Customer Beware! Was led to this shop to altar my wedding dress. Previous owner had done such a beautiful job on my dresses in the past.
Upon my arrival, I released that the business had sold to now current owner. I explained to him that my dress is an Eddy K sample wedding dress and is too big, also wanted a side slit. The new owner raved about how experienced, that he worked at the short hills mall and went over all his expertise and how, "You came to the right place". He also advised me to add the slit to the center of the dress said that this would be most beautiful. He mention adding lace to the bottom and I explained I need a rhinestone belt and it bustled." No problem "
After that day I felt that I have truly found a professional to fix my dress he was the only tailor I went with my wedding dress and could not wait to see the results. He said he would have it ready two weeks before my wedding. Total cost for alterations as lace was $175.00 - $725.00. It was steep I have already paid $1050 for my wedding dress but was willing to pay anything for a great result.
I went in for my first fitting and the dress had hardly anything done to it and the lace was not there, he told me because of the 2 inch snow fall it got delayed. At that time he also said he needed to order cups for my dress and by the following week it will be there. Went in the following week no lace no cups, progress was slow and dress was looking pretty bad like a rag.
I did not want to be a bridezilla he was always so busy as he exclaimed - so I figured that I would just allow him to do his thing after all he is the professional and knows his craft.
After weeks of back and forth no lace as he clearly lied about the lace since it was held up due to a storm that was now 3 weeks ago, I told him to nix the lace as I was loosing confidence in him and seen so many inconsistencies in his stories. By this point I had already paid him a total of $300. The work he had done by week four , sloppy and poor I would have been better off doing it myself.
The whole time he talked me in circles and deflected from the poor job - I still was hopeful for a beautiful outcome.
One week before my wedding the cups were finally in he claimed they were special cups and paid extra for them to arrive. I saw them they were standard cups again he is still playing me for a fool, I was very nice about this process however what through me over the edge was the fact that he lied directly to my and fiancés face.
After I asked about the bad hack job to my lace he said with much determination that the dress was brought to him that way - this is untrue as I have photos to prove it. My final fitting was a disaster the slit he insisted on adding the front of the dress is terrible and the stitching is even worse. He also took the dress in awful the sleeves still too big the side which are see through have a half of inch turn which is visible when I have it on
Besides that there was no bustle added - how would he like me to walk and dance in it ? There was no belt and the see through panel was not cover or a belt add. Rush job for sure!
When he gave me the dress he didn't even iron it or clean, he totally couldn't care less that its my wedding dress. He offered to return the $300.00 for alterations he said he made a mistake and he is human - yes I totally agree mistakes happen I understand however he has no intentions of making me whole. Im out a wedding dress that I cannot wear he lied about everything and his experience clearly .
I cannot wear my wedding dress on my wedding day all thanks to a business owner that hypes himself up, lies and then falls short of experience and says he made a mistake and feels like $300.00 is enough to cover the fact that on my wedding day I cannot wear the dress that took me so long to find all due to his negligence with a center slit that is off center with worst stitching all over the dress. My cups also have a dent in them.
