They do good work but went on a Saturday in there walk ins and I wanted a medium sized tattoo when they had only two people on the list so they denied me so I went to a place called sink or swim in downtown kcmo he drawed mine up and kept his shop open an hour and half longer just to finish my tattoo with amazing detail I would suggest going there instead.

Although they were very friendly after my consultation they said it would be 2-3 weeks until they could draw it up. Its been 2 months now and not one email or phone call, i even called after a month and the receptionist didnt seem to know what i was talking about and said id have to wait until the artist was in instead of just walking over to his desk and looking.

I got my naval pierced by a heavily pierced and really nice lady near September 2014 I really enjoyed it, since she was really nice and made me less nervous.. I also paid in all ones and she didn't get angry haha... My husband came in to get tattooed recently and the new guy did it.. It could be better but it wasn't a trainwreck so it's ok.. I don't know if it's how it's always done here but when he was done, his tattoo was heavily covered in gauze and SCOTCH TAPE?? Also electrical tape? Something like that.. I talked to a few tattooed people and apparently that is a huge "NO!" I've seen good reviews for other tattoo artists so I think I'll just request for a 'seasoned' artist to do my first tattoo of I can 5 stars on piercer 2 stars on new tattoo artist (sorry)

Jo and Kat were nothing less than amazing. Not to mention how clean and tidy the place was! Out the gate Kat greeted me with a warm welcoming smile, a handful of chit chat giggles, and professionalism as I filled out my 'eeeeeeeeek' new piercing form. Jo- was tooooo freakin' cool. We talked about past piercings before setting my newest, she was knowledgeable and forthcoming with any questions I pestered her with, and she created a calm and relaxing environment. By far the best expirence I've ever encountered while craving a new hole. They are all about YOU- piercings that will last a lifetime- and that will compliment other already mapped out piercings. I will NEVER seek piercings anywhere else. Truly- my friends, these are the ladies you want to see ten fold.

I got my small wrist tattoo here a little over a year ago. I love my tattoo which is the only reason I'm giving this place two stars. My appointment was at 3pm, I naturally arrived twenty minutes ahead of schedule and checked in with the receptionist. When I arrived, Die Hard 2 was just starting, next thing I know the entire movie (with commercials) was over. The receptionist got up and apologized to a woman right in front of me for her wait, looked at me and walked right back to the desk. Now, this was my first tattoo, I was excited and I'd been counting on getting it, so I kept waiting. Next movie up, True Lies. I get halfway through that movie before the receptionist tells me it'll "only be a few minutes longer". No apology and hell she wouldn't even look me in the eye when she spoke to me. What I believe happened was she scheduled me wrong and instead of owning up to it, she just kept me waiting. When people were leaving after getting their large tattoos they actually would stop and ask me why I was still there. Finally, after FOUR HOURS, yes, you read that correctly. I got in and received my TEN MINUTE tattoo. I'm not sure if the artist just didn't know how long I had been waiting or not, but once again no apology. Although, I do believe most the fault lies with the receptionist. I'm not exactly one of the aggressively loud types of people. I sat in silence and watched the movies. So for her to treat me as though I was an inconvenience was pretty annoying and completely unnecessary. While the fault may have been hers, maybe she just made a mistake in scheduling, I don't know. But businesses have to take responsibility for those they hire. I will never return. I've begun going to Skin Illustrations in Lawrence and their customer service is simply amazing!!

My daughter went in today to get information about a touch-up. She knows it isn't a great tattoo, and has heard good things about this place. Seems things were going pretty well until Mike showed up. He talked trash on her tattoo, gave her a lecture, and was pretty negative about the whole thing. She said the first guy was really nice and she thought they were going to be able to fix things up... now she's going elsewhere. I guess you don't need customer service when you are good, I dunno.

Jo was my angel today. Had a nipple piercing that went south and hurt like hell, but Jo saved me a trip to the emergency room by being able to get the jewelry out safely and fitted me with a proper barbell. Even though it hurt, she still was as gentle as she could've been and her bedside manner was super sweet, genuine, and compassionate. I think I'm done with getting anything pierced, but I would highly recommend Jo to anyone. :) Thanks again, Jo, really appreciated you today.

Fun place to get a tattoo. We went on a Saturday when it is walk-ins only and arrived 30 minutes before the opened to an already existing line. Had to wait roughly 3.5 hours to get to our tattoos. I'm not sure if you went on a weekday if they charge the same minimum, but on Saturday the minimum was $80 for a tattoo, no matter how small or simple. That is a reasonable charge, but keep that in mind if you have something simple and small that would normally cost less, consider going somewhere else on a Saturday. Very satisfied with my work, the tattoo artist was fun, interactive, and gave great advice. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I do recommend going to Aftershock Tattoo.

I was about to get a tattoo done until she began belittling me, putting personal input in a pushy way, laughing at me inches away from my face. She litterally ran us out of the shop. I have never been spoken to in such a way at a "professional" buisness. Will never be back, and would NEVER recommend to a friend. Dont waste your time/money here. Go to freaks on broadway or beautiful body. They know how to run a buisness & they do a beautiful job.

Came in with a friend as walk-ins on a Saturday. Asked for an estimate to make sure they were on the same page as us price-wise however the receptionist said they do all tattoos by the hour. After waiting over 3 hours finally got in for our tattoos (simple enough a beginner could do them) artist wanted $120 EACH PERSON for 20 minutes of work. The artist got offended that we didn't want to pay that much. To make things worse during the middle of my session the chair slipped (wasn't positioned/fastened properly) nearly causing the artist to completely destroy my skin and tattoo. Bad experience. Facilities are clean and other than a situation that could have been prevented by a little more professionalism and a little less unsavory behavior the establishment seemed okay.

Jo is a miracle worker! The ball on my lip ring would NOT BUDGE as hard as I tried ALL DAY with pliers, rubber gloves - even having someone else try! I wish I could give zero stars. My friend and I walked in last night to get a quote, see if it was by appointment only, and just other information. The girl at the front desk was the least helpful person I've ever met. She did not offer any information and it was like pulling teeth to get any information out of her. We asked to talk to one of the artist to discuss what we wanted and she looked at us like we were aliens. It was the most awkward interaction and because of her we walked out and will never come back. It's too bad because this place has good reviews. They just lost two customers because of the girl at the front desk. Maybe it's because the younger generation does not know how to communicate anymore. Either way it's just sad.

Came in this afternoon to get my left nostril pierced (my first "real" piercing aka one not done at Claire's). The wait wasn't too bad, considering it was Saturday and they do walk-ins for piercings, but I would have waited 10 hours for Jo and Kat! I was extremely nervous and jittery and they calmed me right down, were very interested in the cultural significance of the piercing for me, and charmed my mom (which is VERY hard to do, trust me). The whole process was over before I knew it, and I was supplied with all the after-care info needed. When finally a guy arrived at the counter, I told him that I wanted to make an appointment. I had an idea of a tattoo I wanted but needed help putting the idea together. He laughed and told me they can't do that, that I had to be sure of what I wanted. I told him that I had some pictures but needed an ARTIST to help me (I thought that's what artists do). He then told me I could make an appointment for a consultation. I was so embarrassed because of they way he treated me. I didn't went again, decided to go to another place that actually treated me with respect and I felt confortable there...I decided to give them 3 stars because I've seen the work they do and it's awesome, maybe the other artists there are actually nice and knows how to treat people.

I just returned from getting my third tattoo this year from Brad (B-Rad) at Aftershock. I have had a great experience each time. The front desk is always staffed and the phone is ALWAYS answered. I have felt welcome and not like I am just taking up somebodies time. I had not been inside a tattoo business since the early 90's and they were never as clean as I have found Aftershock to be. I really can't say enough about front desk staff (I'm sorry I cannot remember names) Brad takes the time to listen to what I want and is honest about how he feels about the piece. He is very personable and does not try to rush me out of the chair. Brad explains everything he is doing and ensures I know each step of the process. Tonight I was also able to meet Al and John, two other artists. They were also very nice and welcoming and carried on a great conversation. I would not hesitate to return and will continue to send all of my friends to Aftershock!

I called to make an appointment and was told I had to come in to make one. I drove all the way there and then was told to make the appointment I needed a $50 deposit. I showed the guy at the front what I wanted and he just blankely stared at me and said "okay". Super unfriendly. I was going to make an appointment but was told they take walk-ins Saturday. I came Saturday and waited in line with about 3-4 different groups in front of me. They told me the wait time was an hour. An hour and a half later I said I had to leave cause I took my son to a baby sitter and she told me I was next so I stayed. Another 40 minutes later after they called 3 people back she said it would be a couple hours. I left and went down the street and had a much better experience. The place was cleaner, people way friendlier and they got me right in. The whole atmosphere was different. Horrible experience here trying to get my first tattoo.

So since I work 1230 to 9 I was having some trouble getting in for a tattoo. I had Thursday off this week and didn't know they only did appointments during the week but since I had a small and simple tattoo they squeezed me in anyway. Mike was great and explained everything to me since this was my first tattoo and he did a tiny bit first so I knew what to expect before he did the whole thing. He chatted with me the whole time too which was nice. It was a very comfortable and professional place and I will definitely go back if I decide I want another tattoo.

I dont know if all Tattoo artist at this shop are the same but the guy I got was rude, I came in with a tattoo idea that meant something to me & he altered the look of it to his own design & then when i made a comment about it he made me feel stupid for being so picky, something that will be permanently on my body forever, excuse me for being picky. And then when i asked how much for it he said 100... it was a tattoo that would hardly cover my wrist, a watch could probably cover it up i didnt expect to pay more than 60-70 but 100? He was definitely over charging me because he knew he could, on top of that... I had made an appointment, was on time and it took them 20 mins before meeting with me and then he said before he could start he would need 15 mins to goto mcdonalds and eat then he could start. So on top of making a customer wait who made an APPOINTMENT, He changed my idea, a design that meant something to me & that i really liked stating that he was unable to do it the way i wanted that all artist have their own styles even though i brought it in for him to trace and then he tried to over charge me... I will be looking else where for my first tattoo. I have lots of friends & family & my partner all have tattoos so i know when someone could careless about my business. I decided to look else where after all that... Dont recommend a business that have employees like this... my opinion.

I recently received my second tattoo from Joel at Aftershock yesterday. The front desk staff was very professional and helpful from my initial consult through the time of my appointment. I have used Joel as my tattoo artist for both tattoos, and he is a fantastic artist--he beautifully rendered the original tattoo I brought in and even added some extra embellishments to make it even more perfect! And as a bonus, he's a very laid-back person and an easy conversationalist, so it makes the process of the tattoo go by in no time! I highly recommend Aftershock and Joel if you're looking for a reputable establishment to get some ink.

Last year was my first time there and I loved it. I had an awesome piercer. Hope she can do my other one I'm asking for for Christmas this year from my dad. But I don't know how I can tell much it is. I guess I can ask my friend who gets her tattoos here and got her piercing fixed here as well.

The little girl who sits up front is so very rude. Has no customer service experience at all. I scheduled an appt and not even 24 hrs later had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, she refused to give me my deposit back, saying I signed a piece of paper saying they don't refund deposit. What I signed said woth on 24 hrs of the appt. She said no thats not whY it says and basically walked away.

Jo is the ONLY one I will allow to pierce me. No pain, just a little discomfort but she put me at total ease and answered all of my questions. I have had 2 piercings by her and my husband has had 8 and we have had no issues with any other them. I am going in for a tattoo next week. Hope they are as good as Jo is at piercing.

We went in on Saturday, which is walk in only. We got there right at noon and there was already a line of about 12 people, but we had the day open and knew we would have to wait. Our turn came after about 3 hours. But it was so worth it. Brad did amazing work. So much detail and time spent making our tattoos perfect.

I got my industrial piercing last February and it was an amazing experience. Staff was friendly and I was in and out in less than an hour. However I recently went back to buy a new piece of jewelry, and was told that the only person with access to it was the piercer herself. I was told she had over ten people waiting for her, so it would be hours before she could simply come out and sell me a piece of jewelry. I feel like that system isn't effective in the slightest. If you're just wanting a piercing however, I recommend Aftershock.

Quoted me $300 for a simple tattoo that would have been about 4in long. From other tattoos I have, I know I can get quality work for like $80 for the design I want from other places. Make sure you get quotes on your work people!

I came in as a walk-in wanting to get a small arm tattoo. I was put on a list and told the wait would be one to two hours. Four hours later I had to end up calling them. The staff told me that they had already called me and left me a message yet I received no call nor no messages in my voicemail. So they left some random person a "message" and wouldn't fit me in at the end of the night. I will not be going back to this shop due to their poor service.

I came in as a walk in for A nose piercing because they don’t do appointments on saturdays. I recommend you arrive early because there was a line outside 20 minutes before open. They got me in fast and jo was very good at explaining the aftercare. She was very calming and It went by so fast. Barely felt a thing! Definitely recommend and I will be back for more piercings.

I have gotten one tattoo here, and they were quick, clean, and everyone there is super nice. Besides that, I get all of my piercings done here, and I will never go anywhere else. The piercer is so rad, and she knows what she’s doing. She talks you through everything and makes you feel confident and comfortable in getting that piercing. She gives great advice on what piercings you should get before others, which side it would work better for you on, and she’s always honest and I appreciate that. I have sent 3 different friends to get pierced by her and they also say that they won’t go anywhere else. If you’re looking for a place to get a piercing, this is absolutely, 100% the place. I have no bad things to say about them. Aftershock deserves 5 stars across the board.

Jo has done my bellybutton and nose piercing and she was WONDERFUL. She talked to me and really made me feel comfortable about getting a new piercing in addition to my old ones. She asked me if I preferred to have her count before she pierced it or to just go at it. Not only was SHE very friendly, the other employees were too. The second I walked in a man greeted me at the desk and got my information and I went straight on in to get a piercing. Definitely going back to get my tongue pierced from her. Aftershock is an awesome place.

I have been here a couple of times and Jo is awesome! She made me feel comfortable when I was nervous about getting my nose pierced. She also gave me a lot of information about taking care of my piercing and such. I would recommend her to anyone who is nervous about a piercing. However, I recently came in to get a quote on a tattoo. I have never had a tattoo done so I figured the receptionist would ask me questions that would provide the right information they would need about cost and time. Instead, she made me feel like a complete idiot because I didn't tell her the style, size, etc. I told her that I wanted a lotus tattoo and she said, "Okay..." And just stared at me blankly. She only probed me with questions when I felt uncomfortable and told her that I was new so I didn't know what all I should tell her. I understand the tattoo artists may be great at their work and nothing like that but the first person you talk is the first impression you get. I've decided to go to Champions instead because they were informational and a lot nicer. They made me feel comfortable where here I felt put off.

We had to wait over an hour to have any sort of service because of an overlay of appointments. Al wasn't very helpful in the tattoo design and all he seemed to care about was finishing the tattoo and being done with it. It was pretty annoying and we didn't feel welcome at all.
