Biggest (and only) regret from my wedding was going here for alterations. My dress needed minor changes. A hem and the band needed to be let out. Christina completely changed the shape of my dress. I brought up my concerns several times and was told she knew what she was doing. I believe it all started when she clipped the straps the first day without noticing the dress wasn’t zipped up. The dress I wore on my wedding day was not the one I brought in to her. For starters, it was too long. I had to lift it to walk down the aisle. That is a very basic thing to get wrong. the dress also seems to be deflated. I picked it for it’s shape and all the volume seemed to have been taken out. I brought this to Christina’s attention many times and was told it would bounce back when steamed. That didn’t happen. In fact, I don’t even believe the dress was steamed. Moments before I walked down the aisle I put on the dress and saw dirt on it. Finally, at my final fitting I noticed a circle on the band of my dress and Christina laughed because a cup had fallen out of the bust. Her solution was to reach up and tear it out. The whole top of my dress was bumpy and unflattering. Christina ruined my wedding dress. Do not make the same mistake I did. I wish I could attach photos.

I had a wedding about one year ago to attend.. it was a black tie affair.. Needed a dress but I am small and quite picky.. lol Christina took 2 dresses I had and put them more together. Black sateen Minnie Dress and a beaded gown I had.. The dress came out AMAZING!!!! ONE OF A KIND absolutely gorgeous.. She listened to everything I asked and was right on point... I will go there always! Thanks again Pins and needles! Christina is amazing...

The whole experience was wonderful! I thought I found a hidden gem, but everyone seems to know just how great Pins and Needles is and I will continue to share with anyone who needs the best.

I came in with a bridesmaid dress about 2 sizes too small. Within a very short timeframe, I believe I was under a week, she was able to expand the dress so it fit perfectly. Could not be more pleased with the results

I had never been to Pins and Needles before; this was my first time. Since I had not done business previously, I did not know if an appointment was needed. When I called to inquire about appointments, I was informed that I did not need one. At that point, I said I'd be buy at 10 am (the time that they open). I was informed to come a bit after 10, like 10:15, as the seamstress likes to settle in before taking customers. That should have been my first red flag. If you aren't ready to business at the time that you say you are open, then you either show up earlier in the day so that you can be settled by business hours, or change your business hours. When I arrived, I did not see any prices posted anywhere. I looked, trust me. I did see, however, many signs posted (and framed) that stated CASH ONLY. Ok, I made a mental note of that. I was shown to a fitting room so I could put the dress on. I stood on the podium in my dress when the seamstress came out. She did not say hello or even ask me my name. Fine, I thought; not everyone is super friendly. She went away pinning the hem on the dress. She did not ask me what length I wanted, but I'm not picky, so that didn't bother me (although it is worth noting if you are considering this business). Once the dress was pinned, I went to the front desk to be given an amount for the alterations - $150 to hem the dress, take in the top and add boning (which was neither recommended by the owner, nor requested by me). None of those alterations were itemized either - the cost was simply $150. I was like wow, that's 3 times the cost of the dress (it was a $50 bridesmaid dress that was made in China and ordered on Amazon). The young man at the front desk said "Alterations are expensive." The more I thought of it, the more I got irked that I was being charged to hem 3 layers when 2 of those were stitched together. I called back to ask about this and was given an elaborate explanation of what needed to be done and why I was being charged for 3 layers. I am a skilled enough at sewing to know that those 2 layers could be done in a way that is faster and easier than what they alleged. I decided not to have them do the alterations and told them I'd be buy to pick it up later. 5 minutes later I got a phone call from the shop, "Just a reminder there's a $35 consultation fee, cash only." If there is a consultation fee, that is something you charge the customer up front and something that you also tell them when they call for more information. I am not going to pay you for a fee that you have now made up in an effort to hold my dress hostage. I was so disgusted by this whole situation that I told them they could keep the dress. There was no way in hell I was going to give them a penny. I ordered another one for less than what they wanted for their consultation fee. If you do choose to do business with them, be vigilant. Ask the right questions ahead of time and ask for a ball park on the estimate. A skilled seamstress can easily tell you how much it will cost to take to hem one layer of a dress, etc.

I brought my wedding dress to pins and needles in danvers ma to Christina the owner. She was so nice the entire time withal the alterations, I was nervous every time I went because it was taken apart and there were strings of beads hanging from it and I knew it would be put back together and look amazing when I picked it up. I wet to pick it up, there was strings and beads falling off of it, there was bunches of fabric sewn together where it was taken in instead of being cut and taken it and it didn't lie flat on my back it was all bulged out on one side, there were holes in my lace, there were strings of beads the piping that goes under the bust ripped and sewn on but you could tell it was ripped, there was a blue stain on the back of the dress from what I have no idea. The underneath was a satin and the top overlay on the entire dress was hand beaded lace and it looked like it sat in a trash bag for months she said she pressed it, well I have pictures and it didn't look like that before, it looks like she melted the fabric and it is shrunk. so my wedding is in 4 days and I don't have a wedding dress I can wear to it. This is a private label designer hand beaded gown made to order I did not buy this in a regular bridal salon and it is irreplaceable and when I told her I was discusting that this was ok with her she laughed in my face and walked away. I have gone 2 years planning this wedding with no stress, no drama, enjoyed every moment of it and took it all in but am sick to my stomach with this and don't know what I am going to do for a dress in 4 days.

Go somewhere else for your alterations!! My wedding gown was ruined here. Christina never listened to what I wanted changed on my wedding gown but just rushed me out everytime. My only regret for my wedding was coming here for alterations. Seriously

Excellent tailor! My daughter had dresses altered for her Junior prom and senior prom and the work was excellent. The work for the senior prom was more involved and she even created a bustle so she could walk more comfortable. Highly recommended!

Nothing but wonderful things to say about Christina at Pins and Needles. I have been going to her for alterations since my first semi formal back in middle school. I competed in Miss Massachusetts USA this past November and I couldn’t have felt more confident up on that stage because of her help. She made my gown hug me in all the right places and even added some cups to give me that extra “boost”. Not only did she fix my gown, she also altered my bathing suit for that portion of the competition and I was so in love. I highly recommend seeing Christina for all your needs!!!

Christina is INCREDIBLE at what she does! I took my wedding dress to her and was so impressed that I then brought two additional dresses to her that I wore as a bridesmaid in two of my friends weddings. Her appointments are quick and to the point. She made my wedding dress fit me perfectly and always listened to any adjustments I requested and executed them flawlessly. One of the bridesmaids dresses that I had ordered came 1 size too small and the wedding I was in was 1 week away, to say I was freaking out was an understatement. Christina made time for me, let out the sides of the dress, and fixed the dress to make it look like that was exactly how the dress was always supposed to look. I will go to Christina for any alterations I need in the future.

I have gone to Christina in the past for a bridesmaid dress alteration, and it came out PERFECT. So when I went to get married with no hesitation I called Pins & Needles for my bridal gown. Firstly, they were able to beat (by more than half) the alteration price that the bridal boutique offered me. She had no limits on the amount of alterations or try ons which was great because most of us brides are dieting and hoping to continue getting smaller. As I lost weight, Christina continued to alter the dress to ensure it was perfect for my day and at no extra charge. Days before my rehearsal dinner I got a dress in the mail. I loved it but it was too big up top and needed to be altered. I called Christina in a panic and she was able to see my that day and had my dress ready in time. Christina did an amazing job and I will continue to go to her for every alteration I need, I would highly recommend. Attached is my rehearsal dress after she altered it; I will share my wedding dress once our pictures come back!
