We have used Ann’s Alterations in the Cloverleaf Plaza Shopping Center for years. Ten days ago I took them one of Nova’s service dog saddlebags to have the patches sewn on. I was there nearly an hour working with her regarding where the sewing machine foot could fit to keep the patches visible.
I picked it up today.
The lady who handles all the customers gave me the bag. Immediately I realized it was completely wrong. I asked her why she had sewn the patches onto the BACK of the bag. She began yelling the word NO at me over and over saying that’s how I had her pin them on. I asked her why in the world would I have them sewn on the back. Further, I recanted the conversation we had about the small front pocket needing to be sewn shut due to the patch placement as well as the need to remove the Velcro on the front so the bag and patch would not be too thick to sew. I also asked why the top patches were not sewn lower so the patch curved over the top edge for maximum visibility. She began yelling again that she had not moved the pins at all. I asked how she centered them and got the small bag up under the foot of the sewing machine if she didn’t remove the pins. She became even more agitated and grabbed the other saddlebag and patches. I took them back and told her I’d take them somewhere with integrity—someone who is honest. I asked for my money back. She really got angry then! She said that I’d not get my $28 back. I told her $28 is A LOT for someone on disability. All she had to do was offer to fix it. Instead, she said, “I don’t care. You can not make me give money back. You can not do anything for it.” I believe she meant “about it.”
Well, um, yes there is a lot I can do about it and this post is one of them. Sadly, I am going to need a new seamstress. I am beside myself that a long-time customer who frequents quite regularly was treated with such disdain.
