Martin Tailors is the best! They have done both alterations and repairs for some items and all turned out perfectly! I would take anything and everything to Martins - even items you think might not be repairable. Won’t go anywhere else!

There wasn't any communication. I was told it would be around $20- $40, but it came out to $140 (for a $70 dress). I wish the tailor had told me a price estimate for some of the alterations. He asked me if I wanted to keep the pockets but didn't mention that it would be way more expensive. To add insult to injury, the tailor was pretty grumpy and hard to work with. And, as for the results... my sleeves were made too short so that I can't bend my arms in the dress.

When I needed suspender buttons sewn in last minute, Martin answered the phone personally and told me that he would wave the rush fee. I was told 48 hours and received a call the next day informing me they were ready for collection. This is my first tailor and will be my go-to from here on out.

This is my first experience at Martin Tailors. The functionality was good, as was the customer service and price, but I expected and hoped for more. I requested the sleeves shortened on a $150 Patagonia Better Sweater Jacket. The gentleman who fitted me said the sleeve finish would be the same (hidden stitch) including the visible surge stitching. Unfortunately, the finished result was different with a visible stitching and no surge. Although a minor detail, the finish stitching makes the sleeves look cheap, especially since the stitching wanders in some areas. I had heard great reviews from co-workers about this tailor and finally decided to give it a try. Maybe my expectations were too high. In the end, the sleeves function as they should, the price was $20, and customer service was good.

I brought in 2 pair of slacks to be tapered and hemmed and a vest to be pressed, this was on a Monday about 3pm. I asked for next day service and it was possible but I couldn't pick up until 3pm. I told the clerk thats fine Ill pick up Wednesday and he replied AM Wednesday. On Wednesday I arrived at 12:45 PM and at first they couldnt find my clothing, then I was told that 1 of the 3 items wasnt ready. Then after waiting another 10 minutes I was asked to describe the item that wasnt ready. Then I was told it would be 1hr and a half until that item was ready. They offered to deliver the item later in the day but that was not an option. I really thought that at a cost of $60.00 per pair total bill $120.16 (slacks to be altered and expedited service) that I would have been offered some type of compensation refund due to the services I requested were promised and not fulfilled.

SPENT $750+ B/C OF RECOMMENDATIONS ON APP BUT RECEIVED TERRIBLE SERVICE. 1) I got man handled and popped on the ass/hips by the older bald gentleman after he pinned a pair of pants. 2) I paid $23 - $32/ pant to take up 1 size--I later heard an older man negotiate a $13 dollar price! 3) Little 3 year old boy (cute and quiet) unsupervised and was pinching the sides of my hips like he saw the tailors do, 4) I didn't want the 23 hangers given and a really nice guy (guy with lip piercing) started taking them off. A woman with bright red lipstick said "tell her to take our hangers off herself and help me with these customers!" 5) After a refitting the large guy posted outside my dressing room with door ajar and his hand inside wanting the pant I was wearing . As a woman, I did not feel comfortable taking off my pants in front of this guy! After prepaying $750+ and a first time customer, I cannot go back even though I have to pick up 5 pair of pants that had to get redone.

They are amazing tailors, and true war heroes. They conduct their business promptly and professionally. They have gone out of their way to help my family restore my Grandfather's old and decaying bomber jacket from the Battle of Guadalcanal perfectly. I love this place. One problem is that there stitching is too delicate on 120-160's supers. It tends just break down easily.

I love giving vets my business, but this shop is ridiculously overpriced for alterations and when you complain its basically push you out the door. They do a nice job but so do 1000 others in Houston and they are nicer. Wont be going back.

I went to Martin Tailors because I heard they did high-quality work. The quote for a few minor alterations (hemming, darts, and adding straps) was high -- $125 -- but I decided to do it because I wanted to make sure that my $300+ formal gown was in good hands. However, when I went to pick up my dress, there was a big run in the fabric! They "fixed" it and assured me I would get a discount, but even after "fixing" you can still see where the run was -- it's a permanent blemish on the dress! When I went to pay, I was still expected to pay full price. The staff was extremely rude and no one ever even apologized for damaging my garment. As I had paid a deposit, the owner eventually called it even and told me to get out. He also told me not to come back -- not to worry, I would never return anyway! I caution anyone else from giving this place business! As much as I wanted to support a family run, veteran's business, they have a lot to learn about customer service -- not to mention that my expensive garment is now permanently damaged.

After being a customer for 6 years, I’ll sadly not be returning to Martin’s. Work quality has gone down over the years, one has to keep going back to get the work done again. I used to think the price was a little too high, but was willing to pay for quality. That trade off doesn’t exist any more. To add insult to injury, the attitude of their front desk is horrendous. I had just spent 150$ and came in for a second time because they didn’t do it right. They wanted to charge me more and talked down to me with a lousy attitude when I questioned the extra charge. Finally realized after twenty years of using them how over priced they are and rude. Took in some map panels to be hemmed. Couldn’t give me a price said they had to see how muc work and call me. I gave them a $75 deposit. They texted me today and it would be $39 dollars per panel. I told them that it was for a non profit and they couldn't afford that price and I would come pandora pick up the material. They did reduce to$30 and than $25 but I said no. I picked up the material and they charged me $30 for the quote!!!!!

walked in, ignored for a few minutes. told there werent any guys there to help me(didnt ask for or require a man). 10 mins later, they drag a guy out of the back who tells me he cant alter my jacket till i clean it bc "it will shrink". I told him I've had my jacket cleaned before and it didn't shrink and I'm willing to take the chance and they just stood there and looked at me like I was speaking ancient Egyptian. So just grabbed my stuff and gave my $300 worth of business to someone else. terrible customer service.

I splurged on a shirt from Saks for my husband’s holiday party and it went from being too big to way too small and only on one arm opening. I knew they wouldn’t refund the cost of the Alice and Olivia shirt so I asked for MT to refund the cost of tailoring (I asked politely). I was told they would refund the 45 dollars they charged me but it would be better for everyone if I didn’t come back. I can accept the fact that they made a mistake but to treat someone that way when you put them out 200 bucks is bad business. Not to mention, I wasn’t coming back anyway.

Walked in to get buttons done on a suit. Quoted $60 at the front desk. Guy that altered my jacket charges me $120 instead?? Told them at the front desk that even Joseph A. Banks was only charging me $60. The guy that altered my pants was pretty rude and told me to take them to Joseph A. Banks. Really taken back from this type of service. I guess having pictures of exmilitary on the walls entitles them to treat customers this way? I’m a veteran too, so disagree. Reading some of their similar reviews and prices have gone up considerably and service continues to go down. Unfortunate, as I had been a customer for 15 years. Guess I’ll just get everything done for Half price and better quality at Joseph A. Banks. Hope you figure out how to talk to your loyal customers and give an Exceptional customer experience. Went in Friday at 4:30 to have two articles of clothing altered. The gentleman who fitted me labeled the order as a rush order and I was able to pick the goods up at 5:30 that same afternoon. Very pleased with the quality of work and service.

Martin Tailors provide expert level alterations. I've been going to them for 5+ years. I dropped off some slacks on a Sunday, that needed to be taken in at the waist, and they were ready for pickup the following Wednesday. My slacks now fit perfectly. They provide excellent customer service and even text you when your items are ready for pickup. They are reasonably priced and pay the upmost attention to detail in the alterations you wish to make.

I really like this place. I was looking for a good tailor for a long time and I didn't want to let just any ole dry cleaning place touch my clothes. I wanted an actual shop that specializes in tailoring to help me out. So I did a quick search in Google and this was one of the places that popped up. Seeing that it was only about 15 mins away from my job I decided to give them a try. I probably should have started them out with some pants to adjust for me to see if I would like the place, but instead I started them out with a pair of pants and two, yes TWO blazers. Was I scared, you bet your a*s I was. They gave me a date when my clothes would be ready and told me they would text me, which I read reviews about but still thought it was odd lol. To my surprise once Wednesday, the date they gave me, came around I sure enough got that text, the hardest decision I had to make was whether to text them back or not because when I went to pick up my clothes and tried them on I was more than happy that not only did everything fit perfectly but I found a new home. Not to mention the price for two blazers and some pants came out to be 123 and some change. That's excellent compared to some places I heard to adjust blazers are 100 each o_O trippin.

The tailor I had gone to since I was in college retired (how could you retire on me!?). She wanted to spend more time with her family. What's a girl to do? Luckily, friends recommended this local tailor. I won't lie, I was a bit apprehensive the first time I pulled up but they quickly put me at ease. This place is a well oiled machine. You go into a dressing room, change, and you stand in line as someone helps measure, pin, and/or chalk you up. You can see through to the back where employees are furiously working to make sure each garment is tailed to your needs. They've got these pretty cool devices that tag your clothing with your name and number. And they TEXT you when it's ready! More often than not it's always ready early (so refreshing!!). The prices are a little higher than what I had been paying previously, but it's right off Washington and is so convenient. And the prices do seem to vary -- for example, I can go in to get jeans hemmed, once it'll cost $15 and another time it'll cost $18. They really do a great job. Leave the tag they put on and try the clothes on at home. If you aren't satisfied, bring it back (with the tag still on) and they'll tailor it until you're happy! Talk about great customer service.

The staff was courteous and very helpful. Made you feel very welcome from the moment you enter and quickly addressed my needs - they were really enthusiastic and friendly, this must be emphasized. The item I brought in seemed out of the ordinary for them, so they checked right away to see if they could help and quickly told me it wouldn't be a problem. I was having two items sewed together to turn it into one item (two neck warmers for hunting which is now one dual-layer piece) and they asked the tailor directly who gave me a direct answer. He checked, and double-checked, on exactly what I wanted to make sure they were delivering on a desired result, and to ensure no confusion arose from my terrible explanation of the work I wanted done. It was busy in there the day I went, and they took the time necessary to see my job through 100%. They promised, and delivered on, next day service with very high quality. You would think the item I was returned was factory made as a single piece. Outstanding workmanship. They sent a text message to my cell phone when it was ready for pickup. I can't believe how well they did the work, and that was bested only by their customer service. I was recommended highly by a friend, and I wanted to pass that along to whomever may read this. Usually, a tailor can be a matter of convenience but it doesn't matter if you live near or far from Martin Tailor - go there. If you have tailoring work you need done, be confident in their work and staff.

I've been bringing my clothes here for alterations for close to ten years. I visited them for the first time on account of a coworker's recommendation. He said he relied on them for suit alterations. Thanks Chris Bilton! They almost always send a text message when an item is ready, which I really appreciate. The owners are fabulous! They are always so friendly and never forget a face. I feel like I'm visiting with an old friend each time I go in. They used to be able to return items a little faster, but their client base has grown and as a result it might take a day or two longer to get an item back. I'm fine with this because I'm happy to see them doing so well. I also know that I have the option to pay a little extra to have an item ready sooner. I just try to plan well in advance if I know I'll need an item ready by a certain date.

Do not go here for alterations unless you want to be misquoted and charged a ridiculous premium. Not only was my garment incomplete when I arrived to pick it up, but they informed me that the quote provided was for one of two piece (even though measurements for alterations were done on day one and a quote provided when I asked). This not only put me in a time crunch but without the option to find an alternative tailor -- so inevitably, they were able to charge anything. For dress that costs $178, I would've never imagined to be charged $250 (in which I paid $200!). Always obtain a full quote and don't allow people to take advantage of your circumstances!
