This is the first and only tattoo shop I've ever been to, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. I went in knowing they had talented artists, but they're also all very friendly and fun to be around. The facility is clean, the location is great, and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. Josh Carter did my tattoo and he is great! I didn't keep track of how many hours my tattoo took (3/4 sleeve with chest panel), but it was definitely a lot of time spent with him and in the shop. Probably 5 or 6 visits, a few hours each time. Josh was always on time, professional, and fun to spend time with. I would trust any of the artists there without any reservation.

Every single artist here is incredibly talented so you can’t go wrong with whoever you decide to go with. Old town tattoo shop with stylish decor. The staff here is very hospitable and willing to help even first time clients get a tattoo from a talented artist. Jon Garber helms the shop and has a very traditional tattoo style. I was able to purchase a gift card online and they have an atm in the shop. Easy experience from booking a tattoo appointment to getting a stellar tattoo design. Very well done tattoos, amazing tattoo artists and very friendly customer service.

Lots of options for tattoo designs in a really nice shop! Everyone feels welcomed here. They have an ATM in the lobby, located right in the heart of Old Town, close to food and drinks. Perfect location with plenty of parking and is easy to get to. Best tattoo shop with great tattoo artists in Arizona.

Went for a walk-in session, having been in to check out the shop beforehand. The shop is super clean and professional and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The shop climate conveys the artists' styles and communicates their dedication to tattooing as an art form. Got two small tattoos from Max; his linework is clean and he works quickly. The prices are in line with artists who know their craft and take pride in their work. Overall I was impressed with the shop in general and with Max in particular. I will definitely be going back in the near future. This may not be the shop for your Scottsdale weekend souvenir tattoo, but if you want beautiful work, applied by professionals, this is your place.

Really nice atmosphere, very relaxed. Leo took his time and consulted with me a lot to make sure it came out the way I wanted. The artists seem to like each other which is really cool and added to the chill vibe. Line work is a smidge wiggly, but I'm sure that'll ease a bit when the swelling goes down and it was only $120 so a steal for what I got; Leo even added some nice shade work to make it stand out. Thanks guys will definitely come back when it's time for my full sleeve and shin.

For over a year I researched online to get my first tattoo by the right artist.My search led me to Josh Carter at Dame of the West Scottsdale Arizona.Josh is very knowledgeable on doing tattoos and his irezumi Japanese style is as traditional as you can get. I’m from out of state and he did everything he could to finish my sleeve,he drove as far as 5 hrs to meet up with me.

Got two classic swallow bird tattoos. They came out exactly the way I wanted from the picture I provided. I would highly recommend this shop.

I’m really happy to see that some people have good experiences at this shop, but I didn’t. I currently have a tattoo on my body that I hate because it is associated with an artist that does not deserve his work on my skin. That artist is Josh Carter. It is unfortunate that this is the case considering shows off some of his best work, hence why I entrusted him initially to work on me. He’s outgoing, so he comes off as a great person to do business with as well. However, the reality of my experience and I fear the potential reality for others is that I got swindled. I paid $200 for a tattoo smaller than the size of my palm. He only used black ink, one liner, the process took him roughly 30 minutes. During my time with him he seemed more eager to joke with his colleagues than pay attention to his customer. He barely talked to me. While I was trying to achieve the placement I would be happiest with, he was unwilling to work with me. He rushed me and talked over me. I apologize that Josh had to take time to reapply the stencil, but remember that the work is permanent... I am still not happy with the placement, or the tattoo for that matter. Tattoo artists are notorious for being fairly lackluster when it comes to professionalism. Most have egos bigger than the sun and seem to forget that their customers keep food on their table. It’s well understood that if you want good work you have to cater to these people big time. The tattoo industry is overly saturated these days. There are amazing artists everywhere constantly dealing out new and amazing designs. Professionalism matters. Perhaps Josh wasn’t interested in doing my small design or maybe he was too excited to go out and drink with his buddies after work since that’s all any of them could talk about - if so, then he shouldn’t have taken my business and scheduled me right before close. Please be mindful of your customers. I would’ve been happy to return to have many more pieces added to my already growing collection had this gone well. My thought walking out that night was that I would never return. The $200 charge for a $60 tattoo at another shop cost him money from me in the longterm. Buyer beware.

The owner josh carter is very rude an unprofessional if you leave a honest review an he does not approve he will harass you an threaten you or respond by saying "there's no record of you on our paperwork" I recieved a tattoo an it is not to my liking. I am not happy an there's nothing that the owner can say to make me happy and his temper tantrums are so unprofessional the tattoo work is less than acceptable considering it's a permanent mark on my body for life I did not realize I would be walking around with a tattoo that looks like a kindergartner did it. If you do not get the tattoos he wants to do they do not take thier time and do not attempt to satisfy their customers. An yes I did not use my real name to avoid being harassed to remove my review of my experience at dame of the west. I hope this review helps someone avoid what I went through an the regret I have to live with now.

Despite being a new shop, the 40 years of combined experience of Jon Garber and Josh Carter created an instant classic as far as tattoo shops are concerned. Everything about this shop is amazing from the decor to the people. The artwork that is coming out here is some of the best, if not the best, Phoenix has to offer. The friendliness of the crew makes for a fun experience, and you’ll definitely keep coming back. The only reason I gave it 5 stars is because I can’t give it 10.
