Julius' customer service is second to none! I came into Julius after stopping at another alterations business at The Markets at Oakland. I'd never recommend that place to my worst enemy, but I digress. As soon as I walked in the door at Julius, I was greeted with a warm smile and welcome. I explained that I needed some alterations done and that I had just had a bad experience elsewhere. The young lady at the front desk was more than willing to help. She explained that usually alterations are done by appointment to ensure all recommended items (shoes, belt, etc.) are present for the correct alterations. Rather than the three pins in each garment the first place put in, this lady clearly knew what she was doing. She told me she would pin what Julius Alterations considered a standard alteration and if I wanted it looser or tighter to just let her know when she was finished. When I asked about the pants being maybe too tight at the cuff, she explained how the style of my shoe and the look of the pants would compliment each other. Mind blown! I could honestly care less if Julius was double the price of the place I went to first. The customer service was amazing. In 2018, WHO ends their business transaction with eye contact and a handshake and a genuine "Thank you for your business. It was a pleasure to meet you."!?!? Julius Alterations and Cleaners. That's who! If you go elsewhere, you're doing yourself a disservice. I promise.

I can't say enough about how great they are. From cleaning to loads of complex alterations, I have been extremely satisfied with the service, cost and quality. I have had four suits altered in the last two months and the experience was transformative. They took a decent fitting suit and made it a masterpiece, sculpted to fit only me. Most people are completely unaware at how badly our clothes actually fit until they've had something tailored just for them. On top of it all, the experience, for me, is a bit like going back in time. Now, I don't mean technologically, I mean in the way they treat their customers. For so long we've lived in the quagmire of poor customer service which we gladly exchanged for convenience and plasticized everything; however, at Julius Alterations I found myself transported to a time when people cared about their customers and treated them with dignity, kindness and respect. The only complaint I have is that i wish their business model carried over into other storefronts and businesses. The only Dry Cleaner and alteration shop in Mt. Pleasant worth your time.

They not only removed the stain, they were able to correct & reverse errors, in cleaning, that the other cleaner made. I am a new customer I came in after I missed my original fitting appt. They made me a new appt with nothing but kindness. Once I arrived, Marti pointed me to the fitting room. I could tell she was very busy. Everyone in this lovely little tailors shop was working. She made sure to tell me when I made the appointment to bring all needed for a suit fitting. This suit swallowed me. I came out of the fitting room, in this big suit. Marti comes over and has me measured in two minutes. Is very upfront with pricing and states exactly when my suit would be ready. She even offered to have it ready sooner if needed. They tailored this suit in six days. Left me a text that it was ready. I swing in on a break to pick it up, am greeted instantly with a smile. My suit is with me in minutes. I was in a hurry so could not try it on but after the reviews I have read, figured it should be fine. I was not disappointed! When i put on this suit, it felt like Julius alterations was giving me a hug. Thanks for making what is usually a pain, very simple and nice. Your time, money and clothing matter here. You cant go wrong! I will be back!!!

I will never go here. The customer service was horrible one of the seamstress told me I needed to lose weight since my dress is a little too small without looking at the dress. It was just rude and mean. After her call I just wanted to cry.

Marti is wedding dress Queen! She has done alterations on all my suits, pants, etc., so of course I trusted her with my wedding dress as well. She cleaned and hemmed it. The dress had a stain on it when I purchased it and the bottom was dirty from being tried on and dragged across the floor. The cleaning she did left the dress FLAWLESS. With a wedding a day away and inclement weather in my hometown causing my normal tailor to be closed, I called Julius Alterations & Cleaners to see if they could whip my tuxedo into shape. I needed the pants hemmed, waist taken in, and the jacket taken in as well. A delay in travel plans and a wedding party golf outing meant I didn't get the tuxedo to them until after 3 PM on Friday. I received a phone call before noon on Saturday stating it was ready for pick up. The fast turn around and excellent work performed on the garments resulted in many compliments. If I lived in the state, I would gladly make them my new tailor. Additionally, I really enjoyed talking with Robert and Marti. I took 2 of my favorite dresses in to Sew Julius - they had always been cut a bit too high under the arms, but with no extra fabric to let out, I wasn't sure anything could be done. Marti pinned the dresses where I would need them cut down and said she would see what could be done - 2 weeks later, I have my dresses back and they fit perfectly! I also dropped off a torn lace skirt that was repaired so well, I can't even tell where it was torn! The quality of the alterations is excellent and the price paid for such quality is very fair! I came in just before they were about to close but she greeted me with such a great attitude and began to ask me what I wanted to get. I told her about my dress pants that i wanted alterations on and she took the time to make the measurements all while taking in new customer and also answering her work phone. These folks are GREAT!!! I bought an expensive pair of shorts and they were too large. Went back to the store and they were out of my size and didn't expect any more of that type.......I was bummed.......my wife says "why don't you just get them altered?" I was like, "really???" So, I looked at places near me in Mt Pleasant..........AND.........as I ALWAYS DO......I looked at their Google Reviews.........they had the best reviews so that's where I decided to go........The owner asked when I needed them....and tongue in cheek......I sheepishly said.........TOMORROW............she laughed and said........ok, you leave me no choice......come back at noon!!!!!!!!!!! So, noon it was......the shorts were hanging in a plastic bag AND THEY WERE DONE!!!!!!! I can't say enough about this company.........GREAT service, GREAT location, but most of all GREAT PEOPLE!!!!!!!!! Recondition your down pillows- years ago I remember my mom telling me that when my down pillows got older, I could recondition them. I have been searching for a company that would do this and I really wanted to support something local. I am so glad I found Julius Alterations & Cleaners. I believe they are the only place in Charleston that has the machinery to recondition down pillows. Marti was so sweet (as everyone else has said in these reviews) and now my old matted-down, stained pillows are like brand new!! The turn around is very fast and the price was very reasonable. Marti told me that most of their down pillow business is with people who ship them pillows from out of state. I am so glad we have this service here in town and I am glad to not have to mail them away- if you have down pillows, I highly recommend you give this a try!

Excellent service from this company. They professionally restored nine vintage down pillows handed down from my husband’s great-grandmother, meticulously following our detailed instructions. Despite our delays in responding to their clarifying questions and with only a few days remaining until Christmas, they managed to complete their work and ship our pillows back to us in time for them to appear under our holiday tree as a gift for my husband. Prices were incredibly reasonable and refreshing these pillows was much, much cheaper than buying new down pillows.

I am so happy I came to them and I will continue to go to them for all of my uniform and future clothing needs.

Very nice people and they may be great for alterations. However, I used them for laundry - dress shirts and slacks. The price for men's dress shirts is about $3.00 - a ridiculous amount to charge. I just moved here from Atlanta where I paid $1.25 for dress shirts.

Not impressed with my alterations. From previous reviews, I believed my dress would have fit better after the straps were shortened. I thought the bust was too big, but the seamstress didn't seem to want to take it in. For $70, the straps were shortened, with no other alterations. When I picked up the dress, it was still wrinkled and had to take it to a dry cleaner (again) to have it steamed. When the dress was worn for the event, double-sided tape was used on the bust and straps to keep myself covered. Otherwise, I would have revealed waaaaay too much bending over. Maybe they invest more time in the wedding dress alterations? Not sure, but I won't be taking my wedding dress there. Meh.

My son wanted to go retro for his prom and so we ordered a vintage 70's tux from ebay. The pants and jacket were both a bit tight and he wanted to clean up the look of the pants. I called and spoke to Marti and she made us an appointment to come in. She measured and marked the tux and then used a new pair of his pants to compare to. The results were amazing and we couldn't be happier. Buying the tux and having it altered was still cheaper than renting one. He and his girlfriend were definitely the best dressed at the prom.

I'm in my late fifties and had a feather pillow from my childhood. I slept with it up until about 3 years ago when it became so clumped up and well, smelly. I couldn't bare to part with it though. Then while StumbleUpon surfing I came across Julius Alterations. It stated they restore feather pillows - I was elated. I sent the pillow to them (from Oregon). Little nervous parting with it, but the chance of restoration seemed worth it. And SO IT WAS! I walked in and as soon as i began to discuss about the alteration they refused to alter the clothing because i hadn't washed them. I understood what the young girl was explaining to me but they wouldn't even discuss anything further. I am so fortunate to have found Julius Alterations and Cleaners. They do top quality cleaning of down and feather pillows in the most professional and eco-friendly way possible. They quietly reassured us that wedding & rehearsal dress alterations would be completed expertly, step by step, quality would be perfect, pricing would be at a level that rework, would not be needed, and we got exactly as promised. Wow!!! In this day & time, just how rare is it, that customer service you receive actually lives up to what they promise up front just to get your business? Well, ( Almost Never)... but it does with Marti & her team. Bridesmaid dresses they altered were perfect, some dresses done elsewhere required reworks. Our true story; another alterations shop took our money up front & for 6 weeks no work completed. With much stress, many calls, lost time, we retrieved our dresses & most of our money then found our way to Marti & their team based on their service being the only one who had a 5 star rating, and we have been thrilled ever since. I shudder to think what an unfixable mess we could have ended up with, had the first shop actually cut the wedding dress & lace rehearsal dress & begun their poorly designed tailoring. I hope our review helps someone else in avoiding a similar nightmare scenario like our family endured & going straight to the expert team at Julius from the start. Now we are going back for cleaning of the wedding dress & packaging for storage and cleaning the mother's dresses too. This place is the best alterations and cleaners I have ever used- good quality, fair prices and they actually care. I've had several items of clothing hemmed and patched and they've always done a great job. However, what really makes this place 5 stars is the personal touch. I forgot to pick clothes up I had dropped for dry cleaning and realized it Saturday when I started packing for a cruise my family and I were leaving for the next day! The store was already closed and I emailed explaining my situation and asking if there was any chance someone would be by the shop before we left. I got a call within minutes of the email and Marti had someone come in about 30 min later to unlock the store and get me my clothes. Amazing!

I went in to Julius, dropped my clothes , had to bargain with them to get a four day turn over for simple starch. she told me "WE" hate starch .. i get there to pick up my clothes , double the price, she said they had to rerun my clothes because starch didnt take!! so in other words , they screwed up and had to run clothes twice , so i had to pay for there mistake!!

I had a 3 piece suit tailored to fit in July and while staff were perfectly pleasant and polite, when I brought my garments home I realized that the waistcoat was not fully stitched back up meaning I had to drive a half hour out of my way again to have them correct the error. Was not happy with care and quality of work. Edit: I have amended my review after receiving correspondence from the owner who reminded me that while errors are rare they do happen from time to time and since he was so prompt and thorough in reaching out to me I am willing to return to this business in the future. In the meantime I do recall that staff was indeed very polite and professional and gave a reasonable turnaround for their work.

I was worried about getting my wedding dress altered due to I had been to 2 other alteration stores and both had told me it was going to cost so much to alter my wedding dress or that it would be impossible to hem it due to the detail in the bottom of my dress. However when I called and spoke with Marti she set an appointment with me to look at my dress and she was wonderful! She made me feel very comfortable and welcomed. She did an AMAZING job with my wedding dress and it was very affordable! She finished in a very timely manner and stayed in communication with me through the process. I will be raving about her talent to everyone. Don't bother looking anywhere else! They are they best!

We came to town for a funeral and purchased a jacket that needed to be altered that day so that it could be worn by a pall bearer. We called several alteration businesses who could not make the complicated alteration in time. Despite his busy schedule, Julius graciously altered the roll collar so that it fit our son perfectly. Marti & Rob were phenomenal!!! I found them on Wednesday April 9th and in typical last minute fashion, I needed to have my 2nd wedding dress altered and ready by April 12th because I was flying out on April 14th for a destination wedding. I went in with this huge dress (in length & in size) and Marti was eager to accept it so late and to my surprise, she told me it would be ready that Friday. I couldn't believe how easily she accepted my dress so I had to confirmed we were talking about "the" Friday that was 2 days away and not the Friday that was 9 days away :-) and she said "yes-of course". I went back to the shop on that Friday (that was 2 days away :-)) and my dress was ready and it was FIERCE!!! The length was perfect and it hugged my curves as a mermaid dress should!!! I could have ended up at any alteration shop but felt blessed that my steps were guided to Julius Alterations & Cleaners. During that 1st visit, I felt like I'd known them for a long time because we discovered a mutual friend in common and Marti and I both majored in HR so I remained in the shop talking to them for a very long time. I'm that person that will not write a review but even though its late (settling into married life, etc) I promised myself that this experience would be my exception. I brought in my vintage wedding dress (handmade by my grandmother for my mother) for cleaning and alterations, and I was so pleased with the results! The dress is very delicate, so we did extensive research before deciding on a cleaner, and not only did it come out looking fresher, but they were even able to remove a 35+-year-old stain from the front. The alterations were done even faster than expected. Marti is very sweet and very knowledgeable-- I was so pleased with my service that I will even be switching from my regular dry cleaner!

Julius Alterations is a LIFE SAVER!!!!! Marti and her staff saved my wedding dress for the biggest nightmare ever! The dress that I bought only had one size left, a 2, which fit great except it did not zip near the top of the dress (the chest). Marti was a true professional that eased my worries and was able to let out the dress just enough for it to zip at the top! She did an amazing Job! You could not even tell! She also put in a gorgeous bustle that was quick and easy to do on the wedding day! All and all, I would recommend Marti to anyone looking to get anything altered!

Horrible service. Very rude seamstress and customer service is a joke. If you need further evidence just look at the owners response to anything less than a glowing review. Their prices are easily double what everyone else is charging and they act like they are doing you a favor to lower themselves to speak with you. I personally will be recommending to everyone I know to avoid doing business here.
