I own a small business and sew--but I also work full time and just moved to the area and didn't have anyone around who could help me pin two pairs of pants so I could do the work myself. I selected this location due to the location and hours since I was already in the area headed to Arina's Shoe Repair (great work by him, by the way). Also the Google reviews for this business were decent, albeit outdated, so I gave it a try.
That was a mistake.
There is a small, cluttered dressing room for you to try on your clothing for alteration. Despite both pairs of pants being made of linen, the gentleman only pinned in two locations. I questioned him on it and he said that was enough. I also asked him if he would match the thread (thread shows through on linen pants and it needs to match). He said it didn't need to match. Fine--you are the expert, I won't fight you on it. The cost was $37 total for 2 pairs, which was a shock (it should only cost $10 per pair for a rolled hem even if you are in the city), but I was committed at that point and I assumed that extremely quality work would be completed.
It took more than ten days for completion. I stopped in at the very end of the day prior to when they said they would be ready (I was already in the area on foot and just dropped in). The woman who was there at the counter laughed at me when I inquired if they happened to be ready yet--yikes on customer service.
I have since picked up the pants, and one of the pairs is too short--by about an inch, and I am wearing the same exact shoes I had on when I took them in to be altered. I am almost certain that it is because he didn't pin in more than two locations. The other pair of pants is uneven--the right side pants leg is higher on the inside than on the outside. The quality is adequate at best, and the grey thread shows through on my pink linen pants because they are long stitches, just as I suspected it would. I am really irritated with them and the entire process. I am not going to bother taking them back to ask them to repair it--I will do it myself.
Do yourself a service and stay away from this location. Patronize a business owner who takes pride in his work and does a quality job every time.
