Oleksandra is phenomenal and such a sweet lady! I just picked up my wedding gown, after dropping it off with her on Saturday, and am so thrilled with the work she did! It took her 4 days to have my dress ready! She has been doing alterations for 18 years and it shows with her work. She is reasonably priced and will even see you on the weekend or in the evenings. She works from her own studio at her house, which I loved. You will NOT go wrong with her and she will be honest with you about what you need or don't need. Oleksandra used applique from another part of my dress to fill in the gap between my breasts, she raised up the sleeves to make them 3/4 length, and she braved the many layers to accommodate my wish to wear flats on my wedding day. Her home-based alterations studio (which is spotless and impeccably neat) allowed me to have a wonderful and comfortable wedding dress fitting without being bothered with strangers or other patrons. Oleksandra is fantastic!! I just picked up my wedding dress from her this week. It only took a couple weeks for her to do the alterations, the price was good, and she did a beautiful job!! I have a rather poofy wedding gown. I needed some of the cleavage sewn up, as well as a bustle, shortened sleeves, and some length taken off so I wouldn’t trip in it. There was a lot of work that needed to be done since the dress has so many layers. When I tried it on, it fit me flawlessly! I was so excited- I got that same joy that I had when I first found the dress in the store. She even saved some of the extra fabric scraps for me in case I wanted them for my bouquet! During my fitting, her and I had great conversations about her culture and what it was like for her moving to the US. Since I needed a lot of fabric pinned and I needed to stand still for a long time, she kept checking to make sure I didn’t need a break to sit down and have some tea. She was very sweet and accommodating. I definitely recommend her! :)

Oleksandra is very professional, considerate, and welcoming. Over the years I’ve never experienced someone, who was so accurate on making sure a special occasion gown would fit properly. Not only did she alter the bodice of my daughter’s dress, which was heavily beaded, but she also hemmed the skirt as well. She also created a bussel for the train of her gown to be buttoned up while dancing and such. While she was pinning and preparing her gown, we talked like we had known each other forever! I had a simple dress for a beach wedding and had wanted a few alterations. She was very rude from the beginning. No greeting at the door (I had thought I had the wrong address) She pointed and grunted to the stairs and it took me a minute to realize she wanted me to go upstairs. It was awkward and uncomfortable- but, after a few more grunts, pointing and sharp remarks I was lead through a very uncomfortable fitting. I felt like I was intruding and she was absolutely not happy about our appointment or had completely felt burnt out about sewing??? I was so shocked and surprised about her behavior, I didn’t have the words to say anything and felt intimidated. Isn’t a wedding fitting supposed to be joyous and memorable? She made snide comments about how my dress would cost more to alter than I’d actually paid- which was my prerogative, not hers. Well... after all of that, I ended up picking up my dress the next day. I felt so upset and confused by my experience with her. Needless to say the pick up was just as awkward. I remained polite and gracious and I doubt she knew nor cared about why I changed my mind on having the alterations. I’m confused by all the “good” reviews and can’t imagine that this was a one time experience. I hope for the sake of others it was.

Amazing. My daughter wanted to wear her grandmother's wedding dress from the 1950s. Only problem, it was too long in the torso. I had one seamstress try to refit the dress and it was awful. Then we found Oleksandra. She had to completely remove the skirt, with antique lace and three layers of crinolines and remake the entire dress. Less than two weeks later, the dress was perfect. I was sure I was going to have to buy a new wedding dress, but no! My daughter's dress is perfect and Oleksandra is a complete artist!!
