Tuxedo rental and suit rentals are a newer service provided by Akims. Much less expensive than any other tuxedo rental store around the area. Many tuxedo options as well as suits, ties, vests, shoes, shirts, etc.

I recently had my wedding gown alterations all done at Akim’s. Not only was the work great but in an extremely efficient manner. I have been to many tailors throughout the state and noone compares to them. Only required one fitting even with all the intricate beading and alterations that had to be done. Cant thank them enough.

I am so happy with my alterations on my dress for my sons wedding! I've taken my business to Akim's for years and even though I live in Florida, I came back to RI to have the dress altered. I'm very happy with the results! Also just wanted to comment on the review in regards to the wedding dress issue. I was there that day and heard the whole conversation and I heard Akim say very nicely that he wouldn't feel comfortable with taking this job. This, in my opinion, was the professional thing to do.

There was some confusion as to what I asked to be done and when I received a call informing me the price would be higher, I wasn't happy, but Akim's made it right and comped me the work on the shirt. That's more than I would have expected and good business. I appreciate that in a business.

Great service. I wear suits everyday for work and let's just say I don't buy cheep Walmart suits. My shirts cost anywhere between $150 and $200 a peace. Now why am I tell you this, well it so you understand that I live in Massachusetts and I drive all the way here to have all my dry cleaning done along with alterations preformed on all my items. They are the only ones I trust to touch my cloths. If you haven't yet I recommend giving them a try.

One of the better tailors I’ve been to in RI. Conveniently located off Putnam Pike, this family owned shop goes to extreme lengths to make sure you are satisfied with any alteration in a timely manner. I highly recommend Akim’s to anyone needing their pants or shirts altered.

I was looking for someone to alter my wedding dress and Akims came up when I was looking for recommendation. The customer service was great& every single person that I spoke to there gave nothing but great service and for that reason and pricing they deserve a 5 star. However, I am giving it the three stars because of the my dress actually came out, which is what reviews are for anyways. I picked up my dress and was so excited to try it on, but did not end up doing so there due to the fact that it was closing time and I did not want hold up anyone. I went home, tried on the dress and found it a bit shorter than I wanted it, however, not enough for me to be upset about it but then as looked at my dress, and took a closer look realized that my dress was missing SOO many beads (my dress has a lot of beading all over, however, they are strands of beads so if one falls out all of them will fall out) and not only that, the stitching in the bottom of it was a bit sloppy and the strings a bit loose and I had to sit hand-tie them myself. Needless to say, that I’m not satisfied with the work. I didn’t call, because at this point there’s absolutely nothing they can do because my wedding is 2 weeks. This place might be great for suits, everyday wear & some wedding gowns but I would not recommend for beaded gowns.

I recently had major alterations done on 3 of my suits. Even with the amount of work that was needed, Akims got it done in a timely manner. There quality of work is second to none. Highly recommend to all!

My sister came here looking to get her wedding dress tailored. The owner consultated with her and gave her an estimate and told her to come back when she was ready to have it fitted. The owners went on vacation that week so my sister waited until the weekend after to come back. While pinning the dress my sister tried to explain in the best way she could on how she wanted the sleeves to be done. He stopped her and said he couldn’t do her dress and asked her to leave! It was clear that he didn’t agree with her, and in all fairness he might not have been able to do it that way, but he could have simply explained why and offer her another solution instead. You know, simple basic customer service. She politely asked if there was anything else they could do but he insisted he could not and continued to ask her to leave. He left her crying in awe! Her wedding is only 3 weeks away! Not only is she left heartbroken but she now has to start all over to find someone to fit her dress. Customers beware! Very unprofessional and would not take any ownership for customer dissatisfaction. Save yourself the stress and take your business elsewhere.

I would never recommend this facility to anyone . The owner is rude, disrespectful and condescending. I have never been treated like this before in my life! I will definitely spread the word to never do business with Akims tailoring. It is amazing that they are still in business . There is no reason to be rude to a customer.

Akim’s is a very well run professional family business. I always brought all my prom dresses and miscellaneous alterations here and they never fail to exceed expectations. The family is so welcoming and friendly to each customer. I highly recommend this tailor/dry cleaners!

Akim's is family owned and operated, and the service is top notch. I had a men's vest altered to fit me (a female), and he was able to take it in in the waist and shoulders, and add bust darts to make it more feminine looking. It was a lot of work, so it ended up being about $80, but I love that vest now and I wear it all the time. I've also gotten pants hemmed and such, and it's always done right.

I cannot recommend Akim's Tailoring more! I came to him a week before my wedding day with an ill fitting wedding dress! My dress was backless and tricky to work with. I had been to several other places, none of which did the job right. Within days, Akim had my dress fitting perfectly! They clearly take pride in their work, are professional, responsive, and fairly priced. I will be going to Akim's for all my tailoring needs!

I am very disappointed in the service I received at Akim's. So disappointed in fact that I am writing this 2 minutes after I walked in the door. I dropped my bridesmaid dress of at this establishment for a hem (which in my opinion was way overpriced) and asked them to save the extra fabric so that flowers could be wrapped in it. Whoever wrote me up made a note of it on the slip. I went to pick the dress and fabric up today and even though it was noted on BOTH the receipt at the store and my pickup receipt the fabric was NOWHERE to be found and I didn't even receive a discount to make up for the mistake. I will NOT be going there for services anymore.
