Very disappointed and will not be back. I emailed a photo of a dress I needed taken in and was told ball park $12-$14 without looking at it so I was expecting it to be more once they saw it. So I go in and try it on, they are going to take in sides, arm and shoulders and she told me $20 which was fine, then she realized there was a pocket so said that would be $8 more to move the pocket - fine again. I get my ticket showing I would owe $30 which I thought was fair. Sharon calls me the day before I am to pick it up to say the shoulders were pinned and did they need taking up because they weren't on the ticket? I said yes, sides, sleeves, shoulders - not sure why they weren't on the ticket but they weren't. I go to pick it up the next day and it's $48. yes, $48. She did drop it to $45 but had I known I was going to go from $14 to $48 I would never have had the dress altered. I paid more for the alterations than the dress. incredibly disappointed, did not get an explanation, barely got eye contact and acknowledgement and I am not normally a complainer - I don't know that I have ever done this but this required some complaints so other people don't get surprised like I did.

Overall a good experience. I dropped by around 10:25 on a weekday, as their hours posted were opening at 10. The door was locked. I tried calling the number on the door and it said the voicemail was full. I tried calling again that afternoon. I mentioned what happened, she didn't apologize but assured me they would be open til 6. I came back and they were open. The woman I interacted with was professional and friendly. Their notification method is good, you supply your email and they message you when its ready. Pickup went fine as well, and I'm satisfied with my tailored shirt. Bumpy start but I'm overall I'm satisfied. If your time is precious, I'd recommend calling to make sure they are open before you stop by. I'll be going back, as this place is super convenient for me.

I had not used unique tailor before today. I had procrastinated getting a suit taken in for a work trip coming up and Sharon was able to get it done the day before. She is amazing and I will continue to use unique tailor for anything else I need altered in the future.

She did an amazing job altering my wedding dress on a tight turnaround (2 weeks!) This included replacing a large piece of lace on one of the that had frayed. She made the replacement almost invisible. HIGHLY recommend!

Unique Tailor did a fantastic job with alterations for my wedding dress. Sharon went above and beyond to take care of me from start to finish. I had several alterations that needed to be done and every visit was exceptional. She never rushed me out the door, never took the easy way out, but made sure everything was done the right way. She also was able to do everything I needed quickly and extremely well. I can't say enough how much I appreciate Unique Tailoring and the wonderful service they provided for me to make my wedding special. On top of all of that, her prices were extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend this place for any kind of tailoring need or alteration. I know they will take great care of you.

Sharon created our daughter's beautiful wedding dress from scratch, based on a few pictures & measurements. She used the very fragile lace from my dress, which was also my mother's, and brought my daughter's dream to life! Amazing! She's very sweet to work with, and reasonably priced also. Be sure to talk with Sharon directly, be explicit about your timetable, and double check appt times ahead. She's a busy lady, and with good reason! What a seamstress!

Finally a real tailor in Raleigh!! I come from a line of tailors and when I need some tailoring done I am usually disappointed. Perhaps my expectations are too high?! I purchased a wedding dress. It was a 2x. I needed it to be a size 4. I did my research online, read good reviews about Unique Tailor and decided to give them a try. They did NOT disappoint me. I could immediately tell she knew what she was doing the way she started pinning me. Sharon cut the dress down to my size and in a very timely fashion. She had less than a week to accomplish this. Sharon was friendly, professional and did an excellent job. The dress fit great!!! and I was a beautiful bride. I asked her about replacing a zipper in a cocktail dress that I have. I have been told by many tailor shops that I would have to bring my own zipper (now what is that about?) If I could purchase my own, I could probably install it!! Sharon at Unique Tailor told me not to worry, to bring the dress in and she would take care of the zipper. I consider this shop to be a true find. Unique Tailor is truly a tailor shop in every sense of the word. If you have had a bad alteration experience, and I have had plenty, you know what I am talking about They will be taking care of ALL of my tailoring needs from now on! Go Sharon!! Sharon was very friendly and my wedding dress turned out perfect! I was worried about getting a ballroom bustle ( because everyone on the internet said they're super expensive and complicated) but I was astonished when she told me the price for getting an 11 point bustle and getting the sides taken in a little. They even gave me a cute embroidered handkerchief with my future last name, our wedding date, and in our wedding colors as a little gift. How sweet! Definitely impressed and will recommend to my friends.

Unique Tailor saved the day!! I pulled my husbands suit out of storage for a big interview he has on Thursday and found that it had a rip in the pants. The ladies at unique tailor were able to fix the rip, get out a stain, and steam the suit all in a day! Sharon was an absolute pleasure to work with. She worked with my schedule and the online booking made it super easy to book and change appointments as my schedule changes frequently. Sharon has 2 locations which also makes booking more flexible depending on where you are located. Sharon pointed out things that I wouldn’t have noticed and asked questions about our venue and if we were getting married inside or outside and the type of flooring. I would have never thought about little details like that, but this is to make sure your dress is altered properly. My dress was altered in a timely fashion and she was even willing to make me a video to show my maid of honor how to bustle my dress! Don’t look anywhere else for alteration needs- Sharon is your one stop shop!

Sharon and the staff at Unique Tailor are amazing. I have never been to a tailor before but needed to have my wedding dress altered. From the very first visit, Sharon was warm and friendly. For someone who has never been to a tailor I knew she was going to be amazing. She was able to hem my dress and make the most beautiful bustle that was a combination of French and American. I only had to go in 3 visits and my dress was complete. I could not help but to smile from ear to ear. The price was more than reasonable for the work that she and her team did. I will definitely be using the services here again. I have recommended all of my friends and my future mother in law absolutely loved Sharon. Sharon altered my wedding dress and she did an Amazing job! I bought the dress off the rack at a bridal store. It was a few sizes too big and Literally a foot too long! It was made for a giant. We had no idea what the original dress was supposed to look like. It was basically a huge bundle of fabric and I said "Can you make this into a dress for me?" I brought Sharon pictures of other dress styles for inspiration; and she worked to create a beautiful, flattering, wedding dress! Sharon is extremely talented and has a keen eye for design. I would recommend her to anyone needing alterations!

Great experience with having my wedding dress tailored here. I was nervous to have my wedding dress tailored by a place that didn't sell dresses in particular, but everything came out perfectly! The dress was tailored so that you couldn't even tell it had been shortened and the bust was tailored to my size to that there was no excess material and it fit very well. Sharon (the tailor) was very knowledgeable and took the time to make sure everything looked right. She also made a beautiful and subtle bustle for my long train that made it easy to move around after the ceremony. She even gave me a handkerchief embroidered in blue with the initials of me and my fiance so I would have something blue to wear for my wedding. They also steamed all the wrinkles out of my dress so it looked great for my pictures. Working with Sharon was very comfortable and I was very impressed with her skill and happy with the results of the alterations. She also has a digital appointment reminder system that was great for keeping our appointments in my schedule and reminding me of upcoming appointments.

Sharon at Unique Tailor is AMAZING---genuine, patient, and a highly capable seamstress. Here's my crazy story: I was very lucky to win a free wedding dress through an online retailer. While I loved my dress, when it arrived, it clearly had not been "made to my measurements" as advertised and needed MAJOR alterations. A free wedding dress was way too good of a deal to pass up for a bride on a serious budget, and the design was really lovely in theory. But it seemed to have some minor problem in every imaginable area---generally too big, boning too high causing the hip seams to wrinkle, sash weirdly wide, flower weirdly giant, skirt way more poofy than expected, back too straight across the shoulder blades causing the skin to bunch unflatteringly...you name it, this dress had an issue. I was so anxious and sad that I would be unhappy with the way I looked on my wedding day. To complicate matters, since the dress was from a discount seller, the satin and tulle fabrics were definitely not top-of-the-line quality and were very challenging to work with. To give other brides an idea of what she accomplished... Sharon took in the hips by at least four inches, which required that she remove a corresponding amount of fabric from the skirt. This, in turn, caused her to need to reset the hem to adjust to the loss of skirt fabric. The hem is scalloped lace, and she did this with NO loss of detailing at the hem. She also took in the waist and bust as well. Through all these adjustments, the dress didn't lose any of its shape or the pleating detail. She narrowed the waist sash, shrank the flower detail on the sash, and lowered the back into a v-shape. She removed a layer of tulle from the skirt at my request to "deflate it" into a slim a-line shape, and made a three point-bustle that required separate bustling of the satin underskirt and tulle outer layers. When it was done, I had my long-awaited dress moment and teared up looking at myself in the mirror! My dress is gorgeous, and makes me feel amazing. Sharon was so patient with my perfectionism and delivered the dress of my dreams from a hot mess for an unbelievable price. At the end, she spot-cleaned and steamed my dress to assure that it was good as new---way better than new. This review might read a bit over-the-top, but I seriously cannot believe how Sharon transformed my wedding dress. I would recommend her to ANYONE. And, she has successfully taken in a beautiful little Banana Republic sheath dress for me and hemmed several pairs of pants for my fiance. I go to her with basic mending, new zippers, everything. Great work every time! And if you're not happy, let her know, and she'll adjust it for you right there in the shop.

I had an emergency for a funeral, one of those deals where I was already late when I woke up that morning. I called in to explain my situation, and they assured me they would do the alterations while I waited. They got started on it as soon as I walked in the door and I was out of there 45 minutes later. That is service! I will use them for any work I have in the future.

I bought my wedding gown from a website without ever trying it on. All I could do was hope and pray that it would fit while it was shipping because I had had a horrible experience with a tailor at a nearby mall and I really didn't want to go through that again with something as important as my wedding gown. I looked up Unique Tailors online and was impressed by the reviews I read. I immediately made an appointment with Sharon and was blown away with how amazing she is! She took one look at me in the gown and knew exactly what needed to be done and the best way to fix it. My gown is nothing but lace and beads making it incredibly hard to figure out how to make it shorter without loosing all of the beads. Sharon was able to save the beading, save the gorgeous lace and still take it in where it needed to. She fixed the scalloped neckline and added extra boning. She even noticed that the buttons to hold my train looked weird and completely rearranged them to make them look elegant like the rest of the gown. I could go on and on about how great my experience was. I highly recommend her. I'll be back for sure!

This is the best tailor I have seen in years! I brought in a tshirt that I wanted to customize in a very unique way. She not only worked with me but helped me design it even better. I love the shirt and have received many compliments on it!!! I also brought in all my jeans to have them fixed and now I feel like I have a new wardrobe of pants. Absolutely fantastic!

I have had the best experience with all the staff here at unique tailor! I came in with about a month until my wedding and they never made me feel like I didn't have enough time. I had a top remade with my mother's lace from her wedding gown. I even made a couple last minute adjustments and they were always very sweet and professional. I could trust they would have it done and looking great in time. My husband had his tux hemmed at unique tailor. They are very knowledgeable and fast. Also the pricing is more than fair it almost seems inexpensive for the fast turnaround and quality of work.

A brides worst alterations experience! I will start by saying that my experience with Sharon at Unique Tailor was great at first! She was very sweet and I put my complete faith in her to complete the alterations on my wedding gown. Over one year later and my nightmare experience with this place is finally over. The day of my wedding, the stitching on part of the bottom of my dress came completely undone, and when my bridesmaids tried to fix it, they discovered pins left in the bottom of my dress. And nobody was able to figure out how to properly bustle because I never got instructions from Sharon on how to do this. We ended up having to safety pin the bottom of my dress. When I brought my dress back to her after the wedding and told her of what happened, she apologized and offered a partial refund and to have my dress preserved for me. I agreed and she took my dress. Over the course of the past year, I had repeatedly called Sharon to get an update on when I would get my dress back (I was moving out of state, it had been 6 months that she had my dress at this point). When I did the research and looked to see how long preservation takes, I realized that it does not take even close to 6 months to complete. Every time I would call, I would get no explanation from Sharon, only excuses and a promise that it would be done soon. It took over a year (14 months) for me to finally get my dress back. There was never during this entire time, an explanation of what was taking so long and I had an unsettling feeling that something bad had happened to my dress and I would not get it back. No apology, no note, no explanation of what happened, no refund. This whole process was extremely emotional for me and I am honestly not even sure if the dress that I got back is even mine. I am so so disappointed that this was my experience and hope this review will prevent this from happening to other brides.

The only thing unique about this place is the horrible customer service. I dropped off a bridesmaids dress on September 15th, it was a floor length dress with two layers. It need to be hemmed a few inches and taken in. The person I met with was very nice, pinned the dress and marked the hem, she gave me a receipt with the price and the date that it would be ready which was September 25th. I realized on the 25th that I wouldn’t make it so I called that afternoon and told them I would be there on the 26th, the person on the phone said that was fine and that they had a question about an inch of one of the layers of the hem, and they would have me try it on and see what it looked like. The next day I was given the dress to try on, one side had been taken in only the interior layer, nothing done to the hem. I was surprised and asked why nothing more had been done I was told “oh we weren’t sure if you wanted both layers taken in or hemmed”, I explained my confusion since both layers were pinned and both layers of the hem had been marked. She also was confused about hemming the dress because there was a pattern on it?? I didn’t go to tailor school, but I’m pretty sure patterns aren’t added to clothing after they’re made. She claimed I had been called and someone had explained the situation, which I had not, something minimal was mentioned when I called them. Frustrated I just explained that I absolutely needed the dress the following Tuesday, October 4th. Since I wasn’t given a receipt I called the next day to confirm. The person I met with the day before told me it was being worked on but she COULDN’T confirm that it would be ready by the following Tuesday (October 5th), she became irritated and told me they were they were behind because they couldn’t figure out the notes on the dress from the 15th and the person who wrote them was out sick, no one bothered to call me or the person who took the notes. I told her it was unacceptable (they had the dress for 2 weeks) and I needed the dress Tuesday, I was suppose to have it a week before and I would need to pick it up if it couldn’t be completed. She angrily told me that it would be finished. I still didn't feel confident that the dress would be ready so I called back to ask to speak to a manger, she claimed she was the manager, I explained my frustrations on the situation. She screamed back at me that I misunderstood the original phone call (I guess she was referencing the call I made to them) and that she had now told me 3 times the dress would be ready, and yelled what more do you want? Um maybe a little decent customer service? I replied “Literally 5 minutes ago you told me you could not guarantee that it would be ready on the 4th”, she yelled back “you have 2 options you can come get the dress, or you can come on Tuesday and be done with it”. I would have loved to have taken the dress somewhere else at that point but I didn’t have time because they wasted it all. I told her I would be there Tuesday and she slammed the phone down. Nice! I picked the dress up today, I paid, they didn’t even have me try it on, I asked to use a dressing room, tried it on to make sure something had been altered, luckily it had. Unique Tailor has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced, unless you’ve got time to waste, and want to be yelled at, do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.

I had such a wonderful experience getting my wedding dress altered at unique tailor. Sharon did a phenomenal job on my gown and was do kind, accommodating, and patient. From the first appointment I knew her attention to detail and meticulous inspection of my dress would make for a fabulous end product. She was also very affordable compared to a other alteration shop I visited as well-by a few hundred dollars. Her appointment system is very convenient as well they email you and add a event to your calendar so your phone will alert you of your fitting time. She even gave me a beautiful custom handkerchief as a wedding present! Can't recommend unique tailor enough!
