I just had some tattoo work done there a few days ago and I am very pleased with the results! I had Ray for my artist and I thought that her work was outstanding.
The piece that I had done was a cover up on a very old and very bad tattoo. Ray blended the new piece in over the old piece flawlessly... I cannot see any trace of the old tattoo, even though I know exactly where it was and where to look. Amazing! Now where I once had the crappiest tattoo on my body, I now have my best.
Ray had done an initial drawing for me that had been a little different than what I originally had in mind. At first, I liked her idea because it was very well done. Upon some reflection though, I then decided that the design wasn't exactly "for me." I called Ray a day before my appointment and discussed this with her. When I had arrived for my appointment the next day, she had a new drawing prepared that was perfect!
So to the other reviewers who had felt "afraid" or "intimidated" while there, I say this - if you're afraid or intimidated by confident women with tattoos and piercings then yeah, maybe this isn't your sort of place. I think that Ray may had been a little disappointed that I had rejected her first design, but my rejection was not based upon the quality of her work - I just didn't feel the design was completely "right for me" and she respected that. If you're not totally happy with what they are about to put on your body (for life), SPEAK UP, they aren't mind readers... "Attitude" and all, I believe that they do want their clients to be happy :).
I had thought that the facilities itself were very clean and very well presented. They were on par with with everything, and comparable to any of the best tattoo places I've been to where I've had work done or just browsed around.
This was my first work done by Starr Asylum and Ray. I highly recommend this place, and I think that the work speaks for itself... Everyone that has seen my new tat thinks that it is great. Thanks again Ray!
