I'm disappointed because they're very nice and have quick turnarounds but, simply put, the shop ruined my wedding dress, resulting in a small fortune in repairs or Christ knows how much for a replacement because I now have just two weeks before the day.
My fiancé and I decided to save ourselves money and stress by eloping, so I found a beautiful dress on a going out of business clearance ($40, down from $600+) and took it in for alterations. I'm an hourglass so I'm used to having just about everything tailored to fit. Said I wanted the bust, waist, and hips let out, then refit-to-measure. Came back as scheduled. Not only was half the work on the order not done, but the seam had been let out only on a very small portion of one side of the bust and then TAKEN BACK IN without refitting, compromising the bias and altering the shape.
Now the dress is not only over a full size smaller in all the wrong places, but gaping in others and uneven overall. The shop wanted an additional $70 to make further alterations- that would further completely change the dress, mind you- all after arguing ad nauseam with me that it needs XYZ when I specifically requested ABC.
After bringing the dress home to further inspect, the lining and fabric were hacked apart and piece-mealed back together. The damage is beyond family and friends' expertise so the dress is currently at a specialist across the Metro, being deconstructed to assess whether or not it can be salvaged or if the seams have been fully compromised/ too much fabric removed. All over a very simple request to let the seams out, then refit.
IF the dress can be fixed, it will mean reconstructing and possibly having to add new panels of fabric that doesn't match the original just to make room. If it cannot be fixed, I'll have a week to find and alter a new wedding dress. All in all, a $140 quote is turning into upwards of $300 emergency repairs, or at least $1,000 for a comparable dress in the short time left.
While the initial consultation and visit was pleasant, the results have been an unexpected disaster. I now have to take days out of my schedule to fix this issue, find money we don't have to spend, or get married in something from my closet.
Severely disappointed and cannot recommend for wedding or formal alterations. Maybe better for pret a porter and everyday pieces, but I've only had this experience so I can't definitively say. Unfortunately won't be returning.
