In response to your reply to Darrin, I would have to say better communication between your front staff and the artists. I took the time to communicate twice via email and twice by phone by sending my requests to Justin. When we arrived for our tattoos, he had never received any of my correspondences. Justin was very helpful and patient. However, Justin had no idea of our color requests nor the actual format of our tattoo. Our examples were sent on two separate occasions, but Justin said he had been tattooing all day and never was told anything.

Chucky's work is top notch. Chucky took care to listen to our ideas and blew us away with his designs/artwork for placement on our ribs and some script on my inner bicep. The many hours on the table was completely worth it. The color is so vibrant and the shadowing work really created a ton of depth. The work healed up perfectly and is so bitchin'! If your in Maui take the time to go and see him you will not be disappointed. We emailed back and forth and then I went in for a free consultation. Great place and led us to the right person for the tattoo I was wanting, Bryan. I provided Bryan with a picture of a sketch to give an outline of what I wanted and an actual picture from my phone of the scenery I wanted in it. When I came back to the appointment he had an amazing sketch put together of exactly what I wanted and he made it very realistic! On my tattoo we didn’t do any color, just black and white, and he was able to make it look completely real! He was nice throughout the whole process and made sure that everything about that tattoo was what I wanted and was an easy person to talk to! If I ever go back to Maui I will for sure stop in again!

I was on the island to celebrate my 60th and was hoping to find an tattoo artist that did Maori Tribal tattoos. I had tried a couple but none that impressed me so I had resigned myself to cross this off my wish list. By shear luck, I met a gentleman who was in the process of getting the same type of tattoos done and he recommended Soular Tattoo and Justin. And amazingly Justin was able to fit me in and customize an amazing tattoo for me under a very short time constraint. His efforts and talent has made my trip here.

My wife and I contacted the shop a couple weeks before our trip to Maui for our 30th anniversary and we were scheduled for their last appointments on our last night of vacation. We couldn't be happier with our tattoos from Chuck and Justin. They did exactly what we asked for and in the time they estimated. Very clean shop and their work was amazing. What a great experience! Everyone who works here is friendly and it has a welcome feel..as opposed to some other places I've been!! Bryan tattooed my husband and i. He is amazing! He listens and gave us exactly what we were looking for. He's so efficient while still producing great art! I have 7 other tattoos and this was by far the least painful. I actually fell asleep!! I don't think that's a normal reaction but goes to show how gentle handed he is. Now my husband and i both have gorgeous tattoos to remember our honeymoon to Hawaii!! Starting from the initial phone call I knew this was going to be a great place. I am originally from Oahu, but am stationed up in new york, I went to maui to visit family. Anyways I called About a week in advance just so I knew I'd be able to get a tattoo. The receptionist was nice and able to fit me in. the artist was able to invasion what I wanted and was able to put it together really. So I go in my appointment about a week later and the shop is well decorated easy to find on from street on the second floor of this shopping area. i meet the artist and he took me back to where the magic happens. I had Chucky. I showed him that I already had a piece and I wanted him to work around It. he took his time to draw it up and It was awesome. He was very hygienic and detailed witch showed throughout his whole work. he was focused and didn't goof off like a bunch of other artist at other places tend to. the final product was great and I love it. I'm glad I went here. The price was fair and more reasonable then other places I've been too (especially New York). I know I'll definitely be coming back. and highly recommend it for anyone looking to get a tattoo.

If you are looking for tattoo artists in Maui, this is the place to go. I've had two tattoos done in Lahaina. Last one ten years earlier at a different long time establishment. I went to Soular based on referrals and would go there again. You can tell they care about what you want,you as a client and what they do professionally. Great people to work with. Had a fantastic experience here today, where Brian was able to squeeze me in for a quick, simple, and reasonably priced walk-in. It was much appreciated. This is definitely a quality establishment where you can expect great service and great work. His line work is as good as any I have seen. This shop is amazing! Walking in, I was greeted by friendly, professional staff and a very clean, well decorated lobby. They have tons of cool piercing jewellery in antique cases, too. I met with the owner/artist, Chucky, and spoke with him about my ideas for a large tattoo on my back. He was very helpful in letting me know how things would work together in my tattoo, very creative and talented, and drew up a quick sketch to illustrate things for me. We then made a formal consultation appointment. When I came back for it, Chucky had a few drawings for me to look at. I loved them both! We discussed price (very reasonable!) and booked me for a few sessions that same week! The tattooing went smoothly; Chucky was funny and easy to talk to as he worked. After the sessions, he was really informative on how I should take care of it, and they even have a range of after-care products for sale there, so that saved me a trip elsewhere. The tattoo is done now, and is more than I could have hoped for. I get so many compliments on it. Chucky is an artist of the highest order and, coming from someone who has many other tattoos, I can say this one is far and away the best. I highly recommend going to Soular Tattoo if you're in Lahaina, or anywhere on Maui. The shop is well worth the trip even if you're somewhere else in Hawaii! Tattoos are permanent. Looking at Chucky's portfolio, I can see he puts all his energy into every tattoo. He sure put a beautiful piece of art on me that I'll always be thankful for. The shop is far and away the cleanest tattoo shop I've been in, well decorated, upscale, and CLEAN! Everyone there was super friendly. No weird vibes at all. I'll definitely be coming back to Soular Tattoo for my next tattoo. I've already begun looking at flights next year!

I'd wanted another tattoo for a long time and after an incredibly meaningful experience on Maui, I decided I was going to do it. I found a design I liked and explained the changes I wanted and the meaning behind it. They scheduled me super quick for the next day. Justin did an incredible job not only with interpreting what I wanted and creating something beautiful, but also his detailing is fantastic. I absolutely love it. I called in asking about doing a hibiscus flower. I imagine these flowers are done often in Hawaii. The tattoo artist came out and looked at what I had. He told me he didn’t think he could do what I wanted and showed me what he could do. I was ok with that. After waiting for 25 minutes the artist stated that he didn’t think he could do the flower and I wouldn’t be happy. Although I am happy he was honest with me. If you are a tattoo artist and you can’t do a simple flower with color, why are you tattooing? I went to another shop who has been tattooing here in Maui for 28 years and he got me right in.

This was my first tattoo and Justin was awesome! The shop is great. The staff is friendly. Everyone made me feel very comfortable and answered any questions I had. The custom art Justin drew up was exactly what I wanted. He had no issues making adjustments as requested and wanted to make sure I was thrilled with it. What says it all is that the day of the tattoo Justin spent a ton of time making sure everything what perfect and spent at least 30 minutes setting, drawing and examining before ever reaching for the needle. He's a true artist and cares about his clients and it shows in the results. I'll be back next year! Here are a couple of photos. While on vacation we decided to get tattoos and every person we talked to told us to go to Soular. Justin was amazing, he took our ideas and put his own personal twist on them. We spent well over 3 hours there and our experience was amazing super friendly staff and Justin made it one of best things we did while on vacation. I grew up on the island and have lived in Lahaina for 5 yrs,,, have taken care of Chucky, Nicolle and their kids at Mala Ocean Tavern where I'm a waiter a few times before I knew he owned Soular Tattoo. Good People. I didn't even know where to go to get my first tattoo, couple friends mentioned this spot or that on the westside. I read my own reviews on the web, and settled with Chucky b/c he had the most reviews of everyone and was rated 4.9 star. Well, I just got lettering above the waistline, not a big piece or anything.. but Chucky and Nicolle are awesome from start to finish... I brought in an idea and was open minded to advice. Sure enough Chucky whipped something up that was awesome!! My first tattoo and I was put at ease right away. As far as the work done... above the waistline and under the ribs and based on the feeling and look of the letters, he seems to know his stuff. Im psyched!! big Mahalo Chucky and Nicolle. Look no further... this is the spot. I think Im gonna be goin back sooner than later for a second,,, hah BTW... super clean spot.... and really cool style
