think there's a great way to fix it either. On the flip side, my sister's tatoo looks great! One other thing that bothered me is they didn't offer any information on how to take care of it. I felt like I had to ask all the questions, and I wasn't sure I was getting all the info I needed. That felt very unprofessional. I don't think I'll go there again.

The tattoo itself is nice but I was charged $20 more than minimum tattoo price for a heart outline smaller than a dime. Never going back again.

Stopped in to get a DC souvenir tattoo Friday evening. The staff seemed friendly and helpful. When It came time to get my tattoo the so called artist didnt seem like he was having a good night. I asked what he thought about the location of the tattoo and basically couldnt care less and said its on you you decide. Thanks. At that point with his attitude I was going to say forget it but then figured it was no big deal. Mistake. He rushed the job, the lines are crooked and I will be going in to a local tattoo place when I get home and it heals to have it straightened out. I have several tattoos this was not my first so I can speak from experience. I would never go back there.

I only went in the store to purchase a spare nose stud and they were really rude about it. They seemed really inconvenienced by the whole transaction even though no customers were there. I would b super anxious to let any of them tattoo me. Also a small steel nose stud was 25$. I follow a lot of their artists on IG (along with other tattooers in the area) and they are not really good for what they charge. I would go to Bethesda Tattoo, they are much more pleasant and some of their artists are insanely talents. But honestly as close as we are to Baltimore and New York, I would make a day trip to a better artist and a better shop

Got a tattoo here last week by the store owner, Matthew, I believe. I've had nothing but problems with my tattoo and so has my friend that went with me. It's been a week and it still hurts to touch because of how hard he was going with the needle. He used the wrong colors from what we wanted because he wouldn't look at the picture again when I asked him to. Mine is on my thigh so I couldn't really see to watch what colors he was using. My arms were twitching because he was digging into my skin so hard. I'm just taking care of it the best I can and hoping it doesn't blur out. It's still scabbed as if I got it yesterday.

I honestly just went there this morning as a walk in and had a great experience. It was a rather spur-of-the-moment tattoo, but I’ve known that I wanted to get something similar for a while. I went with one of my friends and the lady at the front desk was nice and polite to both of us. Only a couple minutes of wait before we were brought to the back. My tattoo was done by Tom Kenney and he was really nice. He listened to my questions, understood my input, and encouraged me through the pain. He was also listening to me the whole time I was rambling on! I’m in chemistry so I got trinitrotoluene tattooed on my sternum and I would periodically look down and say “a nitrous group is done!” or “half of the benzene ring is through!” and he was joking back with me about how I’m the first person he’s ever done a molecule tattoo on who knew what they were talking about! Yes, it was a little pricey, but putting together the size of the art, the time it took to do it, where it would be and how Tom would have to deal with a customer in pain and cracking bad jokes because she’s in pain, I felt like the price was fair. The only other slightly negative thing I could say is that the lines are slightly crooked (not really noticeable unless you’re looking closely), but again it was rather painful and I twitched a lot. But I also know that this can be easily fixed with the free (within six months) touch up! That was a long post, but my whole experience was really great and the people who worked there were really nice. Thank you!

I've come here several times for piercings (Erika) and tattoos (Nikki "Balls" Lugo and D. Wayne.) All three artists have been extremely professional, kind, and friendly, and the people working the front desk have always been very helpful and cheerful as well. My experiences here have been very pleasant. In the past at other shops, I find that they often have bad vibes and a negative attitude so this was a great experience! The prices are definitely on the high side which I think is because of (a) the popular location in a high demand urban area and (b) high quality and professionalism. This place gets a 5/5 stars from me :)

The Summary: I just came out of a minor, painful surgery to remove the extremely negligent piercing done here. I've had many piercings and can say with confidence that this one was done absolutely wrong. Please don't patronize this establishment. The Long Version: I went to Tattoo Paradise with friends to get my third cartilage piercing. The front desk staff were curt and not incredibly comforting; it is the kind of body art place that chooses to intimidate rather than welcome. So I am no stranger to piercings, my other piercings have cost ~$50 with nonstandard jewelry, but I was told $80 here. Expensive. Above the unsmiling staff was written, "The bitterness of poor quality outlasts the sweetness of low price." Screw it, I think. I'm paying a premium for cold, hard people who know what they're doing. The woman piercing me makes no attempt to carry the small talk I start (unusual and unprofessional, most piercers know that small talk helps the customer relax before pain). After the piercing, she explicitly tells me NOT to spin the jewelry because it doesn't need it, and a saline soak without touching it will be just fine. The post is also very small and my skin is squeezing against it (she should definitely have been able to see this--I assumed she had and that this was normal, so said nothing). This is at odds with my previous piercings, where I have been advised to spin the piercing and clean it with a q-tip after saline soaks, and where the piercer has explicitly told me that the post is left longer to give the skin room to swell. But I follow her instructions--I soak morning and night, gently wipe it off, and leave it be. After all, she's the piercer, right? I tell myself she probably knows better. Nope. Fast forward to today, it is two weeks since I got my piercing. I wake up and my ear is feeling a strange kind of pain. I wash my hands and touch the back of my piercing--only there IS NO BACK OF MY PIERCING. In the healing process, my skin had nowhere to go from the tiny post and swallowed up the back. I go to my doctor with this emergency: it takes three doctors and a minor surgery to remove this post from my ear, which had healed over it and was screwed on so tightly that they almost had to cut through my ear to get it off. When they finally remove it and I see the earring back.... Y'all it was so small the back she used was smaller than the gem itself. The gem itself was 2mm. Of COURSE that back was going to get swallowed up. I honestly am kicking myself for not keeping the jewelry to show you, and for taking it to them to show them. All in all, I paid $80 + doctor's fees to have a surgery that ended in no piercing. ****Most importantly: in checking reviews, I found that I am NOT the first person who went to Tattoo Paradise to have this happen. Not only that, but the way the owners of this place respond to reviewers is incredibly unacceptable--it is absolutely understandable to refrain from admitting liability, but to mock your reviewers, double down, and blame them? That's not civilized behavior. I am genuinely frightened that they will bully me after I leave this review, but that's how bullies thrive and I have to post this as I am genuinely concerned for other customers' wellbeings. It is part of the reason it is so long and detailed.

Do NOT go here. I am very heavily tattooed, and was visiting from Atlanta. I came here for a small to medium tattoo on my calf. First of all they were kind of rude at the front desk. But when I got this tattoo, it was WAY more painful then it should have been. But I was ok, whatever. But ok, that night I was in excruciating pain. Not normal. Two days later this tattoo was INCREDIBLY infected. Red everywhere, oozing fluids, very very painful. I went to the urgent care and was running a fever and had to get a shot and put in antibiotics. It’s been a week and I am back at another urgent care because it is still infected. I am in so much pain and the tattoo looks awful. I know how to take care of my tattoos. I have about $5,000 worth of ink on my body and have only had one very mild infection years ago. Clearly this is a dirty shop. I literally regret going here so much. Not worth it at all to say the least.

I got my belly button pierced here July 2016. I was heavily intoxicated, and they pierced me anyways. I'm not blaming them for my mistake, but it was obvious that I was drunk. The lady who did my piercing was super unpleasant (probably because I was wasted). I would be happy with the piercing if she hadn't done MY PIERCING COMPLETELY LOPSIDED. IT OBVIOUSLY TILTS TO THE LEFT. Don't give these guys your business. They ruined my belly button forever.

Got my first tattoo by Deirdre and I absolutely love it. Gary, at the front desk, was super chill and funny as well as very open to feedback on my stencil. I was extremely nervous about getting the tattoo which Deirdre handled in stride. She talked me through the whole thing and was so sweet. People who think the place is “overpriced” obviously dont understand how talented all the artists are. As the sign in the shop says “Good tattoos arent cheap, cheap tattoos arent good.” I love my tattoo and will definitely be coming back for more.

I went in here to look for a new shop for art. After discussing my idea the kind lady paired me up with Jeff P. Jeff and I started to discuss ideas as I showed him the original image. I told him I wanted to to look similar, but different. He made it completely different and I dug it at first and went for it. Once I saw it on my leg it looked almost different then the sketch. It looked amazing!!! Jeff really took time to do amazing detail. I really can't wait to go back and get another! The shop was clean, inviting and everyone was friendly and professional. Guy behind the desk is extremely rude and condescending. Tattoo quality is poor - do not comply with customer requests (Specifically requests for vegan inks). Tattoo is patchy and poor line work and rushed. Additionally, they allow completely drunk individuals to be tattooed which is not only highly unsafe and unprofessional but shows the low standard of practice at salon. Do not recommend this salon under any circumstances.

Everyone is super friendly, it's a comfortable atmosphere, the prices are on par with what I had anticipated, and the artists are very skilled. I got a custom piece done on my left shoulder blade and rib cage. It is my first tattoo so I didn't really know what to expect, but Deirdre talked me through it all, and my tattoo is everything I wanted and more! She is very detail oriented and focused on creating high quality art. Her linework is amazing; I got a ton of compliments just on the outline! I can't recommend Deirdre highly enough. She's absolutely awesome. I won't be going to anyone but her. :)

After searching out numerous tattoo parlors, we found Tattoo Paradise staff to be the most friendly that we've encountered. Some parlors have an atmosphere that can be a bit off, but not here. The moment we walked in we were greeting like friends that hadn't seen us in awhile. They were very involved with giving us advice on what art we wanted and who the best person would be for the job. The experience was so dope, I'm planning to make this my "Go To" parlor for me and anyone who asks "Hey, where's a good place to get a tattoo?"

They are not necessarily the friendliest bunch of people, they don't like to listen much, but Brian did my daith and he's good at his job. He said he's been piercing for 18 years and the daith is a complicated piercing, but so far, I have no problems with it. I have 15 piercings though so I know how to take care of them. Anyway, all in all, good place for piercings, about average priced, or maybe a little more pricey, but you're in good hands. Don't go here if you're trying to make friends either.

Went in a few months ago to get a vertical labret piercing. Erika pierced me. After some time I noticed the piercing wasn’t completely straight. I took it out and called them up, and Erika redid it for free! She made it as quick and painless as possible, was very apologetic (even though she didn’t need to be, mistakes happen!) and sent me on my way. Very good experience. Aside from that, tattoo paradise has been responsible for quite a few friends of mine’s tattoos and piercings. All the work I see come out of there is excellent and if there’s an issue for any reason they’re very prompt about fixing it. Highly recommend!

From start to finish, the experience at Tattoo Paradise was incredible. The artist portfolios on their website and on Instagram are updated almost every day, allowing you to narrow it down to an artist who best fits what you want. After figuring out what I wanted, I walked in to ask some questions and the desk staff was very welcoming and gladly answered all of my questions. They introduced me to Nikki, one of the artists who was very enthusiastic to hear my ideas, set an appointment and promised to sketch something up. When I came back for my appointment, Nikki was ready to go with a perfect design, and made me feel comfortable by cracking jokes and telling hilarious stories while doing the piece. Speaking of the piece, it exceeded my expectations, turning out perfect. There's a reason Nikki has almost all five star reviews! I would recommend this place to anyone looking to get inked, and will definitely be going back for my future tattoos. Edit: ten months after this review, I've been back twice and gotten a tattoo from Thomas Kenney and Dave Cavalcante. Both have been topnotch work and like Nikki, artists who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. The front desk staff is also always incredibly friendly and willing to answer any question you have, no matter how silly you think it may seem.

I did a tattoo about a year ago, my friends looked for a place, and they saw good recommendations about tattoo paradise. I did some words on my shoulder, it was suppose to be an easy tattoo, at least they told me that it would be. I did my tattoo with Carly, but the words were very blurry, it was terrible, I returned there few days later, and they tried to fix it with white ink, but was still very bad!!! I don't know if now he is better or not, I just wanna share my experience, it wasn't good at all! And its something for the rest of my life. Now Im gonna try to fix it, but I dont know how it will be, because I really don't want something big on my shoulder.

Went here to get a matching set of small initials on my wife and me. The guys behind the counter were very friendly and accommodating. The tattoos came out great. Just missed 5 stars because the 4 letters total cost us a whopping $250! That seemed excessive to me for small letters. If you're unconcerned with cost, this is the place to go in DC.

I went there back in May 2018 to get my first tattoo. Nick is the one who did it and almost a year later, it still looks amazing. I decided to get a piercing and Rachel was so wonderful. She has a lot of energy and makes you feel so comfortable. They offer great tips for aftercare and even followups. I'm most definitely planning on going back in the spring. The prices did not surprise me because this is not the kind of thing you would want to do for cheap. You don't just pay for a tattoo or a piercing but also for the service. Every time I've gone there the staff was so kind and helpful. I 100% recommend this place.
