Prior to my appointment, I researched Megan Jones’s at 808 Tattoo, and became content and confident and chose her as my artist. Unexpectedly 2 hrs. before my appointment , she texted to advise me that she was ill, so It was switched to Nick. Subsequently I responded trying to attain a link on his work to make sure I would be moving forward. To no avail, she still hasn’t responded. on my own I found examples of his excellent work that eased my reluctance to the abrupt switch. Lacking “Aloha”, Nicks personality that day wasn’t pleasant. He seemed annoyed and unfriendly. Virtues not prudent to display, namely in a customer service-based environment, especially when your about to get a tattoo. Regardless, I put my disdain towards his disposition aside and forged ahead. I’m glad I did because the outcome was excellent. I love my tattoo, and no matter what I feel about Nick his work is excellent. If you want a great tattoo, with limited “Aloha” go see Nick. Next time I visit the island I’ll be sure to specifically ask for Nick, this way I can get an excellent tattoo and maybe catch him on a better day. (Tattoo of the Hawaiian Islands in tribal)

Ok I don’t do reviews but I have to do one for Justin Hendrick! The first two pics are right after he completed the tattoo about 2 hours the third picture is today! I went to Hawai’i with my family my big brother passed away last October 14 2018. Justin is the BEST! I’ve been looking to get this portrait done and Justin was able to literally put the picture on my arm so my big brother is with me forever! If live or just visiting Hawai’i and need a tattoo Man go to 808 Tattoo holler at Justin! Can’t wait to have him to do more! 100% satisfied! Thank you again Justin!

In December 2017 I visited this shop for the 1st time. I got a small tattoo on my left wrist I designed myself & it was about $80 plus tip. A week later I went back & got another one (with a different artist) on the inside of my right wrist. I took good care of both tattoos. Unfortunately the color didn't stay very well on the 2nd one. I had meant to go back to get it touched up. I have other color tattoos that stayed nice 1st time around. I never made it back in until today. My friend's daughter wanted to get her 1st ever tattoo. It is about a nickel size black heart (only the outline). I recommended 808 tattoo because I also wanted to get the color fixed in mine. I ended up paying $60 (+$10 tip). My friend and her daughter got the same tattoo and were quoted it would be $50. (They had a different artist than I did.) We all live Honolulu so driving Kaneohe was out of the way. Their tattoos ended up costing almost $200. ($80 each plus $30 tip) They called the shop back asking to speak to the manager. The girl who runs the front named Marie was rude and NOT very helpful & told them there is nothing she can do. My friend's daughter insisted on speaking to management & were told call back at 2pm when the owner comes in. (BTW The phone call was on speaker phone, so I heard what was said.) After speaking to the owner l, they were offered $40 gift certificate. My friend happens to have both her arms covered in tattoos, so she has dealt with many tat artists. Kiki Plantas (tattoo artist) ripped them off big time!! I am disappointed I even recommended this place and all 3 of us will never return. I got my 1st shop tattoo 20+ years ago & never had to pay that ridiculous price!! It took less than 5 mins to poke the heart. My touch up today was 7 colors!! How you figure charging them $160 for something so easy & small & I only had to pay shop minimum. The owner sided with Kiki and not the customers!! Word to the wise: establish the price from the get go & even get it in writing notarized cause the tattoo artist can then change the number after the fact.

I had called to see if I could spontaneously wall in before dinner and before I left Hawaii tomorrow. The guys were accommodating, welcoming and they made you feel comfortable. I was actually recommended by an awesome tour guide who does Sandbar excursions at the paradise bay resort. Her name is Honey ( who is also another awesome and upbeat lady who makes you feel like Ohana!) I was looking at other places to get a tattoo but, by her recommendation, her character I choose the right place! You wont be disappointed if you come to 808 tattoo!

If you want mediocre service for a tattoo factory, this place is it. They cater to the Marine base nearby and other young military members looking to get their first tattoos. They pump out stamps, traced stencil work. Expect them to tie up lose ends, using their creative imagination to make your previous work flow? Forget about it. There may be an artist or two in there that does decent Asian art well, the typical koi fish, stick to the guys, not girls in there. Generally easy to please, indecisive, new to tattoos, or people leaving the island soon, go in here.

We stopped in last minute on our final night in Hawaii. Based on reviews we walked in and asked if the place had time for 5 tattoos. 808 made the time. Ronnie did my work and was funny, energetic and talkative while working on me. This shop was clean and all artists were nice specially considering the late walk in. They have many awards for their shop on the wall that proves their reliability. I would go back here again and have more work done in the future.

Relaxed environment, wonderful, friendly staff, worth every penny. Jordan did a phenomenal job on my first tattoo. I now have a tribal band around my forearm and Jordan made me feel relaxed and confident that I was going to receive great work. He is very knowledgeable about Polynesian cultures and tattooing and answered all of my questions professionally. This place is amazing...the shop was very clean and the people were very polite. I had an appointment here and Kiki was able to fit my wife in to my appointment as well so we could both get a tattoo together. We have been married 20 years and this was our first tat together. Heard good things about them. See the stickers everywhere. Pass it all the time. But cousins was visiting and she wanted some plumeria. We was asked to hold on maybe 30-40 mins til the next artist was done. 1hr later we're told just a few more mins. I noticed 2 artists just hanging out laughing in back. Another customer walks in an is taken right away. Almost 2hrs of being told "only a few more minutes" we went to leave. At this point the shop monkey decided he was ready. Not worth the hassle. Ever.

Walked in had something sketched up in 15 min. I had Stolfi who has been tattooing for 15 years. He was easy to talk to and did great work. Just did something super small line work with no color or shading. Was in and out in about an hour. Completely happy with my $80 perfect little pineapple!

I've gotten 3 tattoos there. Can't remember her name but I showed her a pic of what I wanted and asked if she knew how to do it...she says yes...but the end result was disappointing. No skill, got the color wrong, she should really take a drawing class!!! The little bald guy rushed through my tattoo, I asked for color, he said it's too small for color which is bs, I asked if he could do Roman numerals, he said yes, but he did NOT know how to, he just put little scribbles. The poly guy Jordan is the only reason I didn't rate 1 star!! He knows his stuff, he's a professor at WCC. Most poly artist don't know they are giving males female tats and vise versa.

Came in for a sleeve, talked to justin about it. He said email him some photos and ideas. I emailed THAT day. Three and a half weeks later, zero progress and two emails at best. Extremely disappointed in the professionalism and ability to communicate with your customers. If you're busy tell me. Dont just blow me off like I'm nobody. I will spread the word to never come here and avoid this place at all costs. I would put zero stars if I could. Sad sad business practice.

For our Anniversary we decided to both get tattoos and was told 808 was the best place to go on the island and they were right! Very laid back and professional atmosphere and extremely clean.
