Lexy is a cool tattoo artist, but ultimately, my review is based on the job done, which I'm afraid to say was really NOT what I wanted. Lexy basically did a cover up of a cover up. I went in with a sun on my upper right back and wanted Lexy to tattoo over it with a bird. Admittedly, it was a little tricky as the sun meant the tattoo I had to choose to go over it would be dark. Anyhow, I went in with a tribal bird design which Lexy said she'd work with. She had loads of time to bounce ideas off me - she didn't. On the day of my appointment, I went in, she had completely scrapped the tribal idea and drew up something I really didn't like. After going over things, I found a tattoo that I thought would work. A specific bird tattoo that I sent her a picture of. I liked the shape a lot, and the look of the bird. She went away, took the outline of the bird I had chosen, and pretty much free-styled on my back. I didn't mind at the time, she seemed like she knew exactly what I wanted. Well.... it wasn't. The shape of the bird is not what I wanted, nor is the proportion. It has hardly any texture to it at all. The bird's eye is simply a round flesh circle with nothing to it. The tattoo artists I have gone to after this to try and do somethig with it say it'll be really hard because the tattoo as a whole is REALLY dark. But hey ho - I paid, $350. And will now be paying even more to try and get it to the standard of tattoo I initially wanted. I emailed Lexy to explain that I was disappointed, I must've offended her because she didn't reply. Anyhow, that's my story...and lesson learned.

I went in for my first tattoo here because my cousin told me this place was really good. I wanted something small so I just walked in and they were able to take me right away. I was tattooed by Andrew and he was awesome and made me feel comfortable about the whole thing and told me that if I needed a break, just let him know. It was quick and he was thorough with the post care instructions (which I definitely appreciated) and was very understanding of the meaning this tattoo had for me. It wasn't just Andrew (who is awesome btw) either... as soon as I walked in, everyone was friendly and made me feel comfortable and welcome. Can't wait to come back for my second tattoo!

In my 22 years on this earth, I thought I was a fairly normal looking person. I was quite surprised when I walked into Black Lotus with the intention of getting a bit of work done, when I found out, based upon the girls reaction at me, that surely there is a dick, protruding from my forehead. Sadly, I will now have to postpone my tattoo to cover the costs of this penis-removal surgery that they only preform in certain sketchy parts of Nogales. Wish me luck.

Avoid this shop. Within 60 seconds of my walking into this business I was informed by a loud and overly opinionated Jersey looking kid the functions of a computer and its ability to blow up objects. "Thats what computers do" I was informed. Good thing he was there, or all my years as a systems admin would have gone to waste. Jersey boy and his condescending approach to what could have been a customer to this business was enough for me to take my business elsewhere. Thanks for the laugh Jersey boy. The other person that will get my business and my cash thanks you as well, Im sure.

I went here for my very first tattoo, and not a single regret. I get so many compliments on my shading and coloring. I'm constantly recommending people to come to Black Lotus when they compliment my piece. Brian was my artist, amazing talent! If I ever decide to get another tattoo, I won't even hesitate to walk through their door again. There is a reason they only have five employees -- they're all talented, dedicated, and I'm willing to put down money that they're the friendliest shop you'll ever walk into.

Have been there several times, all excellent, until last night...appt was at 5pm, Andrew did not start on me till 6:30, he had no other client since 5:15, when he walked to front with one he had just finished..I know this cuz there were 2 other artists with clients one gofer , no other people on shop..Andrew did not start my tat till 6:30, after I went to the back at 6 to see why..he made excuses n said 5 more min. 6:10pm he came n brought me back, put pattern on my arm, left for 10min, another excuise 6:30 started, was done 7:30 ...his attitude the entire time very condescending , would have asked for my deposit back n left except my husband kept saying, "just have patients, maybe he is cleaning up" he made a point of letting me know he deducted $10 n was sorry I had to wait...granted finished tat s what n how I asked..probley wwillgo tuere again, but will not ever recommend Andrew Raffield to anyone, no offense to the shop or other artists... ...

My husband got an amazing shark tattoo on the back of his leg by Tyler, who may I add is a very friendly nerd. He remembers a lot of clients when they come in. My best friend got a hand tattoo by Tyler as well that turned out very nice. He is funny, and has a lot of ideas. I personally am working with Brian. His art work is more my style. I love how excited he was to do my tattoo, and how he was throwing out tattoo ideas for the future. He is a very calm listener. I almost fell asleep getting my tattoo because he has a light hand. My friend has also been tattooed by him, and she absolutely loves it. I am not a huge fan of water color tattoos, but if you are interested, he is very good at it. This place is overall clean, fun, and has great music. I enjoyed my time here, and I have future appointments coming up. Things to remember when shopping for a new artist. 1. Not every tattoo artist will do your tattoo. They may not want to do it because it is not something they are comfortable doing or maybe they don't think it will turn out the way you think. (every artist has their own style) 2. When you do a "walk in", you should expect to wait. There are other people ahead of you that booked appointments. It's not the artist's fault that you walked in an hour before closing, and weren't able to be tattooed right away. 3. Check out your future artist's Instagram. See if they are your style.

A friend is getting a full sleeve here and highly recommended the shop, so my sweetie and I went in to check it out. We were instantly impressed by the vibe and look of the place. After a consultation, we scheduled an appointment - just a few days' wait, which was nice. On the day, everyone we dealt with was fantastic, and our artist, Andrew, was amazing. We both got 2 simple black tattoos (paw print and initial), but the work was impeccable and completed more quickly than I expected. We followed the aftercare regimen to the letter and all 4 pieces healed perfectly. We will absolutely be back for more; I hope to try some of the other artists, too.

Tyler has tattooed me twice and I recently booked an appointment for my third by him. Each time I enter this shop I am treated with a friendly level of professionalism that I haven found lacking in other local establishments. I am never rushed. I am never scolded for my choices. I always leave excited and happy to be paying for thier services. The quality of work I have received from Tyler is nothing short of phenomenal. My first tattoo from him is still as vibrant and fresh as ever; people often mistake it for only being a few months "old" when in reality it is going on 3 years. I am also so grateful that Tyler is experienced enough and confident enough as a tattooist to make placement suggestions. He knows where his work will shine; and isn't that the point? Thier facebook is only a further testament to the versatility of thier artists.

Great tattoo, great people, great shop! I couldn't be happier with my experience at Black Lotus and with my final product. Byron worked with the references I gave him and even worked in a few last minute changes/details. I've been to a few shops where I felt out of place and spoken to condescendingly because I don't necessarily look like a girl with tattoos, but this is NOT that kind of place. Super impressed overall!

I spent quite a bit of $$ here last year and was very disappointed with the customer service. The artist I was working with left and they would not refund or transfer my deposit to a new artist. They have great artists but that’s only half of the business. They act like they are doing you a favor by simply doing what they are being paid to do. You can find other places in the valley that do just as good of work but treat you and your money respectfully.

Booked my appointment 8 months in advance with deposit. John Hansen called me in advance to discuss. Went in early the day of to further discuss and make sure my tat was perfectly placed to cover an old tat, it's a portrait of my mother. We spent hours and more hours doing it. Not only was John terrific but his professionalism and perfectionist outlook are bar none. He is talented and patient and doesn't mind in the least showing you. I'm thrilled with the outcome was invited back to check and make sure it's exactly the quality and color that it should be. I am not really sure you can ask for more in a tattoo artist and/or customer service.

Aaron Riddle is my guy and Black Lotus Tattoers is my shop! I have had several artist work on me over the years, but I was looking to find an artist that I could grow with and have work on me exclusively. I am a traveling salesman and have been scoping out shops and portfolios for the last several years and I was very impressed with the first impression that Black Lotus gives and I loved Aaron's portfolio. Aaron and I met and one of the things I appreciated about him is that he wanted me to be comfortable and I didn't feel pressure to say yes and just get something. I have started a sleeve on my right arm and the first piece was a crown, and although it may be simple, it barely felt like the needle was hitting my skin and the piece turned out great! Im gonna be working with Aaron from here on out and I look forward to see what he comes up with for me. Absolutely love love love the work that Aaron has done for me and can't wait for Byron to take on my next project in January. These guys are the real deal - true artists, not just a bunch of garage tattooers looking for the next quick buck. They take pride in their work and aren't willing to compromise their values. They will give you an honest opinion, they run a clean facility, are upfront with their pricing, and they won't screw you over to make a profit. I had originally been in a year ago for a big cover up and after multiple consults with Byron, the project just couldn't be done the way I imagined it. He gave it to me straight - that in his professional opinion, my expectations weren't realistic and that the finished product would not be aesthetically pleasing. Although I was disappointed, I really valued his opinion, and that's why I choose Black Lotus time and again. When I returned a couple of months ago for a new project, I had intended to meet with Byron, but after taking a look at the inspiration, I was advised that the style of tattoo I wanted was more in John or Aaron's wheelhouse. I'm glad I went with Aaron because I am absolutely thrilled with the work he produced. I think a lot of disappointment with tattoo artists is that there is a lack of a management of expectations. The guys who are out there just to make a dollar will do and say everything you want to hear to land that sale. Black Lotus isn't about that, and that's something I really respect about this establishment.

I was tattooed here last week. Everyone made me feel relaxed and at home instantly. At one point when I was feeling woozy, one of the artists grabbed me a coke. I just loved the overall attitude and atmosphere at Black Lotus. Very warm and welcoming. Someone on here mentioned that they felt discriminated against for being a BBW (big beautiful woman). Although her feelings are valid for her scenario, I want everyone to know that my experience was the opposite. I was not once made to feel inferior or strange. And that's because I'm not a BBW; I'm an old fat chick who had her huge cellulite-ridden thigh on display for the whole shop. Weird? Nope. These guys are professionals. They are kind and hilarious. They are there to give you a great tattoo. They definitely have my business from now on. Love this place!

Black Lotus Tattoo parlor is one of the cleanest, aesthetically appealing shops I have ever frequented. The owner's wife is a professional interior designer and she did a fantastic job with the interior of this place. It looks good and smells good and it has a very comfortable atmosphere. The artists here are top notch. I have gotten eleven (11) tattoos from here over the past year and a half. My favorite artist is Tyler Nealeigh - the old school guru! I love the old school style and Tyler is the best. What an amazing artist he is! I will never go to another shop. Once you found the best, who needs the rest?!

My boyfriend and I go to Black Lotus for any and all of our tattoos in Arizona. We usually see Tyler but all of the artists here are great. Don't be afraid to go in with an idea and talk it over with anyone there, they're incredibly creative and can create an amazing piece for you. I recommend following their shop's Instagram page so you can check out the artists and their personal Instagram pages to get a feel for their style. There are a lot of tattoo parlors in Arizona but this is easily one of the best.

After setting an appt and giving the sixty dollar deposit, i went back to the shop at the time of my appointment. After discussing the drawing a bit with the artist he disappeared to the drawing area where, apparently all the other tattoo artists were at. After seeing the subject of my tattoo (personally important to me and it doesn't have to be to anyone else) an uproar started which i could hear a good 60 feet away, over the loud obnoxious music that was playing, in the lobby. Apparently none of the "artists" in the shop thought the tattoo was worth doing and were making fun of me, and the tattoo artist that was being "forced" to actually do the tattoo. The only woman in the shop, Lexy, apparently is so above the situation she flat out said (and again she said it loud enough to hear it 60 feet away) she... "would refuse to even do that tattoo"... at which time all the other artists had a laugh and added their tid bits. So the bottom line for me is that if you want your tattoo artist to be young, immature and under the impression they are SO much above anyone else... use this shop..... Its really too bad too. The shop was close to my house and I intend to get 2 additional memorial tattoos this year, but now im back to looking for a new shop. Oh yeah and obviously Alexis Freeman (Lexy's) bio on the shops web site is just BS because that is definitely not the impression that comes across when you hear her say the things she said!!

Just stopped in to have them look at a wedding band i had done a few months ago in Portland. I spoke with Jerome and Tyler and both were very respectful with me and my finger tattoo (they wear-off and are unpredictable). Glad that Tyler was willing to work on it when I let him know I understood that there is no guarantee that the ink will last. The shop itself is very clean and well put together. My wife like it so much she booked an appointment here too. This is a very professional shop and I will be back.

I went in to attempt to get a quote and potentially put down a deposit on a tattoo. I showed them a picture and I asked how big they would have to make it to fit the detail and they replied in a condescending tone and refused to help me. Stating that I should find somewhere else to get it done and they refused to work with me at all or talk to me about it. Their customer service was terrible and I ended up taking my business elsewhere.

Gave them 3 weeks notice to get a tattoo done. I needed to cancel after giving them a $60 deposit and was told at that time that is was not refundable and they were keeping it because he booked the whole day for me. I gave them 1 week notice, plenty of time for them to book another client. No they have $60 and they did nothing.

Do not communicate with customers. I placed money down on a tattoo, artist changes the estimate on pricing after they got my money. Was told i would have a drawing ready in two weeks. Come back a month later after no contact from artist and was told he had been on vacation and had not even started drawing up my tattoo. The artist then moves locations, never communicates with me. I have tried getting in touch with the artist and have had zero response. I have essentially been robbed of my down deposit. Black lotus tattooers is not willing to work with their customers and I would highly recomend looking elsewhere. Preferably somewhere with respect for their establishments name.

Me and my boyfriend came here out of spontaneity for a walk in tattoo. This was our first time here and we left before getting anything due to how rude one of the artists were here. We both have full sleeves and numerous other tattoos so what we experienced here was a first for us. After already waiting about an hour we were brought back to meet the artist that would be doing our tattoo. We ended up walking out after this guy cut me off when I began to tell him what we wanted, stated so many times that what we wanted "was not his style", that he only does traditional Japanese art, and continuously contradicted himself when discussing our idea. He even referred us to a fellow artist sitting next to him stating that he could do the style we wanted but not him. Oh, and we can't get you in until Monday... Let me point out that we wanted a tiny cactus and UFO. Literally, that was all, AND had already waited an hour after being told that it would be no problem to get this done as a walk in. This artist is BRIAN, which I had to look up due to him never introducing himself in the first place. I have never written a review about a tattoo shop but I've also never encountered such a rude and condescending artist and will never go back to this shop nor refer anyone here.
