Someone got a double helix today! I kind of always wanted a tattoo in my earlier days b/c I thought it was badass to have one, but I didn't want to get one "just to get one." I'm super pumped bc this stamp is now on my wrist and it has so much symbolization to my entire life, what I've survived through, and what I'll never give up on. My tattoo, which is placed, very artistically by Jacki Randall, - darkened it at the strand I asked, navy blue, at the short (p) arm of chromosomes 8, at position 22 - Which is EXACTLY the place of LPLD, my genetic disorder. The experience I had at Charm City tattoo with Jacki is something I would personally say was borderline of a spiritual variety. As an artist, she is absolutely an artisian of the trade and is very well learned. Her eye for creativity and ingenuity is undeniable and her originality certainly shows in her work. I was able to come in with ideas and a concept and no base art work and she was able to very intuitively create something that was beyond pleasing to me. The connection I was able to experience with her during my visits is what really defined the experience beyond that of simply a satisfactory tattoo appointment. She is a wonderful person and someone I am happy to have met. I will certainly be returning to her for future pieces and will look forward to each visit. I would positively recommend her if you want to get something that is unique and beautiful and you will love for as long as you have a body to get inked.

Just got my second tattoo yesterday from Jacki. She is very professional, down to earth, real, and not to mention extremely talented. She enjoys tattooing unique artwork and her profile reflects her high skill level. Jacki also goes above and beyond to ensure you are getting what you want and even gives you fantastic suggestions. Example, my second tattoo is half complete; the other half is going to be scenery. When I arrived at her shop yesterday to get the main piece, I was very surprised that she went out of her way to sketch me my main piece with the scenery when I was only going there for the main piece! Got the itch on a Saturday morning and looked up some reviews, they didn't steer me wrong, and I won't steer you wrong either. Jacki is a beautiful human who has an incredible gift with near all things interesting, making her one of the most interesting, genuine, and sweetest people I've ever met. I contacted Jacki about a week before going in for my tattoo. She was very responsive, replying to my emails and returning my calls very promptly. I had been planning and designing my new tattoos for over a year and spent a few months looking for the artist I wanted in Baltimore. I spoke with several who didn't seem to care much about my appointment or my ideas. No one replied quickly , if at all, and no one seemed to want to have a conversation about my design--which was very specific and very detailed. Jacki was not only interested in my appointment, but very interested in my ideas and design. We had a great long phone call to talk about the initial ideas and make the appointment. I went in for my appointment with my own drawing and tons of photos of ancient works of art (i'm an art historian) that inspired my design. We took our time going over all the ideas and inspirations and started drafting right on my body to make sure I was happy with the size and proportions. There was no rush at all, Jackie was very professional and focused on me and my time with her. As an art historian who dabbles in art myself, I had a great time working with another real, true artist on this. Jacki has an incredible eye for aesthetics and was able to give me exactly what I wanted. She improved on my design without changing it--making sure the design was still mine. She helped me compromise on things I wanted that wouldn't work and gave me great advice that I don't think other artists are as honest about. The hygiene and safety aspects were the best I have ever witnessed and beyond reproach. I've never spoken to another artist who took cleanliness and care so seriously--the way it should be. This is the only place to come in Baltimore if you want true artwork. Thank you, Jacki!

Both my wife and I got our first tattoos at Charmcity, and we were both really happy with the professionalism and expertise of Jacki. From beginning to end, the experience was excellent. Jacki talked in very clear terms about her expectations, listened carefully to what we were looking for, and simply made us feel comfortable that we were dealing with an artist who really cares about her work. I talked to Jacki about getting a lion rampant on my calf (the heraldic symbol for Scotland), and I brought examples of tattoos that were close to what I was looking for. Jacki then created a design that turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. She took the time to get to know me and tailored her artwork to my ideas. I never felt as though there was a disconnect between what I had in mind and what Jacki envisioned. My wife had a cherry blossom bough on her shoulder, and again the process was exactly the same. In fact the artwork on my wife's tattoo is the best I've ever seen. The colors are perfect and the design great. One other thing that I also appreciated about the experience is that Jacki is meticulous with hygiene. She has very strict rules about her work area, and it's clear she cares that everyone leaves her studio healthy and happy. I've already been back for my second tattoo and will return for a third without hesitation (once I've figured what that next one will be!).

The absolute best shop I have ever had the pleasure of getting my ink done at. Jacki is what every artist in the area should strive to be. Not only is her work amazing, once you go in her shop for your work she locks the door and YOU are the only thing she cares about. It was my mother's first tattoo, yes at 60 she decided she wanted to become apart of the tattooed club. It was important to me that my mom's first experience wasn't like mine, which felt cold and rushed. My mom's request ( a ❤️) was simple and probably mundane for most tattoo artists but Jacki made it seem special (but of course it was). Jacki made it her business to make my mother at ease. Jacki is a rare professional. She specializes in taking your artistic vision and elevating it to a level beyond your imagination, but still within your own personal boundaries. She takes her time with your art and is great at passing it with her wonderful personality and hilarious conversation. I would never dream of going to anyone else buy her, as both my first and second tattoo (acquired on 2/15/13) are works of art that I am extremely proud of. I will warn you that if you want something generic, Jacki...well she is your girl as she would be able to do it, but I wouldn't waste her time with something boring and rudimentary. My wife and I got tattoos from Jacki in April. Mine is the Don't Tread on Me shown on the page and my wife got Let it Be on her wrist. She was terrific to work with and is extremely knowledgeable in her profession. Don't plan on being "in and out" as Jacki loves talking with her clients in order to get to know them and also shares lots of cool stories. She made us feel very comfortable and at home in her shop. Our ink healed nicely with no scabbing or itching. I would go back to her in a heartbeat. We are both very happy with her work!

I had the most fun time with Jacki!! Great conversations and an overall great experience getting my first tattoo. I came in with a vague idea of what I wanted (a tiger) and she drew up the design in front of me with incredible artistry, all the while asking for my input. I loved the finished product and so we went ahead and did it. Jacki was very thorough explaining everything that I needed to know, including the tattooing process itself and aftercare for the following weeks. Even though this was my first tattoo and so I can’t compare it to other places, I felt like Jacki did the tattoo very gently and thoroughly, yet quickly and efficiently. The skin around the tattoo was only red for a few hours afterwards, and healed quickly. The price was also very reasonable considering the size and quality of the tattoo. I am already planning my next tattoo with Jacki, and would recommend her to anyone looking to get an amazing tattoo!!!

The process from start to finish was fun and easy. I wanted to have a 15 year old tattoo on my back touched up as well as get a new tattoo on my inner forearm. I spoke with Jacki on the phone and worked with her over email. She is very responsive and made everything easy. I sent her a rough sketch of what I wanted and she took things from there. While in her shop, you are her sole focus. Phone calls go unanswered and you receive her undivided attention. Both tattoos turned out great and we had a non-stop and lively conversation. The time flew by. Her shop is clean and her work is great. She recreated my sketch free hand and it turned out exactly how I wanted. Her shop is plastered with her past works, most of which can be seen on her website. She's very friendly and has a ton of great stories spanning what has clearly been an interesting and eventful life. I can't recommend Jacki highly enough.

Jackie Randall is that one person here in the entire Baltimore. She beautiful inked this Phoenix on my back with so much precision, but it did not even hurt that much! She explained every details of what she was doing at every step , starting from unpacking the brand new sterile needle, the sterility methods she uses to keep the tools sterile, to starting to ink my back. She is an amazing person and has a lifetime of experience in tattooing and with people. I loved how she kept me engaged telling me stories and talking to my friend who was accompanying me . Jacki has worked on every single one of my tattoos. Some she drew herself - we'll get back to those. The others I either got before I knew her or made the mistake of thinking I could go to anyone else and get an equally beautiful result. Lucky for me she was able to touch up and improve those tattoos to get them looking the way I had originally intended. As for the ones she drew herself, they could not be more perfect. The first time I met her, I had a semi-abstract idea of what I wanted and where. Within five minutes of our introduction she sat down with a piece of paper and started drawing, and kept going until I saw what I wanted - no frustration or impatience at all from her, even though it took a long time (which was a problem at some of the other shops in Baltimore I tried to go to with the same tattoo idea). Making an appointment is always easy and efficient. The day of, she thoroughly explains her process and her sterilization techniques. And there is always fantastic conversation. I have seen Jacki now for the last five years or so, and I will continue to see her for future work - which is saying a lot as I no longer live on the east coast. Jacki is an incredible person and an exceptional artist, and I always look forward to my next visit!

I'm pretty damn happy with my little tat from Jacki. I went in with a basic idea of what I wanted and together, Jacki and I refined it to be the image I wanted tattooed on my body. She was helpful in bouncing around ideas and was patient with my requests that wouldn't work (she explained why and we came up with other ideas that would work). I warned her that when we got to the actual tattooing I was likely to turn green on her, which I did, but she helped me power through it, all the while telling us some pretty damn funny stories (she is well traveled and has a lot of them!) and put in some good tunes (The Dead Can Dance, King Crimson, Bowie, etc). Evidence of her talent cover the shop walls and she has impeccable standards for keeping the shop and the equipment CLEAN and STERILE!! When you sit in her chair you get her full and undivided attention. She takes her craft seriously, which is refreshing in the glut of wanna be tattoo artists out there who I wouldn't trust with my art of my physical health. By the time I left I was a little sad because I felt I was leaving a new friend. Baltimore is not by a long shot, my favorite city or even a city that impressed me all that much but I would very much consider seeing Jacki for another project at some point.

I was planning to get a tattoo for a long time and the time finally came. What I had in mind had a particular meaning - not something that every frat boy you've ever met has. I started hunting around for a place with a good reputation. I wound up going to a place in a hipster neighborhood with a cool sign out and a lot of flash on the walls. I talked to the artist whose work seemed most like what I had in mind. I talked to him for about 5 minutes, he said he'd get back in touch, and a week or two later I gave up and started looking for somebody else. He did me a favor. I wound up finding Jacki. Her shop has no signs out, no generic tribal this's and tiger that's on posters on the walls. The stuff that is on her walls is obviously her work, and personal. She will sit down with you with a pencil and a pad. She will balance what you want with what works. What you get, nobody else will have. It will be good, and it will be done by somebody who obviously cares a whole lot about the quality of her work. You'll even learn some stuff. And she has good taste in music. Turns out what I had in mind wouldn't have worked. What I got was cleaner, simpler, and more like what I wanted than what I wanted. My second is just healing in. Jacki's just different. She put my first tattoo on and I expect she'll put on my last. (That guy I talked to at the other shop? Finally got back to me weeks later. What he did was jam two ideas I had together with no editing or thought. And added some color. It looked like crap.)
