WOW! Nick tailored my tux for my wedding and I felt like a movie star. Great work!
Always does outstanding work, best in town. Highly recommend!
I absolutley love the ladies here! They are kind and knowledgeable, and always do a fantastic job. I wont go anywhere else in columbia
Expensive, but worth every penny. Nick knows what he's doing and won't hesitate to tell you if he can't do it or if what you're asking for is not realistic. I had a jumpsuit hemmed, as well as taken up in the bodice that came out perfectly and a second jumpsuit where the arms needed to be shortened and the shoulders needed to be adjusted. About 80$ total. His shop is small, with clothes/fabric samplings everywhere (as to be expected), don't let the clutter put you off, he runs a good business.
Wow! These people are friendly, fast, and know what they are doing. Give them a try for all tailoring needs. To be specific i had an entire suit tailored to a fitted style/look. Several people have asked where i purchased the suit:)
Highly recommend. Brought in 2 pairs of jeans that were too long. They were shortened with the original hem and now fit me perfectly. They were also ready 2 days early. And the lady that runs the front is so sweet and helpful... I immediately trusted they would do a great job. I will definitely be back.
I was in Columbia for my daughter's wedding. She was a Gamecock cheerleader and had to get married back in Columbia. I was handed a gold vest to wear with my tux. The vest need to be taken in quite a bit. I received the vest back that afternoon tailored and pressed. He charged me only $20. He could not have been more gracious and pleasant in working with us.
This place is all around horrible. After taking my dress back from them and going elsewhere, I can comfortably say staff at this place has very little clue what they’re doing. I took my wedding dress there about three weeks ago to start the alterations process on a Saturday. I had to tell the woman who pinned me that the dress wasnt tight enough and that it was oddly bunching in the front - which was clearly because the dress was not pinned properly or fitted to my body correctly. But she assured me that it was just the fabric of the dress (come to find out later that’s not the case). She also did not insert the padding into the dress properly and instead asked me to just do it myself and pinned them haphazardly. I felt uneasy at this point, but figured since someone I knew recommended them that they would be good. They could not provide a quote the day of (not sure why since most places are able to), and the woman who helped us stated that they would call me back with a quote the Tuesday of the same week. They didn’t, and instead called over a week later on the next Tuesday to give me a quote of SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS to alter my wedding dress. My dress doesn’t have beading, and I was really just getting basic alterations such as taking in a few inches, hemming, and bustling. I knew this place was pricey, but $600 is just absurd for alterations. My Mom called and stated we would be picking up my dress because we wanted to get a second opinion on pricing. When she went, the woman literally said nothing to her and just handed her my stuff. Sorry, but this is rude (when we never were to them, we were rightfully skeptical) and if we felt the price was truly justified, we would have paid it. But based on the way the dress was pinned and the fact that they didn’t call us when they were supposed to, the price just added to the fact that I DIDN’T need to get my dress altered there. I ended up going to another place today where the woman was clearly knowledgeable about her craft. She took her time, made sure the dress had no weird bunching in the front (I didn’t even mention this to her - she just happened to make a comment about it and fixed it immediately) and she pinned my dress in a way that I felt it was literally made for me. Not to mention, she’s doing even more to my dress than Nicks was, AND she charged me less than $600. Do not bother with Nicks. They’re clearly not worth the absurd prices they want to charge.
Bought a suit last minute for a party and had to have the pants hemmed next day. Despite the clear inconvenience, Nick's took me in no problem. Very friendly and professional staff, high quality work, at an incredible price. Wouldn't take my business anywhere else.
Nick and his staff made a dress for me from a photo! They do amazing work!
I needed two dresses shortened and taken in and he quoted me $130-$135. Truly disgusted by his way to rip me off. Considering I've always been used to reasonable alteration prices, he totally surprised me and took me off guard. I would not recommend Nick's tailoring to anyone, too expensive and unreasonable.
It is with a heavy heart that I have to give Nick's one star. I have been a loyal customer over the past six years and trusted him with garments from lab coats to evening gowns. His work has always been of the highest quality. I did not consider another tailor to do the alterations for my wedding gown. My now husband's sport coat alterations two months prior to entrusting him with my gown should have been a clue that quality is starting to slip at Nick's. After it was taken in, the front was longer than the back. A new seamstress there measured him. I assumed that Nick would personally oversee my gown since he measured me. Sadly, I was wrong. A personal tragedy took him away from the shop. When I went to try the gown on, I was told Nick was not there and to return on Tuesday. I made a mental note of the uneven hem and loose straps to discuss with him on Tuesday. Due to work commitments, I could not make it on Tuesday. His assistant called to check-in, and I explained that I could make it on Wednesday. She said that would be fine and she would have Nick come over then. I called Wednesday and was told that "Nick cannot come today." I asked the assistant when he would be there and she replied "I don't know. His son is sick in hospital." I told her I needed my gown by April 4 as previously agreed on and she said she was not sure if it would be finished by then. I asked what I was to do about this and she did not respond. Knowing I had little recourse at that time, I paid for the alterations done so far and took possession of the gown. While I understand the gravity of Nick's personal situation, his staff should have contacted me if they were unable to complete the work without him. I would have gladly picked up my dress and made other arrangements. Thanks to my amazing wedding planner, I was able to find Kitty's in Greenville to bustle my gown and repair the alterations Nick's staff made on short notice.
This guy is ridiculously fast! I took a dress to him on Tuesday and asked if he could have it hemmed by this upcoming Friday and he ended up having it finished an hour after I brought it in. It was $20... I don't know if that's expensive or inexpensive to have a dress hemmed but I needed it quickly so I didn't think it was that bad of a price. I have never used an alterations place that could get my stuff back to me that quickly either.. Usually it takes about a week or longer. This is the first time I've used him but if you're pressed for time he's super fast and does a really good job! I highly recommend him!
Nick is top notch. Been using him for years and years and will continue to do so.
Skilled seamstress, great customer service and fair prices.
He does a great job
Because of my weird proportions, I always have to get skirts and dresses taken in. Although Nick's takes much longer, and is much more expensive, their technique is amazing. Instead of the garment looking like it has been taken in - it always come out looking like I bought it off the rack in perfect proportions. I never have to worry about losing certain details with the garment such as stitching details or secret pockets.
paid $73 to have the sides taken in on a sundress. the dress is still big. would not recommend this place.
Disaster with my daughter's ball dress.
Excellent tailor. I've has suits and tuxedo's fitted here and they always do a great job. Friendly, professional and always a pleasure to deal with.
He apprenticed as a tailor in Portugal for seven years.
If I could give this place a 0, I would. They did not have my dress ready when they said they would. They took my measurements incorrectly. It took 4 trips before I realized how horrible they are and ended up taking my dress somewhere else to fix all the mistakes they made. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DRESS HERE.
Had an interview, and in the morning my pants button popped off. When I arrived the ladies there quickly took care of it for a very great price. Very kind, I would definitely go back
Nick is the best. I was visiting town and noticed a rip in my trousers near the pocket. I needed an immediate repair and found Nick. He fixed my pants while I waited and sent me on my way. Quick, fast and easy. If you need a tailor in Columbia South Carolina you must go to Nick.
Nick is expensive and he isn't fast. Need a button tightened or pants hemmed? Three weeks and $20-30, as opposed to three days and $10 at a strip mall. Why go to Nick's then? Because he is THE BEST, perhaps THE ONLY true tailor in town. Want your pants, shirts, and coats to fit to perfection? Take them to Nick's. Want your new suit to go from off-the-rack sack to movie star dashing? Take it to Nick's. Want a professional who will tell you flatly if something can or cannot work? Get thee to Nick's. I live in genteel poverty and his prices can REALLY hurt my bank account, but when I require nothing less than the practiced hand and eye of a consummate tailor, I will not trust my clothes to anyone but Nick. I've been going to him for more than five years and his work is worth every hard-earned penny.
Order some pants that came in entirely too big and i came into the shop and told the woman about my big event the next day, she hooked me up !! I will definitely be back if i need altering! It was ready on time and looked perfect !
