My experience with Louis Tailoring was absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know how she has been in business for this long and operates this way.
Here is what happened:
I needed a bridesmaid dress shortened. However, my bridesmaid dress did not arrive until after I had moved out of the country (unfortunately). I was returning to the Appleton area a week before the wedding, though, so I called Louis Tailoring 1 month before this to see if it would be possible to get my dress shortened in less than a week.
She said, certainly, no problem! I would just have to make an appointment. So, I made an appointment for the morning after my flight arrived.
I went to my appointment at the time we agreed upon, except she wasn’t there. The person working said I needed an appointment to get fitted on a Saturday. I said I had an appointment for 11 a.m., I had made it one month ago. The person working then said. “Oh ok. Well, she had to go to Chicago for a family emergency and must have forgot to call you.” Ok, that’s understandable, emergencies happen. They also said if I came in on Monday anytime during normal business hours I could get fitted and still have my dress shortened in time for the wedding.
I went in on Monday was fitted – no problem. We agreed my dress would be done the night before the wedding. I was to come back on Thursday after 4 pm.
So, I arrived to the shop a little after 5 pm on Thursday to get my dress….except it was NOT done. She had forgotten to shorten my dress!! I was leaving early the next morning, as the wedding was in Lake Geneva, so I needed the dress that night. (And what if I had to leave that night for the wedding and it hadn’t been done?!!)
Thankfully, she stayed open later that night and said she would complete my dress. I had a nail appointment with the bride and bridesmaids that evening, so I was going to come back after that. The appointment took until a little after 8 and I had a voice mail at 7:45 pm stating “it has been a very long time since my dress has been done... am I going to come and get it?” I thought that was rather distasteful, as it should have been done at 4 pm, like we agreed upon. I have no idea what time she actually had finished the dress.
Then, I get to the store, get the shortened dress. After running back and forth to this store all of these extra times, and all of this ridiculousness…I was still charged the full $73.50 to have the dress shortened.
I cannot recommend Louis Tailoring at all after this experience.
