Just had my tattoo done by Joe Byrne. He did such an amazing job on my forearm black and grey tattoo. Joe took the time to listen to my ideas and understood that I wanted to honor my mother’s memory with the tattoo. He created a beautiful design and his technique and execution were flawless. I highly recommend Joe to anyone who is looking for a a black and grey photorealism tattoo artist.

Koi Tattoo is an amazing shop. They are super professional and friendly. Everyone in the shop is talented beyond imagination, but I personally recommend Joe Byrne. The amount of care and time he puts into each piece is indescribable. He takes countless hours designing your tattoo and is patient to make sure it is the piece you want. His set up process for the tattoo is careful and he pays attention to every little detail. Joe ensures that skin is clean properly prepared for tattooing. Joe Byrne also took the time to explain and educate me on why he used the technique he used and why it was important he did it that way. He is very knowledgeable and fully recommend him to everyone.

Went here for the first time today with my best friend and had an amazing experience. The shop was cozy, fun and very clean. Our artist, Joe Byrne, is awesome. He's very friendly, funny and knowledgeable. The tattoo process was smooth and he talked you through the whole process. This was my 5th tattoo but my friends 1st, so having that talk through on the process was great. I would suggest to get dropped off as the parking is a bit hard to handle if you have a wide turning vehicle like me but that didn't take away from my tattoo experience. I will definitely be back for more! Thank you so much Joe, and Koi Tattoo for an amazing experience!

TL;DR - Came to the island to see my little sister graduate, left the island with a gorgeous tattoo by the incredibly talented RJ. When I first described what I had envisioned for a tattoo to RJ, I gave him a vague, abstract, disorganized, and unfocused mish-mash of images and symbols. After I word-vomited my mental picture his way, I felt little hope for him to be able to design something coherent. Twenty-four hours after we spoke, I received a picture message with a gorgeous draft of an image he put together. Through pure talent and skill, RJ organized the chaos of my thoughts into the art of my dreams. I knew as soon as I saw the initial sketch that I was going to get a new tattoo during this visit. RJ was quick to communicate and coordinate a time to sit with me and go from start to finish on his drawing. I sat for 5ish hours and almost snoozed through the session. RJ has a feather-lite touch which made the experience of getting tattooed that much more refreshing. He remained focused and professional during the entire process and only stopped for breaks at my request. His tattoo area was as clean as an operating theater. The music was on point too. Every aspect of the process with RJ was top notch. He's a wildly talented tattoo artist. His style of drawing is unique, practiced, honed in & on point and his tattoo work is worth every penny. 10/10 would pay for RJ art again.

I went to Oahu for work for a couple of months. I had decided prior to going out that I wanted to get a tattoo while out there. As soon as I made it Oahu and got settled in I immediately started my search for a tattoo shop. I came across Koi Tattoo on Yelp and decided to check it out. Walked in to see about setting up a date for a tattoo. Told them what I wanted and was set up with an appointment. Dodge the shop owner put together a brilliant original piece for me, and let me just say I am blown away with how phenomenal the tattoo turned out. I would highly recommend Koi Tattoo to anyone who is looking for a super cool, clean and fantastic overall tattoo shop.

I'm not a professional in tattoo artistry in any fashion - I've had 5 tattoos for many years and in deciding to get another; I couldn't have been more impressed, or pleased with the results from Joe @ Koi Tattoo in Kailua. Professional in every aspect, super clean facilities, and Joe cared, and talked to you on what and how you wanted your tattoo to be the finished product!! I didn't meet any of the other staff, however I will hands-down recommend Joe for any/all your tattoo needs!! You won't be disappointed on bit............. Just can't say enough of the compliments I've received in just a week of my new tattoo and I'm convinced to get another one from Joe!! I've recommended to several people already and their going to Joe !!! Come to Kailua, go to Koi and ask for Joe for any and all your tattoo needs. There are a ton of tattoo shops in Hawaii, and so many in Kailua, but I am so happy again that I chose Joe and Koi Tattoo shop!!!

This studio is amazing. The crew there couldn't be better people if they tried. My girlfriend and I were on vacation in Kailua and we decided to get tattoos. Lisa went out of her way to get us an appointment before we had to head home to Colorado. Dodge gave us our tattoos, and we couldn't be happier with the results. They are not only skilled, but have a vast amount of love for anything art or tattoo related. They are incredibly talented. That talent is matched only by their friendly natures. If I am ever anywhere close to Kailua again I will be going to more ink from them.
