A friend told me about Alba Dry Cleaners, which is walking distance from my hotel. Upon arrival, I met the owner, Lumi and was immediately made to feel welcomed. The service is always excellent and the prices are about right for Manhattan. I don't normally review locations unless I feel very strongly about the service. If you need anything dry cleaning or especially tailoring, I urge you to go to Alba! I would give this place 100 stars if I could! I'm leaving for my destination wedding tomorrow and I realized one of the hook and eye clasps was broken on my wedding dress. It's Sunday and no where in NYC was open or accepting last minute tailoring. Finally, I found Alba. I called their store and all I had to say was "I'm leaving to get married tomorrow" and the owner eased my worries and told me he could help me right away. As soon as I walked in, he took my dress and quickly replaced the clasp. He gave me a hug, congratulated me on my wedding and didn't charge me for the service (despite my insistence). I didn't have a regular dry cleaner or tailor, now I do. I will never go anywhere other than Alba. This place has earned my utmost respect. Wonderful customer service, friendly staff, perfect tailoring and helpful, even when you're in a time crunch. This place is an absolute gem and I couldn't be more thankful for their help. Thank you!!!! I will be back again soon!!

One of the best dry cleaners that’s also open on Sundays. I’ve never owned a suit before so I figured I throw it in the wash on delicate cycle and let it air dry. Bad idea. It nearly destroyed my suit jacket. Within the hour I caught the train to Alba’s with my wet suit jackets and handed over the mess to him. The next morning I can exactly at 7am to check if my suits were still in tack. Low behold my suit jackets came out in pristine condition. They really take pride in the work they do. I am so grateful and now everything goes to Alba’s. They take care of your clothes like it’s theirs. Thank you!

Dropped a sweater off to this guy about 4 years ago. This sweater had a stain that couldn’t be removed. The length on this top was pretty long so we agreed that he would just alter it. He would cut the bottom off and redo the hem. I guess he messed up beyond repair because every time I came in to pick it up he would tell me “my wife has it, come back Thursday”. At first I went in for two years constantly, went in weekly asking for my $80 Armani sweater back. This went on for years! I gave him so many chances. I still have my receipt. The owner is a snake. I still want my item back! Don’t send your things here...you won’t see it again. Since I haven’t seen my sweater in all this time I will review this shop constantly until I get it back! He has never even once even offered to give me $20 toward my $80 item that he took. His wife is probably wearing it. Smfh

This is deserves more than 5 stars. I went into work in the area and found a rip on the back along the seam of my suit jacket, I called and he told me to come in, not to waste time on the phone! They took my jacket with no words exchange and came back out and said it'll take 10 minutes. Within less than 10 minutes, my jacket was fixed. The best part is when I asked how much do I owe him, he jokingly said $1 and I said "no seriously", he gave me a sarcastic look and said "nothing, go"...after a few back and forths he finally said "stop wasting my time, go" in a joking manner....this place and man is a blessing from God, definitely coming back to tailor all my suits from now on!

Why do I have to give this awful place 1 start to rate. It's been 4 weeks since I dropped it a knitted bag to be lined. I've been back and forth for 4 weeks in may and still only promises that it will be done for father's day which is when I would need to deliver this to my client. June 17th is today. Drive into the city to picked up my bag and as soon as I walked in the man at the front said "sorry it's not done ". I was so disappointed because he just cost me $250.00. I am not going to get paid for all of my hard work I knitted this bag with a broken finger.

For alternations: If you care about details and desire a quality service, there are many better options. I've been their customer since spring and have brought them at least 7 pairs of jeans and chinos for a variety of jobs: reshaping, tapering legs, taking in the waist, shortening, etc. The stitches on a couple of them would come off after only wash, the rest would become loose after 4 or 5 washes. They also did a poor job at measurements, when doing reshaping, 2 of my pants came out one side less tapered than the other at upper leg. The main reason I left this place is that the gentleman at the front lied to me. When picking up pants that I asked them to re-do, I found they did not do a good job so I asked them to redo it again. The gentleman lied to me said they can't do it because they "have already cut the material off". It's common knowledge when tapering legs, you simply fold and stitch the extra material. So I folded one leg inside out, pointed at the seam, and asked him "you said you cut off the material", he said nothing. Dishonesty is unacceptable. The feeling they left me is that they know how to operate the machine, but they lack knowledge of designing and craftsmanship. They definitely get a simple job done, but if you want a quality work, it's not the place.

I've been a customer for years and tried to work with the owner on numerous occasions; however, the owner has an attitude and the service is inconsistent. He gave my shirt to another customer, and has shrunk and damaged other clothes. I have also witnessed him treating other customers poorly. I do not recommend this cleaners!

The guy rocks - he is there 7 days a week, always picks up the phone, kindest and most gracious store owner downtown....and I would actually add, one of the hardest working. He's open 7 days a week with normal hours! I dropped off 8 articles to be dry cleaned on a Sunday night at 5pm...he told me he would deliver to me, and because I was a new customer, he refused to take payment until I had checked every article to ensure it was to my satisfaction...he then said I could call with payment later. I actually couldn't wait to call him with payment, lol...who trusts people like that nowadays?? Sad, but true. Love that he is an honest person with high integrity. Everything was great - I will definitely be going back. The guy doesn't have 5 star ratings from everyone for nothing....

Clean shop and attentive. Always willing to give you a discount or work within your schedule. Will give you a credit if something happens with your dry cleaning. For alterations, I WOULD NOT go here. The pants I had taken in were way too far in and uncomfortable. My girlfriend had a dress taken up and the seam was uneven (and they also didn't take up the lining as well, so it awkwardly hung down). Definitely bring your dry cleaning here as it's local, but definitely don't have your alterations done at this shop.

Avoid at all costs and don't be fooled by a few good reviews on dry cleaning. Beware of forked tongue owner (you can see him in my pic) and his bad jokes to trick you into buying from him. Worst retail experience ever and I don't just mean dry cleaning and tailoring.Took $1000+ of my money to tailor 4 suits (and other items) and lost them, then tried to give me someone else's pants. Had to come back 7 times which the owner did to delay me so I couldn't charge back my credit card since time expired. Refused to refund or make good. Owner measures your clothes carelessly so other alterations were off too. Hands back tailoring dirty in need of dry cleaning! Yes, this place is garbage.

This is the best dry cleaner in New York City, and maybe the entire country. They truly care about the quality of their service, and everything always comes out PERFECT and on time. Ask for same-day service, the answer is always no problem. The tailoring is incredible, I brought my suit here to have it taken in a bit, and their work was way better then the original tailoring. The shop is immaculately clean and organized. Best part is they are open amazing hours from 7am to 9pm, and always offer you an espresso on dropping off or picking up. Could not be better.

Great neighborhood dry cleaner and tailor. I prefer all of my pants to be tapered, and Lumi does an excellent job with all of them. A pair I had done 6 months ago is still holding strong and looks like the original hem. Lumi's a great guy and really cares about the work he does, also he's very generous with his espresso. Every time you come in he'll offer you an espresso which I think is a great touch and yet another reason to keep coming back.

Had such a great experience here, getting my bridesmaids dress both hemmed and the top altered. I did a LOT of research going to multiple tailors and this place was so incredibly reasononbly priced. Practically a hundred dollar difference from some of the other places I looked at. The job was done extremely quickly and efficiently for a quarter of the cost that other places were charging. Most expensive and slowest dry cleaner in Manhattan. On my first visit to this dry cleaner, my bill was $160 for 20 shirts and a suit. Pricey even for New York City. Not only is this the most expensive dry cleaner I've visited, they did not return my clothes on time. In fact, I still do not have my clothes! There are many cheaper and timelier alternative dry cleaners in Manhattan. Staff is nice, but that doesn't matter when the service is overpriced and slow. Do not use Alba's.

Excellent experience and great tailoring work by Lumi and his team at Alba. Had a unique situation where I received two new jackets and a pair of slacks an hour before a week long trip leaving DC. Just happened to be staying in NYC overnight before flying overseas. I called Lumi, explained my situation, and he was able to get everything altered within four hours so I actually had clothes to wear the rest of the week. I really have nothing to add beyond existing reviews: great guy doing a great job. I used to use the Ann St place and had to look elsewhere because I got my shirts wrinkled and smelling like burnt oil. To which the boss said "I'll talk to the guy who does it" or "its the machine". Alba's work has not shown any imperfections so far. And its just a nicer experience and atmosphere - a much cleaner place, let alone the amazing espresso!

Honestly the best dry cleaning experience I have ever had in either New York or California. Lumi is a one man show in the front, handling the pick-up, drop-offs, sizing, tailoring, and occasional espresso making. They provide exceptional customer service and attentiveness to every detail of your needs. I went to have three pairs of pants hemmed and walked away with more than I paid and hoped for. Note: They have on-site tailoring and alterations, but dry cleaning is sent out & back three times a day. Don't call, just come! You'll appreciate the experience, especially if you come with a little patience. Lumi is the absolute nicest guy! I had so many pieces of clothing I needed fixed that he became almost like my "NYC Grandfather." I have had several dresses and pants, and purses dry cleaned and tailored. He does fabulous work. Impeccable! He is a people pleaser and always wants to help everyone, especially if it is a fashion emergency for a big event. In particular he did an AMAZING job on one of my dresses. I accidentally burned it with an iron and part of the fabric on the direct front melted a hole through the dress. He took the entire dress apart and adjusted the material so that the melted part was no longer showing and put the whole dress back together again. I though my dress was ruined and I had just gotten it. He saved the day!

My fancy wool coat is completely ruined by this dry cleaner. My coat still has stain and the color isn't vibrant as before and the coat now has a lot of little wool balls on it. Not wanting to show up with a wrinkled jacket I found Alba Dry Cleaners through an online search. I called and was told that they could press my jacket quickly for a modest price. As the result of miscommunication (largely my fault) the jacket was not ready when I came to pick it up. I was panicked. The proprietor managed to find me a loaner jacket to match my pants.....when I returned to the store a few days later to exchange the loaner for my suit jacket - - they had my jacket cleaned and pressed...and the proprietor refused to accept any payment. I was surprised...such honorable people are hard to find these days.

I came here after my other dry cleaners ruined with bleach my boyfriends pants and i saw the good reviews so I trusted them. They first ruined a very expensive dress of mine which was white satin and they washed or something with black clothing that they turned grey. Because the owner admitted it and paid for the dress I decided to stupidly come back. I then sent in another very delicate dress and told him please take care of this. Came back ruined, seems like they ironed the silk or something and burned it and now he has lost a jumpsuit of mine!!!! Its beyond upsetting and unprofessional. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CLOTHES HERE. I’ve received shirts that werent mine before and returned to him. It shows how sloppy he is. These are items I can’t rebuy he has ruined and lost.

Such wonderful customer service! I brought in a few items include a pair of shorts that had a ripped hem. The gentleman fixed it on the spot free of charge, waving his hand away when I offered. The job was seamless and they have a real eye for detail, making suggestions of adding button closures, etc. The mirror with side views was also very helpful! Couldn't be happier and so glad I came across this tailor!

Owner is a scam artist. Make sure you check your bills, as my building told us to not use him, as he is good at begining. Then after a few times, he is very abusive, and caused alot of trouble when i brought two jackets to be tailored. he messed them up, and i had to threaten lawsuit to get them back. I would hate the drama that he did on me to happen to anyone else.

I rarely write reviews but I've tried many of the places in the neighborhood and I must say Alba is the BEST!! The hours work with my schedule, quick service and quality work. I had to get a very oversized bridesmaid dress tailored. It was awful when I received it (it was NOT at all the measurements the shop wrote down) so I went to Alba to alter it. I waited until a week before the wedding (procrastinator) , but he took his time and did an amazing job! He worked with my schedule and had me come in a couple times in order to get the job done correctly and the dress fit perfectly in time for the wedding! Again, Alba is the BEST!!

Don't believe a word they tell you. I dropped off my clothing on June 1. As of today, June 24, it was still unready, despite my receipt confirming a June 4 pick-up date, and despite being assured, upon coming to pick it up, that it would be completed the next day. You will find yourselves in dire straits if you trust them to complete the work by the date you need it done.

My mans Lumi is too legit. These fitted pants had me feeling myself! I wasn't trying to go to the club the night I picked up my pants. BUT I HAD TO! Everyone at the club saw my newly fitted clothes. Once upon a time he was the best. Now he has other people doing the work and it's no longer good. After they ruined two pairs of pants and lost a third pair, I stopped using them. In my opinion, he'd be better off doing the work himself...even if he can't do the volume and has to compensate by charging more. I cannot recommend

I could not recommend another dry cleaning/tailor shop more. Each time I go, I am treated with kindness, speedy service and great work. I’ve gone for both dry cleaning and adjustments and I can say both services are worth the visit. The owner has a team of employees working diligently in the back so you will often have to wait a day at most. With such a quick turnover, I am always ready for work or personal events. I trust Alba to get my clothes in tip top shape, even when I procrastinate in stopping by until the last moment. I wouldn’t even think of going elsewhere.

Went there in a panic. Knew nothing of the place, but was looking for same day service as I had to fly out of town with my clothes the next evening. Although I missed the cut off time for same day drop off, the gentleman owner made a special exception after I showed him how I located his place (Google search for same day dry cleaning in NYC).
