Julie is absolutely amazing! I bought an ivory wedding dress off eBay and it needed a lot of alterations to correct a crooked seam, fit it to my waist, move lace around to fit the cap sleeves, lop off a long, heavy train and put a bussle in. Julie is very talented and can envision things beyond the material that is there. She listens to what you want and will make suggestions about other/better ways to do it. Listen to her. She KNOWS what she is doing. There wasn't a single thing that stumped her. She can work her magic no matter how much work needs to be done with a dress. I wound up buying a white dress after 6 months because my fiance and I decided that would ivory would clash with the other colors in the wedding. Even though Julie had already pinned my first dress, she was very gracious in starting all over again with my new dress. The second dress had a complex swoop to the left, so although it needed fewer things done to it to fit it, it was a more complex dress and the level of difficulty was higher. Again, Julie was very gracious and offered to make the alterations on the second dress at the same price as the alterations for the first dress.
Julie surprised me when I went back in for the fitting for my second dress and had used some sequined lace pieces from another dress and pinned it to my dress where the dress swooped and gathered on the hip. It was gorgeous! I already loved this dress but this put tears in my eyes. It was the perfect touch.
Julie is the kind of person who thinks about each of her clients and what she can do to add to her work. Other people would just do the work and be done and that's fine. But Julie really looks for ways to go over and above.
Julie was fun to work with. We shared many laughs over the months that she worked on my two dresses. She is personable and easy to talk to. For those people who didn't think so, they must not have been very personable themselves. Think about it. Julie is a businesswoman and this is her business. She caters to her customers. If they don't talk and just want to get in and get out, then why would she strike up personal conversations with them? If they talk and share themselves, she will do the same. So, if you want to make a personal connection with her, she is open to that. If you just want her to do an amazing job altering your clothing, she is open to that too.
I thought Julie's prices were very reasonable. I was never shocked or upset at what she charged. I was actually surprised that it wasn't higher. Remember, Julie is extremely talented. You should pay accordingly for high quality. You can't expect to pay $25 for $100 worth of work. Julie is not going to overcharge you and you get more than what you pay for with Julie. She cares about making sure you are happy with what she is doing for you. She takes pride in her craft and will not disappoint you.
