Absolutely loved this place. Got my very first tattoo ever, the atmosphere so friendly and warm. When I needed a break in getting inked Emily was super nice and let me take as long as I needed. It's been almost a year since I was there for my tattoo. So, I took some time deciding about posting. The guy who did my tattoo gave me as far from what I wanted as possible. I sent several examples and he said he couldn't do them either because of the color or detail. He started acting impatient and was going out for a smoke more than he helped me with getting what I wanted figured out. I take blame for not just cancelling the whole thing but I also think he should have been a lot more helpful as this was my first tattoo. I made an appointment the very next day for removal. I still have it, still hate it and am out $2400 so far in trying to be rid of it. If you see the guy standing in the alley smoking, dont use him.

If you're looking to get a tattoo, then look no further. I'm absolutely blown away by the folks at Heroic Ink. Everyone I've had contact with has been polite, friendly, and the perfect mix of fun and professional. Had a cover up done by James. Incredibly talented artist, his work is top notch. This is by far the happiest I've been with the outcome of any of my tattoos. With a friendly atmosphere in an extremely clean shop I can't see why anyone would go anywhere else. All of my future work will be at Heroic.

I just recently went into Heroic to get my lip pierced and unfortunately had to take it out. My lip was pierced on a complete angle and the plate inside my mouth was basically up on my lip. Don’t get me wrong, my experience at the salon was a good one but it just sucks I couldn’t keep the piercing in due to it being done wrong.

Had two piercings done on either side of my ears. The staff was very well trained and had done the piercings semi pain-free. There is going to be some pain when you get piercings, that much can't be avoided. However, everybody was nice and the prices were reasonable and I still have the piercings to this day.

I went in there with a scary problem with my lip piercing (I didn't get it pierced here ) my lip was swelling so it was being cut by my stud. The piercer (sadly I didn't get her name ) was very nice and understood exactly what I needed. Thank you mystery woman! Lol

Easy appointment setup. Mump did the sickest, most realistic side piece. 4 1/2 hrs of pain, but well worth it. I have multiple tattoos and this is the best place and best artist by far. I just got a tattoo from here yesterday and it turned out GREAT!! I am absolutely in love with it! The environment is super professional and everyone is nice. James did my tattoo and it was a whole forearm piece that took just an hour. The whole time, he made conversation and cracked jokes. It helped me to relax because it was my first tattoo. The prices are low as well, which is awesome because of how great the quality of the tattoos are. Definitely going to make this the place I go for my future tattoos!!

Everyone who works there is extremely friendly and makes you feel comfortable in a situation that can be extremely stress inducing. I did a lot of research as I wanted a shen men piercing in my ear. After asking a lot of people, Heroic Ink was the top place named by a long shot. I called and they said I didn't need an appointment since the person trained was there. So I took my 12 year old with me. Walking into Heroic Ink, I was so thrilled to see how clean and organized the shop was. They remembered my phone call and after filling out a form, I was taken right back with my daughter. Everything was steril and i was extremely impressed and professional. Within 15 min, the piercing was done, paid for and out the door. I will be coming back again!

Went in for a conch piercing 3 months ago. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Prices were fair, this is why I'm giving them 2 stars. A week after my piercing I was keeping into contact with the shop about my doubts on the jewelry and placement of piercing and was assured everything was fine. Today I went to an APP shop in my hometown and they removed the piercing due to the piercing jewelry being too small to accommodate any swelling and shallow placement of the piercing. Still giving heroic ink 2 stars for the awesome staff and their prices. Plus, I've had friends who had great experiences. Just sucks mine wasn't one of them

Great for tattoos not for piercings. My nipples have permanent lumps on them because the piercer used the wrong style of jewelry on them. Another piercing was supposed to be pierced at a 10 gauge but was pierced at a 14 instead.

I can not believe how amazing my tattoo came out. It was a memorial tattoo for my grandfather and the appt I had beforehand cancelled on me last minute. It was important for me to have it done on this day because it was the anniversary of his death. I had an idea that they wouldn't do it given they closed in 30 mins but Emily was so amazing that she stayed late to do it for me. I can not thank her enough for that. Plus it came out gorgeous. The only place in Iowa that I will go to get a tattoo or piercing. The business was super clean and the staff extremely friendly! I walked in with a card from my grandmother in extremely small handwriting and Tracy made it look fanominal! Not only did she help to size up the writing but she was knowledgeable about how large the writing needed to be in order to keep it looking fresh for as long as possible. I also have a piercing from Heroic which I love almost 4 years later. Their work is astounding, definitely recommend anyone at Heroic for your tattoo or piercing needs!

My friend and I called Saturday morning after Thanksgiving to make appointments for our tattoos. We submitted the art as instructed by the front desk person. He said he would give it to his artist and have him work the drawing. My friend wanted some simple hand lines and we were told no problem on the phone. I told him I wanted specifically with a feminine touch. I was told also, no problem. When we arrived we filled out appropriate paperwork and proceeded to meet with the artist James. He told my friend strait up he doesn't do finger or hand art for reasons of fading and some other lame excuse he offered. Extremely disappointed my friend finally accepted his refusal to do the work. When I proceeded to speak to James about mine I was shown a trace drawing of the picture I sent in. I said I was hoping you would add a feminine touch to the picture I sent. He looked at me and gestured to his penis saying I have a penis. To me this meant he can't add a feminine touch because he is a man or the length of his artistic ability is equivalent to the length of his penis. Either way I was offended and disgusted at the conduct of the entire office. Why make an appointment with an artists that does not want to do the work? I would never recommend this place to anyone. Worst experience!!

I went to Heroic about a year ago, perhaps two, and I will admit that since getting more tattoos, it is the worse experience I've had. I'd never go back. this isn't even counting the blowouts I've had, and the fact the minimum is twice what I could get at home. The woman who tattooed me didn't say anything beyond the bare minimum, to the point I wasn't even told her name! They didn't have an 18+ only sign and we're extremely rude to my niece and nephew who were slightly young, but staying in the waiting area, though they were playing a little. Generally, that would be fine, as it was extremely quiet; about noon. There was one other person as a customer, and that was it. Overall, they were extremely rude, and all of it was overrated.

She answered all my questions, walked me through the process, and had a good sense of humor to help lighten the mood(since I'm slightly afraid of needles).
