Came in to get my bridesmaid dress altered in which I initially thought was a size bigger for me. Mansureh took me to her fitting room and had me wear the dress, and when she came to see me in the dress, she said that it was a perfect fit and does not need any alterations at all. She helped me appreciate and see how the dress fits me well and that it doesn't need to be altered. It's very refreshing to see people who are honest and passionate about with what they do and sincerely wants what's best for their client. It's not just about the money, it's about making your client happy. I would definitely return for future alterations.

I do not usually do reviews because generally it's not worth my time, however this woman is an absolute Angel! I got an amzing wedding dress from David's bridal and needed a few alterations. I really wanted the train taken off due to the weight and it was hard to move in. They refused to take the train off and were going to charge me nearly 300.00 for very small alterations... On top of the fact that they were rude as he'll and wouldn't work with my schedule. I came here and she was able to do everything I wanted including sewing in cups just so I don't have to try to find a bra. No one would ever guess that there was ever a train even on the dress! It fits like a glove and I am blown away. On top of the amazing work, she gave me all the extra dress material that was taken off for my own use, and gave me a bag of fresh organic peaches from her own peach tree! An angel in disguise! I am overjoyed that I went with this wonderful woman for my wedding dress alterations. She’s been at it longer than I’ve been alive, and it shows in the ease in witch she approaches things. My dress is an embroidered and lacy pull over type deal. My wedding is relaxed and smaller so I was happy with the dress I found and figured I’d pay more in alterations than for it. I was right, but I had no idea how good the dress could look! She problem solved bringing the waist in despite the way the embroidery lays presenting some challenge, and also made a great suggestion of slimming down and shortening the sleeves. I never would have thought of the latter as I’m not much for fashion, but holy cow did it make a difference in fit. When you come to her please remember that youre not paying for the labor of changing a piece of clothing, youre paying for 30+ years of cumulative experiance. Your paying for someone who wont cut corners and will alter your clothing the RIGHT way. That is truly invaluable. Plus, you are supporting a wonderful woman with a small local business. I could not be more satisfied with my dress and encourage you to choose Mansureh for your wedding dress alterations.

I called Mansurah after a friend recommended her. She got me in quickly for the measurements. My dress needed a lot of alterations! It was a size too big and six inches too long. She added in a corset back. My dress has many flowy layers that she had to unstich to shorten and stitch back in. I went back to pick it up and it was 100% absolutely perfect!!!! I heard about Mansureh from another very happy customer. She was quick to respond to my request for a fitting, and performed magic on my wedding gown! To make a long story short, she deconstructed by gown and reconstructed it to have a removable train in lieu of bustling. The dress looks AMAZING, and you would never be able to tell that it wasn't designed that way. Instead of cutting, she removed multiple lace flower appliques and re-stitched them back to the dress after reconstruction of the skirt. I can't imagine anyone doing a better job, or paying more attention to the details. Mansureh herself is very warm and caring - and has many stories to tell! Her shop is her home, and she welcomes you into it - but be warned: I wouldn't plan on taking my entire bridal party to a fitting here. A few people is fine, but please be respectful of her space. Overall, visiting Mansureh was a calming, joyful, welcoming experience that I would recommend to any bride trying to get away from the hectic, rushed attitude prevalent in most of the wedding industry.

Wedding gowns or bridesmaid dresses altered to perfection and very affordable! My sister and I have both had our wedding dresses altered by Mansureh as well as bridesmaid dresses! Each time I have been there I have been welcomed into a beautiful, warm, well-kept home and my dresses have always been altered perfectly and in a timely manner (I recently had a bridesmaid dress completely altered in less than a week!). Her prices are extremely competitive because she works out of her home and saves money by not having to rent space in the middle of town. She has done this work for many years and has worked with celebrities in the past. She is an artist and enjoys making stunning gowns for women. She is absolutely the best and most affordable choice to make in Albuquerque. Tips before going: 1. Wear slip on shoes or easy to remove shoes at the door. 2. Always bring the shoes you are going to wear with the dress and make sure they are clean! She has multiple beautiful handmade rugs throughout her home that don't like dirty shoes on them. 3. No men allowed inside so leave your guy at home if you don't want him sitting in the car waiting for you.

My friend ordered a bridesmaid's dress for me, and when it arrived to my house 10 days before the wedding, it was about 2 sizes (at least) TOO SMALL. I couldn't zip it closed in the back, by several inches. There was obviously no time to try and order a larger size. Even though the construction of the dress was complicated with multiple layers and multiple types of fabric, Mansureh came to the rescue. To look at the outside of the dress, you would never know it had been taken apart completely and rebuilt. I highly recommend Mansureh for challenging, time sensitive jobs. Thank you Mansureh!

Mansureh does high quality work at a short notice. She took in a bridesmaid dress for me. I had to order a large size being that I'm pregnant. She had me wait till a week before the wedding since she knew I would keep growing. Dress was perfect, with a perfect fit. Price is high because work is high quality.

Mansureh did such a wonderful job with my dress! She definitely knows what she’s doing and has a great eye for what looks best on each particular dress. Cost was way higher than I expected but she worked with me on the price/offered a small military discount when I asked a which was very kind. My dress also required more work than most since I wanted the huge train gone, I’m sure it would cost less for more simple work. I wouldn’t have wanted to leave my dress in anyone else’s hands though, can’t wait to wear it next month!! :)

I truly do not have enough words to express the impeccable quality of work that Mansureh provides. I was measured incorrectly for my wedding dress and the dress that was supposed to be "custom made" for body was two inches too big, two inches too long, and four inches too big in the bust. Mansureh essentially remade my dress in less than two weeks and it fits me perfectly, bust, waist, and length. And she did it all with only one fitting on delicate lace and silk organza. I purchased my wedding dress from Nicole's Boutique in Albuquerque but they were closing and so they had a limited size selection. Knowing that I would need alterations to drop the dress down to my size, we asked Nicole if she had any recommendations and without hesitation she said that we should go to Mansureh. At my first fitting I was a little nervous because the store I purchased the dress from clamped the dress to show a mermaid-like fit, which is what I had originally fallen in love with, and Mansureh said that was wrong and that it was designed to be an A-line dress. While I saw that she was right, I had to come to terms with the dress not being the shape I had in my head. Mansureh assured me that if I kept the gown in its A-line style it would be a beautiful gown with no awkward creases where they shouldn't be. I decided to trust Mansureh's experienced opinion and I do not regret it. I got my dress back last week and it fits perfectly--she modified my top to a sweetheart neckline and brought it down to the correct size for a very reasonable price and in only about a week and a half. She also does alterations as close to the wedding day as possible to ensure an accurate fit to your size on your wedding day. Do not be dissuaded by the fact that she works from home. She is very professional, has a lot of experience and was overall great to work with!

Mansureh is an incredibly talented seamstress, and Albuquerque is lucky to have her! I bought my dress on a preowned wedding dress website from a woman who hadn't worn it for her wedding, but had bought it as a sample - needless to say, it must have been tried on a million times, because it had several tears in the very delicate fabric, the lace was stretched out and peppered with holes, and the buttons had completely fallen off. It also was a couple sizes too big for me and too long, and the way the lace was at the bottom required it to be shortened from the waist, not just hemmed. I brought it to Mansureh thinking it was a lost cause, and to my surprise she told me she'd be able to fix it, make it fit me, and even add a sweetheart neckline. After she was done altering and repairing it, it seriously looked like a brand new dress! The tears were gone and the several imperfections in the lace had disappeared. She even went above and beyond and made some serious last minute alterations. Considering the shape the dress was in when I brought it to her, how delicate the lace and satin fabric were, and also that it is not a typical wedding gown - I couldn't have asked for a more capable seamstress. It ended up being the most beautiful dress I will probably ever wear, and I got so many compliments on the wedding day. Thank you, Mansureh!

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience! I live in Chicago and had a destination wedding in Santa Fe. Unfortunately, when I arrived in Albuquerque to pick up my dress after the "final alterations" it was ruined. The top of the dress did not fit at all and they had somehow distroyed the shape of the sweetheart top (the word lumpy is a good description). I only had 4 days until the wedding and immediately knew I needed to find another seamstress because the one I had used obviously was not going to work. I found Seams and Sew On through reviews and when I called I was seen right away. The dress was fixed and PERFECT in ONLY 3 DAYS!!! I was not charged until the work was complete and to my satisfaction and the service was outstanding!!! On top of all this, the price was very reasonable! I couldn't believe my luck, Seams and Sew On is a gem, I've never had such an outstanding experience when getting alterations.

Mansureh did an incredible job on my wedding gown alteration. I broke my leg less than 3 months before my wedding, so needless to say my workout regime to fit into my already purchased dress did not go as planned! She was able to let out a dress that didn't have enough extra material to let out and move some of the embroidered flowers off the dress onto the sleeves that needed to be extended. I bought my dress for $35 from Goodwill, and it had potential, but was old, had horrible yellowing stains in the front and the under petticoat had to be completely taken out and new lining sewn in, among many other little repairs and alterations. In the words of Mansureh, the dress was "rags" when I brought it to her. But she managed to turn it into a beautiful gown! She did it all FAST and for a very generous rate. I was weaing my grandmothers 60 year old wedding dress and so you can imagine how nervous I was leaving it with someone. However after one consultation at Mansureh's house my nerves were completely relieved. She has so much experience and her confidence in knowing she does a great job made leaving my heirloom gown with her so much easier. She also suggested to me teh dry cleaner to take my dress to who also did a wonderful job. When I needed to have a new apparel trim put onto my wedding gown she met me at the fabric store to help pick out the perfect kind. My alterations were done so well the dress truly looks like it was made to fit me. On top of all of this she also suggested to me to get a peticoat online as it is much cheaper. She altered it free of charge for me. She did not charge me an arm and a leg and I will forever be a customer. I was recommended to work with Mansureh because of her experience and expertise with bridal alterations. I have had a wonderful experience working with her. My wedding dress was 8 inches too long and she was able to save all of the embroidery and beading on the top and bottom of my wedding dress by removing about 8 inches of fabric from the middle. She also made the accordion pleated train into a removable piece so that my dress would be 7 pounds lighter when dancing at the reception. Mansureh's attention to details and work is amazing- she is even hand sewing beading to cover up the front seam from alterations. Mansureh is a goddess amongst seamstresses! I brought her a Tara Keely 2958 wedding dress and she had it fitting like a glove in only one week! The gown has boning and four (count 'em, FOUR) layers of fabric, including one of heavy lace. Because of the weight I lost she had to take the dress in about 6" at the waist, add a bustle, shorten the length and add cups to the top - all in seven days so that I could take my dress with me when I flew home for my wedding. She was polite, honest, knowledgeable and incredibly skilled. Don't let the fact that she works from her home fool you - Mansureh is fantastic! I will never take my tailoring needs anywhere else :)

Taking my dress to Mansureh was the best decision I made with my dress! She knew exactly how to take it in so that the dress fit perfectly! Since I bought it two sizes too big (the only one they had), it was a challenge, but she gracefully altered it to a T. I went to Mansureh with my mom's 26-year-old wedding dress. The shoulder pads were bigger than my head and it needed a lot of work. Mansureh already knew what would work best the day I met her. Mansureh is not only an amazing seamstress, she is an artist. Drawing upon her fashion background she has an intimate understanding and appreciation of clothing design. Although my dress was somewhat simple looking on the outside, a J.Crew cotton/silk blend strapless mermaid gown with no lace, tulle, or beading, it was about a foot too long and due to the complexities of the construction underneath, I thought we would simply have to shorten from the bottom. Mansureh applied her expert eye and was able to shorten from the middle, basically reconstructing the entire dress and maintaining the full length of the mermaid portion. It turned out beautiful and her prices were so reasonable! She takes pride in her work – your dress isn’t just being cranked through an alteration mill, she applies love and care. I would HIGHLY recommend Mansureh and would use her again in a heartbeat. I'm so happy with my dress.

I bought two custom tailored suits from Jo. A. Bank. One of the suits was for my upcoming wedding. When the suits came back, they didn't fit right at all. I was extremely disappointed to have spent so much on two suits and have them fit that poorly. The in house tailor said that there was nothing else that could be done, and that this was as good as it was going to get. I took both suits to Mansureh, and she knew what to do right away. Since my wedding was in just a couple of days, she fixed the wedding suit overnight and I was shocked at how well the suit fit. I can't tell you how relieved I was and how surprised I was at how well the suit fit. It looked like it had been custom made for me. She is by far the best tailor in Albuquerque, and I won't trust anyone else with my suits from now on!

EXEMPLARY! I had two weddings dresses that needed many alterations; I came across Seams & Sew On via google and decided to give it a try. One dress was a vintage and from the 1950's. Mansureh was able to restore to its original beauty even though it was in delicate condition. She carefully fixed the tool skirt by mending small tears and took-in the arm holes to fit me perfectly! Additionally, she altered my main gown (mermaid-style) by raising the hem and taking in the waist. The finished dress was exactly what I wanted despite all the changes that it. Very uncomfortable and humiliating experience. Upon arriving I introduced myself to Mansureh and as we got to the dress that I brought in to be altered. She asked me what was the occasion. After telling her it was for a wedding. She told me the dress was and I quote “Ugly and not suited for a wedding” “Material is cheap” She asked for the price of the dress and followed by telling me I could have gotten a less expensive dress on E-bay based on how cheap it looked. I felt very insulted and uncomfortable. Even if you believe or are the best at doing something. Witch I can neither deny or confirm with this particular seamstress. I do think that treating people with respect is key. I went for a dress alteration not for a rude and thoughtless comment. I simply had to change into my clothes and respectfully tell her that I would be looking for someone else out of discomfort. Manners and kindness go a long way regardless of culture. I will be looking for someone with better people skills to handle the task.

I brought Mansureh my wedding dress. I had bought a very expensive designer dress that I wanted her to take it in and hem. Unfortunately, I did not realize that my dress, which was an Anna Campbell, would need a side zipper and major alterations because it had been basically made as a bag with an elastic band and a belt in the middle. The way it was made she could not take it in or I wouldn't be able to get it on. Mansureh heard my vision and assured me she could make the dress into what I had envisioned. In hindsight, I could have just brought her the beautiful fabric and lace and had her design it. She made it a fitted sheath like I had wanted, she even came up with some beautiful details I wouldn't have thought of (e.g. having the lace frame the bodice, and using the fabric from the belt to make a gorgeous bow). Mansureh took what I brought her and worked with me to create the dream dress I wanted. I am truly thankful. She knows what she is talking about and takes pride in her work. She will take her time with you to make sure you are getting what you want. I wish I could post a before and after picture, so people could see the beautiful work. I may do that after the wedding! She made me feel beautiful!

The woman is quite eccentric. She wouldn't let me in with my shoes on because of her imported rugs, but she had no place for a person to sit to take their shoes off. This behavior continued inside because my shoes to wear with my dress had been worn before so I couldn't wear them. She was 3 feet tall; I am 6 feet tall and all I needed was an adjustment to my shoulders. She wouldn't put a step stool on her precious rugs so it was impossible to reach my shoulders. I should've walked out then. In the end my dress shoulders were wonky and the neckline choked me all night long.

In coming here I was referred by my now sister-in-law who had her friend have her wedding dress altered here. I heard nothing but good things, and my with my seamstress no longer doing alterations, I was desperate to have my wedding dress altered. A month and a half before my wedding I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, and realizing I had lost much more weight than I had originally thought I would I realized it would be a tough job. I had heard such good things, I was eager to have my dress altered. Upon meeting Mansureh, I noticed she has a very sweet and fierce personality. She does know what she is doing, and has had a lot of experience which we gladly chatted about during my first fitting. During the fitting she had a few strange comments about me losing weight (nothing I haven't heard before), but I just brushed it off. After talking with her for a while, she started mentioning some things that I found to be somewhat racist, and my mom and I just ignored it and agreed on a day when I would pick up and pay for the dress. When comin back to pick up my dress, I tried it on and I looked and felt secure. She taught my mom how to bustle the gown, we paid and said our goodbyes and she wished me a long and happy marriage. She was mostly professional and very sweet, just a very strong personality. However, the day of my wedding when I put on the dress, I have no clue as to why, but the bust was now much too big and easily slipped down. The waist was also bigger than it felt at my last fitting and the jeweled belt she had added on for me kept folding into the dress. The bustles broke and I later found and sat on a total of four pins! Not exactly how I wished I would have looked and felt on my wedding day, I do feel as if it was all just very unfortunate. I wish I would have somehow had an idea that the top was still much too big and I should have asked to have the waist taken in. So that is my own doing. But the pins and the bustle breaking was not worth the 600$. She is a sweet woman who treated my mom, daughter and I with hospitality and respect. I am very torn about leaving this review but I feel it is necessary with how everything went with my dress the day of. If you do have alterations here just be sure that you know exactly what you want and are willing to speak up and say exactly what you are expecting. Also check for pins!!

Mansureh is amazing!! I found her online and after reading the many great reviews on Google and Yelp, I had to have my dress altered by her. She's a talented seamstress who takes the time to explain what could be done, should be done, and what should not be done, whereas most shops would not take the time to be this meticulous and honest. My consult took about an hour, where Mansureh laid out all my options in detail and temporarily "hemmed" the dress to give me an idea of what it could look like. Two weeks later, I came back for a fitting. We ended up making a few minor tweaks, which Mansureh was more than willing to accommodate. I came back the following week and the dress fit like a glove! It was snugged in all the right places and was exactly what she'd promised it'd be! My dress has delicate lace overlay, which she had to remove individually by hand to hem the the length, then hand sew them back on to keep the design and scalloped trim. Additionally, I had a very large train that ended up with 20 bustles. She recommended that I buy some lace/pearl strands to cover up the bustle once pinned like creating a design for it, but to my pleasant surprise, she ended up building in a floral lace design of her own for me. It was so pretty! She showed my party how to bustle it and even sewed on red removable threads to remind us where to start - so thoughtful! Mansureh was great to work with. She will be honest and direct with you. You can't ask for a quote over the phone, as these things must be done in person to understand how much work is required. I recommend making an appointment. She has a lovely studio in her home. Trust me, ladies, take your dress here. You will not be disappointed! The amount of work and detail involved is worth the money!

In looking for a seamstress to work on my wedding dress, I scoured all the review sites to see who in the Albuquerque area does the best work. Mansureh at Seams & Sew On at that time had mostly positive reviews, but the negative ones made me nervous. I decided to consult with her anyway as I work in a customer service industry and know that you can never please everyone. During my first meeting, she quoted me a very good price which included hemming, adding four straps, and three bustles on a ball gown with many layers. During our second meeting, she determined that the dress actually needed five bustles, and I asked about the price increase for that. NOTHING. She didn't charge me extra because she said she had already quoted me the initial price and she would stand by that. She was very kind to me during both visits. She showed my mom (someone who is learning to sew) how to hem the dress in detail. I explained the variations that I wanted for the dress, showed her a few pictures, and she said she knew exactly what I was looking for and how to do it. Pinning for the alterations was very quick (considering the size of my dress, which is huge). When I picked up the dress, one of my bridesmaids met me there and was very late. Mansureh did not rush me and was not upset at all. I have been to many bridal shops and it seems like even though you have an hour long appointment scheduled, the goal is to force the salesperson's ideas on you and rush you out the door as soon as possible. This was not the case at Seams & Sew On. Mansureh showed us how to bustle the dress, set the straps, everything. The dress fit beautifully, was the right length, the straps were exactly right, and I could not be happier with my dress. Before we left, she did one last clean (lint removal) and wrapped up the dress for me. For those people who have said she doesn't work on complicated dresses, that is untrue. My dress is a ball gown with a petticoat, a liner, two layers of tulle, five alternating (different pieces attached to make one skirt overlay) tulle pieces with horsehair trim, and a moderate length train. She also made four straps for me, and attached the belt I had purchased. Not an easy job at all. Thank you Mansureh, my best wishes for your future!

I feel I didn’t thank Mansureh enough when I picked up my wedding gown, so I like to thank her online as well for the phenomenal job she did on my gown. I bought my wedding gown from a bridal shop in Albuquerque when I fell in love with it after trying it on at the store. It’s a dress that is straped in the back. The store tailor strapped it on me and told me it has to be taken in at the sides because it’s one size too big. She also said it needs to be hemmed. She said she must sew on several bustles because the train is very wide and long. Because I’m getting married at a beach in San Diego, I asked her if she can trim some of the fabric out of the skirt to make it less puffy; she told me that would not be possible. I brought the gown home without getting it altered and started searching for another tailor. I found Mansureh on Google and saw she has great reviews. I called her and she made an appointment for me the next day. When I tried my dress on and she strapped it on me so it was tighter, the top fit perfectly and did not need to be altered. When I asked her about trimming the excessive fabric from the skirt, she suggested to make the train detachable so after the ceremony I can remove it and be comfortable wearing my wedding dress for the entire night. I was nervous at first but she assured me she has done this many times in the past and told me not to worry. The price she charged me was much less than the bridle shop’s tailor. She asked me to choose the pickup day. On that day I tried my dress on and it was very light and beautiful without the train which I now will not have to carry all night long. Mansureh was very thorough and helpful with my dress alterations! I had two dresses that needed alterations, and each came out wonderfully. I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon Seams and Sew On. Mansureh just did extensive work on my wedding gown and I am extremely impressed. Her studio in her house is very well put together, professional, and comfortable. Mansureh has years of experience with alterations and tailoring, and her work shows. She took in my wedding gown in all the right places, added padding where needed (ha!), re-did the zipper so that it would fall right and just made it fit just perfect. I would trust her with any piece of clothing and especially one of the most important gowns I will ever wear! She got me right in the morning that I called her and had my gown done in 1 week. Even though her work is extensive and I received quotes from other tailorers, her price was very very reasonable for the work that she did. (I paid $150 for all of the alterations total-amazing considering I received quotes into the $400s). I absolutely love my gown now and there is NOTHING I would want different. Mansureh also mentioned that after my wedding she can alter it into a shorter gown that I could wear as a normal dress, GREAT idea, and I will be taking it to her down the road. What a wonderful experience! My bridesmaid dress is pretty, but it looked dowdy and inelegant on me because I ordered it according to my largest measurement. Mansureh fixed the bodice issues perfectly, and only required one fitting. It is a strapless chiffon dress with boning, and even so, she was able to get the dress back to me within a week. Bonus: because of her expert tailoring, I am no longer worried about slippage or tugging. Mansureh is a gifted artist (notice her stunning art on the walls!), and it shows in her work. Mansureh is truly talented at what she does! My friend saw great reviews about her and recommended I take my wedding dress to her after getting an estimate from the place I purchased the dress. The level of detail that Mansureh goes into about how and why she would tailor my dress was very reassuring. At the dress store, all I was told was that the bottom needed to be hemmed and the waist needed to be taken in and how much it would cost. Mansureh said more that than. She explained that my dress needed to be hemmed, but she would have to carefully reposition the flowers at the bottom before hemming it so they don't get cut off (something I never would have thought to ask). She then pinned up the train and explained how she would create the bustle so that it would be secure. She truly wants you to feel comfortable and look beautiful in your dress. I picked up my dress two weeks later and it was a perfect fit on the first try! Mansureh taught my friend and I how to bustle the dress and even placed removable red thread at the hooks, so we would remember where they are the day before the wedding. You can tell from her work and the way she explains everything that she really loves what she does. Aside from her great work, she is a very interesting and inspiring woman.
