Needed a suit tailored for an event on short notice. Called and was told to come in anytime during shop hours and we'll take care of it. I get there at 11:50 a.m. on a Tuesday and a handwritten sign is posted on the door..."back at 1:00 o'clock". Really? Called and received a recorded message. Terrible service in a competitive market. You lost my business before you had the chance to earn it...no good Northeast Tailor Shop...no good!!

Altug is my trusted tailor for much of my business's work. He is timely (although you should call ahead to make sure your garments are done) and his pricing is very reasonable. Only a few clients (out of hundreds I've sent) have ever had anything negative to say about him and his work...for an alterations tailor, this is amazing. And those people have all been micromanage-y and have had unreasonable expectations. Altug is a tailor (and a really good one), not a magician. 100% recommended.

I felt he was a bit overpriced and actually when I mentioned it seemed a bit high he instantly wanted me to leave his shop and told me to shop elsewhere. I didn’t want to negotiate but rather he explained to me all of the different prices he was charging to get my husbands pants hemmed. And the sleeves cut down on his jacket. 94$ his price his price just explain, don’t get defensive. It was my second time here as the first time I showed up there was a handwritten note that he was out for the weekend. You also must prepay for services which I’m not sure how I feel about that with tailoring garments. We usually got to St. Paul but wanted to try to find something closer to home. Well this place is not it! Sorry I really wanted a new place to save in time!

I brought two suit jackets to Altug after he had brought the waist in on another jacket that I thought he did a good job with. He didn't make any marks on the jackets or pin them, though I figured since the first jacket went well, these two would also. After picking up the two new jackets, I showed him that the backside of the collar now showed the felt and not just the suit fabric. He said it would be an easy fix that he would even do for free (I'd hope, because it didn't use to look that way). When I went to pick them up, a new issue surfaced; the fabric along the shoulder seemed to not lay flat. I pointed this out to him and he said I just needed to get it steamed and then it would be fine. I had them steamed and both still weren't laying flat, though Altug told me now that it must be a problem with the suit (even though it didn't have that problem before I asked him to bring the waist in). He told me that there wasn't much else he could do and that I should contact the suit makers because it was "a suit problem". The suits are made to measure, cost about $800 each, and I have others that weren't altered by Altug that don't have this problem-- it isn't a "suit problem". I brought the two suit jackets to another tailor in Edina who opened the jacket up and worked with me for about 2 hours, trying to fix them both. They told me that the work the previous tailor (Altug) had done around the collar should have been a job by hand, but that it looked like it had quick been thrown together using a machine. In the end, they still couldn't get the suits to lay flat across my shoulders like they once had, saying that the original alteration and then the work on the collar through off the proportions of the suit padding and the suit fabric. I've attached a picture of the end result. I wouldn't say the suits are ruined, but I will not be trusting or recommending Altug to anyone in the future.

I had never stopped into the Northeast Tailor Shop, but in a pinch, I needed a stitch job on a pair of pants for a wedding the next day. Not only did he take me as a walk-in on a Saturday, but he was very fast and cordial. Oh, and as a measure of good faith, he didn't charge me a dime. I'm very glad I chose his shop and will be back again for whatever I need.

Do not go here! I had been a customer of his and hadn't had many major issues, generally pleasant encounters until this time, which ended in the most unprofessional experience I have ever encountered. I know it's long, but it's definitely something you should want to know. I took a bridesmaids dress in to be hemmed and came to pick it up and it was about 2in shorter than agreed. I informed him of this, and he began to pull down on the sides of my dress, I told him to stop as it was bringing down the portion over my chest. I did not accuse him of inappropriate behavior, I know that tailors have to touch your clothing to fit them (obviously). To out of nowhere he freaked out and started shouting saying, "Shame on you!" I quickly went to change back into my normal clothes and could hear him slamming things aggressively out near his work space. He was shouting "Stupid girl, way to ruin someone's day!" And calling me many curse words to the point where I was actually scared anticipating a violent encounter, desperately wishing that someone else would walk into the shop. I stepped out after getting dressed and looked at him to see if he was going to try to do anything or if we were going to have to argue about me paying for the dress he ruined. He then looked at me and yelled "Get out!" So I did, and he angrily followed me out of his shop yelling, "Shame on you!" and still calling me the most vile curse words until I nearly reached my car. So on top of him failing at my alteration, he treated me worse than an animal.

I brought a bridesmaid dress to Northeast Tailor shop to have the length hemmed. I was very clear that I needed the work done in 2 weeks and that I would pick up the garment the day before leaving for the wedding. When I arrived to pick I up, no work had been done on the dress and the excuse I was given was that he had just arrived for the day and there were other dresses he had had for 5 weeks. Proceeded to scold and berate me as though I had no right to be upset. I was refunded, but on the way out he made a point of ensuring the door hit me. Unbelievably unprofessional and rude, no regard for customer service or attempting to make things right with an apology. I took the dress to Stitch It in Roseville who was able to same day rush and complete the work I needed.

My husband and I come here often. He gets literally all of his clothes altered here and has for about a year. There is no way you should consider going to any other tailor in Minneapolis. The work is always on point, reasonably priced and ready for pickup quickly. He's done rush orders in literally 48 hours. The owner is amazing and super friendly.

First time into his shop...had a pair of shorts with a unraveled seam. He had excellent communication skills and quickly assessed my need. Yet that afternoon they were repaired in such a way that I could not tell where the repair was located. There is no doubt he'll be my tailor in the future. Note that he recently moved to a new location further north on Johnson. He's between the theater and Parkway Pizza on the east side. Overall, very impressed with his skill and professionalism. What a nice guy! I highly recommend Northeast Tailor Shop.
