The ladies at this shop are very knowledgable and flexible about time. She repaired a brand new shirt that I had bought for a trip in one day! I have used them several times and will use them again.

Maria is a miracle worker. Needed to have extensive alterations on a dress (basically creating an entirely new dress) and she blew me away. Her husband, however, is a crotchety and extremely rude older man, who does not know how to speak to other human beings with decency or respect. Avoid him at all costs when you walk in, and limit your interactions with him, and you'll have a great experience!

Let me begin by stating I understand everyone can have a bad day and I am sure some of the reviews I read have some merit. My experience with Mrs. Maria was great, however. Before moving to Summerville, I used their services on many occasions in the past and recently sought them out again after my recent shop went out of business. I was treated with kindness, respect and actually thanked for trying on the pants to be altered. You read that right, thanked for trying on the pants being altered. My advice, give them a chance.

I've had a pair of jeans, two skirts and a dress altered here. They've always done a great job, and I've been treated well by the ladies who work there. Maria's husband, however, has been exceptionally rude every time I go in. The last time I dropped off a skirt there, I went to pick it up on the day they said it would be ready, and when it wasn't ready I was made to feel like it was my fault and I had confused the date (even though it was written on my receipt).. and Maria's husband actually "tossed" my receipt back at me and started angrily talking to Maria in Russian(?). It was incredibly rude. As I said, they've done a good job thus far on everything I've taken there, but I will probably keep looking for another tailor - one that is a little more appreciative and respectful of their customers.

Walked in with a minor fix for suit pants...they took it right away and finished it before I could grab a coffee next door. They were extremely nice and refused to take payment for the fix...I will be back. Thanks Maria's!

The employees were very rude. I asked to have a flower sewn to the waist line of a dress. When I got home I realized they sewed it on the back, now I'm going to have to spend more money to have it fixed.

If you must get your clothes tailored here, I would just advise you to brace yourself for the insanely rude service, and make sure you check that they haven't ruined your garments before you pay and leave the shop. I made the huge mistake of getting my favorite skirt altered right before I moved out of state, and now am stuck with a completely uneven hemline with random threads hanging out everywhere -- I don't even know how they managed to do such a bad job. Unfortunately, there isn't any other competition for tailors nearby, so this place gets away with horribly rude service and really awful work as well.

I would definitely recommend Maria's Alterations! The ladies fixed my dress that Island Alterations completely screwed up! I was in a huge time crunch and they fixed the dress very quickly!

I give them a one only because they did the alteration for me as an emergency and the job was ok. This was the rudest lady and she should not work with people. She started yelling at my son in the first 30 seconds because he did not wear a long sleeve shirt. No one told him to I tried to explain something to her and she loudly interrupted me and would not let me explain. If it weren't for the fact I needed the jacket for a funeral I would have walked out. I will never go back!!!!!!!!!!!

There is something not good happening at this shop. Stopped there and there was no one available to do the pinning for an alteration. The second time, the altered article was not ready and we had to wait in a coffee shop for an hour. This time, although the invoice and the door list Saturday hours, the store was closed. A future bride was also standing there aghast because she had an appointment for a fitting. Someone needs to get their act together.

Service very rude I felt uncomfortable during the fitting no one really told me anything. I came in the store only to be greeted by frowning faces and no hello and no interest in what I had brought in to be fitted. They just told me to put it on and did not talk to me throughout the whole pinning process and told me to take it off and that was it. I paid in cash right then and there. Not once was I ever rude or mean it to the ladies that work there I actually paid extra five dollars extra as somewhat of a tip for their services before I even got my finished skirt, and when I found out my item wouldn't be made on time they wouldn't refund me saying I never paid. Owner was very rude on the phone even before the confrontation happened. This is the place I selected because of the reviews I wish I had the same experiance as everybody else had maybe because I am my early 20s they treated me differently, I don't know, I never would go back to this place. And good luck to anyone who does. Reading for the other reviews I see that there are some similarities and experiences make sure if you go there that the owner that is a man isn't there or else your whole day will be ruined I've never been treated like this as a customer in my life and I shouldn't be battered down by a old bitter man.

I know this place has bad reviews and people say they are mean. However I wonder why my experience was no less than stellar? Maybe because I brought in a sports shirt for alteration and I am not a nasty bridezilla or a groom with an attitude who feels I am owed respect when I do not offer it? I'm not certain....But these people were friendly from start to finish and the job is so good I cannot tell it was even done... Except for now it fits perfect!

I dropped off a dress to be tailored which had a satin ribbon belt loosely attached to the waist line. When I picked up the dress that piece was missing and they were “unable to find it” and insisted they didn’t remove it. The picture of the dress before dropping it off had this piece attached, when I picked it up it was not there. I guess it just magically disappeared. When I was picking up my dress there was another customer who came in complaining about work they had done. I would highly suggest finding an alternate tailor.

I've only taken one thing here, a long time ago, but I had a bad experience. The business owners seemed bothered to deal with me. I called after a couple of weeks and they said it's ready, but I had never received a call from them. I think the quality was OK, but I was frustrated by the experience. I like Diana's Alterations much better.

Believe the bad reviews. At first the family owned operation is friendly. But when they gave me my invoice and told me to come back a few weeks later to try on my pants for the hem, they were not transparent that I would have to pay MORE money for their “extra work. When I expressed my concern all they could state is “we do not do work for free and the invoice states ‘do not hem’.” When I continued to press, the husband came in and said “take your tux the way it is, go to a different alteration shop because if we we going to do it now, I’ll charge you $100”. They were very rude in their service and non apologetic about not explaining their invoice or process. The shop has no price charges posted and expects the customer to understand what is going on.

Maria and her husband are a fun and friendly couple. They don't take credit cards, so beware before you go in =) I had 2 pairs of men's jeans, a dress and a pair of dress pants to be tailored, ranging in work that needed to be done. For all garments, I paid just under 60 bucks, which was definitely worth it. Will be going back whenever I need something altered.

Horrible experience! Came to get a suit altered for a wedding, they forgot to alter the waist line which is why I came. When I returned to have the suit fixed, I was told I would be charged again. STAY AWAY!!!!

Had Maria’s alter 4-5 articles of clothing that were brand new. After one use the stiches just undid on every one of the items I brought in . After multiple visits to get fixed the stitching continues to come undone . Don’t go unless you want a hassle and your clothes to look bad

I would NOT recommend Maria's Alterations!!! I paid $88 to have a bridesmaid dress altered. They were supposed to take the length up an inch and a half, take the sleeves up so they would not fall off, and take it in around the hips. When I came to pick up the dress, they were busy and I would have to wait to try it on. Unfortunately, I had to get to my job, and much to my dismay discovered at the wedding that nothing had been altered properly. The straps/sleeves were falling off of me all night, I had to be double-stick-taped and sown into the dress. I went there today to say I was more than un-satisfied. I tried the dress on for them and the man had the audacity to make a joke and say he thought it looked nice when the sleeves fell down. They would only refund me $12!!!!!! I could tell I was not getting anywhere with them. They are rude and untrustworthy!!!!! DO NOT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
