Myself and a girlfriend went in for ear piercings and the attention to detail and throughness of Denice was stellar! The piercing artist (Denice) at InkSmith Tattoo & Piercing in Louisville was a dream. Attentive and kind and gentle. The piercing experience was more surprising and painful than my kid expected and she was not going for the second ear. Despite me trying to just get her to do the second ear, my daughter was firm: not today. So we left the shop, with the earring for the left ear in a bag and a promise to be back. Even though it wasn't what we were anticipating, we left having had a positive experience and really appreciated the professionalism and level of care provided to us.

I have no problem with their peircings but the woman who does most of them was very rude to me. When I told her I was excited to move somewhere with more tattoo and peircing places she said I had to be careful and talked as if her place was superior. On another occasion when I showed her the tattoo I had gotten elsewhere that I was quite happy with she seemed angry and told me "well there's always room for improvement." It's already bad enough to be negative about someone's tattoo, but even worse if you work at a tattoo place. I was offended and I will not be returning.

This is a review for Denice. She’s so sweet and great at what she does! I really appreciate that she responds very quickly (I dm’d her on Instagram). I was able to get my cartilage piercing and swap out my nose piercing without discomfort. My cartilage piercing became swollen (not her fault, had someone push down on my ear with the earring pretty hard) and she was super responsive. Seeing her again later today!

I came here for my 6th tattoo and a touch up of another and my son came with for his first tattoo. Kevin was so amazing with my son who I'm sure was more nervous than he let on. His design was done perfectly and looks better every day. The color is vibrant, the lines are well defined and the price was great. I was very happy with the vibe there. It wasn't a tattoo parlor that made me feel that I wasn't hard core enough to be there. Everyone was so friendly and nice!! My tattoo touch up on the top of my foot looks brand new again! The new tattoo I got looks great! I may go back to have a couple of flowers added and a bit more lining on the smaller buds (I got a cherry blossom branch on my ribs) I have no doubt that when I do, it will be fantastic. At first I was worried because the color shade was so close to my skin tone but as it healed, the detail is amazing and the colors look perfectly "girly" and accomplished exactly what I wanted! When I get my additional branches, I'll 100% be returning because I know Kevin will do a stellar job again!

Staff are friendly but prices are WAY TOO HIGH. I got a very small piece done & it cost me more than a piece I had done elsewhere that's 6 times bigger. Not real happy w/ the piece I got either, it looks unfinished, has weak lines, the "artist" using that term loosely didn't put any artistic flare in it. If you go here to get work, make sure you get the owner, not the long haired guy from FL. The same piece I had done was done on other people by the owner, theirs look WAY, WAY, WAY, better than the one the help (guy from FL) slapped on me. I've got nice art on my body, I've never had to have any of my pieces worked on again or touched up, but this one needs worked on more, I'll be getting it "FIXED" somewhere else. Owners are great, establishment is very clean & has a great environment, the shop owner does BEAUTIFUL WORK, so if you have a bunch of money for a new tattoo & go here, be sure to have the owner do your work, not the guy from FL.

Came here a few weeks ago to get my ears pierced. The website says that if you call ahead you can get a free piercing with the purchase of jewelry and a tip. I called and was told that this didn't apply to earlobes and that it would cost $30 to get my lobes pierced plus the cost of jewelry which on average was $15(not even close to accurate). I went with my mom and a family friend so they could help me pick out the earrings. Once I got there I was told that it was actually $30 per piercing so for both ears it would be $60. I was talking with the owner, Denice, and she was incredibly condescending and difficult to talk to. I mentioned at first that I would like black earrings but after being lectured on why black earrings can only be made from this specific, expensive, metal I said that I wasn't too picky about the color since I can just change them once it's healed. She proceeded to ignore this and only show me black earrings, frequently going back to this one pair of probably the smallest studs I've ever seen (that also cost $50 each, $100 for the pair). It honestly felt like she wouldn't even listen to me when I tried to explain the style of earring that I wanted. She flat out refused to listen to anything my mother or friend had to say since they weren't the ones getting the piercing, but would then talk to me like I was a child who had no idea what I was talking about. I mentioned my concern over the price and she said that anywhere that I went that was cheaper would be second rate and would probably give me an infection. The entire time she talked as if they were the only shop I would find that had any kind of piercing certification and were the only ones who would use aseptic techniques(something that any decent piercer will do). Overall a terrible experience that left us incredibly tense and frustrated. I would absolutely not feel comfortable having her pierce my ears. I ended up going to another shop in the area with a much nicer piercer who had just as many, if not more, piercing certifications, was super comforting and patient, wasn't completely full of himself, and only charged me $45 for both piercings and the jewelry. And surprise, surprise, he did a great job and my ears have yet to fall off... Edit: This review is 100% my own words, my mother didn't even know I was writing it. And yeah, she was giving her opinion on what was going on, which is why I brought her with me. It was you however, who was interrupting me and wouldn't let me talk. I honestly don't know how you can describe our exit as "storming off" since I was very polite with you the entire time. I visited your shop a month ago and was definitely there for more than 5 minutes since I really did want to give you a shot. I also don't follow you on Facebook so I don't know where you are getting that from. Your website says "please call the studio to schedule your FREE piercing with Jaycie" under her bio, this is what I was referring to and it was confirmed that she does free piercings by whoever answered the phone when I called. It's clear from other reviews that you can't handle any kind of negative feedback. Maybe if you learned to actually listen to people instead of dismissing any and all criticism then you would have fewer bad reviews in the future. It's never too late to improve yourself, Denice. I wish you the best.

This place was recommended to me by a friend. I've now gotten 2 tattoos here with Danny. As a needle-phobic 52 year old getting my first tattoo was a huge deal! All the folks here were super patient and understanding when I got a bit faint the first time. The second one was a breeze in comparison. Love my tattoos, love working with Danny, love this place! Amazing place for little lobe piercing! I asked our daughter if she could give 1 through 5 stars for her piercing with Denice and she said 6 stars! From the start, Denice and staff were very friendly and explained everything well. She made sure our daughter was comfortable and understood each of the steps for her ear piercing. Kevin was not prepared even after sending emails descriptions and pictures of what I wanted. It was the worst tattoo I have ever received. The colors do not match on the touch up Kevin did of a tattoo I had. So now I have 2 different colors on a tattoo where the green should be all the same color. What ever technique was used on the new tattoo the black ink smeared marks outside of the lines. What he charged me was over priced for the results I received. In response to the owner: I totally understand the time it takes with clients and with clean up and prep. What I am talking about is when he 1st sketched my tattoo it looked nothing like the pictures I had emailed. It was a waste of my time to send the pictures via email. Kevin did not even look at them. The person at the front desk had told me to email the pictures. So as a client I was frustrated. After having the experience I had, it is hard to want to come back and after your response it does not encourage me to come back either.

I recently got a double nose piercing, on each nostril. As I was looking at jewelry and I had multiple prices thrown at me making it very confusing on what the end price would be. The piercing came out symmetrical, but for the price of almost $200 for two nose piercings. I would only go here if you have the money to be spending for basic overpriced service and jewelry.
